my cousin is an architect and I introduced him to Valheim few months ago and he's really into it. he even built bases with tunnels connecting from one biome to another. he found a spot where biomes are connected in short distances. he designs awesome houses too. he says if he's gonna have a chance to build a house with medieval aesthetics in real life then he would do it.
These videos are always a joy to see! Valheim has been my favorite game to build things in for a while now, and these timelapses never fail to inspire!
Not gonna lie... this is a really comfy video. It's one of these videos where you can just chill out and watch It and be comfy. Ty and great job on the house. I will be saving this video so i can start up my new valheim world once the game is out of early access. Can't wait to build all the new stuff.
As someone who never pays for dlc, never pre-orders, and never buys microtransactions; I gotta say Valheim is worth buying. A friend bought it for me to play on his server and its easily one of my favorite games. The devs clearly love it, its not just some profit project to them. If you're waiting to buy it until they "officially" launch, you're doing yourself a disservice. Honest take.
This comment is a bit late but another style of building for the swamp is treehouses. The larger trees that can’t be damaged act like the ground, providing the maximum structure. I like to make multiple small buildings or houses that each have their own function, and connection them with walkways.
I’m always amazed by people’s creativity. I love the builds. My favorite videos are the ones where the person is playing in survival. Dealing with gathering resources, fighting monsters and falling off your roof while building.
Quite liked the mistlands build. I hope they add more building materials, maybe go back and add a unique material for old zones like the plains or the swamp.
Your builds are beautiful as always, but man, your editing skills are top notch! Everything from the music, the smooth flow of the time lapse, the voice over, the story/theme, the font…perfect. I’ve said it before, but you are a true artist! Thanks for sharing your projects with us. 😊
Thank you so much for this comment! There’s truly so much work beyond just building that go into these. Everything you mention is absolutely intentional and part of my process of putting together a nice experience for you all, so really glad you notice and appreciate 😊
god, these are all so incredible. i say it every time but you are inspiring!!! i don't even know which one was my favorite; they all have something unique that I love!
As always, your builds are are on supreme-grade quality. Absolutely love that swamp house. It's my favorite biome due to the Diablo II vibe. The plains house is very unique too. It looks like what you'll find irl. As a Southeast Asian, I give my stamp of approval. Though, I think it's preferable for you to just mention the ethnicity instead because there's literally hundreds of cultures in SEA; and nearly all of them has distinct architecture style. It would be helpful for finding the references and for those who are interested, I guarantee exploring our cultures' styles would be fun. There's WAY more to Asian architecture than Japanese and Chinese. Btw, would you consider making house designs for fire-hazard enabled world? I don't think I've seen any videos for it.
Thank you so much! Totally fair on your comment about Southeast Asia overgeneralization. Specifically I spent time in China/Japan/Korea, but the vast breadth of countries with distinct cultures and influences probably rendered that as an insufficient descriptor. I myself am Japanese/Korean so I definitely can appreciate the differences amongst cultures in Asia 🙌🏻
@@smittysurvival You are? That's totally unexpected from your voice and how you speak. :o Yes, honestly the overgeneralization is a bit saddening (not referring to your video, but in general). Throughout the world, when people mention about Asian countries, it's always only refer to China/Japan/Korea, It's like the rest of us doesn't exist, despite probably having the most diverse cultures in the world. You're one of the best, if not the best builder I've seen for ANY game. And the way you present your content is top notch. I hope I will always get to see your videos for years to come. :D
By Odin's Beard! the production quality and showing each and every step! i LOVE the mountain biome and i built a base (i started like 2 weeks ago so its NOTHING like these beauties) but you gave me the inspiration to redesign my base you're a viKING, Skäl!
Ooh, I really liked the black forest build! That biome is so nice, and it really lends itself for a cozy house in the middle of the forest. Sadly all the graydwarfs makes it very tedious to live there 😅
It not only looks good, but is a very useful video. All of the houses(accept the plains and ashlands ones) are really good in terms of defense. They are constructed with the best materials, which recompense the lack of outer walls or moats. Very comfy and good looking
