I gotta say, it blows my mind that this and those Asura games existed, yet you barely hear anyone talking about them. It's like they exist in the underground or something. Props to everyone who sheds a light on them.
Street Fighter 3: New Generation was released in 1997, Double Impact came out with in a year, and Third Strike in 1999. Martial Masters was released in 2001. Even if it's an accomplishment in terms of sprite animation, and a solid release for a smaller developer... Martial Masters still comes across a lot like what it is: a Chinese knock-off. The gameplay doesn't hold up.
@wolfumz it's not that bad let alone 3rd strike nerfed Sean with that slow tackle lol. Nice soundtrack though. I'll play either one over sf6 with that tedious custom character mode. Appreciate both martial masters and sf3 are bundled in collections for less too, as well as capcom fighting collection/arcade stadium 1 and 2.
You can tell they had SF3 as their artistic direction but with a fraction of the budget, but the artists were so incredibly stellar they not only fulfilled their task but created something memorable and excellent of their own.
@@123TauruZ321 I can point out at least of dozen games on steam that have pixel graphics as well. Are they copies of street figher 2? None of those backgrounds are in SF 2 or 3. The character themselves have animations that arent found in SF. All the fighting games back from this time had the same pixel graphics which didnt have any real noticeable improvement until, at the least, Xmen vs Street Fighter...Is Samurai Showdown a copy of SF 2 as well ? Dark Stalkers lol? Now when Marvel Heroes and later Marvel vs Capcom the graphics were considerably better because they had to contend with MK and Killer Instinct.
I love how the characters are based on classic chop-socky Kung Fu films. Master Huang is obviously Wong Fei-Hung, Lotus Master is Pai Mei, and my favorite, Scorpion is Sonny Wang from Operation Scorpio.
That's some awesome animation and 2D art right there! Though it baffles me that this Arcade board did not support hardware transparencies despite being released 10 years after the SNES!
This one you can get for the Switch, it comes in a collection with other pretty good games too. I bought it for the Knights of Valour games but it also comes with this game and an awesome Metal Slug clone.
Awesome walkthrought,Loading Geek That fighter game is a masterpiece with all letters Red-Snake..i love you, babe🥵🥰😍😘🤤😋,great choice😏😉 Grettings from Argentina, see you tomorrow👋🏻🇦🇷
I'm almost certain that at least one of the artists went on to join Vanillaware, i see a ton of resemblances between the sprites in Martial Masters and the sprites in Odin Sphere, Muramasa and Dragon's Crown.
The art Style gameplay of this game always reminded me of Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike and Tiger is basically the Dudley look alike but I must admit that it is a good game.
Apparently it recently got ported to the Switch as part of a collection of IGS games called "IGS Classic Arcade Collection". I just found this out right now after checking this game's Wikipedia page

Mind blowing to think this title sounds like eminem's real name, Marshall Mathers 😂
it should have been more popular and during the late 90s to around 2005 era was the end of the bronze era of arcade fighting games
IGS games in general are hella underrated

The spritework in this game is something else. the FPS on drunken master's idle animation is especially praiseworthy.
That red snake name is pretty dirty lol but she animates well to justify it.
Would love to see a mugen game mixing this with street fighter 3 and Garou
Him and Crane are tied for best animation, IMO
I notice that too! That drunken animation looked amazing!
DUDE it's so fucking good it's jarring. drunk master's is so good I thought it was fake
You can tell they had SF3 as their artistic direction but with a fraction of the budget, but the artists were so incredibly stellar they not only fulfilled their task but created something memorable and excellent of their own.
Them low kicks. 🤤
Played this in 2001 in louisana. Couldt not find anything on this game online until hardcore gaming 101 covered it.
This game looks incredibly well produced. That drunken master character is wobbling with insane detail Alone.
Nah just looks like a sf2/3 copy.
@@123TauruZ321 its not in any way reminiscent unless you mean both are fighting games lol. Thats like saying SF 1,2,3 are copies of Yi-Ar kung fu....
@@rpscorp9457 The graphics style is similar. How can you not see that?

@@123TauruZ321Ah yes. The ‘this game is more popular so everything else must be a copy of it’ logic.
Aside from the "assets", the animations in this game put even some modern 3D fighters to shame.
the engine is trying its best
You are always playing some Dope fighting games 😱😱😱 Even the one's I have never heard of before 👍🏿
Very well animated.
"Ture Lotus Master." XD
Damn that bloke who uninstalled the MS-Word Auto-Correct!

Wong Kei-ying. ?? From iron mokey. Wong Fei-Hung was the son.
While not having the iconic gameplay of Capcom's Strret Fighter 3:Third Strike, the sprites of this title puts that game to shame.

This is a Taiwanese game
Made by Knights of Valour's company IGS
Geez was made by ex Capcom guys cause wow. the animations are so smooth. I've never heard of IGS game dev before.
I remember playing this in casino arcade in googde street, used monk, very good game had lots of fun playing it back then. 🔥🔥🔥
Sadly this went unnoticed in favor of Capcom's 2D fighters. This looks good for the era it was released.

