To everyone who keeps stating that it's Jack White playing the guitar, I urge you to please rewatch the beginning of "It Might Get Loud". It is very obvious that Jimmy Page is playing this tune. In the beginning of the film Jack White does build a ONE STRING wood block guitar and plays it momentarily. Then he says "who says you need to buy a guitar?". Immediately after it cuts to Page playing this tune, Embryo No. 1, during the opening credits of the film. He is playing it on a Les Paul and is CREDITED at the end of the movie for being the performer for that song. It is called Embryo No. 1. I did not make up that title. So much so that Jimmy Page even has a song called Embryo No. 2 which is obviously played by him as well. I love Jack White like a little brother, but he did not play this. So stop saying that he did. Thank you.
He is not playing it on a Les Paul. He is playing it on the same ES-350T with P90 pickups, he played In My Time of Dying. That guitar is set up for open D tuning, so he can easily use a slide.
All due respect to Jack White - I love the dude - but I do not think he could ever produce a tone as raw, powerful, and earth-shattering as this. Even without Jimmy Page being literally ON THE SCREEN AS THIS IS PLAYING, I would still guess he played it, due to the sheer primal force of this song.
For all of you naysayers, there is a version of Embryo no. 1 somewhere online. It just isn't on UA-cam. I remember. I heard it when it was uploaded. There was an upload, but it seems it was taken down. This upload, that is taken from the documentary 'It might get loud' is the closest thing we'll ever get to the original recording.
Embryo -- sounds like Jimmy is referencing the early guitar playing of Blind Willie Johnson w that name of the song. Blind Willie did lots of slide stuff. Jimmy's putting a modern sounding guitar on it.
It’s obvious by the sound and the tone that he’s playing on that hollow body using a slide that he used played In My Time of Dying there (and at the O2). That isn’t Jack White.
@@samanderson6079a lot of this is the volume and micing technique. A lot of LZ1 was also the same technique, distance creates depth. This sounds like it’s from the other side of the room, as well as low gain, and cranked volume. Most likely was recorded in the storage room with his equipment, from the Ramble On clip
It wouldn't surprise me if that's a vintage Supro or a Vox amp using the volume level just enough to break the sound up - coupled with his Solotone Tone Bender peddle. There's a lot of gritty stank on that gitfiddle he's buzzsawing here.
I think I know what amp page used here, this sounds similar to his custom 100 hiwatt amp that he used during the 1970 royal albert hall show. It has similar fuzz.
This is slide guitar from around the time of traveling riverside blues. or pre yard birds ,iv 71/72 this one is earspliting could be from eric clapton blues experiments at page's boat house period,

'I love Jack White like a little brother' - Nice reference.
well said. Also, anyone who says it's Jack is stupid because there are clearly multiple strings being played.
@@3Domega You know I gave that horse a carrot so it'd break your foot
@@largoatramedes9072 Well the two of you cut it out, and tell em what's really all about!

The sound is just phenomenal, He's not playing the guitar, he's chopping a forest down with a chain saw.
lol It does feel like that! haha
It's the Embryo of In My Time of Dying.

Yep that’s it. I thought it was Jack White at first and was surprised when the camera showed Jimmy’s face
His tone is incredible here. I would love to know what amp he was using to get this tone
He used Marshall’s and orange amps for the playing in this movie, in other parts you can see them both on.

And you’ve gotta remember, people…this is totally influenced by American music…roots Blues from the Mississippi Delta.

+micheal hills Or just Jimmy made it for the movie?....
+micheal hills It does say in the credits that it's written by Jimmy Page.
+Connor B it is Page playing. It's ripped from the beginning of the documentary "It Might Get Loud"
Jimmy. Fucking. Page.
is there a tape echo on this?
Nope. Just a hair of plate reverb.
A little more focus & bass n drums........this could be killer. Rock on Jimmy. Love it.👌

Michael C Nope. Watch the movie again
Michael C it’s clearly jimmy. Idk how you don’t know that and you just assume stupid shit
Michael C it shows jimmy boy pretty clearly. When i say clearly, i mean his face.
ding dong you're wrong
It's page they show page playing it I believe either way if you look at the guitar and hands in the film it should obviously be page
Well, actually Jack White's playing the song.
Naw
you new to music? Does that sound like one string or six?
Where Can I found this song played by Jack White?
if you look at the movie. It's clearly Jimmy Page playing this
