@@royjohnson2519 It's mainly because the modern players today have so much influence from the old players. Lets say Messi was in the time of Pele. He would be a great player, yes, but he wouldn't be as prodigious as now. Why? Because the Olden players had invented so many things that the newer players took and mastered. Without those being invented, the prestige of a certain character wouldn't be there. But if you were to take Pele and put him in modern times, the exact opposite would happen. The techniques invented by the older players would get nurtured by Pele and he could change it into a godlike thing. A prime example of this could be Zidane's Marielle Roulette, which was invented by Maradona. If Maradona never invented that, Zidane's skills may have been hurt as he didn't know how he could do it.
In recent time, only footballers and those that played football regularly recreationally would know how good he is. The rest are just fans who only know current players
As a Brazilian, I can only say thanks for showing the respect and love for Pelé... Watching people from other countries talking about him makes me feel like his legend will never fade!
hes loved and repected in england all the front and back pages of all the newspappers was devoted to pele ,passing , only nelson mandellar and muhhamed ali received this level of attention ,respect and tribute excluding the queen of england, which should tell you something pele is the greatest ambassador Brazil has ever had i hope he gets the respect he deserves in btazil by monuments ,statues dedicated to his memory befitting his contribution and iconic international global status
I think most Brazilians have no idea the effect Pele had on people far away from Brazil. In his prime every kid in Africa wanted just to be Pele. For the African populace in large Pele was on mythological par with the likes of the Greek gods like Zeus. His name was synonymous with lightening, tornedo or hurricane. He was the mega force, the atomic bomb of football. To Africans when someone mentions Pele there is only one thing that comes to mind BRAZIL... and when someone mentions Brazil, there is only one name that comes to mind PELE! Brazil=Pele and Pele=Brazil. Period! He is the first and last Brazilian to put Brazil right on the world map. Because of Pele Africans till now LOVE and root for the Brazilian team. When Brazil loses in world cup, Africa is in tears and when Brazil wins, the whole Africa is overjoyed. He engraved the Brazilian yellow jersey and the legendary number 10 on every non Brazilian child, man, and woman's mind. On every African country sport radio broadcasts, there was only megastar that controlled the air waves, Pele!. Legend has it that people used to kiss the ground he walked on. I can go on and on about his legends. The words "GOAT" or "King of football" don't do any justice to him. He was bigger than the game itself. He overshadows the entire game. Without him, football has no meaning at all. He is the father and football is just his little kid.
@@goodlife7018 football* but i agree with you but without Football i dont think Pele would have become what he was so you can say Pele and football are twins
One important thing to realize, in Pelé’s time, fields were more rugged, the ball was heavier and red cards weren’t introduced in the World Cup until 1970, so it was a lot more physical than it is today. Tackles that would warrant red cards today were more commonplace back then. In his time, many soccer players did not have too many veteran players to look back on and learn from them. In a way, they did it first. He also existed in a time without social media, color TV and there is not too much footage of him, so a lot of younger generations simply cannot relate and really comprehend how monumental he really was. Pelé is simply the all time goat, and people who undervalue his contributions not only to football but to many other things are for the most part ignorant, delusional or just don’t know what they’re talking about.
He was so slow, and defenders were pathetic slugs, today he would be average. Cruijff was a modern player, not him. He wasn't better than Di Stefano or Garrincha.
@@antoniomello3026 Imagine Haaland and Pelé running lol. He had a technique inferior to Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Neymar, Zidane etc. I will prefer ten times Modric to him. Brazil won because had the best team, not because of him.
I used to think Pelé was overestimated, until i started learning about the game, the evolution of football, watching Pelé games, what he did for the game and how the game changed after him, and it's pretty obvious he is the goat. That doesn't mean i think Messi or other great players are worse than him, i think there are a lot of great players, but none of them impacted the game as much as Pelé.
Okay, so tell me something: why do people form opinions first before even looking at the data? I was arguing with someone who called Pele a speed merchant. Speed wasn't even his top five skills!
My farther is Brazilian and is going to turn 90 years old, so he followed Pele's carrer in its full extend. Once whatching a Champions League match we saw Messi doing a sensational move and score. My old father said: "I am so happy to see that Pelé paved the way for such warriors like Messi. That is what Kings do". RIP and score many goals up there, Pelé. ☝️⚽❤️ Great video! Pelé was one of the reasons Football is the most popular Sport on the planet, he is a symbol, the first Football Star, and not only that he was a unstoppable on the pitch. RIP legend!!!
The most complete player ever. Could do the lot: dribble, pass, shoot, scoring limitless goals. All from both feet. Heading, tackling, free kicks, freestyle skills, prowess. Great in every zone of the pitch. Defense, midfield, forward area's. Just a complete total footballer.

