Just saw this today and I’m soooo Blown away. It’s unlike anything I expected. I thought this genre was old and done since most 80s movies like Terminator and Robocop which gets rebooted just fail but put an amazing director and make it personal and put great actors, scripts and budget and you’ve got amazing exciting movies
One of the CGI tricks you seemed to have missed is they used computers to blend the face of the little girl with ATJ’s face. At the beginning the character was 70% girl and 30% ATJ. Throughout the film the “dial” was turned until at the end the character had grown so that 70% was now ATJ and only 30% of the girls face was left.
My favorite part of the story is the fact that Furiosa just nonchalantly escapes each anarchy within every chapter. She knew that she was in control of her destiny. So, she had no worries as she learned and grew. Though the film is about her, she didn't need plot armor to survive each challenge. Furiosa just had a natural instinct to overcome obstacles, and this theme is refreshing to the franchise.
LmAo guys her plot armor is she’s in the next movie 😂 obviously She was gonna survive until the end of mad max fury road… that said I really enjoyed the movie
@@ruffryder1208 Okay. It's a prequel. So, that means that this LATEST installment does not occur chronologically. There is no "next film." With that said, this installment is meant to explain why Furiosa does not need plot armor in the Mad Max storyline since Mad Max is the main character in this universe and would have plot armor because of that fact... Hence the subtitle "A Mad Max Saga."
@@mattgriffinreal lmao bro the movie literally ends at the start of fury road obviously she was gonna make it till the end of this prequel to get to the movie that already happened 10 years ago 💀
@@ruffryder1208 Let's try this one more time... We already know that Furiosa is in Mad Max Fury Road. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is a prequel that serves as an origin story. We also already know that Furiosa survives Fury Road at the end. Now we know why she was so skilled in Fury Road. Therefore, she does not need plot armor if the creators plan to include her in an installment AFTER Fury Road. Plot armor is a device that writers use to protect characters from OUTSIDE the universe through deus ex machina. That's my point. She doesn't need a deus ex machina.
My wife and I absolutely loved Furiosa , as massive fans of Fury road this movie fleshed out fury road so much , we actually came home from the movie and watched fury road after and it was awesome , reminded me of watching rogue one prior to episode 4. I think the more complexity of the movie probably made it a lot harder to maintain such a crazy limited CG use like in Fury road , one movie was 99% stunts on a road while the other had so much more story , more big sets and locations to actually create and that can’t be easy out in the desert while also making a ton of functional cars stunt teams etc, I wasn’t put off by the CG I think it looked fine , wasn’t jarring it was clear they worked with that they had to work with it’s not like fury road was a huge money win.
Yea after watching Furiosa I rewatched Fury Road and while I still love Fury Road I feel Furiosa is the better movie because the dialogue helps drive the story and get you more invested in the story whereas in Fury Road it just feels like one big adrenaline rush which isn't necessarily a bad thing considering how mad the Mad Max series is but for me I just like Furiosa more.
Max does show up in Furiosa- i dont know if you mentioned it. He's watching her walk away after she 127 hours herself. He's got the long hair and everything. My theory is any prequel will also include that shot.
@@IronTigerI think he helped ensure she doesn’t die, but I don’t think he brought her to the citadel. Maybe he brought her some water and a blanket and kept moving
Right. It was not made clear at all. It is possible he dragged her (someone DID and is not shown), but considering other films, he would have carried her, not dragged her, and certainly would not have left her in the maggot farm hole she ended up in. Instead, it is a weak Easter egg for Max fans, pointless to the plot.
@@RicardoMarlowFlamenco Why not the maggot farm hole? Maggots have long been (and are currently) used to help with amputation healing. (Not to imply that it was definitely Max that dropped her off there, but that location was the best sport for her ultimate survival)
Best movie in the franchise imo. Great prequel to the very linear Fury Road. Wow. There was a time where it felt a bit long and the Furiosa's vengeance at the end felt a bit flat or off but it was good. Like how did she get back to the Citadel with or without him? No one was driving more than a mile without being swarmed by raiders. 😅😅 9/10 movie though. Looked great.
I’d still put Road Warrior as my number one but on first watch, I would probably put this above Fury Road. I like the first half being her origin but also an origin for Dementus. Hemsworth is so good in it.
I just watched this movie, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The film is packed with exhilarating action sequences that are exceptionally well choreographed. From start to finish, the action is relentless and keeps you on the edge of your seat. What really stood out for me was the solid story that perfectly complements the high-octane action. Also the movie has amazing visuals. The plot is engaging and well-developed, providing a strong foundation for the impressive visuals and stunts. In comparison to the last installment, this movie is a significant improvement in every aspect. The narrative is tighter, the characters are more fleshed out, and the action scenes are more spectacular. Overall, I believe this is one of the best movies to come out this year, right up there with Dune 2. If you're a fan of action-packed films with a compelling story, this is a must-watch!
