One of the best classic rock songs of all time
This is actually my favorite song of all time.
This is not only one of my all time favorite classic tune, but one of the greatest 70's rock songs ever done from professional Vocals too Professional Instruments and putting it all together. "CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON" AND STEVE WALSH LEAD KANSAS.... GREAT REACTION $CRIBE...✌
This song, Dust In The Wind and Point Of Know Return are some of their best known songs. People Of The South Wind is a great song that rarely gets mentioned.
Some good choices for more Kansas might be "Death of Mother Nature Suite", "Apercu" or "Journey from Mariabronn" from their first album.
Angra - Carry On
Brazilian old school metal band
🤘🇧🇷
Baby this my jam, I'm 64 and all my kids know these song. Man I used to listen to Beaker st... YES
Kansas was a Christian rock group.....check out what the lead singer has done lately....and also Dust in the Wind
I probably have said this before, but you are a very good singer.
Good cruising music on long distance drives
Kansas comes under the umbrella genre of southern rock.. other songs from Kansas and some related bands are:
Kansas: Hold on & fight fire with Fire
Molly hatchet: fall of the peacemakers & Dreams I’ll never see
Outlaws: green grass & high tides
King Crimson ( very spiritual) : “in the court of the crimson king” & “epitaph”
If you listen to those songs I hope you enjoy them .. some have thrashing electric guitars but are not thrash metal I just like guitar sounds
I have to strongly disagree about them being "Southern Rock". They have elements of that yeah, but they are so much more. Classical, jazz, and just good old American boogie, all twisted into a progressive masterpiece collection of songs.
Kansas was never southern rock. They are prog to the core!
I buy your CD if you quit singing ring my bell lol
Hey I your spare time watch the live video...you missed sooo much...lots and lots of hair ... just crazy guitar and keyboard playing !!!
DONT FORGET ABOUTME BEAUTIFUL. FEAR FACTORY!! FEAR CAMPAIGN OR CYBERWASTE!!! IM LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!
I make that face too.
there a christian band
Who knew? What planet have you been living on? No offence, but, a bit of a strange statement.
How many Supernatural fans are here?
Dam girl first time for wayward son....you got a whole lotta jams that are gonna blow your ears out n rock ya socks off
Texas Takeover713 Love your Handle
@@TexasMagnolia Texas Toast gave me love handles!
More Kansas!!! "Dust In The Wind"
More Boston!!! More Ram Jam!!! More Bad Company!!! More BTO!!! More Kansas!!!
Kansas was quite morbid... Two great songs about death.
Lots of folks know this song from the intro of "Supernatural - TV Show" (used many episodes)
So many good songs on spn
Yeah and I fall into this catagory myself.
I was around when it came out, but I really enjoy it being used in Supernatural.
How about reacting to a Yes song? Leave It is a great vocal track.
After more Kansas, how about some Styx and Foreigner?
"If I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know." True lyrics!
Kansas is a rich vein to tap - you could probably to six of seven reactions just from this one album. Keep going; love to see you rockin' out to the music we love
Any supernatural fans out there
The road so far
Damn I wish you were still doing videos. Great stuff. These guys were from a town just about 30 minutes from me and my first roommate in college was from Topeka Kansas and knew those guys somehow, and he had some of their hand-me-down band equipment Incorporated into his massive stereo system.
Multi-eargasmic? I can't believe this is your first reaction to Kansas! BTW, the picture in your thumbnail, which is on the cover of the band's greatest hits compilation, is an artist's rendering of 19th-century abolitionist John Brown.
The album is "Leftoverture," not greatest hits. "Kansas Bloody Kansas" depicting John Brown is the cover of their first album.
This is one of the best songs ever wrote..💯💯💯
Carry on wayward son I got into because of the show supernatural.
Kansas - (Icarus / Borne on Wings of Steel)
is a very great song you should consider listening to.
Loved your Rush reaction videos. You were really diggin' their vibes. You should check out April Wine - another great Canadian classic rock band. Also Steppenwolf. Cheers!!
And Triumph
All i can think of is supernatural lol. I knew the song before the show. But it's All i think of when I hear it now
I saw them in concert as the opening act for Bad Company. They blue Bad company out of the water!
What a show though, eh? Was this back in the day, when Paul Rodgers was still with Bad Co.? Two just great (Rodgers being the best ever) vocalists in one show.
