I love how there are memes about how games like Mario Party ruin friendships while these four are having an absolute blast and not focusing a lot on competition.
Here's my take on how this game looks: First off, having Superstars be a separate game from Super makes sense. There are enough internal mechanics to make it distinct and more in line with the previous games (coin cost, dice, versus/duel games, pacing, and chance time). Plus, this game doesn't rely on Joy-Con motion controls. The motion controls in Super felt reliable, but it alienated players who didn't have Joy-Cons or players who own Switch Lites. The main reason I think people are confused why this isn't DLC is because the characters and UI look similar to Super, even though that's how it's been for most same-console Mario Parties excluding from MP8 to MP9. The N64 era and the GCN era all used similar if not identical models for their respective games while changing up the UI just enough to give the games their own identity. The UI in Superstars changes up Super's UI through different color schemes and placements and adds different UI for maps, the number of turns left, and board menus. I do think there should've been at least one more board. They could've done two from each N64 game, but I get the feeling they'll just do one from MP1 and two from MP2 and 3 each. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there's a secret sixth board like they did with MP2, but I'm not relying on it. I wouldn't ask for more than six boards though; that's been the average number of boards for Mario Party games. And it's not like they can just take the boards from the old games and plop them into this one. While they have the reference of the board to work on, they're still reworking them from the ground up (at least with the board models). My biggest worry is that they put too much effort in side modes, similar to what they did with Super. Those extras were fun but short lived compared to the main mode, which needed more focus and polish. I'm still unsure about this game's handle on coin economy, bonus stars, and reliance on tutorials. This Treehouse presentation made me feel better about Superstars, as it looks to be a direct improvement over Super. Still, I don't know the full details to feel completely sure about my opinion. TL;DR, I think Mario Party Superstars warrants being it's own game, but I'm still cautious about it's execution.
I feel pretty much exactly the same. This game looks like an improvement on SMP in most every way. Though I did like the unique character dice blocks in SMP, I'm fine with those being replaced with the original 1-10 dice in Superstars. Being able to play Party mode online with randoms is the biggest plus for me, so that alone is enough for me to be excited for Superstars.
I'm scared of it being one board from 1 and 2 from each of the others. I don't know why 1 doesn't get enough love, it's always been the favourite in my house. I know it doesn't have items and the 1 vs 3 games aren't well balanced (but that goes for most Mario Party games), but the game has so many boards and so many ways to customise the game that aren't even available in 2 or 3. Plus the games are amazing. We all love Wario's Battle Canyon in my family.
Yeh, the Lucky Spaces are really giving out lots of coins, and those spaces are very scattered all over the boards, so everyone will land of them relatively frequently (as shown in the Treehouse), and the prices at the shop range from 3-25, only the stronger items being worth a decent lot, while most seem to be less than 10, so many items are still cheap as heck, which is a bit concerning that the abundance of money will let everyone buy about whatever they want without much remorse, even if the prices increased for the Star and Star steals, but maybe they also greatly increased the penalties for landing on a Bowser Space or meeting Bowser 🤔, and they’ve added a few more means to steal coins off other players, BUT the Lucky Spaces can also give items instead, one being the Custom Dice, that just makes the Lucky Spaces all the more concerning because that very item will make landing on Koopa Banks (and other Lucky Spaces for the matter) be soooooo damn easy, I wonder how it’s gonna turn out
At first I thought this didn’t capture the feeling and style of the older games. It seemed a bit lifeless, like Super Mario Party. I’ve changed my mind. This is one of the most faithful remakes I’ve seen.
Is no one seriously going to mention that dice block rolling sound effect is the exact sound used in the N64 Mario Party games? Or the fact that the characters hold the map of the board when you select the board option? Or even the final results are decided by the boards themselves?! (For example like we see here the Whomp crooks chasing after the 4th to 2nd players) I can tell that this game is going to be LOADED with little details!
I really like how they stayed true to the cartoony art style with the boards and mini games. I was kinda worried that some of these mini games would lose their charm but they’ve stayed true to the originals and they’ve really nailed the details too.
Also I forgot to mention this. I believe that there's a change of score when the board has about 5 or less turns. And that the item minigame music is a remixed version of the theme from Mario Party 3!
Literally the only reason I haven’t tried the first Mario Party for the switch is cause I hate the fact you could only play with one joycon because they are way too small. I always play with a pro controller and I’m glad I can play this game with it!
@@DrRobotnikPingas Except they are much better and cooler items. Gold mushroom and mushroom suck for me. I don't like them. Considering that I grew up with Mario Party DS.

@SuperStar64 25 coins for the golden pipe+20 coins for the star= 45 coins for the star total. Very pricey for a free star, almost as much as stealing a star.
nintendo really needs to take more advantage of this nostalgia train, id love to see dlc of more old boards in either this one or super mario party, the sky guy express from 8 is one of my favorites
I would imagine they did that so it would match better with the boards from 1 and 3. Would be kind of weird to have the Superstar face off against Bowser at the end in only two of the five boards.
Yah, there should have been like 2 or more preferably 3 boards from each game, but to be fair, most Mario Party games have about 6 boards. But maybe there’s some secret boards
@Neon Rush yeah hopefully, though I hate the trend of selling an unfinished game then updating it later. I mean, for hell’s sake they already have the board designs

I REALLY hope Nintendo gives this some updates and dlc in the future and this doesn’t end up like Super Mario Party. If they can give Mario: Tennis Aces and now Mario Golf: Super Rush new stages and new characters, they can do the same for this game!
@WWE Superstars this is a whole new game. Super Mario Party is going to be completely dead by the time this comes out lol. In my opinion, they could’ve made this dlc for Super Mario Party but Nintendo knows that can get a lot more money and sell millions of copies by making it a new game altogether.
Yeah that's part of the reason I deleted my Super Mario Party. My joy cons stopped working so the game was basically useless. At least they're doing a better job here.