I followed the career of Pelé since he became the youngest player to win a world cup in a brilliant display of skills with the brazilian national team in Sweden 1958 at the age of 17, a record as of today no player has been able to beat. During his career, Pelé was without any doubt the most complete football player the world has seen since football was created, with an extraordinary combination of talents to play football. His international performances with Santos FC and the Brazilian team in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America awed the world converting him in an international celebrity, one of the most popular human beings on earth and an ambassador of the game. Pelé was unique and unrepeatable and can not be compared with any other players because he has always been above the best of all time. My respects to Pelé ' The king of football'. Thank you for this excellent video of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, O Rei Pelé.

I don’t understand how people can disrespect older generations. If you take them away the whole history of the sport changes and many players you enjoy today probably wouldn’t even be playing the sport without the great players that made them want to play in the first place
It's the same way people think that if you go back in time to the middle ages people would just be insanely superstitious and idiotic because they didnt go through organized education. What they lacked was the combined knowledge we have accrued,. They just didnt have as strong of an understanding of the mysteries of what made the world work, which are things we only know because of building on the work they initially laid out for us. What we lack is their penchant for engineering practical solutions and the ability to create without relying on super precise machine tolerances. Humans have always been about as mentally capable as any other generation, give or take a little because of modern nutrition and lack of famines driving the average up a bit.
Pelé is a 20th century icon. At some point during the early 80s, some poll institute declared him the second most popular THING in the entire planet, losing only to "Coca-Cola". He transcended football, hell he even transcended sports. If you create a list to top 10 HUMAN BEINGS of the 20th century, he'd be in the list with the likes of Albert Einstein, Neil Armstrong, Yuri Gagarin, Kennedy, and so on. Please, there is no debate on who's the GREATEST footballer of all time. There just isn't. Now, the "best" footballer, that's a topic for discussion and indeed Messi could claim that title, but only because he was born later, and surely the 2076's Ballon D'or will be the "best" player of all time
I agree on the first part, but I don't think anyone will ever break the 91 goal record Even CR7 who some frauds put into the GOAT debate never managed to bang more than 69.
I wish to congratulate you for your job. Many people disrespect Pelé today because they don't know the status quo of the game at the times he played. Another day I've seen a random guy saying that Pelé's stats in national tournaments are not that good because Brazilian League sucked. All right, he seems to ignore that almost every brazilian champion of the world in 58, 62 and 70 played in Brazil, and that south american and european leagues didn't have the economic abyss they have today, and that playing with south americans or europeans Pelé was absolutely dominant. Every analysis must be made considering the era the footballer played in.
Santos is undoubtedly the most successful team in the world during Pele time. Beat almost all teams during their tour to Europe. Beating the European champion.
Brilliant mate, just another fact, not almost all the players who were champions of 58,62 and 1970 World Cup played in Brazilian league, but simply ALL OF THEM did in fact play in Brazilian leagues. Back then, even though Brazil did already export a few top class players like Evaristo de Macedo (Barça, Real Madrid), the Brazilian confederation scouts did not have enough media coverage from abroad to know how well those players were doing, and, since Brazilian club sides had an overwhelming record against european ones, Brazilian managers simply did not call upon Brazilian players playing abroad in Europe or anywhere outside Brazil. That only started for the seleção already in the 80ies, when plenty of it's top stars went to play on Serie A (Italy) and that tournament got TV coverage and was broadcasted to Brazil.
There was no single Brazilian league at the time. Until (I think) 1971, it was only the state championships. Maybe they had a round of playoffs to determine an overall champion, but Brazil was too big and too poor to sustain a nationwide round-robin tournament. While I've little doubt that the best teams in the Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo state leagues were every bit as good as their European equivalents back then, it may be that those competitions did not have the same depth. (I have no idea whether that's true or not; but the fact that Didi, Garrincha et al played in those competitions doesn't change the fact that it may be. The highest level of play in those competitions must have been excellent, but that tells us nothing about the lowest or the middling.)
Pele played in a time where it is much easier to score goals, and Pele never played in Europe, plus he never won a single Ballon D Or which messi won 8 times.
They say in practice he'd play GK but without using his hands. He'd stop the ball with his feet, his head, with bicycle kicks even, and sometimes it would be way harder to score on him, than on the team's designated goalkeeper.
