Low FODMAP is fantastic regardless. The point is to reduce back all triggers to basic foods for 4 weeks then gradually add foods back in over 3 day basis. Its very simple to do. It even covers all of these 3 categories. Dont peddle things like this when the diet can help all of those, youre prolonging people getting the help they need. People dont need to assume what they may or may not have, starting from the ground up with a food and symptom diary is the smartest and quickest way to go.
Agreed! It’s a shame someone might see this video and think that getting rid of onions and garlic will help them. He’s framing “low FODMAP” as if it’s a long-term diet, when in fact it’s something used to diagnose trigger foods and sensitives.
Heck, someone may be able to eat onion and garlic fine in small quantities, and it’s really legumes (galactans) that are giving them issues. But they won’t know that unless they do the Low-FODMAP diet as it’s intended.
I was here just to clarify this, glad you already did ❤ It's a system not a diet
What’s fodmap diet please
I think your comment in addition to the 3 subjects he said actually make a really great resource! All good things to consider. He’s right about stress, which means ultimately making lifestyle changes for self-care. If symptoms aren’t “as bad” I disagree bc that could be early warning sign in some cases.
I have cured my ibs by eating fermented rice
Fructans are in so much more than just onions and garlic. However, I substitute garlic with garlic oil and onions with the green parts of leeks or spring onions. You can also use chives and garlic chives.
I was without a job for 2 months (quit previously) and I was the happiest person in the world. No IBS no anithing. Now I started the new job and my problems are back.
This is definetly interesting!
My husband is on the diet but his symptoms are like 60% when stressed and 40% after eating
Me : Searches Low Fodmap
The First Video : Do Not Consume LowFodmap Diet 💀
I have IBS and SIBO. Antibiotics made it worse. The low-FODMAP diet didn't work, but the carnivore diet has been very successful. I know several other friends and family members who had a similar experience.
Thanks for sharing!
This is exactly me and what has been going on. It’s ridiculous. I too started just eating pretty much meat, fish and eggs and I’m doing better but I still bloat from time to time and it’s not good and when I eat gluten, I get heart palpitations it’s just crazy.
All thanks to covid or vaccination either one is the culprit
@@wendylee13heart palpitations from gluten? Hm might be inflammation. Do you take any supplements?
It may not be gluten. I was diagnosed with PVC and PAC, which is simply extra needs, but I just find that about 10 minutes after I eat and it’s usually something with carbs. I usually start getting them but it’s probably just because my blood sugar spikes and that could be the reason who knows. Added electrolytes into my morning routine and they’ve seem to have lessened so could’ve been not enough water.
Hitting the treadmill has helped me, that build up from not stressing yourself was my issue even with anxiety issues
Low fodmap reduced my suffering by 70%! Onions garlic and high fructose corn syrup are the worst!
_Nobody_ should be eating high fructose corn syrup!! It’s one of the most unhealthy things a person can ingest.
@@bananafyan Yes all foods you mentioned are problematic. Peaches and pears are plumes (fruit with a pit) and have a type of sugar that causes problems..apples, cherries, mango. Good fruits are banana grapes strawberries and blueberries. I have a theory about gluten/wheat. In Italy they have no gluten problems and they consume tons of it however they process the wheat differently. The U.S. does an enrichment process and i believe that to be the culprit. Plz try the low fodmap diet. Good luck to you.
@@krystinaland4137I don’t understand if a processing step is causing Americans illness why it’s not removed.
@@viridianhughes219 it's intentional. Companies are making billions from over the counter and prescription drugs. Sad world we live in.
@@krystinaland4137 what makes Italy so special
I’ve always said when I’m away I can eat what I want and my stomach is fine, when I’m home everything makes me bloated
This sounds almost like mold exposure
Opposite for me, whenever I have food when I’m out it always makes me bloated
I had insane symptoms, but the trigger is basically only, and only, alium (garlic onion leek and that family) caused. Cut those out, no more problems, but i cant fucking eat anything anymore i fucking hate this.
maybe you can try adding asofetida (Indian spice similar to onion taste) and wild garlic?
