As a DIYer myself, I met my current Snap On dealer at a brewpub. He was out with his wife, but still wearing a Snap On coat and Snap On hat. I casually asked if he was a dealer and he said "No.." Then he laughed and handed me a business card. I called him on Monday, and the rest is history.
Doc, I’ve watched more of your videos on my iPad late at night while my wife is trying to sleep than I care to admit. I just showed her this comment and she said “Babe, your Elvis!”, only half joking. I appreciate your note, and thank you for taking the time to comment. I watch all your videos and though they’ve cost me a few bucks, they’ve all been worth it. If you ever find yourself on an over landing trip in upstate New York, I’d love to buy you a beer. I need to start watching barbershop videos to see if people complain about how much they spend on clippers and scissors as much and shadetree mechanics do
Wow dude, that snap on dealer was really blowing some smoke up your you know what. Blue point is melted down snap on tools, hahaha, nah. Blue point are just made in taiwan or china tools that snap on sells to capture a more price conscious buyer. Knipex fits german cars better because they're made in germany? Hahaha, nah. That's not how that works. A metric tool has to meet metric specifications. like ANSI or DIN specifications. They're all the same "fit" wise for the most part. Especially comparing top tier manufacturers like snap on and knipex.
@@HeyDerFolks I mean no offense to you. I'm just calling out that snap on dealer for saying stuff that is just a straight up lie or made up. Just gives me that grimy "says anything for a sale" type sales man vibe to me.
I hear you, and I get it, we should all take what a salesman says with a grain of salt. That being said, why offer such an elaborate story as a lie? His initial answer was that they were snap on designed (not manufactured) tools, which were likely to be better than the Husky/Kobalt etc. stuff you’d get at a homecenter. He then opened the drawer full of broken tools to show me and explained the process by which he sends them back to snap on and what they do with them. I’m not the expert, and I don’t really have a dog in the fight (I have no interest in buying blue point), I’m just not sure what he would stand to gain from perpetuating such an elaborate hoax.
@@HeyDerFolks I'm not claiming to know all the inner works at snap on. But logic dictates that of course they will scrap steel. There is money to be made. However companies typically would just offload the scrapping process to a third party who specializes in that field. Welcome to the Snap-On addiction. One tool turns into 4 then into foam sets next thing you know you buy a roll cart. Then you realize that roll cart isnt big enough for all your tools so you decide to buy a master series and so on. She thinks they are cute. So you tell her snap on caters not only to techs and diyers but to girly girls like her. After all the fuss you end up with a pink epiq full of pink tools. Anyways good tool haul lol
🤣 sounds like you’re speaking from experience! I’m in phase 2 of your list, when I pickup a new 3/8 socket set next Friday the foam is a likely contender…
I watch all the tool videos on UA-cam that you do, and I must say you rank high as a very well spoken individual. Glad you picked up some quality tools. Enjoy!

I remember my first time on the Snap On truck. Dealer was extremely polite and helpful. I was giddy as can be. Ended up purchasing a F80 3/8 drive ratchet and a pair of Duckbill pliers. He gave me a free hat as well. Pretty sure all dealers do that for first time buyers.
Im only 23 and I’ve been in the industry for for 4 years. I’m so glad that the giddiness is universal, congrats on the Haul. Ha, no John Deere’s (yet), but if I can convince to let me buy a farm….look out! For now I mostly work on my Kawasaki UTV, Craftsman zero turn, pontoon boat, and truck. I am looking to get into an early 2000s or late 1990s Jeep to fix up and make a UA-cam series out of it
You’ve opened up the gates of hell buying snap-on. As a snap-on tool addict myself, it’s like a crack. You get your fix and you’re good for awhile and then you need another hit.
I am just a DIY myself and I like high-end tools. I watch the monthly truck sales catalog UA-cam videos. When I see things I want and ON SALE I text my local Snaop-on, MAC, Matco, and Cornwell truck and go meet them. FYI, ask for a FREE large catalog.
I picked up the free large catalog from the website on a previous order, super cool to have around the shop. I’ve seen Mac trucks around but never been on a truck besides snap on. May have to check them out!
