Thanks so much for featuring my addon in your awesome video! (oh yep, I'm _that_ Boris😅) It's a really good and well-explained tutorial (and fascinating end result, too!). Thank you so much, it really means a lot to me that people are using and enjoying it.
Little tip for the initial circle mesh, you can add a circle and just Face -> Poke Faces, it'll do the same thing in one step. Minor but maybe it helps someone. Thanks for showing this off! I don't know what I'll do with it but I already feel the neurons firing, lol
can you do tutorials like this for beginners and tell what you have to press on your keyboard? it's a good tutorial but when you do steps like 2:35 "switch to wireframe" and I don't even know how to open this menue.... 🙁 maybe u can say "press key ... to open menu bar, then switch to wireframe"
Genuinely thank you for your love and curiosity for the software and everything motion. Huge thank you to shouting out the creators and the original spaces you get inspo from! Really helps me go down a rabbit hole myself.
This would make for some awesome animations. An animation of a moss plant or something like that overgrowing a statue or another object would look sick!
Someone can help me? when I hit the button growth steps it shows this error (I created the vertex group) : Python: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\******\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.6\scripts\addons\blender-differential-growth-main\op_grow.py", line 22, in execute grow_step( File "C:\Users\****\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.6\scripts\addons\blender-differential-growth-main\op_grow.py", line 52, in grow_step w = get_vertex_weight(bm, vert, group_index) File "C:\Users\*****\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\3.6\scripts\addons\blender-differential-growth-main\op_grow.py", line 111, in get_vertex_weight weights = vert[weight_layer] AttributeError: BMElem[key]: invalid key, must be a BMLayerItem
Can someone help with install? I've downloaded and extracted the zip and double clicked all the files when i open the Install function in Blender. No dice. I restarted the program but i don't see anything new. Pls help!
Certainly my favourite new CG choober. Absolutely love your breakdowns and explanations. I’d love to see some moody reverse key light lighting on this render. ❤
Currently there isn't a way to animate the steps with out rendering frames manually. I'm looking into a few ways of doing it in the future but for now it isn't possible.
This is so damn cool, thank you!!! Also if you don't want to have to click for every iteration, once you do the first growth step with the right settings you can just hold down shift+r in the viewport to spam the repeat shortcut :))
Hi everyone, I'm encountering an issue with Blender 3.5. Not sure if it's the version that's causing the problem, but I get a BMElem Key not found error. Know what's wrong, anyone?
Thanks a lot for demonstrating this, really looking forward to trying this out. I just wanna know, what would be the best way to animate the growth? Looks like you can’t set keyframes within the addon.
I just read that the creator of the addon is (hopefully still) working on a solution to implement his algorithm into geonodes, which would enable control over animating this stuff. That would be amazing. But until then, is there an efficient way to make frames out of all the growth steps?
There is a way through scripting, you can set the value that controls growth to change on every frame. However that offers very little control and isn't very user friendly.
When you were going through examples, you showed an incredible human face with differential growth on only half of it. How were you able to accomplish that?
This is an amazing video. Thank you for sharing about this addon. I do have a question though. How can I animate this addon? I don't see any way of adding keyframes. I am new to blender so if there is any advanced way I am not aware of it.
Man I love your content. Mainly because you share a lot of information, even the inspiration and you transmit the knowledge really smooth and understandable. Amazing job
Doesn't seem to be installing for me. I've tried the usual way, Preferences>Add-ons>Zip file but is not populating in my list of add-ons. Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
I'm interested in procedurally generating bio-organic shapes in blender. This is right up my alley. Can you suggest some more add-ons/tutorials along those lines? Great video!
bro ive been watching your past few vids since theyre in my recommended and totally forgot that you were a cod editor haha. Great content tho, very enjoyable
I wonder why subdivision mdif take so long with it, it's not so complex and dosent have a lot of geometry Still thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge, appreciate that!! Have a goood day bro
Lot of fun to do. Great tutorial. I added detail by using the droplet generator addon. My first image I generated is located here: lh4.googleusercontent.com/aNaYjqT5pXWtaTtzJFOqoNphCSr6OlCtp2Ch7OaURFQrHtLec1wsNbr0xTzGtoTySNXylhaI6O3NRQiYQD_gjs8=w1280

