The Snap On is stronger and can take a lot more squeezing force. It's clear from the design. I've used mine to rip apart tough hardened rubber/plastics and metal clamps in hard-to-reach spaces. I love their diamond cut pattern and the tapered tip design of the Snap On too, grips better and more precise. For automotive use, the Snap On wins. But the Milwaukee pliers are great value especially if all you want them for is to grab small things in tight places.
Don't forget Knipex ...I have the same set in Knipex, straight and bent. Love em. $80 for the pair. The usual German build quality, can't go wrong with Knipex pliers👍
The next question is are the ips better than the Milwaukee? They are like a mix between the snap on and the Milwaukee. They are groove lock so you get more angles. I carry the Milwaukee and have old school snap on and the ips set in my garage tools. The Milwaukee is great for stuff I do when pieces slip down inside a hot tub and I have to reach inside a hole and pull something out. Without removing the side because something is next to it or just to save time
An update would be welcomed...I just picked the Milwaukee set and think I will be quite happy! I have a large Snap On toolbox with many tools and I will say that we are all living in a fantastic "tool-time" because 30 plus years ago our options were much more limited compared to now...IMO
I got the Made in Japan IPS brand, which shares a similar design to Milwaukee but offers a longer reach (due to a better geometry design) at an affordable price of 26 SGD or 18 USD each.
@@HeyDerFolks you will not be disappointed. Especially by the price. They work great though and you will reach for them over something more fancy a lot
People will spend $1000 a month on eating fast food, alcohol, energy drinks, and Starbucks. Then, act like $100 for a set of USA made pliers is somehow the craziest thing ever.
Be patient Snap on always has some form of pliers and pliers sets on promo your money goes a lot further I found a new dealer 2 years ago that has more stuff on sale and promos that none of the other trucks are showing 👍😎👍
@@HeyDerFolks dealer dropped off the Jun sale flyer pg 9 has needle nose pliers on sale it's only 10%off they should start having pliers sets on promo soon good luck
It is the Submariner. Before buying the Sub I originally wanted the Batman GMT but found that the blue on the bezel didn’t show up well when in the sunlight (looks great in the showroom). Very happy with the Submariner some ~5 years later.
For sure! I have a handful of Craftsman made in USA tools that my grandfather gave me, and they’re amazing. Wish they were still around in the same capacity.
Some Snap-on stuff is fantastic and the best on the market albeit over priced. Some tools are average and over priced. Some are rebranded and then hit with a huge markup. Do your homework and buy what best suits you.
I'm only going say this My auto instructor said (30 yrs ago) When it comes to tools buy the BEST that YOU can afford When comes to snap on absolutely love them do I have cheaper tools yes Bottom line is you get what you pay for I'll buy once and cry once
Milwaukee's hand tools have be actually a let down for me. I have a pair of their linesmans and the 5 piece screw driver set and they feel cheap and poorly made.
Comments like these are funny to me. The Snap On truck driver is the "last mile delivery" person for the Snap On tools. They do not set the prices, and they take home a margin of say 5-20% on each tool sale. That is, of course, gross margin. They still have to deal with the operating expenses associated with owning and operating the truck, plus the fees associated with facilitating the transaction. Not to mention the loss associated with folks not paying their bills, and who knows if they'll be able to repo the tools. I do not buy on truck credit, though I suppose that is an additional revenue stream for the dealer. The last time I looked at the Snap On annual report (they're a public company, after all), Snap On had a ~50% gross margin which means it costs them ~$10 to make a ~$20 screwdriver. That $10 represents the raw materials + direct & indirect labor associated with creating the item. It does not include all of the R&D and other operational expenses needed for Snap On to create new tools (that Harbor Freight can later make exact replicas of). The overwhelming majority of those costs are the function of paying US employees a living wage. Certainly, you could go the HF route and pay offshore folks a fraction of that, and use cheaper materials, to make something that looks and feels very similar. To each their own. I can't speak to it precisely (I do not own a truck), but it is generally reported online that the median for net profit in owning a truck is between $75k and $150k depending, again, on the net margin. A great living, to be sure, but not home in the mountains for the winter and lake house in the summer money.
All good, as you can imagine I get a lot of “you’re paying for the dealers children to go to college” comments and don’t respond, not sure why I opted to respond this one specifically. I’ve been meaning to make a video on this topic for a while anyway, I think breaking down the supply chain would be interesting (or bore people to death, I guess we’ll see 🤣)

Perfectly summed up!
Do you own and use the Milwaukee for an accurate comparison? Thanks.

Haven’t had a chance to checkout the knipex ones, but all the Knipex I have, I like. Will consider them in the future

IPS seems to be a common theme in response. Will have to check them out!

Snap-on “Talon Grip”!!!
Diameter, not circumference. I agree, always buy the best tool you can find, which is Snap-on!!!
I knew someone was going to catch that 😅 Agreed, Scott, Snap On is the top dog

Very true!
Ugh your right, I should track my obesity expense better
@brandonm6052 Me too. Then I could afford more tools.
@JohnC686 my problem is I want colored foam and colored handles...that's really why I want snap on.

Should have tried that test but without cutting the top off.
Facts. After I cut it off I realized how big the opening was, in my mind it was going to be a lot narrower
Does anyone miss the older craftsmen sears tools.

No disagreement here 😅
I got the Snap On 15 inch. They are the bomb

Why consider choosing when you can buy both like you did. That is the right answer. Hahaha
Ha, fair point 🤣

Snap on only in my collection 🤣
He’ll yeah!