First video and I’ll definitely be watching more!… you really don’t use the tools? Is something you collect? Just curious when you said something like “the tools themselves are the end”. Cheers! The set looks bit of kit! I’m eyeing those pliers for certain. Plus, my favorite ratcheting stubby is hands down my snap on. If I need something smaller I have a couple options but if I can fit the stubby and my hand in there… I have to try to hard handle stubby as I recently saw one. My dealer never even mentioned it haha
I generally buy the tools in search of a project. I use them as much as I am able, though the videos of me using them don’t seem to do as well on UA-cam as the ones of me buying and unboxing. Love the stubby ratcheting Snap Ons!
As an experienced snap on truck shopper, I dont know if youre prepared for the absurd amount of new lights that snap on comes out with, one time the dealer was showing me a new light they just came out with and half way through the demonstration it became a completely different light.
You can’t go wrong with SnapOn. Congrats. I did grin when you said 3/4” drive instead of 3/8. I have a 3/4” drive SK and a Craftsman ratchet. It’s not a happy time when they come out.
Eh, not really worried about how it’d look, but aiming to be respectful first time on the truck. I’m sure he wouldn’t have cared (pretty reasonable question to ask), but I had a directional understanding of the prices given my wishlist on the website so I was okay without having to ask.
12:52 The Surefire Maximus is a Made in USA headlamp with an easy-to-use and easy to find round knob for instant ON and OFF. It also allows you to vary the brightness quickly. And it is all-metal.
The base pricing is usually the same, but in my experience online isn’t eligible for the truck promos. So when I got the wide mouth adjustable wrenches they were about $30 cheaper on the truck vs online. Similar situation with the ratcheting wrenches, truck promo netted $50 off.
Rolex Submariner. I think I showed it in one of my earliest videos (what’s in my man purse), but haven’t gone in depth with it. Was fortunate enough to be able to purchase it at retail 5 years ago. Have worn it everyday since.
Great video. However you got lucky. In my experience more than half the snap-on dealers are arrogant idiots. Some are great but most feel they are doing you a favor. Matco , and cornwell have always had great dealers. All are still salesman but only snap-on is snobby.
I could see that, but to your point I feel like I got lucky from day one. Matt (my dealer) has always been super cordial and helpful (I assume me paying cash each time doesn’t hurt). I haven’t had a chance to hop onto any other tool truck brands…yet, but never say never!
It’s your money and if it makes you happy go for it. However unless you are wealthy I don’t see the logic of buying SO unless you’re wrenching hard daily or almost daily in a professional setting. Otherwise SO is just not worth the $ for the occasional/casual user.
My snappy comes every other week to my job,i e bought many snapon tools over the years, and if you break the screwdrivers they will put a new shaft in it
Quit while your ahead. Next thing you know youll owe 6k and be paying $300 a month. Ask me how i know 😂🤦♂️im a DIY guy too and i totally get where your coming from. Every time i go out and see my toolbox it puts a smile on my face. Whenever i go to grab a tool..it puts a smile on my face and i genuinely enjoy using my tools. I do all the work on my vehicles so i do use them alot. 95% are snap on. Majority of it i bought used but in new condition for cheap. My 40 inch snap on roll cab with topchest, side cabinet and side tray i paid around 2k or so.
Ha! I hear that. Glad to hear your toys make you smile, that’s the goal! I bought a 74” (72?) Husky toolbox last year from Home Depot. It has generally served me well, but getting it was a hassle and there a few things I really don’t like about it. Perhaps when all is said and done, a Snap On box (to your point, used ones are affordable) is the final boss for this new “addiction”. Thanks for watching, cheers.
Your Snap On journey is an interesting one. I have been building a DIY shed that... I think is pretty impressive. All my neighbors say so because I refurbish, restore and repair mostly tools especially antiques. I have a LOT of Harbor Freight and I think I would like to migrate like you.
Restoring old tools is a great time, I’ve got a few Shorts restoring some stuff. I’d like to do more, just need to find it. As for migrating to snap on, do whatever makes you happy! I find them a joy to use and appreciate that I’m building a box of tools that will outlive me, and the folks that use the, someday will hopefully be as proud of them as I am. First two tools I’d recommend to someone getting into snap on would be the ratcheting screwdriver, and the LN47ACF 6” pliers.