There are some great stories about Pele's career you didn't have time to mention. Pele was also a great goalie, 4 times when the goalie got injured and theres was no substitute, Pele stood up and put the gloves. In the four times, his team won and he suffered no goals Once Pele went for a match in Colombia, it was an event, stadium full of people to see him play, but then in the middle of the game, Pele complained with the referee and the referee gave hom the equivalent of a red card. There was comotion in the field, the crowd went crazy, the game had to be stopped, chaos ensued, but then, the match promoters decided to bring Pele back and replaced the referee with the linesman. Also, when Pele was on the verge of scoring the 1000th goal, he kicked the ball and a defender saved the goal at the final line, after the goalie was already beaten. The supporters of the defender's team scolded him for the rest of his career for stopping Peles 1000th goal at that moment, and erasing them from history as the team that would forever be know for being the KING scored his 1000th goal.
@@BlazeBuds It was to make the crowd happy. As you must've seen in the video, when Santos went on tour, it was an event. They were like the Globethrotters They stopped a war to see him play. Imagine thousands of fans waiting to see the King of football play on your town agaisnt the local team, and then the ref red card him before half-time? It was an exhibition match.
That is the main problem a lot of stories are exaggerated or not possible to prove. Why would any goals scored in an exhibition match where you cannot be sent off and the crowd turn on the opposition team if they save a goal be seen as serious? Nice to watch a brilliant player but I am sure they don't count all the baskets scored by the globe trotters as in exhibition matches as valid for a players career. As to the myth they stopped the war in Nigeria, they played the game in Lagos SW Nigeria -- the Biafran war was 400 miles away in SW Nigeria so how did some players claim to hear gunfire as their plane took off? There are no records of the supposed cease which is claimed as a the length of the match, a day, 2 days, a week by assorted stories.
I'm glad that you showed Pele the respect he deserves. As Isaac Netwon said, "The reason I can see farther is because I stood on the shoulders of giants." Similarly Pele popularized (I wouldn't say invented) 90% of all the skill moves you see players do today. He completely changed the sport. I wouldn't say that he was the best player that ever lived, but how much worse would our standards be if it wasn't for him?
Have you actually seen him playing? He was definitely the best top skilled player ever. The man pulled literally every move you’ve ever saw Ronaldo, Messi and CR7 do but 50yrs early which makes it even more impressive.
@@Nicolau_Flamelaside from all his available highlights, i saw most of Pele’s World Cup games in their entirety. I saw Pele as a 17 year old receive a high pass with his knee outside the box and volley it into the bottom corner before it hit the ground. I haven’t seen another player with so much skill at that age aside from Maradona. Pele, Garrincha, and Dida particularly stood out in that 1958 World Cup. I personally think Maradona had more ball control and skill than Pele. I respect Pele for doing a lot of things first, but that doesn’t mean he did it the best. Messi seems like he might have a little more skill than Pele too, but I would never try to belittle Pele’s accomplishments or skills.
From what I learned, the skill moves Pelé used was a martial arts brazilians practiced with the ball so he did not really invent it, he re introduced and solidified it's standing.
I would love if you could make a video about Roberto Dinamite, since he just passed away. It is really sad that he isn’t better known outside of Brazil, he was Zico’s greatest rival but also one of his best friends. He is still the all time top scorer of the Brazilian League. Thanks!
He is the most complete Footballer who has ever lived. Pace. Vision. Awareness. Two-footed. Finishing. Passing. Heading. Tackling. Unselfish. Wasn't the designated penalty taker, to boost his record. And he was carved out of diamond! 3 World Cups. Athlete of the Century award. Footballer of the Century award. Honourary KBE. Stopped a war. National treasure status in Brazil. Brought Football to the USA. 1250 career goals. 100 percent goal ratio against European opposition. Youngest ever World Cup winner. Youngest ever to score international hat-trick. How much more evidence do you all want?! Maradona. Messi. Ronaldo. Battle for second. There is no-one close to Pele!
Saying Pelé could not survive today is like saying Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Liszt, Chopin or Paganini could not compete with today’s top composers, violinists and pianists. It’s just a stupid statement.
eh kinda apples and oranges for examples. All of those guys could still be great classical composers but whether they could make the jump to the modern electric soundscape with different styles of music, where they would achieve similar fame to their historical identity, is something that is conjecture. Pele played the same soccer they play today, with minor rule adjustments. Its not a matter of how good people are comparing one era to the other, its a matter of how dominant someone was against their peers because that tells us how exceptional they were as a player. Pele today would have access to modern medicine, training and nutrition information, but so would his peers as well. If he remained as dominant vs the average today as he was then he definitely would be giving Messi and CR7 some problems for the Ballon D'or.
Twelve days after Pelé’s death another idol of the Brazilian football passed away ! With 190 goals, Roberto dinamite was the greatest killer of all times to the Brazilian League ! It’s a mark which hardly will be surpassed ! Practically unknown out of his homeland, Dinamite deserved a video of his own !!!