To my knowledge this addon only works in versions before 3.5
Currently using it in 3.5.0 :D It does the job. Thanks for showcasing btw. I just remembered the video from earlier and installed it today.
@@mrglissi I cant copy in the glass material? Did you have problems with that ?
3.6 is working great also!
3.6 - working ))
Im on 3.6 it did work....
finally we can make lettuce!

holy shit dude your channel blew up! i'm glad to see you getting the traction you deserve, i love your 3d work heaps
💙
i ddont get why its not working to me. can anyone help me?
Try Object Mode instead of Edit Mode.
how would i keyframe there isn’t an option
Unfortunately not possible at the moment. You can write a script to make it grow on every frame but no real way to control it.
hahah so this how windows made that splash screen ;) No just kidding, i know thats probably done with c4d and some big ass studio.
Genuinely thank you for your love and curiosity for the software and everything motion. Huge thank you to shouting out the creators and the original spaces you get inspo from! Really helps me go down a rabbit hole myself.
So the way I understand it there is no way to automatically animate it? Or if there is can you show how you did it?
How do you get that rendered view on the left at 8:13?
0n 3.4.1 you get an attribute error (invalid key, must be a BMLayerItem) when selecting the vertex group and trying to add a step
Solved: one must be in Object mode to add the steps.
@@jaripeltola thanks
Thanks Jari !
how would you go about turning this effect into an animation? Say a tutorial on python scripting could be awesome
i am not getting wireframe on right clicking, and some error is coming at the end part. help me
Very cool...thank you for sharing. Wondering if we are able to animate this "growth"?
This would make for some awesome animations.

Same issue, no clue why this happens. Comments above stated it should work in 4.0
if only you can animate the growth like pyhsarum plug-in for after effect, i mean holy shit...that would've been magnificent
Is it possible to run animations through this addon?
We'd love to support the channel! How can we contact you?

Best tutorials by far
YES! I've been waiting for a cool blender implementation of Differential Growth for years now, thanks for getting the news out!! Instant sub.
You’re really good at this kinda stuff, do you think you could make a supernova explosion?
thanks, and no idea tbh
is there any atribute like this in maya🥺
Can you animate the growth tho?
Indeed crazy nice addon!
Hi, thanks a lot for this great tutorial. Is it possible to animate the differential growth on the timeline?
How compatible is this with geometry nodes?
Wonder what kind of stuff is possible
Yeah! I'd think this screams for simulation nodes! :D

Just discovered your channel and I LOVE your approach/way of properly crediting others.

does the subsurf mod only work with a GPU, because it's not worked for me from v2.9 through 3.0, 3.4, and now 3.4.1...
I think it's called infinity background or something like that

This is awesome! Kinda reminds me of Cordyceps in Last of Us.
God downloaded this Blender addon to make the lettuces..
is it possible to solidify the inner "leafes" more than the outers? to mace it look even more organic?
New subscriber - enjoying your blender videos - Thank you
Reminds me of volume builder in c4d just faster lol
An error occurs( Why could it happen?
The backdrop in a photo studio is generally referred to as a Cyc which is short for Cyclorama. You'd pronounce it Sike.
As always, great content pal! Thank you so much for sharing and being so assertive with your explainations.
Cheers!
assign a shortcut and you can hold it instead of clicking
Last of us material right here someone tutorial pls

This addon looks pretty neat and what you done at the end is also very nice. Reminds me of of those glass sculptures.
Could be great for creating coral..etc
can you animate something like that?
Is this possible to blooming animate?

That was super cool. Can you use it in conjunction with texts?
