The presence of Borussia Dortmund in the Champions Final this year (despite not being in the best form of the Bundesliga) and Bayer Leverkusen's incredible season under Xabi Alonso (ironically, he was the scorer of Spain during 1-5 humiliation vs the Netherlands), potentially winning the Invincible Treble (Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, Europa League) showed that the Bundesliga is one of the best league in Europe. For example doing tricks, nutmegs etc. He told the whole team that whoever does that will be subbed out immediately and will NOT play in the final. No matter the name. Was a huge respect moment. That and the teams behavior in their camp (like meeting with natives, eating with them and watching Brazil games together) was a reason why they were beloved in Brazil even after the 7-1.
I was in Germany with my family on holiday 2014. We were visiting friends and to be able to watch the game with my buddy and his co-workers was unreal!
fun fact is that Jogi löw told the Germans to play worse in the second half because the were already leading with 5 goals and played against the home team to not humiliate them even more
yeah, you could tell by the way we played, still forward trying to score goals. But I can honestly say that myself and all the other Germans that were watching this game with me, we stopped really celebrating after the 4th goal. We truly felt sorry for Brazil.
very good summary of this amazing tournament. I really felt the nostalgia creeping up on this one. cant believe that it is already 10 years ago. looking back on it now, we ( I am German ) didnt even play such a good tournament, except for that historic victory against brazil. If we didnt have Manuel Neuer as a goal keeper, I strongly believe we would not have won the world cup. Again, great video my friend, keep up the good work. Lots of love and respect from Germany!
I feel the 2nd yellow card Thiago Silva was reason for brazilian nightmare 7-1. He is the captain, strategizer for defense, and Dante replace him not playing a game at that level. They were so nervous n disorganized.
@@eingeist21no doubt but if they had thiago silva nd neymar it’s a way closer game, almost as if they had given up but regardless i feel like columbia deserved it more yepes got denied a goal
They even have a saying, "its a 7-1 day" when you have a terrible day. That match has solidified as one of the greatest cultural humiliations in recent times.
I was in Germany visiting my family for like two months during this summer. When I tell you it was the best trip of my life I’m not lying. Watching Germany just dominate and ultimately bringing home the trophy was unreal. When they beat Argentina we went out on the streets and let me tell you it was PACKED. I was still young but it didn’t matter. We were out all night just celebrating with the rest of them. At that time it felt like everyone was united. No worry or thought in sight. Just pure joy and celebration. A once in a lifetime experience I’ll never forget.
Brazil vs Germany: Theres someone to mention: In german TV there was an interview shown, in which german pedestrians were asked to predict the outcome. Theres a clip of an interview with a young guy: Interviewer: Do you think we can beat the brazilians today? Guy, holding a pizza: Yes, indeed! Interviewer: And with how many goals? This was the first world cup I watched. It was the tournament that made me fall in love with this beautiful sport, and as a Colombian, it was truly special. Thanks for bringing back this memories ❤
I remember watching Germany-Brazil with my gf at the time, we were home because we weren't feeling well enough to go out and watch with others. For whatever reason our livestream was lagging behind by a few minutes, and with the windows open, we could hear the public viewing event that took place a bit up the road from my apartment. So every time Germany scored, the people at the event cheered, more or less "spoiling" the game for us. I vividly remember the look of disbelief on my gf's face, the cheers came in so rapidly, but for us it was still 1-0 for a while. I'll never forget that, it was an incredible experience.
Because it already had: 1. Netherlabds vs Spain matchup after 2010, Van Persie Header and 5-1 for Revenge 2. Portugal premature Group stage exit 3. The Historic 7-1 against Brazil on their soil 4. People watching Neymar as rising star and he got out on injuries 5. And Finally, now they Appreciate Messi at least reaching the World Cup Final. Because he ultimately won it 8 years later making much more of a Fairy tale. So it doesnt hurt much. And the Germans won And the Songs like : Magic in the Air and Jennifer Lopez/Pitbull song was fire. Shakira's La La La song was just fine. The opening of 2014 WC was also cool with nostalgic feeling already. The Weather was great to look even on TV

From a Brazilian fan, Despite the 7-1, I don't think I'll ever feel the atmosphere and amazing energy that the 2014 World Cup transmitted, In another World Cup, Everything was so beautiful, The fans wearing Brazilian shirts, With their faces painted green and yellow, The streets all decorated, In short, Depite the tragedy on the field, I'll never feel in another World Cup what I felt in 2014
I love how this guy says 'eliminated' 😅 great video, awesome tournament too. The story goes that Shurlle was in the toilet during the team talk and did not hear the manager say that they should take it easy and not humiliate Brazil
Great video! Sometimes if I can’t sleep I just put on random 2014 WC games in the background. It’s probably the fact it’s the first WC I actively watched, but something about that whole tournament still feels so special.
