treehouses are usually very underrated because they show potential beta footage of games alongside of showing off games for the first time
I know, it’s really interesting to see this lives sometimes

Yeah. They were always the best parts of E3 because it showed games more in depth than a trailer. Seeing people play them naturally helps bring them out in a better l ight.
I wish they make a demo of this, the demo would be so much fun.

I loved the New Super Mario bros Series, but after a while it got too bland. You can even see it in the Mario Maker games. They reused the same thing many times. But now, new enemies, new gameplay elements, new features like badges, and more characters. The creativity is off the walls! If this is what's coming out now, I *wonder* what we will see for 2D Mario in the future. SO HYPED FOR THIS GAME.@@spaceboy3672

What's great about the wonder sections is there's a near guarantee that there will be at least something surprising each level, something to always look forward to.

it's such an amazing concept. it brings a design aspect that I think was missing from mario games in the past: each individual level being totally distinct from one another. it's such an ambitious thing to tackle but it leads to unrivaled levels of variety, and shows how talented the developers are. it's the main reason why tropical freeze is my favourite 2D platformer of all time.
I missed Treehouse so much! Reminds me of the good ol days of E3

This looks like the breath of fresh air 2D mario games have needed for a long time and I’m hyped!
I really like that the game seems to encourage players to explore and look for items rather than just gun it to the flagpole like the NSMB games did with their timers and whatnot.

and the fact that you can't pick up and throw each other or bump into eachother it damaged the co-op aspect

@@lifinale But that's the point. I prefer to have more versatility, difficulty and accountability. It's kinda similar to Team Attack Off in Smash. One of my fondest moments in Super Mario Bros were because, of these features.

Odyssey and Sunshine are the only games that have realism.
Two levels in and we already have a giant enemy jumpscare sequence. That's how you *know* this game is gonna be good.
That crusher is gonna traumatize a whole new generation of Mario players and I LOVE IT.
That level may not be the second one, you can see a beachside reminiscent of the Petal Isles at the end.

I love how no matter where you pause the video of the gameplay, no matter what part of what animation they're in the middle of, all the characters just pop and are full of life

Can't wait. This game brings back the feeling I had as a little kid with the original Mario games and World. So glad Nintendo hasn't abandoned 2D Mario and have really freshened it up just like Metroid Dread.
I just love how this game already feels revolutionary for the franchise, like showing the path for next installments to follow. Just like Super Mario Bros 3 was a full revamp for the series back when all we knew was 1985's Super Mario Bros, this game came to show us the brand new face of Mario for the 2D games. A change of formula was highly needed. And we finally have it.
16:55: Superstars are found during the Wonder Flower effect, falling from the sky or floating somewhere in the level.
17:38-17:46: Remember how we end a level in Super Mario World with Mario riding on Yoshi? We finally have the full animation sequence back with these two posing and exiting the stage together.
21:46: Secret Exits are in the game and are somehow associated with the Wonder Flower.

I think I'm going to enjoy this game a lot more with the level timer gone
I think I've died from level timer three times.
@@jr.c.4250 level timers are just boring imo. I get timed events, but timing an entire level just makes it feel like a chore because it punishes the player for wanting to take their time exploring.
"Yoshi's been doing lunges and squats" is such a powerful phrase out of context
The customizability will make this game so replayable. The characters, badges, powerups will make for infinite combos so you can play something like fast Luigi with the mining power up or elephant peach with a super high jump. The possibilities are endless

I like the Wonder concept, it adds something new and exciting to the 2D Super Mario games which honestly started to look a little too similar lately. Hopefully Super Mario Wonder is as good as it looks.
Not having a timer for levels was the icing on top AND we can just hangout with random players and emote kinda. Wonderful.

I love the talking flower, it's such a fun addition to levels!
I also like that it seems like there's no time limit on levels, perfect for newer players and visuals as beautiful as this game

Personally find the flowers annoying and detract from the more abstract aspects of old Mario games that made the experience more surreal. The text on the screen is also a bit redundant. It’s cool that you dig it though, I actually wish I did like it!

As it’s been 10 years since the last 2D Mario game (excluding remakes), they’ve had a lot of time to put lots of thought and effort into this. I’m hype! I’m also already looking forward to potential DLC!

@@bland9876 That’s what I meant. SMBU was released in 2013, but was later re-released on the Switch. The Switch release doesn’t count.

I don't think that counts as a remake because the graphics are the same and everything. Yes it comes with the Luigi DLC but that was already bundled in with certain copies of the game on the Wii U so.

If Wonder actually becomes the new best Mario game in years, it will possibly feel like a new breath of fresh air for more Mario games related to it.
Wonder Flower and Opium Poppy aren’t too far apart
One thing I noticed is when a player touches an item/ gets hit, it doesn’t pause the gameplay of others

That was an outstanding presentation -- everyone genuinely just having fun. This looks like it may turn out to be one of the best 2D Mario games ever made. Everything about it is just oozing with character and charm -- so excited! We really did end up on the most blessed timeline for games this year. So grateful!

I love that pretty much all of the animations have been completely redone. From coming out of a pipe, to collecting a power-up, to enemies reacting to you. Developers were not given a deadline, and it gave us QUALITY.
I think this is the first 2D Mario game with pipes that don't lead anywhere. And unlike Super Mario 3D World the pipes aren't clear.

@@biondigiacomo7176 yeah I really don't know how to describe what I'm talking about but if you know this at one point he goes into a pipe and then the pipe just leads like to the right a tiny bit. The screen doesn't go black or anything. You are still in the same stage.
In Mario Maker 2 in the 3d world maker you can place down clear pipes to do this but not green ones.
@@bland9876 well there Is Super Mario Land 2, you can se how the Pipe Is short, but i don't know of the stage actually reloads or anything like that
@@biondigiacomo7176 oh yeah I forgot about that. There's just something about the way it works in 3D World that feels different and this feels similar to that.
I could be wrong but I also want to say in Mario 3 there's some sections where when you go into a pipe you don't go out of that area but you do go into water.

I haven't been as excited for Nintendo lately, but one thing I always love is their promoting. I like how they treat each game release and take the time to hype it up. Makes each release feel special. Miss these Treehouse videos.
