I just did this in my 2017 mazda 6, I was getting the crazy ghost touching more n more. Literally had the head unit out in 5 mins, so darn easy. Then disconnecting the ribbon was also simple. While I had it out I used 90% rubbing alcohol and cleaned off the scratchy anti glare coating, now looks shiny n smooth and no more ghost touch. Thanks for sharing this!!! Such a simple fix!! I never use my touch screen either!

Hi mate, coming back to Your vid - I'm experiencing the same issue but my Z wont show me any codes ;/ I'm betting on one of the camshaft sensors or crankshaft sensor at the bottom of the transmission. The thing is that my Z probably reads crankshaft position because rpm needle is moving during crank (couldn't see it on ur vid) - but it wont start. When my mechanic is connecting obd to the ecu car magically starts without issues, then I can start it once and drive without any issues. Car completely dies when I want to start it for second time, only cranking - no starting. Hope You can at least clarify what is going on with my car because I'm out of ideas :///

Mine did not throw any codes either and acted the exact same way. I say throw a crankshaft position sensor in and see what happens. They are cheap enough to try it out. I have the link in the description I think.

Concerning the removal of the glass from the frame, it is preferable to insert our tool from the inside of the frame so as not to damage the plastic of the frame which is fragile. Also, paint thinner using your fingernail or a tool will help remove all the glue that will remain on the frame after removing as much as possible using a blade. And finally, clean the frame with brake cleaner before inserting the new window.

Do you mean with the WD-40 that I was showing? If that's what you mean, it's only to be able to get them off as they can be heat seized. If you can take them all off without spraying great, but if it's an older car, they can be stuck on there pretty good, especially if lock tight was used previously.

Have you had any issues? I installed this on my 2014 Mazda 6. Followed your video essentially and it worked just fine the first two days. Since then, it turns on the car. But when I get in, I press and hold the break, then press the start button, but it shuts off the car. And it’s intermittent. Doesn’t do it always but has been doing it more frequently. Have also tried to hit unlock twice after it remote starts the car. Get in press the break and start button at the same time. I’ve tried unlock just once and different ways. It will still shut off the vehicle defeating the purpose of the remote start.

Wow, my wife's Mazda 3 has been ghosting for about 6 months now, and like others here, I tried resetting/re-connecting/... to no avail. She took it to our Mazda dealer here in the UK with a clear and thorough explanation of the problem, including videos, and the customer service person wrote it down fairly accurately. When we collected the car the result (following £130 for diagnostics!) was 'fault confirmed', it went on to state that liquids had probably been spilled on the wheel system and it would need replacing first (£745) so that they could then run further diagnostics, and that they had never seen this problem before. I was very angry, and I pointed out to the rep that a liquid spill would not explain why the functions don't work when stationary but work perfectly when driving, the rep answered 'that's why we need to replace the wheel system first'. On the drive back I searched for the fault with the actual name of the part (MZD Unit), and your other vid turned up - within 10 minutes I had sourced the fault and found a solution. Now I've seen this one I think I will buy one from Amazon UK (£19.99) and try it. I'll let you know how it all goes, but I feel there may be a strongly worded email to our local dealer!!

As mentioned, this issue has been around for many many years....if you do a search for ghost touch mazda you'll find lots of forum discussions on the matter. That being said, I'm sure some owners have it and just ignore it. I have a 2017 mazda 3 GT with relatively low mileage (less than 50K kms) and it just stared to develop the screen peeling issue which seems to happen with the ghost touch.