I remember, the save on Benzema's volley at 16:54, french casters (who was Bixente Lizarazu, ex-teammate of Didier Deschamps in France, who won WC1998 and euro 2000 with him) said "OH THE CROSSBAR" then we had the review, and we all saw in disbelief that it was Neuer's hand. This man was completely unbeatable. They had a wonderful team, i wasn't even pissed that we didnt get through'em (unlike Euro 2020 when we sabotage ourself vs Switzerland in 1/8 finals)
From today exactly 10 years ago 2014 wc final played what the memories of that wc I am in 2nth standard that time I can t forget those beautiful memories Thanku ❤

We need this to continue as a series going backwards in time! This was the first WC I was old enough to care to watch, would love to heard about the ones before this!
As a German, I'll never forget the surreal mixed feelings experience of dumb joy over that blowout win and empathy for the millions of sad Brazillians who just watched their team and hopes disintegrate.
Something to note: Colombia had a goal disallowed against Colombia because it was "offside" at the 65th minute, but people went back and proved it should've been allowed. I still wonder what would've happened if the refs hadn't blown the whistle as a mistake...
Great vid! Hearing it narrated in a Brazilian accent, the Kings of football, really added to it all. That semi-final will always be remembered as the most shocking scoreline in a WC as the giants never get thrashed like that. I read some where, the German players in the dressing room at halftime, being 5-0 up, knowing the match was done with that scoreline, spoke about not disgracing the Brazilians further, whether true or not IDK, but they did come out in the 2nd half as if there was some truth to that. Goetze goal was sublime but that Brz-Germany game stole the headlines of that tournament. Losing Neymar & Silva for the semi, was the writing on the wall that it just wasn't meant to be for the hosts. Only for a Theirry Henry handball, Ireland would've have been there, for I would have loved to seen the joyous Irish fans mixing with the carnival joy of the Brazilians. But for me the most thrilling WC game ever, was the 2022 WC final of Argentina v France. It had so many subplots, amongst them the Messi/Mbappe match up, Messi's last WC (?), Frnace the defending champions, Mbappe scoring a hatrick, it was just electrifying entertainment! It was the last game of football my dad ever watched, what a sporting memory to take with you.
Great summary. I would add Faryd Mondragon from Colombia participating in the last group stage match to take the record of the oldest player in WC history, sadly for him the record just lasted him 4 years but it was a good moment...
Without messi, that Argentina team wouldn’t pass group stage. He was directly involved 75% of Argentinas goals, and often helped in defence. He was by far the best player of that World cup.
As a german guy I can say nothing can ever beat the 2014 world cup. Being 15 seeing all my childhood football legends play together in one team for the last time. The surprising 7-1 against brazil that still feels unreal. The extendet final round that was decided by a penalty battle (idk what you guys call "Elfmeterschießen"). And celebrating with family and friends while watching our team waving the trophy.
That goal from Goetze... Not only was it a left kick while he was a right sided person. No the precision it needs to hit something like that is unbelievable

Was a huge respect moment. That and the teams behavior in their camp (like meeting with natives, eating with them and watching Brazil games together) was a reason why they were beloved in Brazil even after the 7-1.
whats the name of the documentary?
I was in Germany with my family on holiday 2014. We were visiting friends and to be able to watch the game with my buddy and his co-workers was unreal!
fun fact is that Jogi löw told the Germans to play worse in the second half because the were already leading with 5 goals and played against the home team to not humiliate them even more
That’s not true it’s made up but a polemic newspaper
yeah, you could tell by the way we played, still forward trying to score goals. But I can honestly say that myself and all the other Germans that were watching this game with me, we stopped really celebrating after the 4th goal. We truly felt sorry for Brazil.
He told them to stay professional and focused and if anyone deared to make a fool of the Brazilians, he'd be subbed off immediately.
@@youtubeuser6978 Wasn't there a real worry of attacks on the Germans by angry brazillians if the execution continued?
very good summary of this amazing tournament.
