G'day Chris. That was some hard yakka this week mate. Your runs are far from boring. I'm always impressed by your commitment even when the chips are stacked against you. Inspiring stuff. Hope this week proves more fruitful for you. The past week confirms that Brighton was the right decision. Proven course, successful past experiences. Have fun on this one, get around, and fine tune for another marathon later in the year where you can set some goals. You have your mojo well and truly back. I'm right behind you. Best, Phil
Training has been really difficult. I hate having cold hands or wet/cold feet. My morale plummets! but at Farnborough Half I crossed the start line 45 seconds after the 2hr pacers and in the minus 5 degree chill slowly started to wind them in over the first 4 miles and I felt amazing so I pushed pass them and moved away holding my pace until the finish line. Farnborough was freezing but 4 miles in and you realised they were perfect running conditions. My previous PB was 2hr 6m 10s at Maidenhead and I completed the Farnborough in 1hr 57m 00s. Remember, no matter how bad training goes morale wise, keep plugging away because on the start line are going to be thousands of people who also had an indifferent training run. Just do what you can, know your strengths and weaknesses on the day and hopefully it will all work out.
Thanks fantastic Paul, huge congrats on a massive PB 👏 👍 😀
And wise words 👌
We'd always advise changing kit between different environments. Generally for a treadmill / outside combo we'd do the outside first.
Lovely video again and well done on the new Quarter Pounder nutrition strategy.
Great video plenty of time yet still mate👊💪👌
I usually loop back to car , not home unless GI issues, to hydrate, more layers etc as its too tempting to stay in the house😛👍💪
Very true, once back in the warmth it was very difficult to decide to go out again.
Thanks
As always, thank you 👍😊
I could *feel* the chill you were experiencing sans glovage and with thin sweaty tee 😬
My hands turn various shades of purple even when it is merely cool.....middle-aged *thing*. I'll be complaining of chilblains soon 🤔
At last my first ½ of the year is here next Sunday... hooray!
I thought it was going to be a perfect solution to get 5k on the treadmill followed by 24k outside but I completely messed up. Lesson learnt and definitely not gloveless weather yet!
Best of luck with your half 👍
Treat this week as a cut back week Chris and go again the following week. I had 4 layers and gloves yesterday so can vouch for that chill factor. I'm having a cut-back week this week and next week will be my peak volume for Brighton marathon.
Yep, definitely a cut back and a reminder that it's still Winter. Hopefully a better long run this week.
Shocker on the weekend Chris! But we all make those school boy errors from time to time. You can make up for it this weekend mate. Keep up the great work mate! 😎🤘
Thanks Ben. One to forget. Hoping for a better week, this week.
Chris, it's okay. You have plenty of time before your marathon to make up for a shorter long run. You will recover just fine.
Thanks Cathy. Yes, I'll just put that one behind me and focus on a better week this week.
@@HereWeAreRunning Yes, Chris, exactly! Put that one behind you and look forward to a better week coming up. Good luck.😀
Tiny set back but nothing drastic !! Likewise, Only got 3 of my 5 Brighton training runs in this week BUT a 10k, 16k, and a 26k ticked the most important boxes :-) Lets hope we both have a better week ahead!! ( as with Forests visit to Old Trafford !! I've everything crossed for that! )
Got to admit Jef, I'm not very hopeful for Wednesday. Maybe it'll give an opportunity to some fringe players to shine.
What shoes do you think you’ll run your marathon in?
I have Next% 2's that only come out for race day, so I'll probably wear those again.
One to chalk up to experience, in hindsight, probably would have been better to either change clothes or do the outside run first.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen you so miserable looking Chris, hope you got warmed up 👍🏻
Nice work on finding a route in the end Chris! Thought it was going to become more of a duathalon at one point 😅
Haha, I've never seen that path so badly flooded. Made for some interesting footage though.
