      Hi, that's why I learned to do my own hair at a young age. My single mom couldn't afford for me to get it done and she didn't know how to do hair.

    Listen you just made my day! My hair started dreading about a year ago and I just was like cool, I’ll see what it does. Now I’m in love but I’ve never gone anywhere to get them done and trying to stay as natural as possible. You even gave the tip about essential oils. Sis, thank you! Subscribed!

      LoccyMeesh thx, let me know how it works when you try it. I originally started using them because it was cheaper to get fewer clips that help more locs than the smaller clips and it ended up working out.

    Good tip on flat twisting up the front locs and then palm rolling down the rest of the loc. My front roots always look fuzzy and the parts are more rectangular than square. This may be the best way to work them when retwisting... Will giv it a try next wash/retwist. Thanks!

      Omg yes. I am a firm believer in that saying that goes, “give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime”. I learned that at the young age and from then on I knew that in order to survive I had to make sure I didn’t depend on others. How did I just get that deep from a hair video, 🤷🏾‍♀️. Thanks for watching 🥰

    • @forevertrue06
      @forevertrue06  6 років тому

      I would say every 4 weeks is a good start but see how your hair takes that. If it’s getting too thin at the roots you may need to go 5 weeks. But the main thing is that you don’t want to over re twist because your Locs will thin out

    Genuinely curious. Does combing hair during retwisting prevent it from locing quickly?

    • @forevertrue06
      @forevertrue06  5 років тому +1

      I say yes and no. Combing it helps to push the matted hair up against the already Loc’d hair so that I can twist what wasn’t matted or fully loc’d. This creates a “cleaner” retwist.
      But simple just not twisting at all and just separating the hair at the root (like a semi free form) would probably be the fastest way to get you hair to loc.

    • @TW-mg3ld

    • @__babyface

      @@forevertrue06 I do have 4 clips. My dreads have in braids since it got re-did back in February & need a re-do. My scalp is dry & I'm afraid to take loose my dreads/braids because I might mess up & not know what to do next. I looked at 5 tutorials today & came across yours. My name is Ken. Im learning about what "palm rollling" means.

    • @forevertrue06
      @forevertrue06  4 роки тому +1

      _1990_babyface yes you definitely need to take your hair down and get that scalp clean, massaged and oiled.
      Get more clips. And I believe I showed how to palm roll in this vid but if not there are a ton of vids on it. But start with cleaning your hair. You can do this, washing your hair actually helps it to loc up better because it tangles the hair. But make sure you separate each loc after you wash it so they don’t get matted together. Sorry it’s kind of hard to explain in text especially since i don’t know how your hair looks.

    • @__babyface
      @__babyface 4 роки тому

      @@forevertrue06 Thanks its been like a week since I washed while it was still in braids, but I'm African American. Ive had braids since 2003 at 13 & wasn't allowed to have dreads as a teenager. I had my hair in twists before at 19. Then last year at 29, I wanted dreads & my aunt started twisting my hair into dreads/braids. My hair is damaged from hot comb alopecia throughout my teens & early 20s. To make a long story short, I was thinking about a new style for my dreads as well & hoping my hair will still holdup. I am taking a lot of notes from this video. My hair has locked up & kinda matted.

    • @forevertrue06
      @forevertrue06  4 роки тому

      Maybe put conditioner on your hair because washing them while they are still in braids can cause them to kind of matte or get stuck together, if that happens the conditioner can help to loosen them up without causing too much damage. Let me know how things go. Scalp massages are really good too and I’ve used castor oil on my scalp throughout the years to help with thinning.

      I ran to the store ingot some locking gel.. took me a min to figure out which way to twist it but I'm just getting done.. took about a hour and a half.. kinda drying it now! We'll see how it turns out but however it turns out I'm sure its better than it was a two hours ago!
