    Sorry that part two took a little longer than expected to get up! You can check out part 1 here: ua-cam.com/video/Tn2ym7i7vy4/v-deo.html
    And please no comments 'this isn't minimalist!' because minimalism isn't a competition nor is it defined by how little you own. I share my 'minimalism series' in the hope to inspire others to reduce their consumption of things, make sustainable swaps, get into DIY etc. This is what I took and the reasons why, and it fits into my version of minimalism, which most likely will differ from yours. Yes I could have brought less stuff, and often I do! But I chose to bring what I did for a multitude of my own reasons. Anyway, hope you enjoyed the video, and everything is linked in the description!

    Maddie, you are so inspiring! I’ve cleared out 70% of my belongings which I didn’t use after binge watching your minimalism videos over and over again, and my life is now so much less stressful and decluttered 🙌🏻 I’m so grateful for your inspiration and just wanted to say thank you.
    Now moving over to natural beauty as well, but my problem is that I have stubborn acneprone skin that is both dry and oily... hoping that you have a cleanser or moisturizer/oil recommendation for my skin type?
    Lots of love from Denmark ❤️

    • @MadeleineOlivia
      @MadeleineOlivia  6 років тому +3

      Yay this makes me so happy! Switching to your own homemade products will do wonders for your acne-prone skin! My best advice is to check out my ebook as I go into great detail surrounding what works best for different skin types and what oils to use for your skin: www.madeleineolivia.co.uk/ebooks

      Use moisturizing cleansers or real african black soap for acne skin since we need a thorough cleanse that doesn’t strip the skin. To moisturize people say mango butter is good although I haven’t tried it myself and as far as oils go I highly recommend grapeseed oil as it is non-commedogenic and tea tree oil for anti-inflammatory purposes. Has worked amazingly for my acne :)

      I had this problem forever with my skin, and I started using oils on it. The oil in my skin balanced out and my acne started to go away. Try it. I was so scared of oils for so long but now I can't live without them.

    Okay, so I've been using bamboo toothbrush for quite a time, for 3 or 4 changes, so, almost a year, and my gums and tooth went just crazy. You are the first person ever who talked about this, and I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one having issues with that... Honestly, I haven't considered the bamboo as the source of my oral hygine problems, but hearing you made me think and now I'm in a relieved ah-ha! moment. Thanks for sharing this info!

    • @MadeleineOlivia
      @MadeleineOlivia  6 років тому +1

      They’re definitely great if you don’t have issues but if you do, put your oral health first! Highly recommend the toothbrush I have! Has been the main reason my sensitivities have gone

    Hi Maddie :) i really love tour work :) just to let you know that bergamote essential oil increase skin sensitivity when exposed to the sun... Usually It's an essential oil that we are not supposed to use on the skin cause it can actually burn your skin :(

    Try oil from Chilean hazelnut (Gevuina avellana), it smells so good and you can use it as sun cream and moisturizer as well. I’ve been using it for about three years, I got tanned better than people using chemical sun cream. I got sun burned just a little bit on shoulders, so I would recommend using it few times a day for first days on vacation.

    For those traveling to Thailand: You will find bottles of coconut oil just about anywhere. Look in the haircare section of the supermarket or even 7. Look at the ingredients, because sometimes they’re not 100%. I like the spray bottles. They’ll stay liquid unless you use cold AC or there’s a cold snap. There’s one kind that smells sooo good. Some smell decidedly less good, though.

  • @annelisabethcom
    @annelisabethcom 6 років тому

    For longer travel, there’s an electric toothbrush that uses two AA batteries. It’s not as strong as a rechargeable one, but for months away, it’s a good compromise. It’s a Braun one. I saw some with a built in battery in Thailand a year when my Braun one broke. Not as good as the one with exchangeable batteries.

    I recommend Shade sunscreen for a zero waste alternative, only thing is it has beeswax in it. Don't try to diy something with zinc oxide because the zinc oxide clumps on a particle molecular level meaning that the spf if uneven.

    I've been OBSESSED with Raw Elements. The tinted facial moisturiser doesn't white cast, is fully vegan, zero waste tin, all natural and reef safe, every certification you could imagine for environment friendliness and effectiveness. I'm allergic to almost everything, and cannot wear most things for more than an hour without discomfort, but I accidentally fall asleep in this sometimes because I forget I'm wearing it. It works with swimming, bright sun, sweat, anything! I really couldn't believe people saying how perfect it is, but they are right! Cannot recommend enough! Get the body one too. I don't know the conversion but it is under $20 US dollars after shipping, but it lasts forever because you don't even really have to reapply, do not need a lot, and can use all of it because it is in a tin. Hope you try it out, and enjoy your trip! :-)
    Their regular untinted face and body sunscreen is great if you are paler, and you get a larger tin for the same price.

    My fav natural/vegan/cruelty free sun cream is from mychelle dermaceuticals! I also like the sensitive skin sunscreen by alba bontanica, and the sun cream from first aid beauty. I recently got one from derma e, as well, and I have high hopes for it. Of course, it all depends on how natural you want your natural products to be, ya know?

    One thought, I would consider skipping the oil in the morning and use something else. Citrus, bergamot, lavender and several essential oils actually increase photosensitivity, so if you burn easy they will exacerbate that issue. Maybe use them at night, rinse them off before going out, and or leave them out all together.
    I believe EltaMD is vegan and Cruelty-Free (they were listed as such on a vegan website) and they make a really nice physical or mineral sunscreen SPF 41 with a slight tint so it masks any white cast. Having said that, the U.K. and Asia have a lot more variety in sunscreens then what is offered in the states so you may have more options there.

    I used to use a funky soap shampoo bar (they’re based in london!) that i got off from etsy and a cider vinegar rinse to get rid off the weird shampoo bar film and build up from the bath’s hard water! Also, coconut oil for life. I’m finding coconut oil or shea butter as a good moisturiser for my eczema, and rinsing my sensitive/eczema face with oats really helped. :D protip: aloe vera makes a decent makeup primer too.
    I’ve got humble toothbrushes, they’re much softer for sensitive teeth. ^^” (i’ve got sensitive teeth too. :c)
    quite happy to find a locally made toothpaste here that doesn’t hurt my sensitive teeth too, and I can get it in bulk. o.o
