It's crazy how little this gets talked about. He came in to the world series without a hit on the season and crushed the ball, that shouldn't be possible. Another great video btw, keep it up!
I came to the US at 2 years old. one of my very first memories is my uncle telling me "we speak english and love baseball." growing up in chicago i learned to love our losing cubs. i was in highschool when they won the world series and i remember balling my eyes out. My uncle called me saying "we finally did it mijo we won!" thank you for this video Baseball Historian, you are a gift to this platform
Great story bro I remember the first time I ever walked up the stairs going to my seat at Wrigley field when I was 9 years old I balled my eyes out I can def relate bro
The 2016 World Series will always go down as my favorite. I’m a diehard orioles fan. But I’m a baseball fan first and foremost. And though I love both teams that played (my grandfathers team is Cleveland, and ryne sandberg was one of my favorites growing up) I was rooting for Chicago the whole way. The drama of game 7 is exactly why this sport is the greatest. There’s so many potential outcomes, and it makes for great moments. And digging deeper into kyles journey that year just makes the 2016 World Series just that much more precious and memorable. Cos I love this game! “It’s hard not to be romantic about baseball.”
i cried like a little bitch that night lmao. thought id never see the day tbh. they’ve been nothing but mediocre to dogshit until 2015 in my lifetime. now they’re back to dogshit haha
As a Nationals fan, I will never forget the joy he brought to this otherwise disappointing season when he hit all those dingers in June. When he went down with the hammy, it all went down for the Nats.
As a lifelong Cubs fan, getting to relive this series of events meant a lot to me (especially after how things have turned out)... thank you so much for this video!... it literally brought tears to my eyes.
Exactly! The stars aligned that inning. Schwarber’s single, Almora’s tag up, the intentional walk on Rizzo, Zobrist’s RBI double, and Miguel Montero’s RBI single. It relieved so much tension off the backs of millions.
Always loved to see Kyle Schwarber at the plate since his debut but his return to help the Cubs win that October Classic turned him into an immediate favorite of mine, since then I have been rooting for him no matter where he goes. Thank You for this great video, one that I will enjoy again and again ! Blessings from San Juan PR 🇵🇷, the land of 5 Hall Of Famers.
I remember game 7! I remember screaming and upsetting my neighbors as Davis hit that home run. I didn't have a horse in the race either way. Such a great series.
as a cubs fan I thought it was over. probably a top 3 moment in my life the cubs winning the world series. ran outside and people are honking their horns cruising down the street super slow. parked at green lights getting out of their cars, scremaing into thin air i sweaer it was insanity
I feel the pain trust me being a Cubs fan since 92 before 15 I only made the playoffs twice and I was used to losing seasons because that was the Cubs way I always had respect for Cleveland Always said the greatest team to never win it was the 95 Indians but yet the biggest heartbreak for Indians had to be 97 what was it two outs away from winning it all smh
I randomly stopped on espn and watched the power of this kid who played for Indiana. He had a cool last name. But most importantly as a little league coach he resembled my son in batting stance, catcher, speed and even body and looks. Got excited when Cubbies selected him in the draft. Saw his first game vs Cincinnati. Made it to Wrigley with my son on Schwarber’s first game. Had them custom made Cubs Schwarber game jersey made for my son that day (first one ever because the guy didn’t even know who he was). But I knew that swing would be special. I had dreams my son could be the next Schwarber but a damn high school football injury ruined our dreams. 7 titanium screws and a plate to repair his ankle. I was so upset when Schwarber got traded. I almost threw away all my Cubs gear. Well we both live through Schwarber now and will always support him. I love watching him play because I see my son in him too. Except for the strike outs. My son had a better eye…lol. Keep hitting them far Mr. Schwarber because you are very special in more ways than one. Btw thank you for bringing a World Series to Chicago. That I will never forget!

