I think it might be less luck for hitters with timing down well enough to shoot for the gaps, fewer fly outs more line drives, and those that aim to hit bloopers over the infield for singles like Ichiro, and quick to first. More luck for sluggers and those that just swing at the ball and hope for the best.

To add on to this, only two second baseman have ever hit for 300+ homeruns for their career in the MLB. Jeff Kent and Robinson Cano. For reference, you’d have to go to the seventh highest mark for career homers by a right fielder (Larry Walker!) to see someone closely. And even then Walker has him beat by nine home runs. Marcus Semien is leading the way for power hitting to become a mainstream second basemen staple.

Uggla was unbelievable during this streak. And it wasn’t a bunch of 1 for 4’s or 1 for 5’s. He was having multihit games with extra base hits and home runs. He was pretty much the best player in baseball for about 2 months.
As a life long Braves fan 40 years this year. I watched this all in real time and was baffled by his streak the entire time. But it never redeemed him in the eyes of my fandom and I’m glad they got rid of his Uggla ass.

I remember watching Dan playing in the High Desert in California. He played 3 different years for the Lancaster Jethawks a Class A California league team. . He was a fan favorite.

Dan uggla was my all time favorite player. I was playing high school baseball and never felt right at the plate, I watched his stance where his hands were really high and would keep moving. Every like three seconds he would drop his bat back and pick it back up to stay loose, I did that and it took me from 8th on the line up to batting in the heavy hitter spot. Also people said I almost looked like him because I had huge arms and a huge cheek every time I chewed tobacco or dipped. Great guy, I’d kill to meet him one day

I was surfing the tube looking players highlights when I seen the title. The title was perfect, not click bait or hate excite to get that click. so i went on passing it up. Just few hours later I see it again but I swing and clicked play. I have to be clear that I found your investigation accurate. The MLB video selected as your fillers worked very smoothly and natural whenever the film highlights matching the narrators storytelling, I congratulate you my kind Sir on this mini documentary. I did not expect to find hours on hours of top quality of work and yet be so respectfully uplifting at a time when nothing was going right. Thing is, even when Uggla was good, he sucked. No D, didn't run well, rarely walked, crapload of Ks, etc. He was never more than a one trick pony. He had 2 or 3 nice homer seasons but it's like a God awful hockey player hitting 40 goals a few times while constantly turning it over. It might briefly look pretty but man, it won't end well.

I met Dan Uggla when I lived in Tennessee. His brother was on my softball team. It was when he was with Arizona and playing in the fall league there too. Anyway he was a super cool guy very nice. It was definitely a team player he even high five me after I scored a run and said good job. He was smashing the ball over the lights. Maybe add some rough times on the field but from what I knew of them it was a really good gentleman. I'd take a 173 batting average for 62 million bucks any day.
he made so many stupid errors at second for Atlanta. His field play was so bad, I don't care if he hit 100 HR's and had 200 RBI's. He sucked at second. I don't have anything personal against the guy but his errors cost us so many games. I was so glad when they finally got rid of him.
He's from Columbia TN and I'm from about 30 miles away albeit a lot older.. I was active duty and had leave time, I walked into Tootsies and was standing there with my Red Sox hat on.. I moved and walked up to the stage, standing there I felt this guy looking at me smiling, I looked at him and he said you really gonna stand by me with a f**king Redsox hat on? I looked and was like dude I know you but I can't remember and it hit him. He started laughing then looked at my t shirt which had my unit name on it. He asked and I said yeah, he bought me a beer and as people began to notice who he was they wanted pics, autographs and so on. I'm a huge bb fan and wanted at least a Pic but people actually began being crazy.. he turned and said you guys want Jay's? he's a true hero.. that got people thinking I was with him and asking me if I could get them this n that. He's a really nice guy and I was surprised that he wasn't as big as I had thought but I still have the Miller lite he bought for me.
he's the worst defensive 2B. To be honest he should have went to AL team and DH'ed. Also his hitting coaches were MIA. Someone should have told him to stop pulling the ball sooner then he wouldn't have all those sub .200 seasons.

