@ swordgoti I grew up in the 60s and was a big Zep fan. Four Sticks was one of the few songs of theirs that I didn't like. I'd always pick up the needle and move it on to the next track (as you did back in the day). But I saw them live on this tour many years later, and this version simply blew my mind. I can still remember the intensity on the face of one of the girls on strings, simply magical. I will treasure this performance as long as I live.
Vinienne S Exactly!! I crack up whenever I hear people call Rush the Canadian Led Zeppelin. there's no such thing lol, ain't no limp blimp here, just the Zep!!
The middle eastern interlude makes me imagine a beautiful bunch of horses racing in the desert. Hossam Ramzy is a rhythm genius. What a glorious version.
Darn, what a sheer joy it is to hear Jimmy Play drug free. You forget just how good a guitarist and innovative that man truly is. And of course no one can sing it better than Plant. The Page Plant stuff from the 1990s are a true gem. I wish I'd paid more attention to them.
I was brought up on led zep, my mother used to listen to them. I’ve been addicted to their sound since childhood. It’s been the soundtrack to my travelling adventures across Egyptian desert in my 20’s and now into my 40’s. I would love to see them live. They are pure amazing. Pure talent.
A huge vast improvement of classic LZ track - all the drums are a great blast here, and the strings add a sheer gusto. The final power chords are a tremendous success
Brilliant performance of this iconic song and I think the Egyptian orchestra gives such authenticity to this song .. I never get tired of heating it after all these many years 😎✌️
LED ZEPPELIN AND PAGE AND PLANT WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS THE MOST BRILLIANT MUSICIANS EVER, PUT THEM UP THERE WITH MOZART, BACH, BEETHOVEN, AND ANY OTHER COMPOSERS AND MUSICIANS THAT PEOPLE WILL TALK ABOUT FOR HUNDREDS OF YEARS.
So many arguments, i.e. "They borrowed enough material from their predecessors, to make them infamous." Did Mozart go on stage with an armadillo in his pocket like Plant? How can one even compare them? I am no musician. Therefore I have to plagiarize from what others have written, to form an opinion and present a counterpoint. What is my point? Bach apparently was forgotten for some time. Vivaldi died poor. There is nothing new under the sun, and everybody is influenced by someone or something, so borrowing in music is unavoidable. Will they talk about Led Zeppelin hundreds of years from now? Hard to tell. They probably should, based on this type of criteria, (which I found/ borrowed from someone else): "Craftsmanship in Music Composition The elements that constitute good craftsmanship in a composer are impossible to define with complete objectivity, but most authorities would agree that a few skills are essential: 1. Knowledge of technical musical conventions and the ability to apply them consistently 2. Expertise in the three dimensions of musical texture - monophony, homophony, and polyphony - and the ability to apply them when appropriate 3. Expertise in the three dimensions of instrumentation - the sound of individual instruments, the limitations and capabilities of instruments, and the blending of different timbres together. 4. Ability to produce novel musical ideas on both small and large scales. 5. Ability to take musical ideas and develop them to the fullest extent. 6. Ability to create in a variety of genres." www.bach-cantatas.com/Articles/Defense-Bach[Reese].htm I think Page/Plant/Bonham/Zeppelin fit this criteria for greatness well. I hope you are right!
We were lucky to see the tour they did with this ensemble. Must say, it was great. We took our teen daughter,as we knew this would probably never be repeated. Awesome.
At 2.28 Jimmy realises that it all coming together with a smile that says. We got this. I can imagine this is what they were thinking when they wrote it
When I first heard this version, I didn't recognize the song! This version is exquisite and absolutely timeless. So happy to hear Robert singing this in his natural range - it gives it new beauty and gravity that it always cried out for before. Perfection.
This song will never fail to bring up memories of June/July 1980, hot days and river walks in Cottonwood AZ... it's like it was made for that place at that time
I bought Zeppelin IV a few weeks back and I love it! On my way to work, I start w/When The Levee Breaks and work my way up w/out skipping a song. So far, this and Physical Graffiti are my favorite albums. I agree this song is a hidden gem. I get excited every time my CD player queues it. Someone on one of the other Page & Plant pages complained about the songs not sounding like the album. This is what I mean when I say having the essence of the song. Sometimes it even sounds better than the record. This is an example!
KILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn this is good... No wonder I love Zeppelin. Always have!! When a song is so darn good it cannot be any better!!! This is one of those --- for sure!!!!!!! The strings make it so much better!!!!! Love it............
Love Four Sticks so much though I can barely hear that "clicking" sound from the sticks..but I think the drummer did an awesome job on this and I love it. I only found 1 live version of this track in Copenhagen 1971.. the best ever.
Bonzo did many takes on this song, even got frustrated with it, they only played four sticks just a handful of times because how hard and difficult it was for them to get it right
this is when one or more souls are joined together in love, without some attempt to control the human race, the hightest form of making love and at times without man's original sin, how can it be anything but incredibly beautiful: creation in action, this one: you just saved my life, tonight, sugar bear, going to listen to it multiple times and pass out........
Really the original recording was performed by the band in the studio with limited effects and just studio musicianship involved. Yet this performance with multiple musicians performing the music of Led Zeppelin over 20 years later is vastly superior. Man I Guess you weren't around back then too hear utter magic from the turntable like I was .
@@mrsmokeydog7830 I love the 1st version. The first one cuts the deepest. It's like a machete cutting through the rainforest to find the treasure of Montezuma Mal Deep
I've always loved Four Sticks, but this version is just brilliant.
swordghoti Me too! It's a rare jewel- one of the most unique songs on the Zoso album. 🔥💎
Indeed.
The best version of one of the best songs ever on music's history.
And with Hossam Ramzy !!
Played it with sub speaker on?
I saw it in concert and a bit into the song a sub drum comes in and melts the audience.
@ swordgoti I grew up in the 60s and was a big Zep fan. Four Sticks was one of the few songs of theirs that I didn't like. Jimmy always seems happiest when teamed with Robert.
The definitive mix of rock and egyptian music,,this is pure ancestral energy of music...
Musical alchemy
This song was only played once in concert live by the real Led Zep (Copenhagen, 1971), so to hear this great live version is certainly a gift.
no video though and that suck's, my fav LZ tune, this is Awesome.
Certainly some of their best work.

