Thanks V! The stone foundation provides a nice alternative for walls - little more refined looked that mixes well with the classic stone wall pieces, but yessss please build a castle! The community needs a Versaugh castle 🙏🏻
Yes, V! Please build a castle and share it with your patreons so that I can put it in my world and tell my friends that I built it 😆 JK, I don't have any friends 🤣
I'm literally f- astonished... the interior, the windows, my love for using the X's, the curtain placement, the armor stands for weapons......... how this build is actually useful in game not just for looks... perfect.
Thanks Akira! I love this build. I always try to find a balance between building for looks but also building leaving elements that survival players could incorporate as well. Happy to hear you liked it!
Fantastic work as always. I absolutely love how you put much more emphasis on stone this time, I feel like it has so much more potential than many might think. And your texturing work is phenomenal, combining the rougher texture of the wall bricks and the floor bricks is something I definitely never thought of before. I bit less related, but your music choices were FANTASTIC. It's the exact stuff I love to listen to. Calm and placid but with enough moving notes to make sure you don't forget it! Well done!
Thanks Emily! Yeah I haven't really done a lot of castle/stone centric builds so I wanted to brush up on some new techniques! I found there's a lot of subtle things you can do to make depth and detail on stone builds which was fun. LOVE that you commented on the music though! I spend so much time trying to pick music that I think will create a nice viewing experience for people. Nice to see it doesn't go unnoticed :) Appreciate the support as always!
WOW, truly love this one, Smitty! Everyone else is saying it, but mixing the stone floors and walls together makes an awesome effect! And I always love the way the dark wood roofs look in the snow! Great work!! 👌
Thanks Lancelot! Yeah the mixing of materials definitely turned out well. I'm not super experience with stone dominant builds, so it was a bit experimental but happy with the overall result :) appreciate the support as always!
Smitty, your builds are always so polished and well-thought-out, but something about this one strikes as me as particularly spectacular. A lot of it comes down to the details, I think - the rock piles and buckets around the tops of the towers, the armor stands with bows ready for action - but it's a little... je ne sais quoi. Environmental storytelling, perhaps? It's so easy to see this and picture a whole story around it. It's ready to inhabit with that story. I'm really looking forward to the walk-through on this one! Also, watching that round tower go up was so satisfying 😂
Thank you so much! Honestly you hit it on the head with the Environmental Story telling bit! At the core of every build should have a story. It should tell something about who would be in this world, what they'd be doing, and what experiences they may be having. I've always talked about how builders are just story tellers, but instead of words, we use virtual stone and wood to tell stories lol :) Glad you liked this one!
Thank you! I really haven't done a ton of stone centric builds, so it was good to break out of the comfort zone! Really happy with the result, and definitely would like to do more castle-like structures in the future! Appreciate the support!
Thank you! And glad you enjoyed the video! I really have done many castle like structures, so this was a fun little exercise. Always good to experiment with different materials!
Skol Smitty! Always at lunch time too,you have perfect timing! 😉 Just started one this morning on Lawla's server, gonna have to scrap it now and start again 🙄...damn it sir and your awesomeness...."mutter mutter"....
Thanks Arty Fox! Had a lot of fun building editing this one. Been awhile since I’ve done a fortress/castle in Valheim but happy with the result! Glad you enjoyed watching!
I love this design but when I try to replicate it it feels like important steps were cut in the video. I might just be missing them though, but I can't figure out were I screwed up.
I followed this build more or less step by step, even though some parts in the video were not shown how to build, but for some reason no matter how I do the 2nd tower that goes abit higher, no amount of support beams that I put will turn it atleast yellow or green. Can't seem to build the top part at all.
I have really got into GoT and ASOIAF lately.... mainly because of a mod for Cruasader Kings 3 Think you can try to flex your building skills by recreating some of the iconic buildings and putting your own spin on them. Mainly because i think you and whatever hardware your running can make the Entire, Kings Landing, better then HBO
Hey Basic! So I utilize a 2 PC setup for this. I record in free cam on my main PC, and then I also have a gaming laptop which I will do the actual building on. From there I just shift the camera on my main PC to the angles I need to capture the build!
Hey man one more question, is this on a local server or dedicated server through a host? I really like the way this video is put together but it seems like it would be difficult on a local server without having devcommands available
@@TheBasicBuilder hey basic so this is actually on a local server. It’s a little bit wonky getting dev commands to work but I’ve found that if you activate them with the host before the second account connects you can still utilize them. For the second account that connects I do need to utilize a mod that enables commands on a server. The SKtoolbox mod works pretty well for this
Are those trapezoidal pieces you're using at the beginning part of a mod pack? I'm playing vanilla and don't know of those pieces existing with a stonecutter. Awesome build! I'm trying it out but on vanilla to see if I can do it justice.
Always enjoy your builds but I miss your commentary. The music is nice and all but I learn alot more listening to you talk about your thought process while building and enjoy the stories you tell. Hope you do a few more videos soon using your other format :)
Thanks John! I'll definitely try to mix it up a bit. Some people prefer certain styles over the others so that's good feedback! Glad you liked the build though!
Love that you brought this up! And you're spot on - the structure is really not complicated, but when you start layering and adding depth/details, it changes the whole feel of the build. Devils definitely in the details!
Fantastic build bud. One critique though, the foundation tower looks like crap, and you know it. Need to break it down and use the 1x1 and 1x2 stone pieces for it, you know this. The endless foundation pieces for the tower walls throws the whole thing off.
I have been looking for a castle build (I am new to building). I really like this, unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to follow along. The floorplan keeps changing, you can't see where changes are made and there are no instructions/step by step. If you feel like it, it would be great if you would create a video with the actual steps in it. Thank you.
I just don’t find builds. Using mods or cheats impressive at all. Anyone can build crazy castles or designs with no damage unlimited items and flying. - gamers humble opinion.
Now I am inspired to do a castle, this is my favorite, mixing the stone floor with stone walls, absolute genius!
Thanks V! The stone foundation provides a nice alternative for walls - little more refined looked that mixes well with the classic stone wall pieces, but yessss please build a castle! The community needs a Versaugh castle 🙏🏻

stone floor for the walls that is a brilliant touch will totally be stealing that idea XD
Thanks! Its definitely a nice alternative to the standard stone walls! Little bit cleaner look and more robust. Glad I could provide some inspiration!

Nice castle but one of the important issue about this type of castle is it need a more pointed roofs in order to maintain against mass snow brick
This is amazing and beautiful!

Really would like to see what you'd do for a base/building off the stone pillars that reside in the plains

layout is not complicated, seems basic, but the details you are adding are making more complex depth for this building

I dont understand how you can fly around in the Air that Way . Nice building 👍
I love it, do you have this build available for the BuildShare mod?
you used wood iron to do a core wood wood doable tower. not very survivalist but it looks cool and that what it counts.

Please an Full Design video
can you not keep skipping parts of the building because it doesn't show what you did and its frustrating to follow
its more of a how to watch instead of a how to build
i know this is two years later but can you please make a step by step tutorial on this its way to hard to fallow