I've thought about doing something like this, but never got around to it. A hunting lodge in the Meadows with a farm, and a few board. A large log cabin in the Black Forest. A home on stilts with exaggerated roof in the Swamp, so I can stand outside without getting wet. A stone fort on top of a Mountain. A large estate in the wide open Plains. I haven't played in the Mistlands or Ashlands yet, but I imagine another stone structure in Mistlands so Gjalls can't burn it down, and a great castle in the Ashlands to repel a warband.
Beautiful builds as always. My favorite one was.... I can't pick because they are all good in there one different ways. But if I had to pick to use, I would probably pick the one in the Meadows, but have a cellar. Nice seeing you in Valheim. Must say I miss your Valheim series / episodes / walkthrough /gameplay and builds.
These designs are spectacular. I'm getting back into Valheim for the 7164134th time. I haven't even finished this game yet but mostly because it's still early access. I also love the beginning stages of the game so much. I can't wait to try out your Black Forest house. I have been wanting a cellar and your design looks cool. I also just noticed that at one point I subscribed to your channel. Have a great day and thanks for the builds and your excellent quality video. Great production value you have here.
Great builds as always! Small builds are the best. The Swamp is my favorite biome for building in. I like the creepy atmosphere . . . but its also super practical for coal farms and to easily gather and process all your iron.
What amazing builds!! They are so unique and different in a fabulous way. It's truly hard to pick a favorite. That being said, I think the swamp build would be my top of the list. Thank you 🎉
fantastic video Smitty. I really love your sense and feeling of moods and storytelling. Always a highlight for me when watching Val content. The mist temple is my favourite.
Man I just found your channel, this is unbelievable!! Thanks for the inspiration, especially the Black Forest cabin. Trying to find out how you sunk that basement!!
All the builds are awesome! and i'm getting quite a it of inspiration from them for my own builds! also love the music, fits very well with the style of the video!
Always a treat when one of your videos comes out! Also, I really wanna start a new Valheim playthrough, but I just have so many other games I haven't played yet, it's quite a dilemma.
Forgot the ocean biome shaking my smh head 0/10 Jokes aside, really love these builds. I'm definitely gonna do something similair to your blackforest house.
Which one is my favorite? Smitty is! 😄 On a serious note, the Mistlands build is nice. I like how you got the lanterns to reflect from the black marble overhanging above them.
Fantastic builds. I always enjoy seeing what you are able to come up with and it certainly gave me some ideas for future builds. Where in Asia did you live? I lived in Cambodia for 3 years and am using that as inspiration for a village I'm working on building.
Now to make the same builds but make them look ruined and abandoned. Especially the outpost ones where you would've moved on or established a more permanent base.
I really like these builds, and I was trying to do your swamp one, but I have no clue how you did the roofs and there is no explanation or even a good angle to see how you did them :(. Great ideas, just wish I had a better idea of how to actually do them for my own play throughs.. but I settled for more crappy looking/basic versions of them lol.
I wish I could figure out how you do all of this... I have been trying to build a medieval style castle in the meadows but I cant even get the wall towers right
I love the idea of detailed building in valheim, but sometimes it just feels like the game does everything it can to disincentivize it. I mean, what's the point of spending hours getting my interior decor right just for a troll to walk in and demolish half my home? God forbid I need upgrade stations that can't be placed too close to each other, then I have to make a whole room just for that crafting station. It's just such a pain sometimes and it's a little upsetting.
I have a solution,I build on a hillside and the raise the front edge to make a cellar (earth wall troll proof) area. Then add a moat. A moat and an earth wall is an unbreachable defense. I build my farm/ ranch away from base - cause a camp needs 3 base structure - so a portal and a workbench and a chest is only 2 elements. Idk why but when Im olaying with my friends(rarely happens sadly) my building evolves into something else I was playing with my friend and we settled into a bf I started with a wooden box as any survival player would start with than I leveled it up into a somewhat good looking hut than my friend seperated his house from mine because we both wanted to build a good looking settlement and we were annoyed from the greydwarves so we built some walls then we killed elder. "Some may be good. Some may not be so good." They were all excellent.
Haha thank you! Glad you liked them all :) Always gotta leave room for individual subjectivity!