I'm so proud, so happy to hear those words, so emotional... Pelé was a giant, Brazil and the world should and will gave him better recognition as the legend he was. Thanks for what you made to humanity, King!
For those saying pele is overrated just because he played back then, people in 50 years will say the same thing about Messi and Ronaldo. No way is he overrated. If he’s overrated, then Messi and Ronaldo are as well.
Pele is the King of Football period. I'm an Italian supporter and I know Pele is the greatest as many of our ex national team greats have said such about him!
Great italian defenders like Giovanni Trappatoni (who faced him in Milan x Santos) or Facchetti (in 70 final) have always said he wasn't from this world.
Pelé was a genius. Like a Chopin or Einstein, he could do things that his pairs could not. We can talk about how different the game was at his time, but this is not important... at his time, he was decades ahead. Everybody, everywhere, knows Brazil because of Pelé, and everyone that saw him playing knows he was the GOAT, without a single doubt. Nobody will win 3 world cups as he did, again... More than a player, he was a MYTH, his stories are the fabric the legends are made of...
Imagine being THE Pelé at a World Cup where yellow and red cards didnt exist. That was 1962 and 1966 for him and that almost made him give up on world cups. Those guys were seriously trying to injure him, and that could cost his career.
Could Pele do what he did then, now? Absolutely. They had worse pitches, worse equipment and at the time, referees didn’t protect attackers like they do now. Now, Messi getting clipped by one of those tackles would never get in those boots again. Amazing player, don’t get me wrong, but the leagues of Pele? No chance. Messi could never play in those conditions, however he would run rings round players, the physicality would take its toll on him. But, we don’t need to divide anyone. To be that privileged to see both is amazing. Pele will forever be one of those players that transcends the sport.
Pelé is most responsible for the evolution of football. Because of him, opposing coaches needed to improve their tactics, to find a better way to mark him. Everything Messi, CR7 and others do today, Pelé already did 50 years ago. Without a doubt, he is the best football player of all time.
Pelé was a superstar, actually, more than a superstar, loved by the entire world, he changed not only Futebol but also countries, no one will ever be as great as Pelé, and i dont mean only in Futebol. Pelé was a player who played his last game as if it were his first, played every game as if it were his only opportunity to win, among many that insisted on appearing throughout his brilliant career.
The man who could score any type of goal against any type of opposition, Provide any type of assist, do any type of skill and Dribble like every footballer in history! The King! Most completed Footballer ever!
Youre actually describing Messi, or did you ever see Pele play on the right Midfield, or s a False 9? Messi played at every offensive position that exists on a at least World Class Level or lets say on a messi Level, which means no one ever reached that. Messi is the best passer and playmaker by far, the best dribbler by far in the history of the sport and the fastest one on top of that. And with that i dont mean just running a straight line with the ball as fast as possible and hoping to pass 1-2 players maximum. I mean real dribbling with changing directions with unbelivable timing, simply as efficient as possible while outdribbling up to 5-6 defenders, the whole defence actually, and on top of that scoring a spectacular goal, like the lobs over the GK that Messi does, no one in the History of the Sport has as much the so calle "chip" over the GK goals, which needs so much ball control, timing and and also cojones. Pretty much every footballer is already happy to do that once or twice in their careers, Messi has done that at least 50 times. Plu i cant recall even a single time where he failed to do it. His ball control is just otherwordly, no matter what he is doing, and thats what separates him from anyone else. But i stop here, allthough i could write hours about Messis superior skills and the reason why he is easily the greatest, the best footballler of all time. I watch Football since a lil over 40 years, my first years watching was about in 1980/81, so fact is ive seen a lot of great player come and go, but no one ever impressed me as Messi did. And i already said about 10 years ago that he is the GOAT, him winning the WC had no influence on that. Also, Pele is obviously one of the greatest, easily Top 5, if not top 3. Some peole will think i have something against pele just because i dont share their opinions, which is total bullshit. Why should i have anything aginst one of the very best, most skilled, revolutionizing, and one of the most laid back and humble men to ever live.... Siempre Pele I hope he and Senna and Ali and Maradonna and all the other greats have a terrific time up there :)