One thing I love to do coming out of a theater is looking at youtube movie reviews for details I missed and peoples opinions about the movie. My first thoughts this time is ‘they better say this one is good’. Because it is.
half life is also a reference to the nuclear war. the fall out, mentioned in beyond thunderdome, renders the area radioactive for a time, measured in the radioactive halflife of the fallout
Watched this awesome movie 3 days ago. Wish to see more of the wasteland 40-day war though. Dementus got grey hair and ended up with just a handful of warriors.
When Furiosa is bleeding out and stumbling through the desert whilst Max is watching her. I can't help but think that shot of her stumbling away from the camera is a Fallout 1 reference. More precisely, the end cutscene of the Chosen One walking away from the vault. The two scenes are very similar.
Honestly the effects are absolutely worse compared to ten years ago and it’s due entirely to what you said at the end, there is just too much demand and not enough staff
I like the idea that Mad Max the actual character is just a fixed entity that just exists in this universe. He's more of a folk hero than a real solo drifter guy. The people know of stories told about him, but nobody really knows if mad max is even real
Just watched an interview with Miller where he said it wasn't intentional at all, but once people pointed it out, he couldn't unsee it and believes it was subconscious on his part that he was drawn to Thom for that reason 😊

Furiosa is my favorite movie from Mad Max saga, one of the best movies ever and I would give it a rating in 9-10/10 range. It is something we are missing in recent cinema. The quality of story, editing, cinematography, acting. The story itself is very mature, ask many questions, pictures perfectly main characters. I can speak for hours how good Furiosa is.

All the green screens , all the computer animated war boys in wide shots, all the talking - I just never felt gripped and engaged. as a hypothetical example, what's more exciting to see on film - a CGi tank with five flamethrower turrets that spins around and shoots CGI fire everywhere, or a guy on the back of a real car shooting one real plume of fire into another real stunt car? that said , that's just me- if Furiosa was a good show for where you're coming from, I'm glad love your work Paul , love the channel.

The film starts 15 years before FR as revealed by Furiosa when she corners Dementus. The epilogue thus happens 4 years later due to the 7000 night away from home sentence in FR making her in her early 30s then.
His Furi-osa, not Furi-osar got me...and when he says "factor takes" I hear "Facta-tanks" which makes me have bacta-tank flashbacks from Book of Boba Fett 😅 STOP TRIGGERING ME PAUL!
You're saying a lot of things wrong. They weren't tasked with taking back gas town. They went to fill the tanks with bullets at bullet town, and bullet town had been taken over. They were not aware of it. She did not masqarade as a war boy.
She was already one of the crew who built the war rig. Easy to explain. It's not like they do rollcall and sound the alarm when a mechanic isn't at their station. She could just say her boss told her to come on the mission. He died, so there's no way for them to know any better.
The Storyman gives her priceless advice as a kid, make yourself irreplaceable I think was the line. Do that and Dementus will take care of you. She understands that doesn’t just apply to Dementus but all warlords. Immortan Joe doesn’t have time to care how the sausage is made. Jack and Furiosa are the best at the job and that’s what he cares about.
Ditto! This was a huge plothole to me. They could've brought it up in a really brief conversation somehow and not just left a gaping hole. I also found it unbelievable that she's the only woman among all these men, even sleeping beside them, and she never had to fight off unsolicited advances. Hugely unrealistic. Am I missing something? This is the first MM movie I've seen.
@@BrookePalmer Only time any of them were tipped off was when her cap flew away during the War Rig ambush and Jack saw her 🫨😳 She stayed in disguise and they even mentioned she was a mute, just nobody bothered her because she got the job done. That was from the Storyman’s advice about being useful to warlords.
If they're making MM world spin-offs, then I could go for a Great Northern Tribe "sequel." We get to see the great grandson of the Feral Kid take up the metal boomerang, fight off the evil interlocutors, and reclaim his place as leader....
only because you're directly comparing it to Fury Road, which i know is almost impossible not to do. I think that's part of the reason they didn't emphasize it like they did in Fury Road. Also, they put the sounds of the engines and action at the front. its one of the loudest, most visceral sounding movies i've ever seen and i really like that
The music is used as more of a sound effect than a soundtrack here. Think about the War Rig chase with the rogue paratroop raiders. The drums just rise and rise and rise until the crescendo of the scene where everything is deafening mayhem and it all merges perfectly.
I'd be down to see weaver cameo as an older furious if they ever decide to move the timeline that significantly into the future of these characters. Weaver, Hamilton, and Theron are definitely among the best female action actors I've seen in my lifetime!