25:27 I’m trying to get a listen to the soundtrack. This is so nostalgic right here. Mario Party 3 being my first party game and spending countless of hours with the cousins when we were kids. I cannot wait to hear the rest of so many wonderful soundtracks from the loving greatness classic Mario Party ⭐️❤️ Thank you Nintendo. Mario Party 3’s soundtrack stood out to me the most with some very catchy and unforgettable music. It really captivates the spirit of Mario and infinite fun at the same time.
I hope Nintendo gives updates on this game such as new maps or even mini games. I would even pay $20 for decent DLC. The key word here is "decent". I love you, Nintendo!
This is the Mario party game I’ve been waiting for the longest time. 20 coin stars, chance time, 1-10 dice blocks, better item balancing. The only thing I’m concerned about is the bonus stars, I hope you can customize them and choose the ones you want but unfortunately it probably won’t happen. Probably getting this day one.
@Mofter Mof oh thats been there forever, I meant like customize what and how many bonus stars you get. Like having a pool a different bonus stars and choosing which three you want, so you can work towards that goal during the game rather than a getting random bonus stars at the end of the game.
I think having the power to choose which bonus stars you want kind of defeats the purpose of surprises since one person can absolutely dominate one bonus star which pretty much guarantees a free Star which can severely alter the outcome in that persons favor. In true Mario party fashion, the bonus stars should always be random to maintain the element of surprise
@@SpicyWah Having set bonus stars (Mario party 1-6) gave you something to work towards throughout the game and create different strategies to get them, like stealing coins instead of a star to guarantee you the coin star or using items to land on happening spaces. It gave Mario Party an extra layer of depth to its mechanics, which made the games more interesting to play. The random bonus stars aren't a bad feature I do agree that someone who doesn't know the game well their at a serious disadvantage compared to someone that knows the games well and making them random will give that inexperienced person a better chance at winning. I feel that both methods work, I just prefer the set style and I just think customization options for bonus stars would be a cool feature.
@@SpicyWah yeah, usually if someone is winning the Mini-Game Star, they may also win the Coin Star, so skilled players would often have a bigger chance to win compared to the average...although it would be neat to let us choose which Bonus Stars can appear, just for good ol’ time sake or custom challenges
I really hope we get a DLC with more characters. From the looks of it we may only get 10 characters (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina, DK and Birdo).

I love how there are memes about how games like Mario Party ruin friendships while these four are having an absolute blast and not focusing a lot on competition.
Tell that to 2 vs 2 minigames and stealing stars
Here's my take on how this game looks:
First off, having Superstars be a separate game from Super makes sense.
Yeh, the Lucky Spaces are really giving out lots of coins, and those spaces are very scattered all over the boards, so everyone will land of them relatively frequently (as shown in the Treehouse), and the prices at the shop range from 3-25, only the stronger items being worth a decent lot, while most seem to be less than 10, so many items are still cheap as heck, which is a bit concerning that the abundance of money will let everyone buy about whatever they want without much remorse, even if the prices increased for the Star and Star steals, but maybe they also greatly increased the penalties for landing on a Bowser Space or meeting Bowser 🤔, and they’ve added a few more means to steal coins off other players, BUT the Lucky Spaces can also give items instead, one being the Custom Dice, that just makes the Lucky Spaces all the more concerning because that very item will make landing on Koopa Banks (and other Lucky Spaces for the matter) be soooooo damn easy, I wonder how it’s gonna turn out
You actually took the time to write all that lol?
I have super mario party but i never played it yet because i still gotta send my joycons to Nintendo
At first I thought this didn’t capture the feeling and style of the older games. It seemed a bit lifeless, like Super Mario Party. I’ve changed my mind. This is one of the most faithful remakes I’ve seen.
Not the remake we expected, but the remake we needed.
This is a delightful blast from the past. Day 1 for me. 😁
Is no one seriously going to mention that dice block rolling sound effect is the exact sound used in the N64 Mario Party games?
Or the fact that the characters hold the map of the board when you select the board option?
Or even the final results are decided by the boards themselves?! (For example like we see here the Whomp crooks chasing after the 4th to 2nd players)
I can tell that this game is going to be LOADED with little details!
I really like how they stayed true to the cartoony art style with the boards and mini games. I was kinda worried that some of these mini games would lose their charm but they’ve stayed true to the originals and they’ve really nailed the details too.
Yeah, it’s awesome.

I hope Nintendo gives updates on this game such as new maps or even mini games. I would even pay $20 for decent DLC. The key word here is "decent". I love you, Nintendo!
20 coin stars brings a tear of joy to my eye
@@SpicyWah thats why there could also be the option to choose random. Options are a good thing.
