Wow, my wife's Mazda 3 has been ghosting for about 6 months now, and like others here, I tried resetting/re-connecting/... to no avail. She took it to our Mazda dealer here in the UK with a clear and thorough explanation of the problem, including videos, and the customer service person wrote it down fairly accurately. When we collected the car the result (following £130 for diagnostics!) was 'fault confirmed', it went on to state that liquids had probably been spilled on the wheel system and it would need replacing first (£745) so that they could then run further diagnostics, and that they had never seen this problem before. I was very angry, and I pointed out to the rep that a liquid spill would not explain why the functions don't work when stationary but work perfectly when driving, the rep answered 'that's why we need to replace the wheel system first'. On the drive back I searched for the fault with the actual name of the part (MZD Unit), and your other vid turned up - within 10 minutes I had sourced the fault and found a solution. Now I've seen this one I think I will buy one from Amazon UK (£19.99) and try it. I'll let you know how it all goes, but I feel there may be a strongly worded email to our local dealer!!

Man it would be nice if they sold a slightly more expensive one that came with the plastic surround. Would save so much headache, similar to how phone screens can come with the front bezel or not
Concerning the removal of the glass from the frame, it is preferable to insert our tool from the inside of the frame so as not to damage the plastic of the frame which is fragile. Also, paint thinner using your fingernail or a tool will help remove all the glue that will remain on the frame after removing as much as possible using a blade. And finally, clean the frame with brake cleaner before inserting the new window.

Hey radi eye vanov, question for you if you don’t mind. I’m having the ghost problem on my 2017 Mazda CX 5. I watched your quicker disconnect video of the front digitizer, so that seems like a quicker fix. Does this front digitizer replacement fix the ghosting problem all together while also allowing you to continue having touch screen functionality? More straight forward is this front digitizer what is causing the ghosting problem? The dealership wants $675 for a new unit and when I brought up “I’ll buy the part and do it myself” I was then told “oh well I wouldn’t attempt it, plus you’d need a software update”… I can’t see a need for a software update if it is just this front digitizer causing the problem. Any thoughts?
Yes, the screen/digitizer is the cause of the ghost touch. It has to do with the touch sensitivity wires/connection within the screen failing over time as it ages and then it thinks it's getting touched when it is not. If you replace the screen altogether like in this video then it will go back to working normally and you will have your touchscreen functionality back. No need for any software update and yes you can totally do it yourself. If you've ever had to replaced a cracked screen on your cellphone this is exactly the same. Nothing needs to be done to the actual phone itself, just needs the screen replaced. Mechanics at dealerships aren't electronics technicians and they aren't allowed to take the unit apart and change individual parts like the screen with third party cheap Chinese screens so they charge you to replace the whole unit unfortunately.