Silver, Blue and Gold
went to 3 of their concerts 79-84 in Tulsa, OK... Loverboy fronted for them once, and also for Journey or someone like that that I saw in Tulsa.
Little River Band played their a couple of times in Tulsa during that period.... in 80, i think, their front band cancelled & at last minute another Auzzie group filled in---- pretty sure it was Men At Work, early in their band, or Air Supply. This was just days before the Mega Band concert every year in Dallas Stadium, the old one with no roof. That was the BIG HIGH COST SHOW where 20 or so bands were playing from Thursday afternoon thru Sunday Night late, late....
I saw Journey open for Kansas in the Concord Pavilion circa 1976 or 1977.
@@paulmahon1613 Yes, Paul Rogers was lead vocalist then. Both bands were fantastic, but Kansas was on top of their game!
A veritable museum of transitions!.... Good ear, $C, on picking up on the gospel aspect - Kansas' music has a heavy Christian influence!
Yeah, no. This song was written long before Kerry Livgren became a born again Christian. although there are "Gospel" influences in the organ, this isn't "Christian" music by any stretch.
It's not until three albums later on "Audio Visions" that the Christian lyrics start emerging from Livgren and even then, there's nothing Christian about the actual music.
The Black Crowes..seeing things for the first time..🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great band hun they used to come to a festival every year where I live along with Molly Hatchet,.Blue Oyster Cult🔥🔥❤️🔥🔥
Back in the day when this was hot for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks, CA (God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. 300 miles each way with roughly $1 a gallon for gas on bikes. Hell yeah.😎😎
I've seen them since then with the new band members in Reno (Harrah's former outdoor venue) Still killin' it.
I still have this LP./Album.
"Point of Know Return" and "Dust in the Wind" are two other awesome songs from that era 45 years ago.
The best part of watching people react to this song is how it keeps getting better.
They're still played on classic rock radio.
"Surely Heaven waits for you"😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
Point of no Return best album cover in rock 🤘🤘
I don't know if you are ready for them or not, but GWAR does a great cover of this for AV Club.
Stuntman Bob Yeh, might not be ready for GWAR.
Don't forget about a band called Chicago...
$C, have you ever done an all-instrumental reaction?.... (I'm guessing not...) Anyway, one of these years, lend an ear to "The Prophet" by Gary Moore - it is a transcendent and incomparable instrumental ode to Jesus.
FYI.......this was recorded live with no cuts or fill ins.......super impressive!
Point of Know Return album/cd is a good picture of KS prog-rock moving into full bloom. Dig deep into the band's personnel and you will find some innovators that were cutting new music ground.
I love all your rock reactions, but would really love for you to react to some soul from 2001. India Arie's "Brown Skin" is such a groovy, soulful and sexy song. You gotta check it out even if you don't react to it. You'll be wanting to cover it yourself.

You are not wrong about "Gospel music." After Kansas broke up, Kerry Livgren continued to write Christian-oriented music.
Great reaction video. I'm curious to see your reaction to Band-Maid. They are an all female Rock band from Japan who are amazing. Their song Domination will knock your socks off.

This how they did it before you were born they were in their hay day filling stadiums from 1973 to like 1986 after that the music. Style that people wanted changed they were around a few years fading away I havent heard anything from them in years , my favorite show was at Legend Valley just outside Columbus Ohio it was the Outlaws Molly Hatchet Pure Prairie League in Kansas was an all-day thing in the sun it was great
It's a song about men (sorry PC police) on a journey to possible death and a voice from a higher power reassuring them that even if they fail, they'll be at peace in death. It had to be said. Bye.
How many Rock bands had a violin? Kansas is the greatest progressive rock band to ever live.
You can find a lot of Supernatural fans with this song. Great song.
My high school class song class of 77 Rumford high school panthers another spiritual song another journey for Kerry who did all of the song writing pretty much and when you listen to the words hes telling about the fame and fortune and that's the direction he thought he was going to be going an something telling him no just carry on my way would Son hes confused in life a bit its not what it was all cracked up to be i believe, great reaction sister love that you go into the songs keep having fun Gods favor always and keep bring the music to the younger generation ❤
They started out a Christian contemporary rock band for their church.
Noticing a chemistry together that had the swagger, the congregation encouraged them to take some tracks to a label. Bye the way I wish I had 1 tenth of that energy you got bursting out at the seems ! Haha !
How are you just now hearing this?!? ITS A CLASSIC!!!!!!