Im pretty certain that you misspoke when saying you work mostly with 3/4" sockets/ratchets. Of course, I assume you meant 3/8" unless you're working heavy duty machinery.
I visited my local Toyota dealer and they told me when then Snap-On truck comes by their maintenance garage. I bought a Talon plier & slipped the dealer $25 cash for the promo "Snap On shaving razor". That will probably be the last time that I purchase anything from Snap On. Way too costly for my DIY needs.
Out of all the screwdrivers I’ve had, SnapOn is my favorite. The only thing I didn’t like when I first got them was they didn’t come magnified. Easy fix lol
That's weird that they wouldn't give you a name or number. I buy a ton of stuff and they always recommend me to a truck. I prefer HO because they have your records vs they don't have access to trucks. You lose a dealer for whatever reason, and the whole search for a good dealer starts over.
It very well may have been one of those “right representative, right time” situations, and if the dealership thing hadn’t worked out I would’ve called back. Agreed re: losing a dealer, definitely a risk. For now, I think it’s a risk worth taking (I have a video planned outlining why), but it’s valid. Curious, what does “HO” mean?
Best screw drivers in the game imo.. ratchets and wrenches imo but some would argue those two and they would be wrong.. dang brother you as a home owner use 3/4” The most you must be in a huge house 😂 just messing with you brother I know you mean 3/8
Still kicking myself for how many times I said 3/4 🤣. Agreed, best screwdrivers, ratchets and wrenches. To me, the quintessential Snap On stuff is the hand tools, and it’s hard to go wrong with them. Looking forward to adding to the collection over time!
Best tools in the world babbby. Ive got a decent "small" collection of snap on tools at my home box now and its just fun to collect and even better to have them when doing basic maintenance to my vehicles and i use the pocket pry bars all day at work, valve covers, front covers, some oil pans with the help of an 8 inch ory bar and they hold up good i even hit them with a 24oz hammer and use them as chisels some times lol
Snap on screwdriver copyd The Craftsman professional black and red with gold letters 100$ original price 800$-1000$ resale price and the made in China resale for double the original price Craftsman is the only brand that resales for more than original price and If you look up vintage snap on it's sad people don't collect them then look up Craftsman
This showed up in my feed. Nice video! I do the same before I buy something. Watch any video I can find on it and know more about it than the ones that made it before I buy it. If I can’t find a video about it, I make one.
I believe in long term when it comes to tools, those tools will last for a long time, also feel different from other tools. I own snap-on tools definitely well worth it. I don’t really care to much about the price cause I know what I’m getting in quality and longevity
As a former ase dealership tech well the right tool for the job is sooooo inportint snap on makes the best but I found other tool tks have great tools to
Lots of great tools out there today, no doubt! Probably the best time in history to be a tool buyer given the options + the ability find reviews of everything with ease
I have a 1/4, 3/8 and long 1/2 locking flex head with green comfort grips. Now I want the regular hard handle in 3/8 and 1/4 non flex head. I did get a set of Cornwell screwdrivers off a truck. They guy was at my work picking up a tool cart he had ordered. Pretty sweet screwdrivers. Green as well
Love that! Nice collection of ratchets, so far I prefer my hard handle 3/4 both in terms of aesthetic (baby blue), and feel in hand. Looking to add another hard handle 3/4 non flex head
lol, he sure did! Heading back to the truck this Friday to pick up a few more items so another unboxing is right around the corner! Thank you for the kind words.
Thanks for stopping by! Definitely requires some self control, but boy are they fun! IMO you can only get into real trouble if buying on snap on credit with long repayment plans.
Love seeing more avid enthusiasts of the green snap on tools! I got that screw driver set early on in the game and I have no regrets. Whether it be for DIY or for work (I personally use them for both) those tools last you forever. My great grandfather was a contractor and you know what we still have passed down from him? His snap on screw driver and it works just the same as the day he bought it. Awesome video, very engaging and as relatable as it gets, can't wait to see more videos from you!