Absolutely right bro, stressful environment trigger ibs symptoms
But I don't wanna stop eating onion or garlic 😭
Same 😭
Gosh, i know. I could live on just onion and garlic. 😍 I'm carmelizing some onions now.😊
It might not be a trigger for you, but you won’t know unless you give it up and see if your symptoms improve.
The purpose of the low FODMAP diet is to figure out which of the FODMAPs you are sensitive to. It’s not meant to be on long term. It can take up to two months to complete, but after that that you only have to avoid the foods that give you issues
🧅🧄 I hear you guys. I eat them daily. But come on, we can go without for a few weeks to determine triggers. I did a juice fast for almost 90 days, so this seems easy in comparison, right? We can do this!! 💪
My husband just started low FODMAP, while reading about the diet the no garlic or onion broke my little Slavic heart! But it is just 6 weeks and hopefully it will help him.
I don't have many symptoms. I am sure it is psychological. When I am concentrating on other things it doesn't happen. It started when I lost someone close. Thank you for saying what I always thought. 🙏
Thanks for sharing!
I’m new to all of this and my symptoms seem to be from stress and anxiety as well. What are your symptoms? Mine is mainly having trouble swallowing. I was given this diet( list of foods to avoid), but I’m seriously confused coz some of the foods listed are also on the food list of stuff I can have. This alone is going to stress me out.
@@1ronmad1n There you've said it stress. I am not a doctor but IBS isn't life threatening so stop worrying. It's a pain in the backside literally.😊 I started having smaller meals 5 times a day. No skipping meals. So what if you have a bit of gas, everyone does. I believe over 75% of people have IBS. Relax and concentrate on other things. Good luck. 🤗
@@hannahhardy7557I’ve been struggling with digestive problems, and your words truly brought some stress relief, so thank you 🙏
I have endometriosis and when it gets bad my intestines can't move causes obstruction. B4 it's been bad and I was practically starving for 18 months I was in so much pain and turned out my entire left side if my intestines were stuck to my abdominal wall. I'm in this situation again and waiting to get in for surgery and takes forever waiting on appointments. I can't eat normally while I wait I get too sick and too much pain. But need to do something to keep up while I'm waiting next few months. In bad flare yrs before I was lucky to intake 500 calories a day. Currently living on guacamole, I'm craving fat and protein I almost went looking for bone marrow today. I have to be on soft diet or I get really sick and get complete or partial obstruction. But I don't know how to do that and feed myself properly. My husband trys to help me and noticing if I don't eat. Bought me pho today. Boiling bones for broth tomorrow so I can freeze some too. I have barrettes esophagus too and Gerd is worse when my endometriosis is worse. My body start throwing up as my body last ditch effort if I get too obstructed
Just bagged up so much food feeling pretty upset about how much is going... But I know stress is the main trigger for me and my doctor agrees. Feel better from seeing that maybe I really shouldn't be going so hard core and just cut the worst out first. Really good timing seeing this
❤
I am one and two😢 Sadly, I don't know how to stop the stress unless I literally quit my stressful job.
No onion and no garlic??? 😭😭😭
STRESS FOR ME, everytime we go on vacation or go to family gatherings, I don't feel my IBS symptoms or nothing at all even if I drink alcohol and eat anything I want! but when I'm at home, My symptoms persist
I had a food poisoning that was pretty intense back in December 2023 and ever since then my intestines have been unable to digest anything other than low fodmap food. I had to cut out like 60 to 70% of all food. I was used to eating and that anyone who has normal healthy gut can eat. I found out a few weeks ago that there is a thing called post infection irritable bowel syndrome and looks like I have it. I read online that around 40 to 50% of people can get rid of it that it will just go away after sometime if they keep up with the low fodmap diet but many other people are stuck with it forever
If he had just admitted that the first rule he gives is literally him telling you to follow the low-FODMAP diet (not the whole diet, but one smaller piece of the diet), I wouldn't have an issue with this video. But yeah, the "M" in FODMAP stands for "monosaccharides," aka fructose, aka fructan. (And he's right. Some people, myself included, can reduce a huge chunk of their overall discomfort just by removing fructans, aka onions, garlic, etc., from their diet.)
