    Great review. The only thing I didn't know that was new on the v15 was the finer smaller holed shroud. The only thing I wished dyson would've done was make the shroud smaller like on the outsize. That would've done a few things - increase dirt capacity, increase the internal centrifugal spinning forces generated within the bin, reduce the amount of fine dirt coming through, decrease the amount of dirt and hair wrapped around the shroud, and more dirt would've been separated from the dirty air mix coming in the bin

    • @VacuumFacts

      I'd prefer it if they used the bin design on their final cylinder model, as mentioned in the review, given how much better it is. Even Shark blatently copied it like a cheeky scammer in their cordless models.

    A fantastic in-depth and thought out, honest review of the new V15 Detect, the best I’ve seen so far. Both positive and negative points too. You show in detail many of the new features and changes no others have pointed out or gone into detail like you have. Things like the scrolled cyclones and updated shroud and detail about the filter material to name a few that others missed! Even Dyson don’t mention or go into that much detail on some of the new features/updates! I’ve learnt about a few new features from your review too!
    I loved the comment where you mention a vacuum is intended to pick up dust and fine particles you can’t see not big pieces of say cereal etc...spot on and couldn’t agree more! Like you say a bit of common sense is needed! I don’t think that is used a lot these days!
    I see some additional new V15 Detect models have been added to the UK line up! A V15 Detect Complete model with the updated HEPA Filter and it includes the light up crevice tool and the built in crevice and dusting brush. 2 Animal models that are £100 cheaper as they don’t include the Laser Fluffy head and one of them includes the built in crevice and dusting brush. Although no in-depth pictures or detail on this new built in tool! Be handy to have built in, may not need the tool caddy that clips to the wand! But that’s still handy too.
    Prices have also dropped on the V11 through to the V7 models too!

    Just bought my v15 yesterday. I have a 8x10 rug I cleaned on high with my v7 animal. I went maybe 3-4 passes then I used the v15 high settings and wow, the v15 picked up so much dust particles after only 2 passes. I was so surprised but also excited because I knew then that the v15 was worth the price for me.

    • @VacuumFacts
      @VacuumFacts  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, the V7 was only designed for 'quick pickups', whereas the V15 is a true mains replacement that's more convenient with smarter bitesized use. Auto mode should only ever really be used though; reactive suction optimises the cleaning power needed.

      The accessories that came with the machine were reviewed in the video. Since its release, other extra accessories were made available. These are reviewed in the subsequent model ua-cam.com/video/4aL0eJenTqw/v-deo.html . Information about filters is found in the manual available from Dyson's website, although several videos on my channel cover this in detail, e.g. ua-cam.com/video/T3prXR-aeOg/v-deo.html . Dyson recommend leaving it to dry for 24 hours (or until it's obviously dry). (They're bringing out technology in the future on the filter which will tell you when it's dry.) If you put it back in the machine wet, it will mould. Their latest machine is reviewed here ua-cam.com/video/7wa3SrXh-0s/v-deo.html. Future technology in the works is discussed here ua-cam.com/video/lWpdK234XfU/v-deo.html and in its pinned comment.

    I want to try out the v15. I have the v11 outsize and I like it. But it didn’t outperform anything special in my deep clean test. I personally don’t think it can replace your full sized upright. But it Definitely is a really good stick vacuum and can work as a main vacuum in smaller places or places that have lower pile carpet. I think the price is a bit high, but it’s Dyson. Everything is really expensive from them. I look forward to getting one to put through my standard tests and see how it compares to other machines I have.

    Great video thanks. Crazy how solid-state batteries are still not yet ready at a mass-production scale - you can imagine the amount of R&D going into it (given the competition on who can get the solid state batteries out in front first), not only with Dyson, but automotive industries as well (Toyota has invested heaps since 2014-2015). But once it's out, can imagine the positive impacts it will have across many other industries which rely on batteries - more run time, faster charge times!

      Yes, I've been disappointed at the other reviews. Slap-dash and missing lots of details people actually want to know about. You get the feeling many out there only review things to 'grow their channel' (read: make more money at your expense from annoying adverts). And that's when they're not gifted one for free to sell out for a bribe review. Gone are the days where people do things because they care. And yes, I don't like spending that much cash, but you get what you pay for, as with everything. Plus there's a 35 day money back guarantee. In the US, they even just released a V15+ version with an even better filter and in-built crevice tool inside the wand.

    Having watched your videos, I know why Dyson cordless vacuums (even the full mains replacement like V15) have yet to incorporate/implement Kinetic tips (found on some of Dyson late main vacuums). It's because of the motor and the battery being technologically held back. I wonder when will Dyson create their ultimate cordless vacuums, which has the Kinetic tips on their cyclones.

