    Just a tip from one doing CAD training professionally. There is a teaching method called "tell-show-tell". The idea is to first describe the problem we're about to solve, then show how to solve it and, lastly, repeat what you just did. I think your tutorials would benefit from that. The way you do them now is just "click here, enter this value, do this, that", leaving the viewer wondering why.

      Yes. It helps to describe the solution, and then see the implementation of that solution. Otherwise, I think okay... did that, but I have no idea why.

    If someone is having trouble in array and u see that is making a sphere after adding the counts... just remember when u r rotating the cylinder at very first apply the rotation then when u r moving away from the origin...apply the location too...by using ctrl A😊

    Awesome creation Ducky! I haven't Blended in months after starting a new job and this is just what I needed to get me back into it. Looking forward to your other new tutorials as well. QUESTION: I know you can't give away all of your secrets, but how do you get the texture to flow with the movement of the object? In my render, the texture stays static and it kills the organic flow of the animation. In your opening preview, it looks like yours is flowing along with displacement. Maybe I'm wrong and it's just an illusion... lol THANKS!

I am working on animating a torus that rotates into the center of itself, but I can't seem to find the right method for animating it. Do you have any insight into this conundrum? I have seen 0 tutorials or methods on the interwebz :( Thank you very much!!

    • @beaudeeley
      @beaudeeley Рік тому +1

      I don't know that you can do that the same way you could in other 3d packages. You could probably add some bend modifiers to a plane to make a torus and animate the plane rotating to achieve that effect.

    I am having an issue with blender. Whenever I render something in blender, it looks pretty good until the rendering completes after which I can literally see the aliasing all around. I have a 3060 and I render using cycles most of the time at 1080p. I have tried using optix, Intel denoiser as well as compositing denoiser node but all gave the same result so maybe that's not the issue. Maybe it's something related to the most pass not being used. Please help me somehow. Or maybe make a full video on it.

    Hey Ducky! Love your tutorials and I'm trying to teach myself Blender by following them. But something's not right when when I try to use the array to create duplicate discs (2:19); instead of appearing from the original it's sitting right over the middle of the empty axis next to the original. Have I forgotten to set something? I changed the array setting to 'object offset' and chose the empty axis, but it put the copy of the disc in the middle of the axis, rather than on the original disc.

    • @sece09

      He forgot to say he was in edit mode when he moved the cylinder. Select the disk (while in object mode) and CTRL+A and apply location. That should fix it. Or redo his steps, and move the disk while in Edit mode.

    • @ICUFreezing
      @ICUFreezing Рік тому

      did you find out why im having the same problem

    • @Shamusladdy
      @Shamusladdy Рік тому

      @@ICUFreezing It has been awhile since I worked on this model but went back to it and followed the steps and it worked. Over last two months learned a lot about how important it is with arrays to ensure where your origin point location for an object is in making an array and applying rotation. Try this. At 1:36 make sure you hit Control A and apply rotation to the first disc after it is rotated 90 degrees. This resets rotation of the disc (Open Object properties by selecting N and look at Item to make sure X rotation is set to "0"). If you do not reset rotation, things will not work. When you move the initial disc (compressed cylinder) at 1:42, make sure you go out of Object mode and get into Edit mode (select Tab). If you stay in Object mode and try to move the disc, its origin point of the disc will move with it. You do not want this. You want the origin point (small orange dot) of the disc to stay at the center of the world, i.e. world cursor location after the disc is moved. This happens when you move an object when it is in Edit mode. At 1:51 Ducky 3D very quickly moves back to Object mode without mentioning it but you need at this point to be back in Object mode. Then follow creating the empty and then the array which uses the empty as your reference object. Try this out, hope it works for you and let me know if so. Good luck!

    • @Shamusladdy
      @Shamusladdy Рік тому +3

      Another tip: If you find in Object Mode your object's origin point is at center of object and not at the 3D cursor (World origin point) where you want it, you can do the following. In Object mode have object selected, go to top task bar and select "Object">Set Origin>Origin to 3D Cursor. In Object mode, you should see the object's origin point relocate to the world origin where it needs to be to create the array.

      Mostly because if I say to export it as an MP4 people yell at me in my comment section that I should do a PNG sequence. Most of the time it’s good to do a PNG sequence just in case blender crashes you don’t lose all of your progress. But you’re certainly welcome to do an MP4 if you would like.