This is and will be my Favorite World Cup!
probably cuz it was your last knockout stage of a world cup you will never reach the ro16
I feel the 2nd yellow card Thiago Silva was reason for brazilian nightmare 7-1. He is the captain, strategizer for defense, and Dante replace him not playing a game at that level. They were so nervous n disorganized.
I agree!!
Germany would've won either way
Don’t forget Neymar’s injury
@@eingeist21yeah but not 7-1
@@eingeist21no doubt but if they had thiago silva nd neymar it’s a way closer game, almost as if they had given up but regardless i feel like columbia deserved it more yepes got denied a goal
It's been 10 years and Brazil still havent really bounced back from that 1-7 game against Germany
and so did Germany lol
They even have a saying, "its a 7-1 day" when you have a terrible day. That match has solidified as one of the greatest cultural humiliations in recent times.
@@PokeFan28 we are sorry you see it hat why, in germany it is the opposite of that.

Theres a clip of an interview with a young guy:
Interviewer: Do you think we can beat the brazilians today?
Guy, holding a pizza: Yes, indeed!
Interviewer: And with how many goals?
Guy: That‘s gonna be a crispy 7-1!
Brazilian dude who was also there: 7-1? For Brazil, yes!
Here‘s the clip: ua-cam.com/video/k0C2n_zk6oY/v-deo.htmlsi=SbKUNqi2KOO3j-ZM
This was the first world cup I watched. It was the tournament that made me fall in love with this beautiful sport, and as a Colombian, it was truly special. Thanks for bringing back this memories ❤
Really nice recap ❤ Was really fun to watch all the way through ❤️🔥
I remember watching Germany-Brazil with my gf at the time, we were home because we weren't feeling well enough to go out and watch with others.
Germany was simply unbeatable that WC
What I find interesting is that after 2022 a lot of people go back to this one and call it the best world cup ever. Funny I wonder why XD
Because it already had:
1. Netherlabds vs Spain matchup after 2010, Van Persie Header and 5-1 for Revenge
2. Portugal premature Group stage exit
3. The Historic 7-1 against Brazil on their soil
4. People watching Neymar as rising star and he got out on injuries
5. And Finally, now they Appreciate Messi at least reaching the World Cup Final. Because he ultimately won it 8 years later making much more of a Fairy tale. So it doesnt hurt much. And the Germans won
And the Songs like : Magic in the Air and Jennifer Lopez/Pitbull song was fire. Shakira's La La La song was just fine. The opening of 2014 WC was also cool with nostalgic feeling already.
The Weather was great to look even on TV
@@daredevil6145Waving Flag in 2010 is the best world cup song ever tho
@@BlackParade01 yeah, not gonna debate that haha
That and Waka Waka both.
But 2014's song vibes comes Top 3 close or 2nd for a lot of people. That and hosted in Brazil already took the cake
2014 World Cup was my first world cup ever! Watching it at 8 years old 😊
Costa Rica’s run in the world cup was nothing ever seen before
Really liked those crazy/unexpected score sheets. Like Netherlands 5 - 1 Spain and Germany 7 - 1 Brazil.
From a Brazilian fan,
Despite the 7-1,
I don't think I'll ever feel the atmosphere and amazing energy that the 2014 World Cup transmitted,
In another World Cup,
Everything was so beautiful,
The fans wearing Brazilian shirts,
With their faces painted green and yellow,
The streets all decorated,
In short,
Depite the tragedy on the field,
I'll never feel in another World Cup what I felt in 2014
I love how this guy says 'eliminated' 😅 great video, awesome tournament too. The story goes that Shurlle was in the toilet during the team talk and did not hear the manager say that they should take it easy and not humiliate Brazil
Thanks haha
Great video! Sometimes if I can’t sleep I just put on random 2014 WC games in the background. It’s probably the fact it’s the first WC I actively watched, but something about that whole tournament still feels so special.
2014 FIFA World Cup is the Best tournament in the entire World Cup history. 🇩🇪💖
🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️so wrong to discount over half a century of World Cup football to say this outrageous statement
@@dcole4741they're kids bro
The upsets this year were crazy. Spain getting spanked 6-0 and brazil 7-1 were some very memorable matches for me
For the Götze Goal you should have picked the german Commentary: „Mach ihn! Er macht ihn!“ (Do it! he does it!) it has way more emotions
The 2014 World Cup was my introduction into football and it was everything to me
I sometimes forget how young people are on the internet....
