- I broke one of my favourite rods and I was just about to scrap it when I thought that maybe I could just splice this thing back together again.
Simply all I needed was:
1- a saw to cut off the broken pieces.
2- a fiberglass driveway marker rod.
3- epoxy
4- some thread or in my case I used some extra braid fishing line
I keep saying fibreglass but its plastic.
Great idea! I have about 20 broken rods from fishing in Alaska sitting in the garage, so will give it a go!
@@Alaskahuntr my perspective was, it’s already broken so I can’t make it worse! Good luck I’m sure you’ll get a few of them in working order!
Nice job! I've repaired a few fishing rods in my days using repair kits that were available back then. I bet they're crazy expensive now. Dollarama to the rescue 🙂
@@MusicalBox Thank you! I want to really put this to the test with some large carp or salmon next year!
I've only seen rods break there when someone is catching a fish and putting that area on a railing for support like on a boat. It forms a small indent/crack and breaks. Nice job fixing it.
I’ve definitely had an over pressure break in that area on a streamside rod. My fault. This one however i was lobbing out a 1 ounce weight into the lake. I didnt have to cast it out very far. Cant wait to test this out on a double digit. Salmon or carp
Who knew Bob Rossi fished? 😊
Nice fix too.
Nice! Great for rods that are not under warranty.
Looks pretty good to me! Got some character.
@@nextlevelangling for sure it does now. A cool little scar.
you should cut it in slant angle and then wrap it with thread. stronger than straight cut
@@rolandoreyes5291 that is smart. Next time!
Good idea 😊
let me know how it goes after catching at lease 5 fishes.
@@gooeybeast74 I’ve casted a 1 oz weight in below freezing temps at least 25x now. If it was going to break, it would’ve done so already with those tests. I am definitely going to bring this out for salmon season this summer and use this for carp. I’ll make an update video if I break it again! That’s for sure.
@LadybugAdventures Great Job!! 👍