    • @absoluterainbow
      @absoluterainbow 2 роки тому

      Further context:
      Volumetric flow needed to make Kinetic cyclones (cyclones with tips as I said) requires (much) more powerful motor, which would consume more power, therefore necessitate larger battery capacity. Dyson needs to make all of that into the package of a typical Dyson cordless vacuum (like the full mains replacement ones since V10).

    • @VacuumFacts
      @VacuumFacts  2 роки тому +1

    On the wobble example with the neck joint you gave. I noticed
    how you dug the wand in to the carpet during the reverse with the V11. As for the V15 you lifted the wand when going in reverse. I'm calling it as I see it. Maybe this is why the V11 wobbled compared to the V15. I currently have the V11 and never ancountered this problem. Btw, my house has heaps of carpet space. Nevertheless awsome review. I'm kinda glad there isn't much difference between the current and last generation. Which means I will happily keep my V11.

    • @VacuumFacts
      @VacuumFacts  3 роки тому

      That is well observed. That was deliberate to make it happen on command for the camera. It doesn't always happen otherwise; just on certain regions of carpet that are more worn. The V15 doesn't do it at all, even if you dig down into the same troublesome carpet spots. It's the side-to-side motion which is the issue.

  • @blackice7408

    If dyson were somehow able to make their stick vacuums cinetic capable but the only way they could do it was to make them corded (because you need to maintain a certain airflow to make the tips vibrate properly and to combat the big restriction that the very small tips make and battery power just won't do) would you buy it?

    I have a Dyson v15. This motor sensivity setting (4:50 min) is not related to the dust sensor, only the load on the electro brush motor. Dyson v15 does not react in auto mode to a larger amount of dust, only to the resistance of the brush, depending on what the surface is currently moving on.
    It is a bit annoying when using the fluffy head, because in the car the vacuum cleaner constantly increases and reduces the engine speed, and in my opinion, the constant Medium mode would be enough for this brush, because when vacuuming it, I switch to eco mode for the most part.

    • @VacuumFacts

      I don't believe that's true. Do you have a source for this claim?

    • @dariuszd1
      @dariuszd1 3 роки тому

      @@VacuumFacts It's probably rather true. If it wasn't, the dust sensor in the dyson v15 would also increase the engine speed when using a regular tip, which unfortunately does not happen, because when using a regular tip, there is no Auto mode, only Medium.
      And as for the resistance of the brush motor, it is enough to press the fluffy head lightly with your hand during work and the vacuum cleaner will immediately adjust it by increasing the motor speed - you will release the roller, the vacuum cleaner motor speed drops immediately.
      Unfortunately, I did not notice the slightest influence of the dust sensor on the operation of the vacuum cleaner while vacuuming. I dare to say (unless Dyson actually has proof otherwise) that the dust sensor is only responsible for showing the colored bars while vacuuming.

    • @VacuumFacts
      @VacuumFacts  3 роки тому

      @@dariuszd1 OK, so it was an assumption on your part. Unfortunately, I don't believe that without evidence, especially as it contradicts simple observations anyone can make on the same floor surface by looking at its reactivity to dust loading. The roller speed is also constant in all situations.

    • @dariuszd1
      @dariuszd1 3 роки тому

      @@VacuumFacts You can do this on a clean, previously vacuum-cleaned floor. Dyson's reaction then is that when you push the vacuum cleaner forward, the motor power is lower than backward, then higher. This is because the tip sucks more to the ground when moving backwards and the roller feels more resistance and the motor speed increases. Unfortunately, this perfect repetition related to the movements described by me is irritating, but in general I do not complain about Dyson, I just wrote to you after watching your movie what this case looks like and I myself use the Fluffy Head for hard floors and vacuum in Eco mode.

Most of my videos expose the wrongdoing and teach how to think to recognise and fact-check claims made, immunising against the ‘alternative facts’ without the need to suppress and ban as a quick-‘fix’ kludge too often seen on the internet these days.

    I for one appreciate how you call out crap other channels do. Many of these vacuum fanatics tend to forget that regular people don’t run exaggerated pick-up tests at home, instead they do actual cleaning. Real life usage is nothing like these test, and most UA-camrs don’t even focus on aspects that are relevant in home cleaning, and which sometimes are only detectable after long time usage.