twice actually - You can find the Odense, Denmark recording from the following day (its, as youd expect, an incredible show)
Totally agree - to hear it live is amazing
The amazing Michael Lee! RIP... what an astounding drummer he was. Joyous, powerful!
A fitting salute to the late great John Bonham. Left us way too soon.
Jimmy with that smile. Hes having the best time . Great version, luv the strings . 🤗🤘
WOW! JESUS, WHEN THE HEAVY BEAT OF THE DRUMS COMES IN, WOW!!!!!!!!!! JUST LIKE IF JOHN WAS THERE, WHAT A GREAT THING TO DO FOR HIS MEMORY!
PHENOMENAL NO BAND CAN EVER COMPARE!!!!!!
Vinienne S Exactly!! I crack up whenever I hear people call Rush the Canadian Led Zeppelin. there's no such thing lol, ain't no limp blimp here, just the Zep!!
Vinienne Beatles 1
Michael Lee is pure joy to watch.....no wonder Page and Plant chose him for their tours.....hard to believe he is gone.....
Yeah, rip. You can see the joy on his face
Holy hell, this version gave me goosebumps!!
The middle eastern interlude makes me imagine a beautiful bunch of horses racing in the desert. Hossam Ramzy is a rhythm genius. What a glorious version.
Jimmy was just such a huge composer .. powerful...
God bless the late great Michael Lee, a genius on the drums.
The greatest band ever to be seen in the Universe.
When you hear a Zep tune you think, dam that's my favorite, but then, all of them are!!!!!! They're simply the greatest band ever!!!!!!!
This band changed the world!

The time signature and rythm is genious. What a great band LedZeppelin
The main theme is in 5/4 then it switches to 3/4 for the bridges and chorus. Love it.