Can you do classic rock. Do you like it. The old school rockers made the best music of all time. They really jammed man.
@9:25 - We've got a band called Boston, Kansas.... and Chicago is coming up.
"We got a band called Boston, and we got a band called Kansas. Who knew!" What about Chicago and Berlin?
jeh32 very clever!
You forgot America, Europe, and Asia.
Hey Scribe , is the old guy on the album cover a scribe?
Lol. I see what you did there.
The road so far
Magnum Opus - Kansas ❗❗❗
You got to play Kansas The Tempest from Point of no Return...….
Other Kansas songs with a Christian or spiritual theme/influence I recommend are: "The Wall", "Dust in the Wind", "Crossfire", "Child of Innocence", and "Relentless".
I'm gonna say it even if ya don't play it... "Dust in the Wind."
I would like for you to take a dive into what the lyric content is speaking of it is sort of like a sermon in it's aproach to a lesson to be learned
Have you heard Heaven and Earth Band "I don't know what love is" ? ]:)
Good tune!!
This was recorded and released in 1977 a d went up to #11 on the top 100 billboard
The song is about keeping the pursuit of a spiritual journey so yes gospel influences for sure
But the word spiritual can apply to more than just the quote on quote gospels .
So the word spiritual could refer to practically any religion.
Of course an actual spiritual if exist at all would be something undefinable to humans.
This is because everything we humans ligit know of is physical even the wind and breath of man.
We can not see these things with are eyes but with special equipment we can see them and they are particles as such they are physical.
The same applies to everything in this universe because we live in a physical universe.
Shane Strickland - Yes, but it s ARE universe.
the wall
Left Overture is one of the best classic rock albums of all time 5:54
If you wanna hear a Kansas tune that really shows off their musical capability as Musicians, then you need to hear the music they made when they were struggling Artists who, back in the day, were still singing for their supper.
On their 2nd Album.
( Song For America.) The last song on side 1. A twelve minute song, entitled
" Incomudro Hymn To The Atman."
Is a group effort that really shows off their talent. I saw them perform this LIVE from the front row. The pyrotechnics they used were out of this world.
Leftoverture was their 4th release and as the title indicates, were leftovers from their 1st 3 albums that never made the cut.
Their 3rd release, the one just before Leftoverture ( Masque) is a pretty remarkable album.
One of those songs Id like to suggest would be.( Child Of Innocence.)
or ( Two Cents Worth.)
,
Knew you would love the transitions on this one!
Yeah love that bit when u singing ring my bell lol this is awesome video love this song
Steve Walsh vocals, Kerry Livgren lyrics & guitar..., hard to beat.
Kerry became a Christian a year or two after that release. You can hear a lot of God’s influence in his thinking as he was being Kerry to him. The Wall is a good one too, but a little more low key.
What's on my MIND!!!!
My fav song
You need to listen to the whole album. At one sitting! Yes, it's THAT good, but furthermore, everything fits together to make it much more than just a collection of song!
Glad you liked this young lady. I was stationed in Washington DC at Marine Barracks when this was out 1976.
Great memories!
Semper fi
I still can’t believe this is the same band that did “dust in the wind” i do not like that sing
I recommend you do that with all of their songs
New subscriber here great job 👍 thanks
My memory; 1976 ...20 mile walkathon in Berkeley, CA Me and my 4 friends, 14 years old, walking with a huge boom box blasting this song
Use to love me some Kansans seen them twice in the 1980s
This song has been out sjnce the 80s
Check out the live video of this song.
No doubt the best rock riff of all
You Got Some Ear Girl😊
Miracles out of nowhere
Not bad for a bunch of pastors ✝️
For the Trifecta after Boston and Kansas, Check out The Atlanta Rhythm Section. But yeah, this is probably my original theme song from back in the day,
Excellent reaction 👌
You have a beautiful voice
Nice reaction!!!
The name of the album, contains the term for which describes this type of composition. An Overture contains usually quite a few time and/or key changes.
Not really... “Leftoverture” was originally the name of the mostly instrumental piece that closes the album, Magnum Opus, which is kind of a pastiche of song fragments the band strung together. The album was going to be entitled Magnum Opus, which means “greatest work” in Latin. However, the record company loved the play on words of Leftoverture and insisted on it for the album title.
You really are fabulous
You know people know your faking right?
You know people think you're a bot right?
Supernatural
Nice reaction!
I like you 🤙
Like 👍
