"I love shirts, I'm wearing one right now", I'm still laughing XD
just worth noting that it looks like it was on "A+B" the entire video. my understanding is there are two reverb chips (A and B) and that little toggle switch on the right hand side of the pedal allows you to dial in two distinct reverbs, or blend them
The thing that takes the Ventris beyond the ‘excellent’, and into the ‘truly amazing’ is it’s ability to combine any TWO of it’s reverb engines, EACH set to your favorite flavors. Ventris is FAR more than just a Fender drip emulator.
Ryan, keep making that sweet, suite content.
Its great how you make that sound with the whammy bar it sounds amazing.
I've been waiting for this vid to drip into my feed since the splash it made at NAMM.
milk bath ha
The video we’ve all been waiting for! It’s definitely the best outboard spring reverb in a pedal that I’ve heard, it beats the topanga and frv-1 imo. I hear a little bit of modulation on the drip which I’m not sure about. I wonder if you could program that out or change the modulation. If you could add tremolo to the trails of the outboard sound, you would have surf rock in a box basically. I look forward to what you do with this Ryan.
Thanks! Is there anything that this pedal doesnt have in TRUE SRPING that the individual "TRUE SPRING" pedal does? Im planning to get either of specially for the spring drip (using Oceans11 so far). All the other modes are welcomed, but priority is the Spring drippin`. Sinde the individual TRUE SPRING pedal is newer, maybe thay added valuable feautures, but maybe this pedal does cover everything plus everything else.
thanks !
No tremolo
Ryan, have you ever messed around with a Strymon Blue or Big Sky?? I was wondering how this stacks up to that if so. Thanks!!
Dude I love you channel. Keep it up guy. That pedal seems like a ton of fun. What amp you using?
an Ibanez TSA15h and a princeton reverb.
I had a Nemesis for a while and it was finnicky about power (worked for a few minutes but started having a lot of clock noise). Had to do some wizardry with the dip switches on my Voodoo power supply to get it working right.
Mike Cerame I have the same clock noise and the power supply it came with isn't for my country😪
Kevin Nel Source Audio has incredible customer support. I'd reach out to them and see if they have any solutions.
man oh man that's the ticket right there! got g.a.s. from this review! good job with the video, what is retail on this box?
I love that drip. I specifically started playing guitar for surf music. I just wish that pedal was cheaper. But I guess you can do a bunch of weird corky things with it. But for the price I could buy a new jazzmaster or Jaguar. Or a used jazzmaster and a surf green bullet mustang.
Noice I was so looking forward to you reviewing this. Too bad that I play bass not guitar
You guys have got nothing to complain about. In Australia they sell for A$649!!!
Update: They have now gone up to $749!
@@TheMyndsurfer 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I'd love to see this in use with a mild fuzz, just curious how it can handle some higher gain stuff.
Jordan Mayer I’ll bring all sorts of tests with it. ;-)
Are you using this on your main board? I just picked one up for $300. I like it
Dang! Is that the new Reversed Modern Flying V? ;)
you should check out the subdecay spring theory! best spring verb pedal in my opinion.
jeremy ledingham I had one for awhile, nice trail but not really drippy
Nice reverb unit. What amp are you using?
fender princeton and an ibanez TSA15h
No modulate mode reverb+chorus?
Thiago Gomes I’m sure the E-Dome is a modulated reverb engine but I’d guess there are a lot more, especially with the Desktop Editor.
Wait, you created drippy reverb by mixing room and reverse reverb?
rad review! you can cut things so the direction of the cut at like some variation of 90 degrees to the direction youre facing and its still away from your body. also its more about force applied to the cut being less than what will reach any part of your body like u can cut towards yourself using ur thumb to apply the force because you will never slip father than what your thumb can travel for example
You should be excited , just for the price of the thing !
I'm very grateful that Source Audio looked at the rest of my reverb content and thought It would be a smart Idea to send me one. I'm going to be making a lot of video about this thing. i have so many reverbs to compare it to.
I was so excited about it until I saw the price,it could be the best reverb in the world but it costs more than a Katana 100 amp,so I can't justify one.