Robert Plant is playing live these days in the UK...
Love, love, love this Egyptian Orchestra. Can't sit still.
Love this version! Musical geniuses!!
Saw them play this twice in 95 in California. Was absolutely brilliant.
Just found this in 2020 - love the Egyptian Flavour to this classic
I was lucky enough to see this tour. It was amazing.
A huge vast improvement of classic LZ track - all the drums are a great blast here, and the strings add a sheer gusto. The final power chords are a tremendous success
💃🏻🕺🏿How can these people can sit still?? This version is grooving.
I am amazed at what these men can do. So good, for so long. I still smile when I hear and watch them. Much joy over the decades. One of the best!
Brilliant performance of this iconic song and I think the Egyptian orchestra gives such authenticity to this song .. I never get tired of heating it after all these many years 😎✌️
The drummer REALLY played with four sticks !... 👍
So much emotion and depth, fantastic rendition.
I love Jimmy♥
HOLY HELL! that was amazing. Both the studio and this one are amazing recordings! jeez thats awesome!
holy shit that was amazing!!!!!!! wow
Possibly my favourite track on this album. Magical.
My inspiration 4ever
Great song!🎸😉
THAT WAS MAGNIFICENT!!!!!!!! THANKS!
Outstanding! I would have loved to have been there when they recorded this event.
Pages strumming is addictive
Such a wonderful song.
This is absolutely epic!!
All you musicians are truly gifted!

to leave jonesy and bonham out almost most your comment redundant..
You forgot JPJ and Bonzo. Without all 4 there is no Led Zeppelin.

the drummer is a genius!!!
Masterpiece.

the pleasure of playing in the attitude of the drummer; man, speechless
Ese solo de violines es maravilloso!!

Love that drummer!
Kid is rocking the skins!
Love this version! Reminds me of Kashmir.
I was in Amsterdam when watching them in TV...definitely made my life happier
Best Music Live Performance on UA-cam.
Four sticks.... awesome.
So far the egyptian ensemble add-on is exceptional!!!
Seen them in 94 Orlando Florida. One of the best concerts I've ever seen
O.K. boys & girls this is rock & roll, make a note!!!! And creatively....
wow i didn't notice before that Michael Lee plays with 4 sticks.
I love how they love playing it.
Absolutely Beautiful.! The Hand Of Father God Is On Wonderful Musicians With Love! Amen 🙏 ✝️😊👍🏼🇺🇸
When o' when will I be given the gift of a live performance of these 2 demi-gods of music???!!! Just incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every time I hear anything from this album I am reminded how many awesome songs came from this one album. Not a weak one among the bunch.
A W E S O M E !
Increible maravillosa esta musica musica YA CLASICA DEL SIGLO 20

God I would love to have that Legend double-neck, thank you Ovation.
The forgotten song overshadowed by the rest of Zep IV; should not have been!
I end up listening to this song the most from that album by far, it's weird.
The best thing about Zeppelin, is that their real gems were always hidden in the shadows of their more popular songs
totally agree Robert. it has always been one of my faves
Overshadowed?! This is quintessential Zep! One of the most phenomenal songs I’ve ever heard. The ending is just fantastic!

This song, this version still shines.

No words but I feel it
Septiembre de 1995, Palacio de los Deportes, fue hipnótico, nos quedamos sin palabras
They seem to require a band of drummers to replace one Bonzo.
Bonzo himself founf the count difficult
Bonzo did many takes on this song, even got frustrated with it, they only played four sticks just a handful of times because how hard and difficult it was for them to get it right
Watch it buddy! Do you understand the name of the song??
Yet they found the closest and a great drummer to loose him also at young age as well as Bonzo
Yes, that was gonna be my comment but i see u beat me to it 9 years ago 😂😭✌️
my new favorite acoustic tune to play...
I use metal 5th bar chords for the triplet and then alternate the top 4 12fret harmonics and strings 2-5 harmonic...
It sounds really good
I think that if this drummer would have lived they MIGHT have toured again. God only knows. ❤
'There's a funny feelin' goin' on, I don't think I can hold out long.'
TNX FOR ALL
I feel like TOOL drew heavy inspiration from this song alone
And a lot of Pink Floyd.
The Greatest Unplugged concert of all Time!
Just Love IT ! I saw You in Buenos Aires Back in 1988/87
I saw hem twice in 1995 it wa so fantastic JImmy page play double neck acoustic guitar this asong he look so drunk yeahhhhhhh and still perfect
Saw them on tour!
Con queste sonorità li sento ancora più vicini al mio cuore 🧡

I could only imagine this live 🤔😉😬🎶🎵🎙🎸🥁💯⬇️💙
Nice treatment of this song. The single live recording of this from 71 encapsulates live LZ for me
This is excellent.
Exquisite! ROYALLY SUPPORTED!
Just slightly INTENSE, oh AMAZING
This is a good song.
