    Great video thanks - tidy Job. A mate broke his 15ft Carbon Continental rod about 6" from the tip, and said "if you want to repair it, you can have it". It was a fibreglass tip so no way to put anything inside. I managed to buy a length of Carbon tube near the right diameter to fit over the outside. I had to gently ream the tube a fraction to get it to slide down where it needed to be, and epoxied it in place. That was a year ago and the rod still casts & works well. Stay safe & well - Dave. 👍👍

      i am always a bit nervous for the first few casts and then I kind of forget the repair over time, nice idea with tube over, thanks

    You're a master of the craft for sure. Great fix for lighter rods but it wouldn't hold fighting tropical monsters like a 80-150lb tarpon.

    • @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
      @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman  11 місяців тому

      this is a lightweight rod so I am using lightweight materials and a lightweight carbon insert, but the principle hold for heavier rods, you need heavier inserts that match the action and more layers of tow, there are companies that do this, for expensive game and fly rods

      I used PRO-Glu rod building epoxy, for the joint this is a pretty standard 40 minute epoxy i would get whatever is easy for you in small amounts, i used finishing epoxy for the whippings,cheers

      @@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman Ok great stuff!If the Rod's tip brakes like 2 inches from the top what would be the best way to fix it I don't really want to make the rod shorter by cutting it off to the nearest eye I want to keep the original length but the inside hole of the rod is very small and I don't really like to fix it with a solid alan key or a drill bit inside the blank.

    L'idée du fond de la cannette pour le mélange de la colle epoxy est une bonne idée.
    Je pourrais justifier à ma femme ma consommation de bière lol!
    Sinon bon travail ! J'ai une canne à laquelle je tiens, hérité de mon grand-père, et je vais pouvoir la réparer.
    Ça doit être le même procédé pour de la fibre de verre non?
    Tu as mis 3 couche de colle sur la ligature ? C'est bien ça?

      Un gars dans les commentaires précise qu’il a utilisé cette méthode (avec du carbone) sur une canne en fibre de verre et que ça a fonctionné et qu’il pêche avec depuis un an sans problème.
      Bon courage pour sauver ta canne !

      @@chkilou c'était celle de mon grand-père. J'ai sorti mes premières perches avec elle.
      Donc dans tous les cas elle restera au moins accroché au mur.

      It is an interesting question, and i suppose i go with what i am enjoying doing now, and what i can fit in between the all the other stuff i have to do, like a job, a family, and occasionally some fishing. Editing is probably the hardest part of making any video and takes a lot longer than filming, so with many older videos it might just be better to start from scratch. A lot of the things i used to do i would probably not do in the same way as like everyone else I am learning as I go. Thanks for a thought provoking question, cheers