I remember a line when I was watching a cricket debate on Sachin vs Don bradman, the guy said "Great players will perform great irrespective of the generation they are born because it's all about the mindset".
France Football magazine, which presents the Ballon d'Or trophy for the 'footballer of the year' said that Pele would have won 7 Ballon d'Ors if it was presented to non-Europeans during his time. And IF Pele had been allowed to play in Europe, it probably would have been even more. 3 World Cup wins with 12 goals in 14 games (Messi = 13 goals, mostly penalties in 26 games). Pele - youngest World Cup winner & scorer at age 17. Declared a National Treasure by Brazil & not allowed to play for European clubs. Nigeria & Biafra officially stopped their war for 48 hours to watch Pele (with Santos) play the Nigerian National team (the Super Eagles) in Lagos. No footballer can be compared to Pele the GOAT & the only sportsperson that can be compared is Mohammed Ali.
Messi has won 7. Pele would have won more than 7 if he had been permitted to play for European clubs, Pele has won 3 World Cups, Messi 1. The discussion ended long ago ... in 1958 World Cup, when Pele aged 17 scored 6 (including 2 in the finals) actual goals, not just penalties, which is what most of Messi's WC goals are, so .... end of discussion.
Interesting how they never consider the opposite. They never wonder how Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo would do in that era. You can only analyze how great a player is by comparing his distance to the other players of his generation. Pelé's distance to other footballers of that time far surpasses that of Messi or Ronaldo to other players of the current generation.

