On the curios crafting point, the weapon system was really good.
It's the RNG on armor pieces that sucked hard. If they applied the same system to armor pieces, it would have been the best mh endgame imo.

As someone that started in World, Rise felt like a true sequel. So many QoL improvements (mining speed up, training room etc) , better systems (mentioned in the video). Better movement options, attack variety, faster gameplay. Wirebug > slinger, clutchclaw.
Only thing lacking was the amazing immersive, detailed and gorgeous environment World created.

But with the mining speed up, you kinda lose the enthusiastic way your hunter gather some materials with bones and mines. There are even a few different animations depend on how rare the material you're getting. You don't even get shiny animation whenever your hunter carve some gems/mantles from monster.

one big thing Rise Sunbreak has over World Iceborne for me is the Monster roster there's so many great new additions and old throwbacks and thanks to the endgame system you can fight most monster's with more challenge and attack changes

Hey, took the words right out of my mouth! This matches my sentiment exactly. I'd like to add that Rise has a bigger variety of monster skeletons too, like fanged beasts, leviathans and carapaceons. I really hope that those monster types return in Wilds as the switch skills. Just.... I hope the Hunting Horn changes stay in Rise, personally. It felt too simplified to me.

What if charms/talismans were still craftable, but they have branching upgrades that either allow a stronger form of the same charm, or decoration slots. Decos should be craftable, but I think having them as a bonus quest reward would be cool too. It would allow for more leniency

If they bring back guiding lands and sieges in some form and they take notes from rises combat while having environments like world ill be very happy. one thing that makes rise way better than world IMO is that in world the game makes everything in its power to not let you play the game, the amount of monsters with enviromental damage is insane (teostra, lunastra, uragaan, both brachydios, glavenus etc) so you cant even position yourself freely, mosnter IA is just stupid, when you are in an area and another monster comes they either turf war or team up against you, but not before making you flinch with an endless exchange of roars, wind pressure and tremmors, and when you finally can move your character and dung pod the invading monster, the monster you are fighting decides he no longer wants to fight right there so he goes right to where the other monster went... just ridiculous, the amount of time you spend staggered or stunned in a fight compared to rise is absurd (also palamutes are a huge QOL improvement)

Switch skills are good but it could be irrelevant when one option outshines others. Like for your example with Greatsword, everybody will just run Strongarm Stance counter since it gives the highest damage possible, and since Rage Slash and Surge Slash combo doesn't do really well with Strongarm Stance, they're barely used in Sunbreak.

If I had to say Rise was better at anything it’s this: adding variation to combat via the silkbind attacks like GU’s Hunter arts, eventually allowing you to take NPCs with you as an option, and finally actually doing giant monster battles the right way (World got lazier and lazier with artificial “you die anyway” difficulty ala Alatreon and Behemoth). World however did everything else right from the natural disasters, to armor variety, turf wars, decorating your quarters and having your character appear in most cutscenes and so doing giving you extra reason to try out sets and play around with the gallery. The glowing birds made eating redundant and hunting tedious in Rise.

The new player experience of Rise is much better than World.
For new comer to the series, there are village quest, which teaches you most of the core mechanic of MH, and slowly ramp up in difficulty. Veteran hunters can dive right in with hub quests, which gets you to the endgame much faster.
Meanwhile in World, you are stuck doing a movement tutorial for 30mins, then when you finally got your weapon, the only "tutorial" you get is a short video explaining the weapon concept and what the NPCs yell at you in the corner of your screen while you are being overwhelm by everything being thrown at you at once. It doesn't help that the first map is also the most complex one by far, with multiple layers, all the different twisted routes, all kinds of props and wild life.

5th had a lot of rampant cheating from what I've seen firsthand
charms and decorations were those, but then there's been people going "well i killed safi jiva once I deserve 999 zionium crystals"
negatives of iceborne, someone went a little to bonkers with masters touch, then they nerfed the players in iceborne with the wex nerf (because of masters touch).
the claw, if i ever feel like i should get off a weapon because it's claw was garbo (pre fatalis patch*) that's not okay.
cons of world, coral highlands, very limited spin move area with hammer.
pros of iceborne, despite the fight being at mr24 (tbh they deserve the review bomb just for that, should've been mr100) Alatreon *fire* is the tightest mainline team fight in the series.
additional pros, i got to spin move with my hammer
i got to laugh my ass off at someone getting diffed by Barioth and when i fought a real old world barioth went "these two really aren't the same".
    i forgot the rest it's 1 am 👍

