A pleasure to tune in to your video again. I believe this is the best coarse fishing channel in the UK. Great host, excellent production, environmentaly positive and your skill levels targetting specific species and individual fish, are beyond compare. Keep up the great work, I am learning so much.
On the litter subject, I 100 percent agree, and this by no means condones it but ironically when Deptford Creek in london was cleaned up, over 400 shopping trolleys and other discarded rubbish were removed, fish stocks declined by 50%, as the fish had started to use these structures for hiding places etc in place of the normal structures that were found since the watercourse had been modified so heavily. I think they wound up having to sink wooden structures in place of the trolleys to encourage fish to come back!
Yeh I think the river Wandle that's your side maybe more South, dumped tyres everything. As I said if it's cheap to dump rubbish you know where it's going. And I bet you their not English

I love the fact you pointed out the problem with rubbish!!! It makes my blood boil when I get to one of my private venues an have to start clearing people's rubbish before I can start. It's unacceptable in 2025 we still dealing with this issue. Well done for bringing it up.

Always amazes me how big the Pike can get in a tiny stream. My PB of 11lb came from a river locally that barely breaches 2ft in most reaches but that was many years ago before pollution, abstraction and poaching heavily affected the sport. Have a great 2025 and look forward to more videos

From America here, I had to pause the video 1:43 in when I seen you pull a Treble Hooked lure out of your pocket with such ease, I almost shed a tear of jealousy, I couldn’t even think about setting up a treble hook without it getting snagged on my pants, jacket, A branch etc. 😂

Top vid! The litter problem at some of my favourite venues can be maddening! Was out briefly yesterday, had a bit of a walk along a local brook that had flooded recently, the high water mark was easy to make out as it consisted of tons of plastic bottles wedged into the vegetation.
I know you probably wont read this but I was looking back to all you old videos and you have come so far its actually insane all the stuff you've got and achieved
Great video! many thanks. As regards the pollution issue, though, it's such a shame to see such rubbish and junk lying around everywhere. I recently went dead-baiting for pike at a local canal for a few hours. I caught a cracking fish, a pike of about 15 or 16 lbs or so. It was the first time I fished there in years, and I was saddened to see so much defilement in what was once a picturesque and pristine stretch of canal. There were cans, bottles, and rubbish everywhere, and also the vandalism and graffiti as well. It's so sad. Anyway, thanks for another entertaining session, and I look forward to your next endeavours. Tight lines, and a happy new year to you.

Great footage Chris as always, throughout tge year. I was on a pike lake over Christmas within a half hour of home and like that i was very disappointed by the level of litter and dumping of rubbush. Once again i observed a lot of the litter was left behind by other fisherman, looking forward to more excellent footage in 2025. Thank you and happy new year to yo and your loved ones at home.

Great video, inspiring to see so many fish caught in pretty poor conditions. It’s an ambition of mine to live somewhere you can further than a foot into the water. Mind you, I have had some fantastic pike takes in the last couple of yards but I’m 64 so I have to watch out I don’t have a bloody heart attack from the shock! Thought lines everyone!

Totally agree on the condition of our rivers . We have a stream running through the farm ,it only has one road crossing it and practically no houses ,yet we het alot of rubbish after the floods . It can only be from people in cars throwing it over the bridge ... Sad to see. Also at 11.15 when you start talking about the rubbish is that a tree that has been felled by a beaver ? Great video yet again 🙂
hey ginger fisherman could you do an experiment with the underwater camera and see if scenting lures with attractants affects how many perch eat it? you could have one scented lure and one unscented and maybe touch it a lot to see if human scent repels the fish, and have the same lure model

The difference between a journeyman fisherman (like me) and you Chris, is that after catching a Chub like that I would have kept on going with the same gear. Really inspiring videos! Fishing in small rivers, canals and lakes with lures from the bank without tons of equipment is relaxing and great fun. Livng in the southwest of Sweden, fishing this time a year i very difficult due to constantly bad weathet, rain, wind and low air pressure. What is it like in UK? Predator fish seems to be active😀 whats the normal water temparature in winter in UK?
The plastic pollution on this river is heartbreaking … the damage the local folk are doing to the environment is shameful … this is a sure sign of the degradation of humanity especially within this country ….
In the Netherlands we have an innitiative called 'vang 5', wich translates to 'catch 5'. If you go fishing, take a liiterbag and take 5 pieces of litter with you when you return home (you can take more ofcourse). It helps clean the area you are fishing.
Hey mate absolutely love the content watch the videos pretty much same day the get released, I do have a query, is it possible when your fishing on the go pro to have a wider lense setting love to see how you reel in and what sort of movement your doing with the rod, as a brand new pike fisherman id love to see how you do it to see how I can improve!
Great video just had a few hours on the canal today only had a few takes no fish , but 3 cracking ones on boxing day , there is still kids with little to no tackle, nets and landing mats roaming up and down the canal iv got no idea how they are going to land or unhook then if they do actually manage to hook one !!!

If you watch the water when he hooked the second fish you’ll see the chub moved with the wake. The chub was definitely in the water

I guess it’s everywhere the same. Every time we go fishing we take a lot of plastic and bottles back home for the trash. Shameful it is

I’ve always picked rubbish up and found any they have bins around and if not take it home and recycle it