He used to tell me stories about the games at that time and how amazing it was. I thought he was "overreacting", so I decided to search by myself and I was very impressed by his achievements. And as someone who watches football since the end of 90s, I think Pele was probably the best ever.
Hey, don't forget that in his era, there was no super technology involved on uniform and ball manufacturing. If you pay attention, you will see the terrible fields conditions, in many cases. Forget the dedicated nutritionist care, as we see today, forget a super technologic training center, etc, etc and etc... For all these reasons ( and many others ), Pelé is the supreme king of football and timeless. R.I.P., KING!
I don't care what people say, even as kids before we get into sports, dive deep into anything really, there only a few names that first stand out, a few icons that are memorized by everyone. In football the first 3 names I learned were, Pele, Maradona and Zidane. In basketball, it would be Jordan, Johnson and Abdul-Jabbar. In F1 it would be Senna, Schumacher and Lauda. People nowadays tend to downplay those great legends but the fact that their names still ring in our ears so many decades later is the clear sign of their achievements.
Even as a brazilian, I thought F1 cars were called "Schumacher" when I was a kid. I didn't even know he was actually a piloto until I grow up. Still, Senna was my biggest idol in the sport, man was the fastest.
I had the privilege, along with my brother of providing security for Pelé for a charity event in Batersea , UK. They were showing some of his footage on the big screen . I could see in much more detail than I'd seen before . He used to play one two off of his opponents legs ! ... if he was playing on the kind of "carpet" they play on these days ? And if he played in Europe so others couldn't cast doubt? There would be no doubt .. for me , as much I admire Messi , Maradona ( who are the only 2 to came close ) Pelé is the the GOAT 🐐
pele doesnt play football he is the football pele invented what the defination of football the love of this game king of the kings and he will remain for the eternity
People today say Messi is not human. Pele was the same. Opposition players would say he is just human and find out the contrary. Ferenc Puskas declared Alfredo di Stefano was the greatest player, omitting Pele because he was beyond human.
The physics of the players in that times were crazy. Brazil had like 11 Drogbas running around. Okat I am exaggerating but dont underestimate how powerful these players were
The players were physically weaker back then, thats just plain wrong. People in general were smaller. They didnt have access to the diet or training regimens of today and a for a lot of them football was a side hustle instead of a full time job, there was less money in the sport.
@@caralho5237 People were the same then. Nothing has changed. There's more money now and the training is better, but humans haven't changed. Pele could have played and excelled in any era.
Yep so true. He played with the best team ever. So winning 3 world cups is great, but they weren't just his achievements, that team was unstoppable even without him
I was blessed to see Pele playing live as a Master. He was pure magic. The impact he had on the game and the World is beyond comprehension. There was no social media, TVs were scarce, and yet he is know in the entire planet. One thing the video forgot to mentioned is that red cards were introduced after the 1966 World Cup because Pele was chased and hit every time he touch the ball to the point he couldn’t even walk after the matches.
And even stuff they don't such as the pass to the opossing defender in order to bounce the ball back to himself. Even today players are comming up with new plays only to people finding out later that Pele was doing it 60+ years prior. He was simply so mindbogingly ridiculously ahead of the rest he virtually seems outside of time.
6:33 Should note that the reason Pelé didn't play the first two matches is because he was still injured. Despite being an injured 17 years old, he still got a call up. He was that good.
Pelé is the goat. He won everything, he did everything, he was a machine. We brazilians will always miss these times, we had the best football in the world, our teams were the best, before the europeans empty our competition by buying our best talents. Our Seleção was the greatest too, our dominance was the stuff of legends, even the Seleções that lose are imortal like the 82’s team, or we’re literally robbed like 78’s. Now it all crumbled, our league struggle and even our richest clubs can’t compete with europeans, our talent pool is as shallow as ever was, and every talented player is co-opted young and never have the chance to develop as a brazilian player, the flair, the talent gave place to the physicality and we lost our edge, to make things worse since 82 brazilians tend to prefer results over talent and our Seleção suffered because this. I hope that our league and national team can be great again, but without huge changes I can see Brasil football starting to fade away.
The sad part about this is that even here in Brazil at least half of the younger audience tend to say he was/is overrated and some even celebrated his death because of some things about his personal life. This apparently has been a trend in recent years, especially with people who use twitter. They try to take away the importance of huge icons like Michael Jackson by saying that he "wasn't all that". Sad to say the least...
great video. Here in Brazil, Pelé's name was recognised as part of the dictionary as an adjective for 'the best in his area', because for decades its been common for us to say 'this guy is the Pelé of bascketball' or 'the Pelé of dancing' whenever some one was realy good in what they were donig.
The king man loved this as a 91 child who watched his football training vid everyday. My father is 63 and to this day he sais not another player like him, i always agreed but after watching this i can fully see why, what a legend
There's a video that that is players doing some skill moves, that Pelé previously did, despite him playing in the 60s and 70s. The man is just legendary, 2 goals in WC final with 17 years, free kick goals with both feet, a header menace, despite being 1,70m tall, the only player to ever win three World Cup finals, the man that paused a war in Nigeria just cus he went there to play. He is the biggest player of Santos history, by far. He won 5 Brazilian Championship titltes with them, their first five. After Pelé, it took them another 34 years to win it again. He won Two Libertadores, Santos won it again just 48 years later. He was champion of the world against Eusebio's Benfica and Milan. Pelé was the WC all time goal scorer before Ronaldo Nazário and Klose. Pelé ran (like Usain Bolt) so Neymar could walk. Pelé was so disruptive for his time, he seems like a player from the 1990s or 2000s, even though he played in the 60s and early 70s. He was strong, fast, had no weakfoot, header menace in the box, a complete player. Imagine if Pelé played with today's Medicine? He would be even bigger than he his. He was a true legend of the game, he is the biggest player of the biggest nation of football. Please, have some respect on him
In Brazil, Pelé is a word that means "being the best in a given field", as in "This guy is the Pelé of heart surgery", "That guy was the Pelé of judo" etc.
My father used to tell me that in a Santos match the goalkeeper received a red card and Pelé took his place. and that day he did very well, he even saved a penalty.
Something people who compares Pele to newer player forgot: there was no red card until 1970. So todays players couldn't endure the beating that Pele endured just for being Pele. The south american games was real slaughter to good players. Their careers would be finished before even started.
No cards and subs, there is the reason Pelé was the official player to replace Santos and Brazil goalkeeper . Sure it began few years after 58, total games during his career it happen 7 times.
The disrespect this man got on social media in recent years was disgraceful. He's the giant whose shoulders all players that came after stand on.

Changing the way the game play don't make a player the goat johan cruyff also change the game but he is not considered the greatest.

