hola a todos, este es un video de actualización de este árbol de bonsai de Jacaranda, es mi último video este agosto de 2019. Miren el video y les agradezco si se suscriben a mi canal Tengo muchos más videos por venir. ¡muchas gracias!
Looks great! I started my blue jacaranda from seed back in January. It’s about 10 inches tall and trunk is still very thin. Any recommendations? I haven’t done anything with it but it’s very full in leaves. Thanks
Hello Kaley, it’s still very young, just let it grow. It will take years before the trunk gets bigger. During the growing season, always make sure that it’s moist. Water once a day but soaked. And it should get its sun to be healthy, but not burn.
I love my jacaranda. Several years in a row our temperatures in Florida got too cold and it died back to about 12". It was a perfect time to put it in the garden pot. What do you feed her?
Hi Nancy, you have a great weather for jacaranda there in Florida. We have Jacaranda here in So. California, but my area is colder during the winter and it has acclimated. I only feed my trees with miracle grow every two weeks and it healthy.
Hi. I'm new to bonsai. I just purchased a new jacaranda bonsai and I want to start off the right direction. Can you please give some advice? Also the tree has some lower brands that leaves turn yellow, upper brand still nice and green. Just wondering what wrong there? Thank you for your time.
Kevin Nguyen Hello! Jacaranda is a strong tree! Just make sure to water it and the soil should be moist all the time, but not too much. And it does need sun but not too strong. You have to fertilize it from spring to early fall. The lower leaves turned yellow probably because it’s old and new one will come out. Let me know if you’ll have anymore problems
Hey great videos, your Jacaranda is looking amazing! Mine is starting to grow a little too tall for my liking and the branches are still green rather than woody like yours. Can I still make a cut and if so where and what will happen? I live in Sydney and we are in our last month of summer.
Manuel Diewald Hello, it’s late summer, but it still going to grow. So yeah, I think you can cut. But make sure you cut in between the internodes. It’s actually a fast grower, and the branches lignify (woody) quickly. This tree is now growing a lot of small branches and it’s starting to buds and grown some new branches. It’s almost early spring here now in LA. Have fun with your jacaranda, they are great tree. Cheers mate!
@@lakeelsinorebonsai1203 Thank you so much for your help, that confirms some of the reading I have done. It is still growing well so I am confident it's ok to cut like yourself. They really are fun.
Abraham Rivera debería florecer así, pero como estoy entrenando el árbol para bonsai, la poda y la forma afectan al árbol para que florezca. cuando el árbol tiene forma de bonsai y minimiza la poda de las ramas más grandes, finalmente florecerá.
Hi, I have a jacaranda bonsai that is about 12" tall and it's growing from a single stem. Can you give me advice on how to prune it so that it has multiple branches?
Hi Garret, it’s late spring now and it’s the right time to prune. When the branches have 6 or 7 stems you cut it to the shortest nodes. And it will grow double from the last stem. I hope I explain it well.
Hello po!! I want to start a jacaranda bonsai. I have no experience in this department at all. My gardening skills are pretty decent. I have a few houseplants, herbs and veggies. I’ve revived weak and sick orchids in the past. I know the basics of gardening but would really love to learn and attempt bonsai. Where should I start and where is a good source for a seedling or a mature plant? Thank you po!! 🙏🏼
Hello mrl gutierrez , kunusta po! I’m glad you’re interested in bonsai, it really interesting and satisfying hobby. As long as you have the interest, you can do it . You don’t have to be an expert. You just have to be familiar with each species, which you will. There’s google . My advice is go for the mature trees. Its more exciting and faster. Watch a lot videos. Its not really hard. Check some of my videos last March, that’s all about repotting. Don’t hesitate to ask me anything when you need help
Jorge Gutierrez thank you! Yes it does take cold temperature, we have a 28’ F Last winter and it did well. I thinks it tropical but very strong cold hardy tree 🌳👍
Manuel Diewald , yes they do flower. When I got thus tree it has flowers. But because I constantly pruning and wiring it to shape, it hasn’t flower yet. It will be again when I got the ramification I like and leave it to grow small leaves
@@lakeelsinorebonsai1203 That's great, your tree is going to look really good when it flowers. Another quick question, once you stop pruning and let it grow, does it then start growing small leaves?
Hello, it is deciduous, so the foliage’s gone during the winter, so no need to defoliate it. But if you’re in the tropical area, I guess you can defoliate during the cooler season.
Hello! I also have some Jacaranda tree which i grow as a bonsai. Could you please tell me which Ph level a Jacaranda needs for the soil? In the internet every websites says something different
Christoph Loehr , hello, my soil in my area is acidic and my jacaranda loves it. Our water is too. I really haven’t check exactly yet, but I know it’s acidic. I’ll check it and let you know. By the way, I will have a new video update of my two jacarandas tomorrow. Thank you!
@@lakeelsinorebonsai1203 thank you very much! I planted a little jacaranda forest and the soil is 6,0- 6,5 ph level. I thought a soil for azalea with a ph level of about 4,0 - 5 was too acidic for the jacaranda. But i am not sure
Christoph Loehr , the 6.0 - 6.5 ph level is the perfect number for almost all trees and plants, but unfortunately we have lower number than that. But my jacarandas are doing well for years.
@@lakeelsinorebonsai1203 thats good to hear! Maybe i will do a test and plant some of my jacarandas in a azalea soil later. Do you know if the jacaranda likes chalk/lime? Our water here is very hard with much chalk/lime and i cant get rainwater. I always mix our tap water with some distilled water to make it more soft.
We have hard water as well. My plumber said our city is one of the city with really bad water. I don’t spray my trees with water because the leaves left a white water marks on them. Indication of high chlorine.

Yes, it will flower when it got matured. But when you started pruning it to bonsai, then it will stop flowering