This whole channel is about exposing all the tricks, deceit, and half truths, and I try to provide what should be told-a representative full truth. And the level of hate I've received by those whose deception has been rumbled, and wonky worldview crushed, has been substantial. Not that any of it caused me to bat an eyelid. You only need to search for V15 review and see the top viewed videos are all 'professional' confident presentations but contain so little of value to people-and that's assuming it's not full of misleading nonsense, which many videos are and why I made my channel in the first place. Sooner or later the suction power will drop because dirt will accumulate inside the cyclones. Dyson need to develop the vacuum cleaner in such a way, that it can also be easily cleaned inside without tools. The inside cleaning is very complex and it takes a long time to do it. The design of many other manufacturers is more customer friendly, you can easily clean the inside without any special tools.

    • @VacuumFacts
      @VacuumFacts  2 роки тому +3

      That's a falsehood. There is no evidence Dyson cyclones fail (unless abused, like anything). If you feel this is not true, please provide some evidence from a reputable source which clearly eliminates neglect as a possible cause. I guarantee you will fail to prove any. Weaker knockoff clones *are* observed to fail, as my Samsung Jet review showed. There is no need to clean inside of a Dyson vacuum. This has been debunked here ua-cam.com/video/TjUdD6FZtMY/v-deo.html and here ua-cam.com/video/hsl4tCaL6g8/v-deo.html . Other manufacturers' products may need internal access because they're poorly designed and fail, even without abuse.

    Look out for the false claim that an X-year warranty means it only has a shelf-life of X years. What it actually means is that it is guaranteed to last a minimum of X years, and if it doesn't for some reason that's not due to neglect, the manufacturer will make repair to ensure it does. The cordless stick vacs don't have 'short shelf lives'. They have very long ones. After 2 years of heavy use and responsible treatment, my V11, like many treated responsibly, works as good as it did on day 1, with only minor cosmetic wear. And furthermore, the modular design of these products means that if anything ever does fail (such as the battery), you can just buy a replacement part and swap it out. So always look out for and look down at utterly silly suggestions that these stick vacs have 'short shelf lives'. They're often made by Dyson-brand effective-racists who deeply despise that there is better technology out there than the particular brand they tribalistically like best. It's deeply primitive behaviour but can mislead those who aren't aware of it.

    • @VacuumFacts
      @VacuumFacts  3 роки тому +3

      @@a111z You have a really bad attitude and don't seem to understand my position that you're mocking. The onus isn't on me to formally quantify how long any other manufacturer's product lasts for. A simple fact-check on your own will reveal that Dyson claim their machines are tested for the equivalent of 5 years of very harsh usage. www.dyson.co.uk/newsroom/overview/features/september-2020/only-a-dyson-works-like-a-dyson . Adverts have historically claimed machines are designed to last for 10 years at the very least (neglected or mistreated excluded). I've already commented on the modular design in the event a component ever does develop issues, so entire machines don't need disposing as is often misleadingly implied. An entire car isn't thrown away if the windshield cracks; you just replace the glass. I can also confirm that my DC35 (the first cordless stick vac) lasted 7 years and was like 'as new' before I chose to upgrade, and my V11 is 'as new' after 2 years of regular use. Even the battery still seems to give the same maximum charge, showing it can be done if you use it correctly.

      Nope. Carpet is probably getting sucked into the head, jamming the brush bar. It slows down to prevent damage to the carpet. Solution is to reduce suction so it's not pulled in as much (eco and head switch set to '-').

    Indeed, I've also enjoyed watching this because of the in depth review. Thank you! I also would like to mention and ask about the outsize. We are running a small family accommodation and my plan was to use the v15 + outsize head as our main units (there will be 2 in total). Our room design is focused on not having furniture etc. lying on the floor so vacuuming and mopping is more effective. The outsize is unnecessarily heavy but has similar power as the V15 - that's why I had the idea of using the outsize head on the V15 machine. Would you considering reviewing this specific combination of tools? Or do you have any thoughts on that?

    • @VacuumFacts
      @VacuumFacts  3 роки тому

      The outside main unit is only 0.5 kg heavier than the normal sized unit. The outsize head probably will work with the V15 but I'm not 100%. But the outsize head doesn't have the antihair wrap tech and, to my knowledge, is generally recycled V11 technology. Being bigger, it can get the job done faster.

    • @kimlorenz7830

      @@VacuumFacts Thank you. The outsize head works with the V15 I just couldn't find any more info about it and hoped you might have some insight in that :) I'll say that saving 500g will be worth it for us as the dyson will be carried around a lot (2 floors), picked up, put down, etc.. Furthermore the wider head, agreed - being bigger so getting the job done faster = saving the time of the guest, saving our time and money. I hope the hairs will not be that big of an issue - getting small stones stuck in the antihair wrap tech might balance out the advantage as we have quite a lot of small stones around the house (from the street). I will try to make an update on that if I get hands on the V15. Let's see, maybe it's going to be an outsize and a V15.