Its definitely for a niche market at that price. For surf guitarists if it can do a reasonably good outboard reverb drip its worth it when you consider a RI unit is $400+ and will be fairly delicate to travel with, and vintage units are $$$$ and get kept in studios. I was talking to another surf guitarist about it and we agreed that we would easily pay $250 for a stand alone pedal that only did the drip sound. consider all the other features the Ventris has packed into it and it starts to make more sense.
Surf drip is what I want it for but I refuse to pay more than $150.for any pedal,so I'll stick to my FRV 1 that I bought before all the price gouging started. Great demo though keep up the good work you lucky dog ! ;-)
tc is coming out with a drip reverb pedal soon, but it sounds like it more of a predelay sort of thing with a surfy voice to it. still cool that drippy reverb needs are starting to be addressed.
The question is Fender tre verb Spring reverb or Ventris what do u prefer for more authentic spring sound ?,
Tre-verb just didnt sound good, did you get one or something else?
@@shckltnebay I have got the majestic Furman RV-1, u won't believe how hugh jt sounds.
@@ItaiIfrach Cheapest one is $350 plus tax ship
@@shckltnebay Yes, I got the luck to find one at 200usd. The option of input limiting and specific eq of each frequency really got me. I will upload some demos soon on my channel
@@ItaiIfrach Ive got a Ventris on the way
So do we all agree this is the best drippy verb pedal right now? It's spend cash on this unit or the Surfybear at $450.
Its the best ive personally experienced and it hasn't left my board, EHX just announced a new reverb that has a drip to it, but i havent had a chance to try it yet.
Mine will be here tomorrow! I started playing electric to learn surf - that was years ago. While I have had onboard verb and pedals I have never had what I consider a real surf reverb sound. Just days ago I was about to drop $$ on a SurfyBear or reissue tank, then I found all your videos. To my ears, the Ventrix gives me an even bigger palate for some classic to crazy surf tones. I'm stoked and thanks to AMS for a little off that steep price! Keep up the great videos!
the only thing this pedal needs is a knob to kill the dry signal... more knob kills more signal to only get the wet signal... that would be dope. my. gall of fame 2 has a option for that but u need to hit one of the switches underneath the pedal
It does, it's got a mix knob (top right). Mix fully clockwise = completely wet
What’s that guitar? I want one!
I think it's a Hallmark Swept Wing.
I think you're right. www.hallmarkguitars.com/guitars/swept-vintage.shtml They are so retro, the site uses Flash!
Hang on, I found a better link - ua-cam.com/video/1K-G5H_uiVc/v-deo.html
Nick B lol! That’s an old one.
I went digging... !
How bout a dedicated drip verb? Not a Strymon-style laptop computer.
scott3402 it takes a computer to make the drip sound possible, once you are done building a computer to make one sound it’s still going to cost a lot so might as well throw any other features you can at it.
point taken but, I always prefer “set it and forget it.” I’m trying to get better at playing guitar, not playing with pedals. I really appreciate your videos and I’m a huge “drip” fan. Please, beg the manufacturer to make a dedicated drip pedal and I’ll overpay for it.
Cut to the side dude!
Try putting the box down when you use a sharp tool like someone with some sense would do. LOL Great demo bud!!!
A treMOLO? =)
Judd Austin that’s how it’s spelled
but is that how its pronounced? =) "treməˌlō/" just giving you a hard time
;-) i know, its a common comment on my videos.
so its a feature! lol got it
🌴🏖️🏄🎸😎🤙♥️
If you cut away from your self while looking in the mirror you’ll get total control AND satisfaction..
Guys, STOP doing reverb demos in mono, I own the thing and your sound is not even close to what it really does, I’m just triggered because I think you’re not making any justice to Ventris for the pedal!
holy crap, that offspring verb... what am I even listening to--sounds like digital windchimes
i think its beautiful. id buy a pedal that does just that one thing. It sounds like breaking glass, in a beautiful way.
I'm liking many of the settings-- so much more interesting than normal reverb