Appreciate the kind words, Trent! Having grandpas tools is the best. I just “restored” some of my grandfathers tools (couple videos ago) and it was so rewarding. I showed him the tools last week (he’s nearly 90) and he was completely taken aback. I’m a sucker for nostalgia, but I can’t help it, it was a great experience for us both and I’ll take care of his tools the same way he did for the next 50 years
My sister lives across the street from a snap on dealer. She needed a nice little 1/4 inch impact I made the mistake of saying just go get one from the guy across the street. I think I almost got her a divorce haha. Milwaukee Makita or dewalt would have been much better in the case of a drill. Hand tools for sure a good investment
Ha, sorry to hear that! I stick with Milwaukee for all of my power tools, aiming Snap On for hand tools. Though, most of the videos suggest that the Snap On impact with the rocker trigger is pretty nice, so maybe she got a good buy after all!
I usually just get my brother in law to snatch me something off the truck. He is an airline mechanic. I will just look at the catalog and send him the link with part number.
lol they sure don’t want you to ask the price but I work too hard for my money to let them sucker me into some of there overpriced tools. Don’t get me wrong they make good stuff but it’s not all worth it.
Butane in the snap on torches and soldering irons is extremely important. If it's not triple filtered they really don't light or work you'll notice a big difference in heat / flame range
@@HeyDerFolks get the torch 400 skip right over the 100 and 300. The two smaller ones are junk, the 400 has a very stable flame and a huge range where as the others are are pretty weak. I'm always disappointed when I accidentally grab my 300.
You can get the good stuff from cigar stores at a reasonable price btw. I like the vector and the xikar brands. It's the same with good cigar lighters. Bad butane clogs them.
Man, I pass by the snap on truck in my area almost weekly and think about just dropping in all the time. Never been on, but would love to one day. I’m homeowner / trade adjacent (do a little tech work for a coffee company, so I have to do a little plumbing, electrical, and all sorts of random wrenching and screw driving), but not so much so that I’ve been able to justify getting any snap on tools yet. I also know if I get on a truck I’m gonna spend way more money than I meant to 😂
Eh, treat yourself! I hear you though, hard to wrap the mind around the price. I try and justify it by saying (mostly to my wife), “money comes and goes, these tools will be forever…,like our love”. She laughs and it seems to work. Worth a try!
How are is blue point snap on tools melted down and re made ? Overwhelming amount of blue point stuff is made in Taiwan/china so Shit my co worker paid 300 for one blue point regular combination wrench set Hot damn that’s a lot for Chinese
Good 👍 video l have been doing video on UA-cam channel for a long time you'r video is good for the people who truly believe in tool trucks most people don't really get it but that's OK I have a lot of snapon tools I have been tuning wrench 30 + years just know you will get some haters but don't let them get to you good stuff thanks
@@HeyDerFolks That makes a lot more sense. I am a heavy equipment technician and I don’t break out the 3/4 until stuff gets crazy. Lol. We have wheels that are torqued to 680 ft lbs. those deserve the 3/4.

Lol, I’m starting to realize that. I just bought the neck light and now I see they came out with a new version of it to go higher on your head. Crazy!
You can’t go wrong with SnapOn.
Congrats.
I did grin when you said 3/4” drive instead of 3/8.
I have a 3/4” drive SK and a Craftsman ratchet.
It’s not a happy time when they come out.
Ha, ya I realize now I made that mistake a few times. Won’t happen again!
That was pretty funny how he said “As a professional home owner”, and then throws out the 3/4. I was like, wait what?! 😂.
8:40 bro’s worried about how he’ll look asking for a price 💀💀 wtf
Eh, not really worried about how it’d look, but aiming to be respectful first time on the truck. I’m sure he wouldn’t have cared (pretty reasonable question to ask), but I had a directional understanding of the prices given my wishlist on the website so I was okay without having to ask.
12:52 The Surefire Maximus is a Made in USA headlamp with an easy-to-use and easy to find round knob for instant ON and OFF. It also allows you to vary the brightness quickly. And it is all-metal.
Was the pricing on the truck different than online? Trying to figure out if I should find a truck like you
The base pricing is usually the same, but in my experience online isn’t eligible for the truck promos. So when I got the wide mouth adjustable wrenches they were about $30 cheaper on the truck vs online. Similar situation with the ratcheting wrenches, truck promo netted $50 off.
