There's toilet paper rolls power ups when some enemies explode. That's when you know it's a 90s Beat 'em Up (or 80s, too). Stuff like that, or a full cooked chicken hidden in mail boxes in Streets of Rage (or cakes inside arcade cabinets) is part of the charm of those games. They don't make them like this anymore (well, ok Shredder's Revenge is a really good one but we need more, I want a Cadillacs & Dinosaurs sequel dammit).
Seibu Kaihatsu made some classic arcade games that only the Sega Saturn could have handled in the 90s. Of course the PS2 could have easily handled these games too but thats years later however.

i dunno, the main difference i see these days is arcade games were made to roll you for quarters, so you would have a fairly simple move-set to beat a few enemies, but unless you really were used to the games, the bosses had a lot of pretty unfair mechanics to get you pumping quarters, compared to the dotemu games like the new turtles games or streets of rage 5, since they dont need to roll you for cash, characters have a wider variety of moves and its a hell of a lot easier to dodge and counter attacks. so while the art was nice and id love some more retro fighters, i kind of like the evolution of the gameplay where i dont need to spam the few moves that the games's intelligence cannot figure out to have a shot against the unblockable screenwide shots the bosses fire off to shake me down for another 50 cents.
the 1st few punch(slap) combos for the lady character reminds me of the partially armored lady(Lt Kurosawa) from the Alien Vs Predator beat em up arcade game. edit1: 12:11 character portraits will have expressions for taking damage edit2: 14:58 - 15:22 bonus stage 😮 (thinks of the car from Street Fighter)
This seems like a mix of _Streets of Rage, Captain America and the Avengers,_ and maybe even a little _Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles._ That's not a bad mix of sources to take inspiration of at all, and it works really well in this game!

Played it at the skating ring years ago. Remember these white boys smoking The crap out of this game at my skate Arena. They didn't even get out either. They were almost to the end. Remember I came back and saw the Controls broken.😂 Don't know if they did it or someone Else.

I dare you to review the Japanese version of Vendetta. It was and still is the most non PC arcade ever created. Guns, stabbings, groin hits and, um.. well, lets just say, Red light district Unicorns. Most reviewers either lie about the game and hide some of the um more colorful elements out of fear of the invisible PC police coming after them. Sadly though, when people begin to police themselves is when a society is on its last leg.

Looks like Spin's design could've been inspired by a combo of 80's era Kelly LeBrock, Jaime Lee Curtis, and Sigourney Weaver.
This game for some reason had an inbuilt copyright protection which made it unplayable in MAME until very recently.