Personally, I enjoy Rise far more than I do World or any other game in the franchise for that matter. They are all great in their own right, and I still play them all on occasion.
I enjoy the fast paced combat and gameplay in Rise. I play Monster Hunter to HUNT MONSTERS. The combat is the most engaging aspect of the game for me, and I don't think it's a bad thing that they chose to focus so much on it in this game. I think it's fantastic, especially taking into account that Rise was conceptualized and intended as a Switch game. I enjoy the mobility of the Wirebugs and utility of Silkbind Attacks. The Switch Skill system added a lot of variety to the game, and each weapon has at least two unique ways to play it.
They added a lot of new Armor Skills with unique and interesting mechanics, and they are all viable. There is a lot of build variety and diversity in this game, that you will not see in any other entry. I can't even tell you how much time I've put into researching skill values and mechanics, theorycrafting and putting builds together just sitting in the Equipment Box menus. They might not all be "meta", but they are FUN and I don't have to make large sacrifices or compromises to use them. It's not just all Fatalis for every weapon and armor.
I like the graphics in Rise and the art style they went for, and for a Switch game I would even say it is a technological MARVEL what they managed to do with RE Engine. Obviously World has higher graphical fidelity, I'm not disputing that. But World was released on PS4 and Xbox One. I play Rise and World on PS4, and let me tell you... Rise plays smoothly and everything looks great in motion. It does not maintain 60fps at all times, but it very rarely dips below 30. Even on Switch it maintains a very stable 30fps and plays smoother than most games at that framerate. World on the other hand? On my PS4, it runs like absolute DOG SHIT, and can barely maintain 30fps. I don't care how good a game's graphics are, the way World runs on my PS4, I would call it nearly unplayable and definitely unacceptable for the target hardware.
However, as much as I love Rise, there are things I would not like to see in future titles. I don't want Wirebugs to return, at least not for a while. And if they do, it should be in a Rise sequel perhaps revisiting Kamura or a nearby/allied village. I do not want to see as many counter based abilities in the next entry, or at least not any new or additional ones. I don't want to see Wyvern Riding return, not in the way it is currently implemented in Rise. It needs to be rebalanced and toned down a bit at the very least. I wouldn't mind if combat and hunting in general slows down slightly in the next game. I liked the tracking system in World and would like to see something similar. I think seeing monster locations on the map immediately is too "gamey" and definitely contradicts the essence of the Monster Hunter series.
They are both great games and any "true" Monster Hunter fan will enjoy them both. It's okay to have preferences, to like or dislike certain things, or to criticize. But I don't believe anyone who is legitimately shitting on Rise is doing so in good faith. It IS mostly if not strictly Rise that people shit on, and it's mostly coming from diehard World fans, whose first entry into the series was World and who probably haven't even played any of the other games. Don't get it twisted, you're not going to come in here and start telling a 20 year old fandom what their game is or isn't or should and shouldn't be, you're not even part of the conversation and you can fuck right off with that in my opinion.

I agree about hammer and hunting horn but otherwise I don't really get what you're talking about. I've played at least a little bit of every weapon, and they all still feel pretty distinct to me. If it's mobility, Rise is just focused more on mobility in general, and you need it to keep up with the more aggressive monsters. If it's more weapons with blunt attacks, they usually have tradeoffs like the s&s giving up some of its multi-hit attacks.
Wirebugs are also just a clever way to add a tactical resource to the game, and it's just super fun to zip across the map with them. I will say it's annoying to have to pick them up sometimes.

@@spuriousgeorge7233 wirebug mentality comes in contradiction with the source of MH, placement. this only point just make me unable to appreciate Rise. I did all the game + sunbreak to be sure and yeah it's just not fun to be able to erase any mistake by 2x wire jump to full heal or get punished and wirejump while u clearly disrespected monster attack. a simple hour of playing like idk mh4u and before and u will get what I'm saying. world was a good tradeoff between old mh and opening to more people. but rise, nah, it's over the top and I'm not the public. however I hope it won't impact Wilds as I hope to play a more MHW like than MHR like game

@@gwynbleidd8723 You've been playing long enough so you should already be familiar with the main team and portable team's approach in their games. That's like complaining why all weapons in GU can do high risk plays because of Adept and Valor styles, but you can't do the same in 4U.