These animations are gorgeous!
I wish I knew about this game, its my favorite kind of arcade game. she did a 56 hit combo! and the sprite detail is amazing

That fighter game is a masterpiece with all letters
Red-Snake..i love you,babe🥵🥰😍😘🤤😋,great choice😏😉
Grettings from Argentina,see you tomorrow👋🏻🇦🇷
She has a very fun design.
I loved 2D sprite animations man.....so nostalgic.
This game deserves a reboot or at least a backwards compatibility to all systems
She's awesome
I wonder if this is where they got the inspiration for Chun Li's current crouching pose.
むっちゃヌルヌル動くな。こんな良さげなゲームあったんだな。
Drunk Master's sprite is *significantly* better animated than all the others. I wonder why that is?
I absolutely adore how Monkey Boy actually runs and moves like a monkey and its not just the kung fu style.
This game even had OTGs thats amazing with multiple supers
NGL, IGS had some dope fighting games.
She should challenge Chun Li
Talk about a hidden gem! I remember playing Last Blade also a very underated game 😊
These games are hidden gems.
Marshall Mathers loves Martial Masters..
I loved this game. Never got to play as much as i wanted, because i didnt find it in the arcades that often. I guess i need to grab... "it".😅
This looks like an alt. universe where Bengus was in charge of the art direction for SF3.
Master Huang music is the Wong Fei Hung theme. How cool is that
This is like a reskin of SF3.
You can clearly see Not Elena, Not Hugo, Not Gen & Not Gill.
Never heard of this one, I love the movements. Almost in the style of III Strike meets Dark stalkers....
I remember downloading all of this game's characters for MUGEN
Beautiful game. Never heard about it
I think the game looks gorgeous.
Red snake is just like calliope muse of epic stories from Walt Disney's Hercules
I'm almost certain that at least one of the artists went on to join Vanillaware, i see a ton of resemblances between the sprites in Martial Masters and the sprites in Odin Sphere, Muramasa and Dragon's Crown.
They really have a lot of these games in Japan, havent't they?!
ミンナノコトガダイスキ ヒカルテンシ
Is this a mame rom or did you have to buy them from steam?
The art Style gameplay of this game always reminded me of Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike and Tiger is basically the Dudley look alike but I must admit that it is a good game.
Me: can we get 3rd Strike
Mom: we have 3rd Strike at home
3rd strike at home:
Jk. this game honestly looks cool as hell
The beat em up genre is far from dead.
She reminds me of Menat from Street Fighter V
Never knew this existed. Looks like it would have had many obvious copyright issues and is probably why.
05:10 once upon a time in china theme!
Dude Monkey Boy was getting busy 😂
Wow Guile's new Street fighter 6 costume looks like this tiger guy
This looks great. I wonder how broken it was lol
2:46 ran right into that one!
Amazing video.
Who is the Rights Holder of this game? I've been seeing it for so long and wished it got an official release on Steam, GoG or whatever! It looks great
It was recently released on Switch, as part of the IGS Collection.
nice gameplay as usual, LG 👌👍👊
4:57 Lee Reka in this game
Streets fighting vibes
Again brilliant and legendary
Man who makes this game ? I never knew this game existed 😢.
Ive only seen this game once irl on a neo geo rotation game machine.
how could i skip this game with such hot char :D
What kind of arcade game displays their website domain name?
Good game however.
So much gainaxing with this character.
Ah yes, Red Snake and Crimson Viper. Two fighting game ladies with similar names, and red braided hair.
it feels like most of the characters from this are inspired from old hk movies..
Red snake is a show stealer.😂
Awesome 💯
the engine is faking transparent shadows by oscillating between frames .
the animation looks like Street Fighter Alpha
I always felt this board was underutilized. It easily rivaled the CPS3
Is it me…or do people in the background look like Giants?
😂
Red snake is pretty much there take
on chun li.
If she got into belly dancing.
LOL, Chun Li never 'moved' like that. Looks more like a redheaded Mai Shiranui.

No
You can super into a super?
Not exactly. More like a “skill” that allows you to do fast combos.
If she was real, I'd love for her to get to know my Yellow Snake ;)
Wow Reika looks like SF6’s Lily except cool.
You mean Karin from street fighter alpha and sf5
See I'm, just martial master's, "martial master's",I'm just a regular game,I don't know why all the fuss about me

@fer619z Thanks for the info. Definitely copping it.

Looks and moves a lot like Darkstalkers. Same company that made this?
Darkstalkers was Capcom my dude
This uses the 3rd strike system/engine.. interesting
3rd strike ripoff
初めて見たけど 皮はSNK中身がCAPCOMを意識してるって凄いな
You can tell that Red Snake is using Rose's figure and animation and Crane uses Karin's.
Looks good some of the designs are kinda boring and the art style is okay
Clearly an attempt to compete with SF3 👍