Naaah, Theron can do older Furiosa. Perfect thing would be Mad Max Rhe Wasteland with Tom Hardy and then one more Imperator Furiosa with Charlize Theron
At the start the child furiosa kills her kinapper by putting the bone knecklace in the wheel of the bike. She later in fury road uses a similar technique killing immortan joe
The max shot is arguably one of my favorite scenes from the film! Hopefully 🤞 it performs well so we get the prequel story about Max saving the mother and daughter from his visions in “Fury Road”
didnt love that they literally ended the movie with the beginning of fury road. the continuity seems odd - same thoughts on the VFX/CGI - took me out of it sometimes compared to fury road did not
Just something I noticed , when Furiosa escapes and goes back the organic mechanic, not only is driving a V8 var plus h3 I wearing broad shoulder pads like in the original mad max posters ( one more Easter, egg, agree?) Sure there are tens more, next watch I will complete the list
I loved Fury Road but I actually like Furiosa a little better. Fury road was INSANE over the top and PERFECT "I'M BACK" by the franchise, but Furiosa had a better story line. Listen they both are great IMHO on a rainy weekend you could literally binge them back to back pretty seamless, when the next one comes out you could binge them like the Godfather trilogy. MY ONLY QUESTION IS WHO IS THE KID IN THE BACK WITH THE CABBAGE AND SQUASH ??? I know I am missing something stupid and obvious, but I gotta know!
He went viral after his mum uploaded a video of him crying after school because he was being bullied. George Miller saw it and was so moved he offered him a part in the film

9:49 Just started playing it after I saw Furiosa. No need for a remaster, it's still looking awesome.
Best review ive seen. Fury Road and Furiosa are very different movies and its a good thing.
before I even watch the review..I loved this movie..awesome
Absolutely loved this movie.
Paul dropped a video? Oh what a day! What a LOVELY DAY!!!!
Haha thank you
7:25 I think its more like max sold the body to the maggot farmers for supplies
It's SOOOOOO good. I've been twice already and want to go again!!!
Great film. 👍🏽 definitely not mediocre!
No more prequels. Just 3 more Mad Max movies..
Watching this twice at the cinema tomorrow. Dolby Cinema then IMAX with Laser GT on the UK’s widest screen. 😎
Can’t wait…
Thank you Paul.
Hope you enjoy it mate
I have broken the tenet movie as a physics major i understand most but the neil death and his mutiple versions keep me up at night
I knew Dementus was no joke when he held that HELL circle for half a day 😐 Chris ate every scene 🙌🏿
You're saying a lot of things wrong. They weren't tasked with taking back gas town. They went to fill the tanks with bullets at bullet town, and bullet town had been taken over. They were not aware of it. She did not masqarade as a war boy.
Need a war boy prequel
Just watched Furiousa. Love being back in George Miller's post-apocalyptic world. Definitely worth seeing on the big screen.
the only part i find weird when Furiosa and Pretorian jack came back to Immortan Joe…no one is questioning how Furiosa ended up up with Jack
I thought the same, sloppy writing. You'd think that Immortan Joe would make a huge stink about the disappearance of Furiosa.
Both Movies are definitely a pair and to be enjoyed together. I immediately rewatched Fury Road right after Furiosa ended. Just had to.
Who’d ever think that a flick with no Max but with a forehead smeared with black shoe polish wouldn’t produce a monster summer action hit?
The movie is great
@@estefaniaboujon6830 It is good, but it wasn’t much of a box office. In fairness, the same happened to the latest Kong and Fall Guy too, both good
Furisoa was casted out?
No she wasn't, she was abducted
Cast out implies that the leaders of the Green place thrown her out, which wasn't the case.
Only thing that felt odd was the lack of music
only because you're directly comparing it to Fury Road, which i know is almost impossible not to do.
The drums just rise and rise and rise until the crescendo of the scene where everything is deafening mayhem and it all merges perfectly.
didnt notice, must have been the great film, roaring engines, and cries of battle
Timelines matter less when it's a narration from a History Man I imagine.
9:36 PLEASE PRESS TRIANGLE
watched this today… soooo good. great review
10:43 Curiosa eyyy having that
I’m glad Theron was Furiosa instead of Weaver since she’s Ellen Ripley. Those two and obv Sarah Connor the most badass female characters ever
I like when you guys shout out screen crush and visa versa
Like 75 percent of the channels I watch are sponsored by FACTOR - makes a lot more sense knowing it’s a HelloFresh rebrand
Excellent fit in the universe. Fleshed out a LOT of history.
At the start the child furiosa kills her kinapper by putting the bone knecklace in the wheel of the bike. She later in fury road uses a similar technique killing immortan joe
"This is my boomstick!!"
Is spoilers killing the movie theater industry? Probably... but no way of keeping people from doing it. Keep it up Definition!
i prefer to see the film b4 i view the spoilers. My rule of thumb is if movie reviewers rate it highly then its a shit movie.
My dad bought the little bird sculpture that’s in the thumbnail, he has it in his jeep
@theherstorychannel THANK YOU!
I still don't get why the cabbage and squash, but I'm not going to try and get into miller's brain lol
The VFX definitely where off in some scenes like Dementia's dogs always looked strange
Did you see HOPE AND GLORY - A Mad Max Fan Film? 275 filmmakers from 5 continents created one of the biggest fan films of all time: with real stunts, a real orchestra and most importantly, real heart.
Spiderhead. Bad Times at the El Royale. Chris Hemsworth has played a villain before, and he never misses. Why do people seem to forget that? lol.
You jump all over and are so hard to make sense out of. If someone doesn’t already know the plot and watched the movies you would give them an aneurysm.
My biggest grip is the depiction of the green place as that's not where they drove through on fury road.