Spot on mate
Bro even played as a goalkeeper, he was the goat at every aspect 💀
They say in practice he'd play GK but without using his hands. He'd stop the ball with his feet, his head, with bicycle kicks even, and sometimes it would be way harder to score on him, than on the team's designated goalkeeper.
There are some great stories about Pele's career you didn't have time to mention. Pele was also a great goalie, 4 times when the goalie got injured and theres was no substitute, Pele stood up and put the gloves. In the four times, his team won and he suffered no goals
Once Pele went for a match in Colombia, it was an event, stadium full of people to see him play, but then in the middle of the game, Pele complained with the referee and the referee gave hom the equivalent of a red card.
So because he has a cry to the ref and gets punished, they just take the ref off to make him happy. What a little biatch
The last thing was a bit harsh
These stories just make his career seem more unserious😬
I'm glad that you showed Pele the respect he deserves. As Isaac Netwon said, "The reason I can see farther is because I stood on the shoulders of giants." Similarly Pele popularized (I wouldn't say invented) 90% of all the skill moves you see players do today. He completely changed the sport. I wouldn't say that he was the best player that ever lived, but how much worse would our standards be if it wasn't for him?
Have you actually seen him playing? He was definitely the best top skilled player ever.

Pelé was a superstar, actually, more than a superstar, loved by the entire world, he changed not only Futebol but also countries, no one will ever be as great as Pelé, and i dont mean only in Futebol.
Rest in Piece Pele, even if the entire world forgot you, we from Brasil shall never forget you... 🌹👦🏿🇧🇷
Thanks bro for what u have done for Pelé in this video, your text and narration almost brought tears to my eyes, the respect and love that u showed for our legend are admirable and kind, I guess you were the right person in the right moment to show with such a classy script who was Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé, congrats for this awesome video and awesome channel, Brazil supports you from now!
He changed the game for ever. The greatest of all time. KING PELÉ
Pelé was a player who played his last game as if it were his first, played every game as if it were his only opportunity to win, among many that insisted on appearing throughout his brilliant career.
Lá se foi a maior última lenda do século... descanse em paz Rei Pelé 🥇👑🏆🏆🏆
Great video mate!
RIP to Pele.
Gone, never forgotten!!!
Siempre Pele
I hope he and Senna and Ali and Maradonna and all the other greats have a terrific time up there :)
@@A-m-K Pele is the only footballer who had no weaknesses to his game. Messi is a great player but for example here are his weaknesses: Defensive contribution, Weak Ariel game, One-footed, Technically very limited in terms of passing etc. Pele played deeper than Messi in his career and wasn't a centre forward or false 9.
@@A-m-Kyou wrote a whole thesis to let us know that you never watched Pele play.
If Messi is that great how come he only won 1 world cup at the age of 35?? Why it took him so long to finally win a world cup (one which people are saying was rigged due to the 5 penalties awarded to him)?. And out of 5 Copa America Tournaments, he only won 1 in 2021 (actually his team did - he didn't score 1 single goal in that match). Plus, rumors say he uses Growth Hormones which gives you tremendous energy and enhances performance. And this is cheating.
@@A-m-K Pelé could play much better defensively than Messi. Sometimes he could play like a CDM.
I believe every generation wants to see the GOAT, and it will always generate new discussions, but his greatness can never be questioned. Great video.
To be the greatest ever player of the greatest ever footballing nation during their greatest ever period cements GOAT status
The near perfect player of all time..the king had speed, kicked the ball from any angle with easy and power using both legs..On heading the ball he used to hang in the air a la MJ..his vertical leap was amazing. I did see him on a game and score on a heading over a defender much taller than him..almost no flaws as a player..RIP the King..the King of soccer for ever.
Pelé was the ultimate. There will never be anything like him. I love Cristiano and Messi, but I just think Pelé will always be him.
Pele won 3 World Cups without the help of FIFA, Refs and the media. The real GOAT.
If you think any other player is the GOAT then pele is the GOD.

