Gotta save some $ somewhere, armor aint cheap! Shit, neither is ammo! Id much rather shave my head, which I do, than be a baby seal waiting to be clubbed.
Wow it actually stopped 5.56 green tip from a 14” barrel 😱 their website says lvl3 is not rated for 5.56 green tip. You would need lvl3 plus. Very good plate
That isn't the issue that makes it go through... The green tip has nothing really to do with it. It is all FPS, if you shot this out of a 20in barrel, it would ZIP right through...
@@DocC993 speed defeats armor.. the velocity loss in a 14.5inch barrel vs a 20 inch barrel is huge, and obviously more than enough difference to where a 20 inch barrel shooting M855 WILL reliably defeat level III
Nobody talks about that when it comes to their precious steel body armor. Armor industry is super shady and companies like AR500 take advantage of peoples lack of knowledge.
That’s a question I often have, too. Those fragments are a valid concern; but we’re not likely to see people running around with bare plates just taped / strapped to their bodies.
It's steel, of course it does a decent job at being a target. The problem is the fact that the spall (fragmentation from the splash of the round against the steel plate) will eat the bottom of your chin, arms and any other body part in front of the plate. You can see this at 2:24.
There is a guy on UA-cam that as tested steel armor from infidel and he didn’t even flinch getting hit by 308 😱 steel spreed the energy to the entire plate so it is like getting hit by airsoft 😎 the only drawback is the weight.
Well put together video. Both extremely educated on what they are talking about as well
Thank you!
@@mudgunner Anytime! Good content like this needs to be sponsored by companies like AR500
Good job, guys. I’d love to see more collaboration with you guys. Good content.

That guy in the red shirt should sue whoever cuts his hair

Honestly steel plates have a solid purpose, however, you should consider having steel and ceramic plates in finances permit.
The spall is what worries me. Sure your chest would be ok, but what about your jug?
I’m going to try and do a video on that in the future!

It’s the 14 inch barrel. Not enough velocity. These test are stupid unless they use military length rifles.
Very cool video!
Good stuff
What kind of rigs are they wearing?
7,62x54R penetrated the plate, you can clearly see the ground through a tiny hole while inspecting the plate at 8:56-58
That’s the fraglock coating you’re talking about. The bullet separated the coating from the plate but the plate itself did stop the round
@@mudgunner I guess you are right, because it looked a lot like the dirt below the plate. Nice video, keep up the good work!
Imagine what the 3+ will stop
The green tip aren’t true armor penetrators they are made to be more barrier blind
Was that with the build up coat? Or standard base coat?
It was the build up coat
Shoot I need the build up coat 😩
You can buy a cumberband for the freeman carrier ?
This is exactly what I'm asking and came to the comments to see
Where's the actual ar chambered in 556 lol.
Bro look at the spalling lockup at 2:24 on the ground

Nice
what size armor is the od green? thank you!
Level III is you're "basic starting level" LOL
8:57 the yellow tip passed through
It went through the spall coating not the steel.
What ar magazines pouches did you use on your invictus
Not bad unless you get show by the whole reg lol
Looks like Brian Stelter had a son
Put it in a dam carrier 🤦🏻♂️ why doesn’t anyone test it with a carrier to see if it catches spall