Literally my favorite player still and my favorite in recent cub history. I was so heartbroken when we didnt sign him back in the offseason. If the cubs know whats right they will try to get him back this offseason
Kyle Schwarber is just a man you WANT on your team. He has the attitude that is worth diamonds. How many players would be helping the front office and scouts while recovering from injury? That's next level dedication. The Philadelphia Phillies found that out the last 2 years as well. He knows what he is: A "3 outcomes" hitter. He hits for power, gets on base, and goes nuts in the post season. What more do ya want? Not everyone can be Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, or Mike Trout. Just know you've got a Joey Gallo or Adam Dunn type on the team, and use them!
Awesome video.... What's up, Kyle? I know you'll see this. I wish they would of included his written report by Kyle's Cub scout. He said, "Kyles bat is the sound that Babe Ruth's would make." IU Bloomington loved Kyle Schwarber
12:40 I appreciate, and highly respect a little self-deprecating humor every now and then. I'll subscribe to that channel based on that alone. Cheers. 🍻
As a Cubs fan, I think that video was awsome. Thank you for making this video, Baseball Historian. Now that the Cubs traded Kris Bryant, like he mentioned, and Javier Baez, and also Anthony Rizzo, Willson Contreras is my favorite player for the Cubs. Before they traded everybody, Willson Contreras and Javier Baez were my favorites. Now it is Willson Contreras. Nico Horner is my second favorite player.
Thank you so much for this awesome content. I can’t recommend this to my friends enough and you bring out a side of the game that the younger generation rarely gets to see. Thanks for preserving the game’s past.

During the 2016 World Series when the Cubs were going into Cleveland down 3-2 I knew that Chicago would have a much better chance knowing that Schwarber would be able to DH in an AL stadium.
It would be cool to see one of these on Marcus Stroman’s 2015 season, tore his ACL in spring training and was supposed to be out til 2016 and he went back to Duke to rehab, and also graduated at the same time, then made it back for the end of the Jays postseason push in September and was lights out in his few starts and in the post season.
I dont think enough is made of Schwarber's swing. He doesn't look like he should be able to generate as much torque as he does but his swing is as graceful as it is powerful.
Fun fact: The 1962 Cubs were the only team in the NL not to have a winning record against the expansion New York Mets. The teams finished the season series tied with 9 wins apeice
I honestly forgot it was Schwarber's knee, for some reason I thought he broke his leg all this time. Very reminiscent of Adrian Peterson's recovery in terms of just how quick it was
I still won't forget back when the cubs went down down 3-1against the Indians I was telling everyone that kyle Schwarber was gonna be a stud as a DH and win world series MVP was wrong on the mvp part but he was a stud nonetheless! *edit* also noticed miguel Montero didn't get recognition for that RBI that put us up for good.
As a Red Sox fan.. I'm grateful I got to witness not only the 0-3 come back against the Yankees and then the curse ending championship that followed, but also getting to see The Cubs break their curse. With the Theo connection, I think a lot of Red Sox fans were happy for it as well.
You Earned a Sub! Thanks for the video. Have you heard of Geoff Jenkins?? We Played little league together and to see him finally earn a World Series Ring was amazing.
you outta do this for CJ Cron. dislocated his knee on a swing playing pioneer ball for the angels's affiliate orem owlz and now is arugably a top 5 first basemen in the league
i am from cincinnati so i support my reds. but i am so very happy that the cubs finally won a world series. being somewhat mediocre for so long can really start to whittle away your soul. we have the cincinnati bengals so i have an idea of how you might have felt. so kyle really did ,in a way, helped clinch the title for the cubs. if you ask me kyle's hit was just about as glorious as Kirk Gibson's walkoff home run for the dodgers in 1988

Trust me it gets talked about. He’ just hasn’t been relevant until this year to get brought up
I remember watching this game and laughing at my Cub fan friends cuz a guy with no hits on the year was up. Boy I looked silly
No pressure for him
even pete rose didnt think so either but!!!!!!
I assure you no Cubs fan will ever stop talking about him.

Very relatable
I ugly cried the night the Cubbies won
that Giants Kris Bryant joke hurt more than it should have.
Take it from a Cubs fan
Not even a Cubs fan but it still hit me funny.
That hurt.
It enraged me lol.
It's even funnier now since he's now a Rockie

Schwarbs is a forever a hero in Chicago. Much love from us cubs fans. Hope he mashes for a long time wherever he’s at.
On the Phillies now
Definitely mashing it lmao leads league in homers

Schwarber is a beast. That injury basically wrecked any hopes left for the season.
@@YellowSkarmory If That Injury Never Happened Schwarber Would've Had An Historic Season
If that injury never happened, i don’t think you would have traded Trea or Soto

Almora's tagging and advancing to second on a sacrifice fly shouldn't go barely-mentioned.
Exactly! The stars aligned that inning. Schwarber’s single, Almora’s tag up, the intentional walk on Rizzo, Zobrist’s RBI double, and Miguel Montero’s RBI single. It relieved so much tension off the backs of millions.

Schwarber played for the nats for half a season and made more of an impact than most players
His HR against St.Louis in the 2015 NLDS is top 3 in cub history
The one against Pittsburgh in the Wildcard is Top 10 as well and my personal favorite home run of my lifetime