I really liked the mini ashlands house. Something about a zen little home in the middle of chaos is cool (:

Nothing like some build inspiration to get you into a new play though :)
personally I'm always a sucker for swamp builds, and the stilted style is the same i find myself using 9 times outa 10.
absolutely lovely

I'd like to see bite size tutorial vids of each build so those of us can recreate these for ourselves, great creations by the way, I love all of them
That was inspiring and amazing, thx, it's a great content as always bro.
The mistlands base would give me perma anxiety with all the Gjall gurgles and seeker soldiers skittering sounds all around the house xD

Oh that would be amazing if they did! Just some more variety with those pieces would be great!

So much Inspiration, thx! The mistlands build is my favourite, really unique look for Valheim
So glad you liked it!
Really appreciate your Valheim videos Smitty. Ive incorporated many of your ideas into my projects. Love how all your builds tell a story.
really love it
i hope there is small village in every biome version

Yes small builds are my favorite! Can put a lot of love into projects that size - quality over quantity always!
That’s a really cool map in the thumbnail, I bet whoever made it and put it on Reddit is really talented
Incredible builds as always
great designs. the plains house reminded me of a tent from native central asian people.
Oh totally! That was kinda the inspiration when I talked about the Mongolian yurts being the inspiration behind that one. Glad you liked it!
I hit like before I watched the video.. before I even got a snack.. or a drink.. 🫡
That’s some incredible support, my friend 🫡 appreciate it!
Those were all amazing. We're doing the same concept on our server next to each boss. Great inspiration
What amazing builds!! They are so unique and different in a fabulous way. It's truly hard to pick a favorite. That being said, I think the swamp build would be my top of the list. Thank you 🎉
4:12 love the dulcimer music during the BF build!
Glad you appreciate it! I thought it fit rather nicely lol
fantastic video Smitty. I really love your sense and feeling of moods and storytelling. Always a highlight for me when watching Val content. The mist temple is my favourite.
Thank you Ulrich! It’s all gotta feel cohesive and you always point that out! Appreciate the support!
How did you not get messed with or invaded this whole time building 😂 amazing work fella
That Mistlands base was beautiful!
they are all really nice ! swamp house is my favourite
Amazing as always! Hard to choose a favorite, but I think the mistlands build would win for me (if you twisted my arm 😉).
Great work! 🤘
Thanks Lancelot! Yeah Mistlands is one of my favorites too. Zen house FTW 🙌🏻
Man I just found your channel, this is unbelievable!! Thanks for the inspiration, especially the Black Forest cabin. Trying to find out how you sunk that basement!!
Thank you! Thought provoking. Great locations too!
Mountains are always my favorite bases
All your builds are fantastic, my favorite here are the swamp build. 😍
nice builds, I've been looking to start a new play through and these are giving me great ideas for smaller and more manageable solo base builds
Ahh yes starting new play though is always a good time. Love those early game phases. Glad I could provide some ideas!
Swamp build was my favorite
Definitely one of my favorites too!
Great video definetly took some inspiration for my next server.
I always make sure to include a bathroom with a toilet and tub, or an outhouse:)
Choice of music is fkn immaculate.
LOL, I just thought about a house with floor made of chests. Hopping on the server to try that now.
Thx for god You come back😅
Haha thank god you’re still watching 🙌🏻

Gahhhhh expoosseeed 😆
Love these builds! You have inspired me to try some creative ideas of my own! Thank you for sharing you’re ideas :)
Love these builds Smitty! Always excited to see a video from you!
I need to say, i really want to build that plains house
great project. I love these small and feasible builds.
Thanks! Yes small build are the best! Much more approachable than some massive project that would take weeks!
Great builds as always sir! Well done!
Thank you! Glad you liked them!
i like the mistlands one. though it looks a bit like a gas station or something like that
Bravo for all the buildings!
damn, the best builder in the game fr
Sick builds! Thanks for the inspiration
Which one is my favorite? Smitty is! 😄 On a serious note, the Mistlands build is nice. I like how you got the lanterns to reflect from the black marble overhanging above them.
lol thanks! Yeah I do like the mistlands one too. Very unique look!
Awesome builds, I'm definitely inspired.
awesome builds, thanks a lot. great video for dinner.
Glad you liked it! Sounds like you had a big snack for the video 🫡 strong work
This video and these builds were awesome and very inspiring
*me stuffing my face with chips* "smitty told me to grab a snack...gotta do as I'm told"
Missed opportunity to do an island-centric deep north ice fishing hut.

Really great build bro
Thank you for the video! Soo satisfying! Would you mind to share the tracklist you used?
Now to make the same builds but make them look ruined and abandoned. Especially the outpost ones where you would've moved on or established a more permanent base.
Wow thus game looks cool. I might have to try it.
Beautiful video. Could you possibly put on screen what music you use and by who as a little edited pop up (like the "The Black Forest", but small)
Great builds!
XD 2:20 sounds like a Gordon Ramsy Intro/Outro
i love the black forest home, my only complaint is where am i going to put my forge/smelter/kiln?
A the best videos that a see about building !
I really like these builds, and I was trying to do your swamp one, but I have no clue how you did the roofs and there is no explanation or even a good angle to see how you did them :(. I wish I could figure out how you do all of this... I have been trying to build a medieval style castle in the meadows but I cant even get the wall towers right
I love all the builds. I just have one question. Why didn't you use Darkwood for the plains build?
I love your builds
love the builds but what was the song used for BlackForest part?
amazing architecture! how do you do to not have mobs bothering you all the time? is it a mod?
next 7 different biome watchtower/outpost..
yooo good music choices. do you have a list of the tunes you used?
wiat you used the stone cutter in the black forest before you're able get it normally, wish this was for non creative mode
enshoulded - ok, building
Valheim - better building
Awesome!
Building in ashlands is always a pain because of the lava blobs who keep blowing up everything in sight 🙄
Haha it’s a real problem for sure 😂 that biome is absolutely brutal
Can access with either ladders or portals. But I end up with a raised homestead - elevated and safe. I build my farm/ ranch away from base - cause a camp needs 3 base structure - so a portal and a workbench and a chest is only 2 elements. Oh and advantage of multi heights is many of the ugly upgrades can be stuck under the floor, too.
Also, how do you record from a stationary POV? Do you connect another client to your server?
Idk why but when Im olaying with my friends(rarely happens sadly) my building evolves into something else I was playing with my friend and we settled into a bf I started with a wooden box as any survival player would start with than I leveled it up into a somewhat good looking hut than my friend seperated his house from mine because we both wanted to build a good looking settlement and we were annoyed from the greydwarves so we built some walls then we killed elder. I wanted to level up my house again because it looked bad kinda and I got corewood now and a lot more wood with elder power ot started to look real good just like a cabin I also have the habit of BUILD everything inside even smelters and coal makers I had a bunch of experience with them earlier it got real cramped and storage room was in my base I wanted to go 1 more level up and built my last floor and a ceiling for storage never continued that house or finished it its still there because I wont ever play in that world without my friend.
cool!!!
Does anyone know what the music for the ashlands build is? 👀