Everyone is talking about his hitting streak which I remember well when the Braves got him especially but mainly what sticks out in my mind about him is his unique pre batting ritual & stance, his was like no other. Enjoyed this video very much.

Good stuff. I remember Uggla playing for the Braves back then. I didn't pay as much attention to baseball back then as I do now. Watching the Braves in the last few years at Turner field was excruciating. I don't know how we pulled out that WS, but between that and the Bulldogs football national championship, I might retire from sports Fandom. I don't think it can get any better.

Dan uggla was my all time favorite player. I was playing high school baseball and never felt right at the plate, I watched his stance where his hands were really high and would keep moving. Every like three seconds he would drop his bat back and pick it back up to stay loose, I did that and it took me from 8th on the line up to batting in the heavy hitter spot. Also people said I almost looked like him because I had huge arms and a huge cheek every time I chewed tobacco or dipped. Great guy, I’d kill to meet him one day

Interesting tidbit: Despite the .179 average in 2913 Uggla was actually worth positive 1.2 OWAR that season because of 77 walks and a .309 OBP which was still plenty acceptable for a 2B.
I was surfing the tube looking players highlights when I seen the title. The title was perfect, not click bait or hate excite to get that click. so i went on passing it up. Just few hours later I see it again but I swing and clicked play. I have to be clear that I found your investigation accurate. The MLB video selected as your fillers worked very smoothly and natural whenever the film highlights matching the narrators storytelling, I congratulate you my kind Sir on this mini documentary. I did not expect to find hours on hours of top quality of work and yet be so respectfully uplifting at a time when nothing was going right. But its like joe dirt said "Life is too short to waste doing nothing make everyday count because we don't know when we'll leave this world. Cherish every moment you have with those loved ones". Give it all you have to the game and you'll never regret a play just the learning experience. BUT!!! Thing is, even when Uggla was good, he sucked. No D, didn't run well, rarely walked, crapload of Ks, etc. He was never more than a one trick pony. He had 2 or 3 nice homer seasons but it's like a God awful hockey player hitting 40 goals a few times while constantly turning it over. It might briefly look pretty but man, it won't end well.

I met Dan Uggla when I lived in Tennessee. His brother was on my softball team. It was when he was with Arizona and playing in the fall league there too. Anyway he was a super cool guy very nice. It was definitely a team player he even high five me after I scored a run and said good job. He was smashing the ball over the lights. Maybe add some rough times on the field but from what I knew of them it was a really good gentleman. I'd take a 173 batting average for 62 million bucks any day.
he made so many stupid errors at second for Atlanta. His field play was so bad, I don't care if he hit 100 HR's and had 200 RBI's. He sucked at second. I don't have anything personal against the guy but his errors cost us so many games. I was so glad when they finally got rid of him.
He's from Columbia TN and I'm from about 30 miles away albeit a lot older.. I was active duty and had leave time, I walked into Tootsies and was standing there with my Red Sox hat on.. I moved and walked up to the stage, standing there I felt this guy looking at me smiling, I looked at him and he said you really gonna stand by me with a f**king Redsox hat on? I looked and was like dude I know you but I can't remember and it hit him. He started laughing then looked at my t shirt which had my unit name on it. He asked and I said yeah, he bought me a beer and as people began to notice who he was they wanted pics, autographs and so on. I'm a huge bb fan and wanted at least a Pic but people actually began being crazy.. he turned and said you guys want Jay's? he's a true hero.. that got people thinking I was with him and asking me if I could get them this n that. He's a really nice guy and I was surprised that he wasn't as big as I had thought but I still have the Miller lite he bought for me.
It's funny because Batting Average doesn't really matter as much anymore. To hit around. 250 with his other numbers in today's game. Superstar lol
If I'm remembering correctly, Frank Wren was the GM who signed Uggla to the Braves. It was the beginning of the end for Frank.
With more "specialty" pitchers, shifts, and other assorted tactics, I'm not sure Joltin Joe's record will EVER be broken!
he's the worst defensive 2B. To be honest he should have went to AL team and DH'ed. Also his hitting coaches were MIA. Someone should have told him to stop pulling the ball sooner then he wouldn't have all those sub .200 seasons.