      Agreed with the Absolute description of including a HEPA filter! I was so confused and had to do a lot more research to figure out it meant nothing, and all the V15 Detect units, as well as other Dyson vacuums, come with a HEPA filter that is screwed on the back of the unit. So why is Dyson stating with HEPA filtration on the Absolute and not the other V15 versions? This just confuses customers? The Absolute has a few more attachments and a built-in crevice and dusting tool. I thought the addition of this just added real-time weight to the vacuum and may restrict airflow through the wand, so I opted for the V15 Detect. I would like to get the low-reach adapter that comes with the Absolute, but not sure how well it works. When I first went to Dyson's site to look at these, I thought they were physically different devices, but after an hour or so of research, I determined they are the same base units with extra attachments. You are paying more for those attachments, and many of them I didn't need.

      No vacuum can match Dyson's ball 2. That's only there as a reference to the ceiling of performance. Although, in fairness, I didn't measure boost mode (because it's not representative of normal cleaning); same for eco; plus I couldn't be arsed; it's hard work. Batteries are holding back Dyson cordless at the moment. General inferiority and greed are holding back the competition. I really hope Dyson release a solid state battery for the next gen. I was disappointed it wasn't ready for this one. I'm keeping the V11 I think because I may need it for future videos. When I'm done, a friend will no doubt take it.

      Hi, I'm aware of no evidence that when treated properly and as directed in the manual, the battery needs replacing in 3 years. It will if it has been abused (e.g. using in boost mode all the time). My battery showed no evidence of any loss of performance after 2 years with the V11, and my older DC35 worked for several years 'as new'. Only those that abuse them encourage premature failure, so always make sure any claims it's a problem are backed up with strong evidence (they never are; it's all propaganda). WTF the particle counter is awesome!!! Not only a cookie for geeks, but you can actually evaluate if you need to insist on a carpet in certain spots or not. You can see if its still sucking something in or it's already done. That's highly useful for allergic people or toddlers or just people that like a clean, dust and acarian free environment.

    • @VacuumFacts
      @VacuumFacts  2 роки тому

      That's incorrect for two reasons. Firstly, the information feeding the particle counter is utilised anyway to automatically modify motor power when more dirt is detected. This is the important aspect for those with allergies, along with its true HEPA filtration. Secondly, the particle counter doesn't work like that in practice, because it's always detecting particles when it's on a floor in a way that makes it not possible for the user to determine floor dirtiness (it's a real time histogram...). The particle counter is purely cosmetic and there is absolutely no evidence that resultant cleaning performance is in anyway directly affected by whether the user reads the graph or not for a given cleaning action.

    • @170kmkitsune7
      @170kmkitsune7 2 роки тому

      @@VacuumFacts well you can certainly see a decrease on the incrementation speed when using it in the eco mode so you can change the area. I still find it useful and something to look at while vacuuming. Anyway, the V15 is a great tool for keeping the house clean. I use it about 15-20 mins/day and the carpets and parket look fresh all the time. I am curious to see how long the V15 will last with this usage.

    • @VacuumFacts
      @VacuumFacts  2 роки тому

      @@170kmkitsune7 You're not supposed to use it on eco mode in general. That's a compromise to cater for those who can't change their habits and break cleaning up into more manageable, shorter, easier, bite-sized sessions, and insist on a whole house, tiring, weekly, hour-long mega-clean chore. That also literally doesn't make any sense; eco mode doesn't give as good cleaning performance anyway, so it would be utterly ridiculous to hear someone who uses eco mode complain about the need of a real-time histogram to know when enough dirt is gone. If they'd used auto mode, as they're supposed to, the machine detects and even sorts all this for them automatically. That's the whole point of the sensor. The graph is just a cosmetic you can present with the same data, as explained in the video. And if you're watching the real-time histogram, you're not exactly paying attention to your cleaning. When you think this through, the claim it's useful during the cleaning process makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
      As for longeivity, there's no evidence they don't last for years (including the battery) if treated responsibly and in accordance with the manuals very simple instructions. My DC35 (the very first stick vac) lasted for 7 years and was like new when I upgraded to better technology.

    • @170kmkitsune7
      @170kmkitsune7 2 роки тому

      @@VacuumFacts that's encouraging. If it will last for 3-4 years used in auto mode, it will definitely pay for it's value.
