You really hit the nail on the head with the statement about dads. With two kids there was no way I could play 4 hour aos games but I can play spearhead. Really enjoy the format!
Having seen a few spearhead matches online it seems good. As a father of two, a 7 year old and 3 month old, it’s the style of play I need. The 7 year old is very excited about it too. Got her the nighthaunt box and she is building and painting it eagerly.
@@GryndirThat would also depend how well it's received. If we parents all join up and play, they have a large enough player base to reconsidder deleting it 😂
Really hope all the stuff needed for Spearhead (cards, book, board) get released **asap** after Skaventide on their own. Cause I frankly can't justify buying more Stormcast I'm not going to play 😭 I really want Spearhead to be accessible and easy for everyone to get into. So the sooner they can get those resources like the cards out there at a cheaper price point is just absolutely vital to me for this to work.
Spearhead really got me hype. Got my bud hooked on Warcry and I think this will help bridge the gap between full scale sigmar and skirmish. Tho I have a feeling we'll both enjoy this more than either
Would love to hear your thoughts on which factions feel like they are looking good and which are looking rough for 4th edition. Hope you do a video on that when they release the full faction release.
Are there rules for Ironjawz in the book? I know there is no box for them right now but perhaps there is rules to build a Spearhead-force anyways? Feels odd if they are just completely ignored..
Looks like the first thing I'm going to house rule about this is: No Twist in round 1, or only those that give both players a bonus if there's no underdog. There are too many that call for a roll if there's no underdog, with only one player gaining that twist advantage (sometimes a severe advantage, like making the central objective insanely better for that player to hold). Having a single D6 roll give one side such a leg up straight away for no reason seems bad and discouraging for the person who loses the roll.
This is true, but that means in round 2, the other player will almost certainly be the underdog and get the advantage right back. Will be interesting to see how it plays out both ways, but I'd say at least give it a try first.
Really good. I've only had a practice game of SH and really enjoyed it. Minor criticism - the battle tactic decks are just one colour. It's a pain in the arse to sort them into the piles for each player
Thank you for the breakdowns! Do you think there will be a Spearhead standalone kinda box in the near future? I'm not really that into Stormcast or Skaven so it feels like spending 200+ on this big box with 70% of it being something I don't even want is not the greatest choice. I just want the Spearhead book & cards and then play with my preferred Vanguard/Spearhead army :(
If spearhead becomes a competitive format, it's fucked - it's aimed at new players and casuals. If GW takes it competitive, and starts doing things like metawatch, it's screwed.
Disagree. The format can be competitive without delving into "meta watch" territory. Also, saying that the format is aimed at new players and casuals is selling it a bit short. There are plenty of people like me who are very invested in the hobby but don't have the time or disposition to play 3-4 hour games. Selling the format as just for casuals and new players will certainly kill it.
@@arielsanchez465 "don't have the time or disposition to play 3-4 hour games." Literally a casual lol I'm not saying it CAN'T be competitive, what I'm saying is that if GW makes it competitive, we'll see all constant BS updates they do, and at that point, many will be out. The core game should be the competitive scene, Spearhead should be kept as a casual/intro format. Of COURSE it can be played in tournaments, the fast gameplay will result in nice, short tournaments, but if GW runs with that and starts doing balancing and other crap every other month, it'll fall over for new players and casuals a like. Casuals are the BULK of the player base, so I don't know what you're talking about..

I don’t even play AoS but man I love your lore videos.

I'm in the same situation. I think this will be great.
I'm here for the same reason. I need a small, fast, fun game. Really hoping they support spearhead for a while

"Totally unrelated", indeed 🙂 thanks for the walkthrough. Got 2 almost 3 Spearheads painted and ready to try out. Very tempted to get Skaventide to.

Agreed! I was looking forward to playing IJ at my local gamestore for a spearhead tourney and was super disappointed.

Love Spearhead! Was super hyped to see you review the Spearhead stuff ^_^
Thanks for this! Looking forward to more 4th edition stuff

Great video! I’m very excited to get into AoS with my Seraphon Spearhead 🦖
Hey, I love your videos! Thanks :)
Quick question, do Beasts of Chaos have Spearhead rules?
Im just beginning my journey, my first spearhead set is "soulblight gravelords"
How can you get battletactic deck apart from buying skaventide?
Hopefully they’ll sell them separately asap, otherwise it’s doomed.
Hey doug how big are spear head objectives?

Can't wait to start my Ironjawz sparehead army😞
This is labeled Spearhead 102 -- was there a Spearhead 101 video you made?
Gods i cant wait for this to finally drop, the wait is getting annoying now lol.
i hope Combat patrol gets this kind of treatment.
This is hype. But i need the faction info hahah
More plz :D 🎉
12:45 I see what you did there Doug
Looks fun but I prefer Warcry really. Seems ideal tro "try out AOS" Spearhead.
Is he blurring the text on purpose?