I have the same screwdrivers I love them
🤝
I hate ratcheting screwdrivers. Whens the epic box showing up? ❤
2025, few other items on the list first
What’s the watch you have? I noticed it in your last video too but now I’m curious!!
When you're buying a tool that costs as much as your rent or mortgage payment asking the price is a no brainer
You’re right, I should have asked. Lesson learned!
It’s your money and if it makes you happy go for it. However unless you are wealthy I don’t see the logic of buying SO unless you’re wrenching hard daily or almost daily in a professional setting. Otherwise SO is just not worth the $ for the occasional/casual user.
I disagree, but appreciate your perspective!
Its nice using good tools. Simple as that. USA tools makes them special to me.
Snap on screw drivers wrenches and ratchets. Nothing else is worth the money
Pliers are pretty untouchable.
My snappy comes every other week to my job,i e bought many snapon tools over the years, and if you break the screwdrivers they will put a new shaft in it
3/4 inch for a home owner? Do you mean 3/8ths?
Yes I meant to say 3/8
Keep those pliers well oiled and even throw a desiccant pack in wherever you’re keeping them. They prone to rusting.
Will do!
I feel you bro last week was my first week on snap on and matco
Hell yeah! How’d it go?
It was awesome it’s weird watching videos and then going on an actual truck
Yep, meant 3/8
Why is it such a secret where the truck goes? Very annoying. I met mine at the Deere dealer, no idea where else he goes.
Agreed, not sure why it’s top secret
I visited my local Toyota dealer and they told me when then Snap-On truck comes by their maintenance garage.
I bought a Talon plier & slipped the dealer $25 cash for the promo "Snap On shaving razor".
That will probably be the last time that I purchase anything from Snap On. Way too costly for my DIY needs.
Fair enough, buy what you like. How’s the razor 👀
great video, i like the charisma!
Thank you!
Out of all the screwdrivers I’ve had, SnapOn is my favorite. The only thing I didn’t like when I first got them was they didn’t come magnified.
Easy fix lol
Sure is! I’ve loved using them so far, and am picking up a ratcheting set next Friday. Can’t wait!
Best screw drivers in the game imo.. ratchets and wrenches imo but some would argue those two and they would be wrong.. dang brother you as a home owner use 3/4”
The most you must be in a huge house 😂 just messing with you brother I know you mean 3/8
Still kicking myself for how many times I said 3/4 🤣. Agreed, best screwdrivers, ratchets and wrenches. To me, the quintessential Snap On stuff is the hand tools, and it’s hard to go wrong with them. Looking forward to adding to the collection over time!
edc'ing a pry bar lmao
Is that atypical? 🤔
Sometimes…duty calls, and I agree, they’re fun to collect and use! I think Snap On knows that, hence all the colors.
It never ends. I am always buying from them. I do electric work and mechanic work as well as using the Veto bags for they are awesome
Can’t go wrong with that combo! What are your favorite snap ons?
Snap on screwdriver copyd The Craftsman professional black and red with gold letters 100$ original price 800$-1000$ resale price and the made in China resale for double the original price Craftsman is the only brand that resales for more than original price and If you look up vintage snap on it's sad people don't collect them then look up Craftsman
Harder for a true collectors market to develop when they’re sold in the quantities they are. Craftsman is a finite supply at this points
This showed up in my feed. Nice video!
I do the same before I buy something. Watch any video I can find on it and know more about it than the ones that made it before I buy it. If I can’t find a video about it, I make one.
Love that strategy! All the worlds information is available at our fingertips, may as well make use of it
I believe in long term when it comes to tools, those tools will last for a long time, also feel different from other tools. I own snap-on tools definitely well worth it. I don’t really care to much about the price cause I know what I’m getting in quality and longevity
Agreed, long term they’re tough to beat, even at the upfront prices and they’ll last a couple lifetimes with proper care
I bought a 30” heavy duty prybar. With a green handle. I plan to pry a lot of cement lids at work. Hope they hold up or I’ll be warranting a bent tip
Let me know how it holds up!