His life was so beautiful.
Thank you Pele!
I met him in a bookstore back home in Chicago. He was just looking at books. He said, "Nobody knows me here." To tell the truth, I only knew because of this huge deal he signed with the New York Cosmos.
It's a place that doesn't care much about football, real football I mean
@@gannielukks1811 Yep. I watched futbol along with golf and hockey a little as a kid, but I just couldn't get into them. I watched Pele when he was on the Cosmos. I'd give any sport a shot, but for me, American football, basketball, baseball and tennis are what stuck. I saw him in the mid 90s so he must have been in his 50s.
As a Brazillian from Santos, thank you, for showing love for our king, seeing him get disrespected really breaks my heart, his legacy will always live on ♥👑
@@user-rh1qe6gs5jiu8 i will never understand these people... they just join the messi or cr7 crowd and pretend like they even understand football, pele was an amazing player, so was ronaldinho, why cant we just respect players for their uniqueness and talent instead of trying to compare the same two players who are different in every way possible

The only ones making disrespect are the cowards and liars. Do not feel bad. It is pure envy and hatred. He came from Brasil and not their nation. It makes them angry. I watch Pele and shake my head, to see the greatest ever. Me? I just a normal man. I am not Pele.
King 👑 pele is football and football is pele
Messi has won more than 7 I believe so end of discussion
Messi has won 7. Pele would have won more than 7 if he had been permitted to play for European clubs, Pele has won 3 World Cups, Messi 1. The discussion ended long ago ... in 1958 World Cup, when Pele aged 17 scored 6 (including 2 in the finals) actual goals, not just penalties, which is what most of Messi's WC goals are, so .... end of discussion.

Anyone who thinks Pele couldn't do it now are just casuals.

@@SqueakyMcdonald It wasn’t just these 2 guys that tried to end messis career with fouls there were many many times he survived career ending tackles, I think that it‘s a wonder how good messi got away with all the dirty tactics. Probably also one of the most resilient players ever, so whether or not messi could have played as good during peles times it doesn’t matter much since nobody can tell if pele would have been the player he was during todays era. Too many differences to compare. Shit pitches, shit balls applied to all players, don‘t forget that it‘s not like pele was the only player that had to adapt to his circumstances. Imo it‘s more difficult to achieve the things messi achieved simply because of better average quality of football that is played today which is also the reason he‘s the greatest ever in my eyes. I watched him and ronaldo play, but I can only see from clips what to think about pele. In my opinion he‘s overall top 3 for sure but not top1 but everyone can have their own opinion.
It's offensive when people compare him. And it's and absolute disgrace when they think Cr7 and messi is above him. when you combine CR7's score, agility, header, bicycle, influence and messi's assist, dribble, IQ you get pele.
true that! mix all the colours you have its gonna be black
in spite of an insane Maradona fan, I still consider, PELE is the KING and he is undoubtedly the greatest of all time. Light years ahead of so-called money-lover-club-centric players.

I feel so angry whenever I see people downplaying Pele, especially this young generation who doesn't know a thing about him and believes in everything the internet says.I wasn't born in Pele's time, but my father was and he watched Pele playing in many matches with Santos. He used to tell me stories about the games at that time and how amazing it was. I thought he was "overreacting", so I decided to search by myself and I was very impressed by his achievements. And as someone who watches football since the end of 90s, I think Pele was probably the best ever.
O rei descansa en paz leyenda

THE KING. BRUTAL TALENT
Man... you made me cry :( Thanks for this video.
The GOAT did things 60 years ago that footballers do now
And even stuff they don't such as the pass to the opossing defender in order to bounce the ball back to himself.
I love your channel man. Literally the best football channel on earth
great video. Here in Brazil, Pelé's name was recognised as part of the dictionary as an adjective for 'the best in his area', because for decades its been common for us to say 'this guy is the Pelé of bascketball' or 'the Pelé of dancing' whenever some one was realy good in what they were donig.
Your amazing for making this!! WELL DONE!!!!!

Thanks so much for this documentary. Kids of today are so disrespectful. Pele is the original GOAT. The King of football.
Rest easy O’ Rei once again a banger from lucas
Please, have some respect on him
Pelé the eternal King of football.. Pelé the real GOAT
At 17, he scored 58 goals, it's incredible......

The GOAT of GOATS
Pele the king of all kings
In Brazil, Pelé is a word that means "being the best in a given field", as in "This guy is the Pelé of heart surgery", "That guy was the Pelé of judo" etc.
I understand people saying Pelé is not GOAT but even suggest that he is a "fraud" is just unacceptable.
Thank you for doing this! The greatest of the great!
My father used to tell me that in a Santos match the goalkeeper received a red card and Pelé took his place. and that day he did very well, he even saved a penalty.
Espetacular! Marvelous video!
