Recently bought the ventris and was worried about “drip” since no videos covered it. Thank you for getting me psyched for this thing! Love your content.
Ventris just killed them all, IMO... Now if they only made it in a smaller enclosure with the drip reverb only...
Thing is, the power that makes the drip so convincing is what makes up the cost. With all that processing power you just may as well have it do all this stuff.
Hm, you're probably right!
They just put it out, as per your wish! Called True Spring
@@robbinhenleyjr I bought the ventris solely for the spring engine because it is unquestionably the best at doing it. But damn I wish I would have known they were gonna release a standalone version. I woulda have just waited. That said, the ventris does do a ton of things really well. I think it's far better than strymons reverbs. Less digital sounding too
The SGFX Surf Rider III is a serious contender as well. Definitely worth giving a shot if you’re after a quality drip unit.
This thing unquestionably nails the outboard tank, & crazy versatility with the other settings. I need to play around with mine a bit more, though. I have not yet been able to get a really solid outboard / tremolo combination where the tremolo can be kicked in at a really prominent level, a la Rumble.
The Mr Black Deluxe-Deluxe Plus stayed on my board this week as a result. I think that one is a fantastic pedal emulation, right up there with the Boss, not as shrill, and includes a fantastic trem built in. Have you tested that one out?
I just need to spend a little more time with the Ventris on that specific combination!
Love all these; but I would have to agree that ventris sounds the best. Plus, you have way more tweakability.
Mmmh i heared that before somewhere....
Great take! Will you be doing a comparison video vs. the Surfy Bear or a tube outboard unit?
yup!
Ryan, your vibrato is godlike. Very envious.
Thanks Ryan. Totally sold now. A Surfy Bear would be cool - and I'll still probably get one one day. But the sound quality, versatility, robustness, and small size of this guy makes it totally worth $250 for me.
The Ventris is the best. It sounds really with hardware synths too.
This is a good review, however.... I'm not a fan of reverb "drip". I don't like the splat sound. I guess that's the same complaint I have with acoustic, under-bridge piezo pickups. Out of all of these (as demonstrated) I like the Topanga best since it has less drip.
If you don't like drip, this isn't a good video for you.
How about the Subdecay Super Spring Theory? Seems pretty good
I don't know but to me the ventris drip sound really really fake. I prefer the FRV1 much more
Could you do a video about the mods you did to this guitar? I have a Mexican Strat that I'm in the process of modding and I'd love to know your specifcs (the bridge in particular)!
Ventris sounds awesome. Did TC Electronics send you their Drip reverb yet? I’m super curious about that one but can’t find squat about it.
not yet, Looking forward to trying it out though.
Which ventris settings did you use?
Ryan, have you tried a Slapback Delay with the Topanga to get a whip/drip like effect?
Yeah! Thx for this. Just bought a Victoria 5112 which doesn't have reverb. Might have to sell my frv-1, hmmmm.
How does the holy grail stack up to these. Man they're expensive.
they holy grail does't drip, thought it makes some other great reverb sounds.
Hmm. I used Ventris some days ago but I dint find unit-like drips like in this video. There were a bit of drips - like in Eventide H9, may be. Totally nothing special. This is very strange.
you have to update to the new version to have access to the outboard spring setting.
Thank you. Should I do it with Neuro software?
@@60CycleHumcast thanks all the gods!!! Finally someone said what to do! Because I didn’t know about it. Thank you very much!
Do you keep a ranking somewhere of all of your spring reverbs?
no, but i probably should
DRIP! In a size smaller than carry on luggage no less.
Frv1 for the win. It gets the classic surf rock sound. 🏄♀️ in my opinión the ventris is a bit too artificial drip not as organic as the frv1
The Ventris is stupidly expensive though ..shit just buy the tank for that price !!
A tank for $250? Where?
thecaveofthedead a ventris for 250? More like 399
If you just want spring maybe...first get it on sale, second, look up what else this thing can do. There's nothing stupid about the price.
$399
boss sounded the best to me
the ventris was too much of this drip thing
You can never have too much drip! LOL (and BTW, the pedal has quite a few reverb types, not only the drippy one).
i had the drip dialed in pretty high too, because thats the feature i'm showing off. in a playing scenario id pull it back a little bit.
More drip=More surf. 😏
The drip can be dialed out
