Gambling is a consensual transaction, just like any other and just like any other business, they are there to make a profit. No different than you walking into a store and buying a phone or going to the movies. You pay to see a movie, you know they are making money from you and you have an experience. Now if you start theater hopping and watch more than the 1 movie you paid for, they have every right to ask you to leave. If you buy a new phone, there is a mark up and the store is making 10% pure profit.
The same is with blackjack, but the house edge is very low and changes based on a players skill level. On average the house edge is about 1% but with card counting, the house edge goes so low, it flips to the negative, as in the casino is loosing money on average. Any business that is loosing money to a customer doesn't need them as a customer.

@@brandonfrancey5592 I agree with your main point. Consent is what's needed, sure.
Here's the main problem. You could easily set up a system that stopped problem gambling. But if they set up that system, there business would collapse.
So if the business cannot be run without stoping problem gamblers... what does that tell you about the viability of the business model?
I'm allllllll for gambling, if regulated properly. It's just that as a business model, it's unlikely it'd survive if being properly regulated.
The argument cannot be "But if we stopped problem gamblers... we'd have to shut down!"

Gambling is like "Come here, play and see if you win!" but if you win, they suddenly change the rules to "No, you can't play here.". And that one-sided rule change is what's wrong with Casinos.

You gotta remember that it just comes down to the individual counter that comes often and wins. Not only is it against gaming laws and some state laws to rule against card counting, they like it in a weird abstract kind of way. (Disclaimer: I live in vegas and have worked at 3 different strip casinos) It’s hard to explain so I’ll just give a quick example. When movies like Rainman, The Hangover and 21 came out, thousands of “average joe’s” who couldn’t pass a 3rd grade math test, watched and read a few “how to” guides online and gave it a crack on their family trip to vegas and lost, spending more money than they normally would have with this false sense of skill. Those movies brought more money into the casinos than the very few won that were good enough at it and as you can see in this series; played long enough to take advantage of the odds shift. So again, they just want to quietly remove “you” as in the real advantage player. And lastly, to this point; this is also why they are nice or nicer now when they kick them out. Can’t scare off the average joes lol

I have to admit, comparing your backoff experience at the end of this video to the backoffs from even less than ten years ago, (that are all over UA-cam) the difference is striking. Videos from older backoffs the pit bosses and management, as well as security are far more aggressive, tense, etc.
I've been 86'd from my local casino and recently got backed off from the only other decent casino in my area (for low stakes low bankroll players like myself). The most recent backoff was word for word how this guy behaved towards me both in the approach and choice of words. I hope casinos continue to take this approach to counters; less confrontational, more polite, firm and blunt. It makes for a less tense situation for everybody. The counter goes on their way, the casino protects their assets (for now!), everyone walks away with some modicum of mutual respect.

Things I've done to keep heat off. I can count and it's worked so far for me. 1. Play the sucker bets (dealer match etc..., Every counting guide says NOT to!! They see you doing that and instantly under estimate you. Plus the casino likes extra profits.) 2. Have an awareness if the pit boss or other managers are directly watching your table. When they do that to me I flat bet when winning and if losing drop down to near or min bet exactly. 3. Be real careful making moves over 10X minimum bet!!! If you are betting $5 most hands then start doing $100 to $150 it's real noticable for the dealer and/or pit bosses and cameras to notice this. I know 10,000 people will disagree with this, but it's worked for me, no back offs yet. I have had 6 nights over $1000+ in 3 years. Take care and good luck.

Being a former pit boss in a strip casino, it's protocol to back off a player who counts. What raises the red flag is the amount of the bet. Stay small in your betting increments & you'll never get noticed. Local residents of Las Vegas live off of counting in black jack. Buy in a hundred, leave when your money has doubled, move to another casino & start over. Two hundred a day free & clear over a possible couple of hours is worth the time spent. Playing at a $10 table, never betting more than $20 will never raise an eyebrow.

Best outing was $2750 in 20 minutes...you should have seen the pit boss and security running over to stop me from playing. I had just colored up and was walking away from the table when they arrived. yes here in Washington seen it happen if you stay a long while you get caught quickly, play 2-3 hours then you dip or play other games you win at wear glasses, maybe a hat switch up the look and come every now and then switch between the casinos so you are less likely to be caught or recognize, been told you want to lose on purpose every now and then

By the same logic, when you are placing bets, you shouldn’t scout the teams, take in consideration their recent forms and injury reports, as well as weather condition. You should just blindly place the bet while also ignoring the odds.

Online tends to have worse game conditions and rules so bad that it’s not viable

    • @tmtmtlsml
      @tmtmtlsml 2 роки тому +5

@@stevenbridges It's actually worse than just game conditions. If you read the fine print on the signup page for these sites, there is a clause in there that states that if they think you are playing with any sort of advantage, they have the right to completely freeze your account and seize any money you have in it. There are quite a few horror stories out there of online casinos (usually based in Latin America) doing just that, and trying to fight an international legal battle against a casino is probably going to cost more than whatever amount was seized

Great video Steven, loving your journey so far. Out of interest, what do you think specifically was the turning point for the casino to make the decision to ban you? Anything you could have done differently to stay under their radar for longer during that session?

I think in this specific instance it was mainly that I was there for about 9 hours, as well as having a massive pile of chips on the table and a very aggressive betspread.
There was probably a moment when the surveillance guys changed shift and the new one was like 'that's a lot of chips...' and then started watching me.
