9:46 FYI as of July '23 Changes - "Units must be set up and finish every move as a single coherent group. A unit with 2 to 6 models is coherent if each model in the unit is within 1" horizontally and 6" vertically of at least 1 other model in the unit. A unit with more than 6 models is coherent if each model in the unit is within 1" horizontally and 6" vertically of at least 2 other models in the unit. If a friendly unit is not coherent at the end of a turn or after you set it up, you must remove models in the unit from play, one at a time, until it is coherent."
as a 40k player, i was really worried about trying age of sigmar but after looking over everything, its really close to warhammer 40k and im super excited to try out a soulblight gravelords army. thank you for the really in depth video!
Appreciate the content, hard to find a video that strikes this balance of short enough to approach and share to newbies but also comprehensive enough to give a solid grasp of the system.
Absolutely! We are always trying to come up with content that is right in the middle. Glad you found it useful!
2:59 is wrong. According to 4.1, in the event of a tie, the person who finished deploying first (in the case of the first battle round) or who went first in the previous round has *priority*. The person with priority must then decide who will take first turn and who will take second, they are not required to take first turn that round.
This is very helpful and aided me in my start to AoS
Always glad to see that me and the boys find more information telling us we played wrong the whole time.
Trust us when we say we have done that EXACT same thing before! 😅😆
Well Gentlemen, I now need to change my pants. Great video.
🤣😆🤣
Jeans-stealer? Oh wrong universum - charch to the wardrobe
Thanks for posting this, very informative, short and to the point. Cheers!
Very useful video! Thanks!
Awesome video! Really well communicated
Thankyou this video as been really helpful for this newbie
Great summary you explained everything really well, thank you 👍
Great video lads!
Thanks guys, another great video. Being nee to the game I’ve found these really helpful 🙏🏼
There are so many rules in AoS, and it's hard to pack it all in a short amount of time! BUT we are glad you found it helpful. Thanks for the feedback!
Great Video Mate, thanks for Sharing. I Just shared it to some Friends i meet at sunday for their First aos Games 😊❤
NIIIIICCCCCCCEEEEEEEEE!!
could you makke a video on how to play skaven? They are my favorite AoS faction
So I havent played AoS since 1st ed, I havent a clue where to go back in and this video has helped a lot thank you
Awesome, best tutorial video so far and it was as if I was watching a million sub youtuber keep it up!!!❤🎉
11:12 You must choose your battle tactic "at the start of the hero phase", if there are other things you can do that are denoted as "at the start of your hero phase" (e.g. performing heroic actions) you can choose in what order you do them. So you can perform heroic actions before choosing your battle tactic.
How to teach any piece-based combative game, (checkers, chess, WH, etc) breakdown.
1) The pieces.
2) The board or playing field.
3) The set-up.
4) The objectives.
5) The legal turn-based movements, which also covers rules.
6) Basic strategy.
7) Winning the game, or its adjudication.
8) Have fun!
nice vid! where are those rocks/mountain cliffs terrain from? really like the look of em
Seems like it would be fun, but super overwhelming.
Good explanation, thanks a lot. To be honest, I already have a 7k Skaven army as a start in Aos, but only played 3 games because I paint so much....
Awesome video and the best name for a Warhammer related UA-cam channel, very appropriate 🤣🤣💸💸
Cool guide! I play a lot fb6, fb7, blood bowl season 2 (or 7 if you count all previous bb's) and tow but have few units for AoS (2.000 orruks, stormcast with lunineth allies, gloomspite and seraphon) and i really like to get into playing this. Doesnt seem to be big step up from what im used to.
You will definitely find some similarities, and with 4.0 coming out soon, it's just going to get better!
one of the best summaries for aos 3
Lovely guide! One thing I’m not sure of; if I have multiple units with the ‘Fights First’ rule, do all of those go immediately, and then after that normal combat you-go-I-go resumes?
If I have priority, and I charge with 3 units and succeed in those charges, do I (as the person with priority) get to pick the first combat? And then my opponent gets to pick the next combat, which could be against one of my charging units?
