He said he admired that Eddie Vanhalen could smile while playing. Because he couldn't. He does get into it! He said he feels alive playing guitar on stage! I saw them twice in Denver and he danced all over and made some strange faces. But he was great!!! I've seen lots of bands. Zeppelin beat them all in their live shows!!!
Keith Moon joked they would 'go over like a lead balloon' - and they did, the Led Zeppelin soared above them all, and boy were they salty about it; Keith Richards, Clapton, Ginger Baker, Pete Townsend etc, like Hendrix, Zeppelin swaggered in and upturned the whole apple cart.
Also consider that just before Zeppelin he had literally worked in a hit factory writing songs a la carte, jingles, and such. He had great experience learning what musical structure generated the desired emotional effect. Then he and the boys took all of that and threw it against the wall with ferocity and reveled in the resulting creative catharsis. A they say, legends don’t know they’re going to be legends when they’re becoming legends.
You can hand Jimmy Page any stringed instrument, tuned any whacked out way you want, and in 5 minutes or less he’d be able to play it fluently. The guy knows theory and the fretboard better than anyone.

jimmy page when off stage is like a teddy bear.but when on stage,he's a freaking monster.live versions of dazed & confused are unbelievable to this day.
i love Jimmy's guitar work...he is my favorite guitarist from my favorite band. I was lucky enough to be in D.C. as a young Marine when the boys rolled through in '77 and I got to see them at the old Capitol Center. Best concert I have ever been to.
Yes that great drummer has mesmerised my young son and he now tirelessly works to play and be as skilled as “Bonzo”! He does a great Zeppelin few tracks so he’s getting the gist of his skills!
Page is such a reflective man. And maybe not simply because he's a man of "some experience" in life. Maybe just sitting playing alone and practicing for hours invites that type of reflective person in or molds a person to be so reflective.
@Halli Day Notice how your passion matches your skill sets and gifts. I tell young people "Find your passion and there you will find your talents." Guitarist from the Eagles said a few years back that his ability to play was aided by a system that was anchored pretty well. Now it's gone and new artists are going to have to make a new way. I see and hear young people listening to and playing my generations music. Last month while out I saw 2 cover bands playing at 2 different venues ( outside Bars and clubs ) in Saratoga Springs NY playing songs from the 70's, 80's and early 90's. The average age of the patrons was between 21-30 years of age with a few people who were under 21 years of age sprinkled in for good measure here and there. This phenomenon is both good as well as bad. Good in that it says something positive about my generation. Bad in that our young people are struggling to have their own identity. Our youth are being sold a bill of goods that lead to either death or prison or both. Either by dying in prison, or after being in prison. And God's Little Ones are being murdered in their beds. In their car seats while holding a Happy Meal. On the interstates.
The intoxication of his skill and absolute love of music creates the “musical heaven” of his references. Such talent is truly rare. However, it’s his adoration of crafting beautiful melody, comprised of light and shade whispered to the thumb which truly holds one captive. There is no one who compares.
Jimmy Page, what a guitarist! I was fortunate to see Zeppelin two times back in the 70’s. About the time Zeppelin two came out and in the summer of ‘74 at Tampa Stadium. Great concerts to see!
I was raised in Up State New York. In 2009 I was offered an apartment off 22nd North off 12th Street North in the Euclid District by the Catholic Church rectory in order to avoid paying the motel tax. In April of 2010 my house was completed in Hillsborough County Florida. I had become friends with a man who I had met at Church in Pinellas Park Florida. He is about 10 years older than I. He attended a Led Zeppelin concert in Tampa that year. I would have been around 10/11 years old. Small world.
Steve Howe of YES is the best, Jimmy did a commendable job of answering him with "The Song Remains The Same" in a very good attempt at Steve's style however.
Music of recent decades has come and gone and only pops up by random chance. Led Zeppelin and their iconic music are what legends are made off. Every person who has picked up a guitar has dreamed of mastering at least one of Jimmy’s riffs.

Jimmy Page is soft spoken in my opinion because, he is a true professional guitarist and has nothing to prove to anyone in his field.
