I really appreciate the skits you guys have been doing. I know theres a lot of work involved with scripting, shooting, editing and apparently costuming. So I wanted to make sure I told you how great they were.
A Warlock Engineer is called that because the character is both a warlock and an engineer. “Warplock” is an adjective describing how something works. Think of a matchlock musket or flintlock pistol, except instead of a match or flint igniting the powder it uses a warpstone action of some sort.
Jen either has the patience of a saint or is crazy. All those rats and nmm? Kudos to you for pushing through to the end they look fantastic. Dave stellar job on your builds. That tip about the gold is something worth trying, thanks. And Murray that giant rat is sick, no seriously he looks ill, you might want a Vet to look at him. Great job one and all. @@Dmitriy_8791you can paint them however you like. This is just a paint style that doesn’t use metallic paints but there is nothing wrong with using metallics brother
Doing NMM really was crazy, but turned out SO good! Though the true metal Stormcast look amazing too! Also fun to see you and Squidmar doing the same model on the same day, and how differently you approach it.
With respect to the Easy-to-build pegs, I find it much easier to cut the hole part, rather than the pegs. If you cut the holes by putting your nippers into the hole and cutting them down and parallel to the mechanism. This prevents the pneumatic pressure that can arise, especially if you use glue.
Ah, yeah sorry it's hard to explain in words. I'll try explain again, but if you're on their discord, I'll take some pics to share there. Basically stick one of the blades of your nippers into the hole where the peg will go, and cut. Turn the O of the hole into a C. It should still be tight enough to hold the model together without glue, but will left you push the model together *tighter* because any trapped air or liquid can escape, relieving pressure when you do glue it, preventing the worst of the gaps.
When gluing push-fit models, you're better off snipping off most of if not the entire pegs. All they're really good for in this situation is as locating pins, and for that purpose you really just want the peg to barely be poking into the hole. and depending on the bit, the two parts might have enough features to mesh together well enough without needing a locating pin. It might be more finicky without pins, but if you're used to regular kits that'll probably be far less frustrating. Even assembling them without glue I find usually you need a surprising amount of pressure to have parts seated all the way together without gaps, but ofc in that situation there's no time pressure to get it all into place.
I've also had a lot of success with drilling the holes a bit larger. Sometimes I go a little large, and it will no longer go together without glue, but often it's particularly satisfying. It just glides in. Most people just don't have 2.05mm drill bits sitting around. Also, don't do yourself a disservice with regular plastic glue. Do yourself a favour and run that thin cement along the seams _after_ you've fit them together.
Really really love how the skaven came out! Looking forward to seeing some nice photos of them. The red/green combo and NMM looks so striking and stylized, reminds of something like a pulp book cover or horror comic.
Dave, I have a quick suggestion that is... honestly such a small detail I don't know if it's even worth the effort, but I thought I would put it out there anyway. To reinforce the idea of the Diablo-style empty hoods, wave you considered getting a pot of that "darkest black" paint, or whatever it's called? The one that barely reflects any light and makes things painted with it like a hole into space? I know it's expensive, but you would need so little for each hood that it could last really long. Again, it's a minuscule detail, but I just thought it would be neat.
I glue all of the push-fit minis as well - when I first started with 40K I quickly discovered that many of the push-fit pieces would fall the heck off. Glue solves that well, plus it helps hide seems as well - just a little filing over the glued seam and they look more like they are just one piece. Edit: my Sigmarines are patiently waiting for their upgrade. 13 July feels like a long way off though. Edit edit: those rats look very nice! You all did a good job. Speaking of Dominion, I still haven’t put all of the Orruks from Dominion together yet. I know, I know. I need to get it done before I pick up my Skaventide box.
