Excellent video. People hate on AR500 but their 3+ steel with buildup coat will stop the most common threats (handgun, AR, and AK) you'll see in the US and stop the fragmentation.
Read your article on Gu Dig linked over. A very well done test. You have a future in the industry. Keep moving forward. You stayed on point perfect descriptions of your actions no irrelevant filler talk. Just what holds us old guys attention and makes an instant read with your name attached.
Only big sharp chunks of shrapnel are going to have a chance to make it out of a quality fresh plate carrier. And my AR500 Veritas carrier is made out of authentic 500D Cordura fabric. I plan on getting their new frag wraps that they just started offering this year. That + my build up coat will be enough to put my mind at ease about any spalling. I also have welders kevlar neck gaiters and BSV kevlar arm & and hand protectors. My bullet proof kit is solid.
Next time test it while inside a plate carrier and not just the plate... ceramic plate cracks and breaks into chunks unless you get the one that has the Dupont Kevlar multiple wraps that is oven shrunk tight that holds it together at least but still there is cracks and broken chunks that is being held as all other ceramics falls apart sadly. While in the army back in the day long ago even before Kevlar ballistic helmet, M16A2, and the Humvee were issued - we had still use steel pots of the same make model since WWII - we only have flak vests of 18 layers of Kevlar and they aren't bullet resistant either. Steel plate w/ coating is good enough and not bulky and least has 20 year shelf life whereas others have 5 year self life.
As far in as the plate was set in the box, I don't think the spall would of hit the body with the last 3.08 round. But idk the size of the box either. 😬
5.56 x 45 and 9 millimeter Luger do not do well against plate armor at all. I do not even consider .22 Long Rifle a self defense round, but a varmint hunting and a target shooting round. 9 millimeter Luger is bare minimum for self defense for me.

Do a review on the new SafeLife FRAS body armor......supposedly "rifle-rated" soft-type body armor that shouldn't spall

Jesus christ.
1. Learn what spalling is.
2. Put it in a plate carrier
3. Who is going to lay there and get shot that many times?
That 12g wreck’n shop
12 gauge gonna do what 12 gauge does best!
Thanks for doing this test! All the gun channels shit all over these plates but they seem to work fine
Well done! Gotta love a 12ga
Good aim. I’d have to shoot from like 10 yards away to hit every time. Haha.
The slug shot, the top of the box split from the plate slamming into it. Observant you are not my dude.

Goof thing about steel plates……if you are fortunate enough to live from the attack you have a new range plate to shoot at