My buddy was perturbed fighting my OBR back in the day but I think he’s getting AoS/40k crossed up
Can I clarify the point made at 18.31. Combat phase, so I can fight an enemy unit within 3 inches of my unit, meaning I don’t need to have charged before going into combat?
Correct! The charge is just intended to close the gap! You can still fight an enemy within 3” without having made a charge that round!
Reminds me of Combat Patrol a lot actually.
I have the starterbox from 2015. Will it be the same rules as 3.0 or will there be changes? Maybe only minimal changes?
Any of the paper rules in the box will be out of date but all of the models you will be able to use! Just look up the updated warscroll for the units that came in the box!
16:42 - Am I wrong on this? but I thought you could ward save against Mortal Wounds :O
You are correct! You can ward save against mortal wounds. I missed a few transition words but what I was trying to say was “You can’t make regular saves against mortal wounds but there is a thing called wards that let you save against all types of damage.” Hope that helps! -Gabe
Are command abilities like stratagems from 40k? Sorry if its a dumb question but ive decided to learn aos.
Yes they are very similar!
how did you guys mak those great rock terrain pieces?
Your Wallet: "Not so fast!!"
Hello, what is the difference from unique and single on the pitched battle profiles notes?
That’s a great question! Single means you can only have one model in this unit. Unique means you cannot have more than one of this unit in your army. More often than not, unique units only have one model but sometimes they have multiple
Just looking into getting an army going, is old world a better game?
We have not dived into Old World? We hear it is pretty good. 🤷♂️
I'm a 65-year-old who came to Warhammer for the art and figures, now I want to play with my grandson. I've read on social media that Age of Sigmar the best one to start with, would you agree?
Thank you for this content! I'm amped to try to learn this!
AoS is great, however i would recommend smaller, skirmish based games, like WarCry or Kill Team. You don't need to buy and paint entire army, because you play with only one squad and individual models, and the game is still fun
@@zygard1621 Thank you Zygard! I really appreciate that! There are lots of articles when I Google, but hearing info from "real people" for want of a better term, is most appreciated!
As I read about this, going with shorter skirmish campaigns seems perfect for my situation.
I collect figures and already have a small collection started, so we are really amped up to create/play with the armies too, but, I digress, I really appreciate you taking time to respond!
My girlfriend really wants me to play this and i know nothing about ttrpgs thanks for the video!
AWESOME!! Glad you enjoyed it!
Gonna have a small AoS army to tide me over until 40k becomes popular again
I'm starting AoS and found the core rules but not the "seasons" what and where do I get that?
The seasons come from the General’s Handbooks! A new one started a little over a month back and will last for a full year!
Do you need to subscribe to them monthly to use their app still?
Nahh, just need the book codes.
What’s the app called
Really good video but i've tried so hard to get interested in AoS but can't. Even today, it just feels like a goofy 40k supplement still.
Hopefully WTOW sticks its landing next year.
I can teach these guys how to start in under 2 minutes:
Grab gasoline, burn your AoS army books, wait one turn until Old Fantasy gets re-released, keep the figurines.
It feels like Sigmar is played almost exactly like 40K, but they renamed some things and added spells.
Edit: I'm a new 40K player and haven't started Sigmar yet. Just my perspective on the rules.
Pretty much. I’ve only had 2 games of AoS in now but yea seems like some words were changed around and there are some rules that are the same but slightly tweaked
How to start with aos 3.0 in 3 words:
Start with skaven😜
Yes yes
Rob a bank!
u look like gus johnson
Really want to get into this game but my god the rules apon rules seem tedious
Pssst, play OnePageRules Age of Fantasy instead. Thank me later.
Yes the rules get a little scary. BUT, once you have the basics down, it is VERY fun.
This too! 👆😍
This sounds complicated.
measured in Inches??? in 2024....
was pretty close to actually buying some of the pretty models. Thank you for reminding me of how absolutely awful this shitshow of a game is.
Doubling Turing ruins the entire game for me
didn't know anybody actually played age of skubmar.