The Snap On Guy buttered you up good, keep the Videos coming, It was great and well presented!
lol, he sure did! Heading back to the truck this Friday to pick up a few more items so another unboxing is right around the corner! Thank you for the kind words.
First time running across your channel, I have never been on a Snap On truck and even though I want to not sure if I can control myself.
@@HeyDerFolks she loves it, but man her husband was not pleased about the price. Great video on the tools
I usually just get my brother in law to snatch me something off the truck. He is an airline mechanic. I will just look at the catalog and send him the link with part number.
That’s the move. Unfortunately I have no such person, so I’ll have to wrestle with temptation every time I step on the damn thing 😂
@@HeyDerFolks I know that’s right
lol they sure don’t want you to ask the price but I work too hard for my money to let them sucker me into some of there overpriced tools. Don’t get me wrong they make good stuff but it’s not all worth it.
Cringe af
🤝
3/8" ratchets. 3/4" is large equipment.
Real facepalm moment for me, didn’t realize i said 3/4 until the comments started rolling in 🫠
@@HeyDerFolks at first I thought you meant up to 3/4 like a socket size than I was like oh he's talking drive size he must be compensating lol
Ive got alot of diferent color handle snapon tools
Nice! Which is your favorite?
Nice
Butane in the snap on torches and soldering irons is extremely important. If it's not triple filtered they really don't light or work you'll notice a big difference in heat / flame range
Happy that I have it now. One of their butane torches is likely to be in the next round of purchases.
Good to know!
400 it is!
I also know if I get on a truck I’m gonna spend way more money than I meant to 😂
I’ll tell you with complete honesty, if you find yourself using a ratchet often there is none finer than a snap on ratchet
Eh, treat yourself! I hear you though, hard to wrap the mind around the price. I try and justify it by saying (mostly to my wife), “money comes and goes, these tools will be forever…,like our love”. She laughs and it seems to work. Worth a try!
Agreed!
Seams like a nice guy .great video.
Thank you!
Congrats on hitting 1k followers. 👍
Thank you, Ryan!
You want the best you pay the best😎
🗣️
How are is blue point snap on tools melted down and re made ? Overwhelming amount of blue point stuff is made in Taiwan/china so
Shit my co worker paid 300 for one blue point regular combination wrench set
Hot damn that’s a lot for Chinese
a fool and his money are easily parted
Profound!
Love the passion man
🤝
great video
Thank you!
“Professional home owner”
Another one of my favorite channels….for the most part (assuming that’s what you’re referencing)
I wish I didn’t buy snap on screwdrivers. They’re great but if I could do it again I’d get Tekton.
How come?
I’m about to buy an Epiq for my house. I have a problem. My Heritage Series is too small. I just got a new dealer and she’s awesome
Ha, that’s awesome. I’ve been spending more time than I should looking at Epiq boxes on their website…Someday!
@@HeyDerFolks I got the Mrs to let me buy it so I gotta order it before she changes her mind LOL
Why do diyers think tool makes a trade traides make a trade not tools
Do they think that?
Good 👍 video l have been doing video on UA-cam channel for a long time you'r video is good for the people who truly believe in tool trucks most people don't really get it but that's OK I have a lot of snapon tools I have been tuning wrench 30 + years just know you will get some haters but don't let them get to you good stuff thanks
Appreciate the kind words, Russ. 30 years. Impressive!
Nothing more enjoyable than working with quality tools
Couldn’t agree more! Had a chance to use the electronic screwdrivers tonight, and pulling them out of the foam was a real treat!
3/4”?? What are you doing at your house?
3/8*
@@HeyDerFolks That makes a lot more sense. I am a heavy equipment technician and I don’t break out the 3/4 until stuff gets crazy. Lol. We have wheels that are torqued to 680 ft lbs. those deserve the 3/4.
Heavy duty professional homeowner stuff. What else 🤷🤷
@@robertcasey3528 idk why I didn’t think of that. Lol.
Did the set come with any Robertson screwdrivers? 🪛
It did not. Historically my Robertson use case has been the Kreg pocket hole screws and I have some impact bits for that. Though now that you mention it….to the wishlist we go 🤣