2014 was great tho, but man I wish you experienced 2010
From today exactly 10 years ago 2014 wc final played what the memories of that wc I am in 2nth standard that time I can t forget those beautiful memories Thanku ❤
lowkey happy you brought up ochoas performance vs brazil, great video bro!
Thank youu
I’m not even a huge soccer fan but I vividly remember watching this a whole cup. It was outstanding!
Best World Cup ever, even better then the 2022, huge upsets and everything
2022 had much bigger upsets no way you can say otherwise

The Germany Algeria game to this day is one of the best games ive ever seen.
great videoo! you should add some countries "storylines" for some games
As a German, I'll never forget the surreal mixed feelings experience of dumb joy over that blowout win and empathy for the millions of sad Brazillians who just watched their team and hopes disintegrate.

The 2014 world cup ball is the best and will always be iconic for me
Something to note: Colombia had a goal disallowed against Colombia because it was "offside" at the 65th minute, but people went back and proved it should've been allowed. I still wonder what would've happened if the refs hadn't blown the whistle as a mistake...
Gotta reread your comment
A fun stat that a lot of people misses, all the group stage winners advanced to Top8
Germany smashing Brazil (who DESPERATELY needed to be humbled) was the most beautiful thing in WC history.
I'll never forget that 7:1 match. I couldn't believe my eyes that day.
Germany really didn’t play the game against algeria well, but M’bolhi also played a fantastic game. Remember his name to this day because of it
Can you do 2010 and 2018 also?
The World Cup 2014 was the first one that I started watching it, and it’s the best of all time for me.
Give us another recap..great stuff❤
the vibe of summer in brazil etc was just perfect. nothing beats 2014 WC
I love how he pronounces "E LIM i nateed"
Great summary. I would add Faryd Mondragon from Colombia participating in the last group stage match to take the record of the oldest player in WC history, sadly for him the record just lasted him 4 years but it was a good moment...
Best world cup final qatar 22, semis south africa 2010 , quarter fin 2002 korea/ japan, round of 16 definately russia 18, group stages brazil 2014
Germany vs Italy 1950’s I believe had the best semi final
No
@dcole4741 GER-ITA 1970 in Mexico, the "match of the century"
The best World Cup I've seen in my life! I really miss those good old summer days of 2014. Those days felt different!
Higuaìn lost every single final he played in 😭
Two things from this World Cup that burned into my Brain:
1. Van Persie's Dolphin 🐬 Dive
2. Brazil vs Germany Highlights posted on the Hub.
That was the last time my country Italy qualified for the WC. I hope we qualify for the 2026. 😭😭
That’s crazy
Unfortunately I don't think so but you can just support any team that plays France
Great cut man. Awesome video.
The football fan in me says this is the best World Cup ever but the Messi fan in me says 2022 cuz obviously he won that one
Just got to say great video you made, thoroughly enjoyed it
The biggest joke of 2014 WC was Messi getting the golden ball for scoring against Iran, Nigeria and Bosnia and ghosting the knockout stage.
5 G/A isn't bad lmao
Nobody else was the overall best player, everyone else had amazing goals and moments but he was simply the ovr best
Without messi, that Argentina team wouldn’t pass group stage. He was directly involved 75% of Argentinas goals, and often helped in defence. He was by far the best player of that World cup.
imagine calling the best playermaker of the tournament as "ghosting" , stick to cricket u clearly are clueless when it comes to football
That's still better than "ghosting the knockout game" for 5 world cups😂
The thing i love about muller is when he scores hes usually undetected by the goalkeepers
This was more than 10 years ago. I was 16 back then. I remember this World Cup like yesterday. How fast time flies man.
That Iran vs Argentina match was insane. That Iranian gk keeper turned into the world's greatest gk for a match lol
Did you know that I’m the final, Brazilian fans were now rooting for Germany after the 7-1 game because Argentina were big rivals of Brazil.
I will always remember this world cup. Berlin was a party when they came back from Brazil. It was amazing.
As someone who's been supporting brazil from his childhood, 2014 semi finals broke my heart into pieces
Excellent narrative by the channel. Fantastic work. Keep it up. Do a similar history story for 2018 and 2022 world cups also
That goal from Goetze... Not only was it a left kick while he was a right sided person. No the precision it needs to hit something like that is unbelievable
good job buddy nice video
This was actually the first ever football cup i've ever watched and as a german i'm incredebly proud
I can't believe that it is ten years that the WC 2014 happened cause it was an entertaining tournament.