But why do we put up with people being careless and not giving complete information. It detracts from people's ability to make good decisions, you know?
My IBS is caused by anxiety, not food (as i know)
Eat lots of healthy protein and fat, get plenty of sunshine and sleep and eat at regular Times.
Stay active with weight training and meditate.
How can't I suffer from anxiety when IBS gave me badbreath, I don't wanna go out with friends or be with anyone else . It's so stressful, I dont wanna live anymore😢
Hey how are things going? Have you done anything to help with this ?
@@goatgaming9191 still no improvement, I wanna die😭
I shit blood so Im pretty sure it’s past fodmap
I removed garlic.. but I never removed onions . I love onions 😢 gonna try low fodmap as well...
Good luck, I have more info here if it helps: www.dietvsdisease.org/diverticulitis-diet/
Would that include thiamine vitamin since it comes from garlic?
I have it in waves. Once I trigger my stomach with a very unusual food, it starts, and when I change my diet to something lighter, it stops.
Hope you find what works for you
How about you go to the doctor and do a blood test and eat for your own bloodline.you'll be fine. Unfortunately not all advice are good for others. A lot of people are missing on the blood diet. Everyone is different not everything they put on their mouth that we should do it too. It can worsen our condition.
I have severe indigestion, minor bloating, fatigue and minor brain fog symptoms. Please someone suggest me the type of diet i should take 😢

Omg the holiday thing!!!!! I was so healthy!!!!! in Bali
Right!
If you go on a vacation with a different diet & lifestyle, wouldn't that different diet & lifestyle help you lower FODMAP? It's not the psychological trigger
I have cured my ibs by eating fermented rice
Yeah I have celiacs disease and my stomach is rarely happy even on a full GF diet. I think tomatoes, onions, garlic are definite triggers. However - I went on a trip to Japan for a month (I'm from the UK) years ago, and from day 1 my bowel movements were amazing. Wtf do I do? Quit my job to get an improved gut? My job isn't insanely stressful (software engineer) but there's definitely that background stress level that never goes away.
It is tricky because it sounds not just good that is responsible for your symptom severity
What are you supposed to do if your trigger is psychological? 🤔
It's going to depend on the root cause of those triggers, but the key to address them with a suitably qualified gut directed therapist if possible, or a psychologist, psychotherapist or counsellor.
Stress can exacerbate conditions, but it's rarely the sole cause. Talk to your doctor, and consider seeing a health educator, dietician or nutritionist.
For stress try exercise 💪 and meditation 🧘♂️ 15 minutes 2-3 times a day 😊
I can't find any SIBO testing. Where I live Quest diagnostics has a monopoly. What would be a SIBO test I can look for?
Genova Diagnostics 3h SIBO test or Triosmart.

Damn i spent my childhood and teens in Drs getting blood tests having my tummy prodded given medication and have never heard of SIBO or ever been given an allergy test which I still can’t afford. Cutting out dairy helped but every medication I’m given has lactose in it and it took me so long to find this out and despite asking the Drs to write it on my records I always have to go back for something different after talking to a pharmacist. I missed so much school and was always late and in pain because of it, is that really not worth the allergy or SIBO tests on the NHS. They said IBS and gave up looking for what’s wrong and I got so tired I did too, damn I see hemorroides in my future ☠️
So eat Jain food?
What if we’re pregnant??
You would be best to seek clearance from your gynaecologist/PCP and to work with a dietitian who understands pregnancy nutrition needs alongside the low FODMAP diet.
