I had my parts free styled! I didn't want a manufactured uniform look. I wanted different sized parts and locs and for them to grow as they see fit. And it turned out great for me.
I started my loc two weeks ago, this is my 2nd loc journey and I find your tips to be exactly what I needed to know and most all of the tips I follow, thx!!!.... I'm just gonna trust the process!
Although this video is a year old, I'm seeing it for the first time. After doing my big chop on Dec 3, 2010, on Jul 14, 2017 I got my starter locs! Tomorrow is my first maintenance/retwist after 6 weeks. I liked his last (1/2) tip about the base and not having to get squares (or rectangles). It didn't occur to me to do or ask for different shapes! Very interesting. Good luck to all those starting their loc journey! Thank you for the video!😊
I been on my loc journey for two weeks now. After watching this, I'm more than confident about my journey. Thank you so much for the advice #muchluv 💯👌
just discovered UA-cam subscription and your channel. Thank you for creating easy to understand videos. I have to catch up...but hoping you have or will cover the issue of having thin hair or spits when considering locs. keep up the great work!
But that shrinkage tho. I have super shrinkage when wet before locking and also with my coils When will shrinkage not be an issue? I'm 17 days in and hating the shrinkage but loving the thought of how great my hair will look once I've completely locked.
hey I'm Mir I'm 14 years old and just started my babe locks about 7_-_8months ago, and I wanted to know if you could do a video on washing short hair and how often you should get a retwist. I get mine done monthly. thanks
mir mir I usually wash my hair right before I get them done you basically use a nice shampoo that you know actually removes buildup and you wanna start at the root and scalp and let the shampoo work its way down the dreads
Got my hair twisted June 21st. It's August 27th now (same year!) 1 question: you said, always to style your hair because when you wear the protective style, you're less prone to touching but how often? asking because if we to style frequently, won't that cause damaged edges and snap hair etc. I know this post is old, but i hope someone sees and answers.
how long does it take for ur dreads to lock, I started off with armpit length hair, it been a year nd my ends are still curly and open, so how long would it take to finally lock?
Really enjoying your channel, I’m getting my hair locked tomorrow and I’m so excited. I’ve been looking into into for a while and I’m excited to start this journey. Keep doing your thang 💯
I am almost to my year mark and my hair is barely brushing shoulder. I was told not to do too many styles to often because it will thing and break my young locks. mine still doesn't hang well on its own less its Freshly resisted and it will only hang a few days😂😂
I literally thought about getting locs yesterday. I was leaning towards sister locs but I read they are more high maintenance. If I do get locs, I want them small like yours. accepting opinions!
For sure! My locs don't require much maintenance at all besides oiling in-between retwists. if you are looking for an easy hairstyle that you don't have to do much to on the day to day, locs are a great choice!
Sorry, aloe vera might be a great product for retwisting given that its light and natural. Only thing is it may flake up white residue after time. I know eco styler gel does but I'm not sure about aloe vera. You should give it a try and let me know.?
I started my dreads with about 16inches of curly hair back on Dec 3rd. twist method (she said hair was too curly for any other way) can I wash my hair? if I change my mind can i take them out? Thanks bro
Tommy G if you do twist method you should get your hair redone every 2 weeks. and that is when u should wash. it takes about 5 months for your hair to lock completley with the twist method. that is what i do for my hair. check out my channel to see
Started my locs today!! I'm so happy ☺️
Congrats! hope you enjoy them !!
Congrats sis!
ahhh we should be month babies around now!
Do you still have them now? If so do you still like. The reason I’m asking I’m getting two weeks from now
That's awesome. How are they coming along now?
I had my parts free styled! I didn't want a manufactured uniform look. I wanted different sized parts and locs and for them to grow as they see fit. And it turned out great for me.
Thanks for all the tips. I do most of them already so it's nice to see someone with long healthy locs confirm on how to maintain them.
I started my locs yesterday! Woo hooo!
_Zuri_ how they doing now?

I was with you up until you said do as many styles as you can..... I’ve heard the opposite
starting my locos tomorrow. can i still wear hats with my new coils?
I wouldn't recommend it but u can. Just make sure you oil your hair often and don't wear hats that'll disturb the coils, if u do.
Clayton Logan thanks for the reply! 3 weeks in and kinda scared to wear hats...lol..i'll give it a few months until i do.
yea it could mess up your coils, i never wore hats when I first started..
Can u do a tutorial for that style you got on this video?
im now starting locsthanks for the tips !
style she said that my hair is too short and I really really want a style
I just twisted my hair up on Saturday!!!
So my dreads are now 3 days old lol

I started my locks today and African lady twisted my hair with gel and a comb is this right?? I look like I have dandruff in my hair
I am almost to my year mark and my hair is barely brushing shoulder. I was told not to do too many styles to often because it will thing and break my young locks. mine still doesn't hang well on its own less its Freshly resisted and it will only hang a few days😂😂
Can you start dreads with African Shea Butter? Of course with another product? +ClaytonLogagn
Yes you can, I used that for a while on my locs just make sure you don't use an overwhelming amount.. it could easily weigh your dreads down.
Emmanuel Capers I retwist with that mixed with essential oils.
Ok so what if you can't afford getting retwisted & styled ?? 🤔🤔 Help plz
I qjust got my locs today!
I’ve been natural for 8 yrs now and starting my locs in September... what size or does it matter to start off with ?

is eco styler gel a good retwisting product?
Absolutely not lol
No gel is a good alternative
Clayton Logan, Not even aloe vera?
