My mom is still around. I lost my dad before my first birthday. I feel for you losing your mother. It’s both sad and a blessing I was so young I don’t know what it’s like to miss a parent.
I’m the same and lost my mom when I was younger too and the Flash has always resonated with me because of that and like you said I would totally try but in the end Barry didn’t learn his lesson about messing with the timeline and this was so far from the animated movie that they should of used and the baby sequence or the first 10 minutes was 🤦♂️ like wth but after the intro it got better and loved Keaton and supergirl but it just failed on many levels and sadly I was hoping for a lot more from my childhood hero. 5/10 for me and that’s saying a lot. Wish they would of let Zack finish his vision cause I know we would of been given what fans like myself who grew up reading the comics and dreaming of what a Flash movie should be expected. Did enjoy the mom and flash interaction. Hit me hard but that ending and the extra credit seen. Seriously wth 🤦♂️ just my opinion but come on WB just stop already. I went to the movie with zero expectations and it turned out to be amazing. Movie ws fun and fast paced and cameos were fun to watch. I really enjoyed it
@RobertK1993 He was though, they literally showed it in the film. The guy you replied to just stated that yet you argue with it, despite not seeing the film.
He's in it for a good chunk of the movie. But he probably didn't need to be because having his batman in there doesn't really add too much other than fan service.
While I loved Michael Keaton in this movie, I really liked how Flashpoint’s Batman was Thomas Wayne, and how he was super brutal and didn’t mind killing criminals. It really set the tone for the new reality, and really hit us in the face with just how different this new reality was.
@@javaughndouglas3641 Dude, it's definitely way darker than BvS Batman, he didn't bother pulling back punches and stuff, but didn't outright go for the kill, Thomas Wayne throws HQ off a building, his main weapon is a pistol, most of Gotham's villains are dead and funnily enough, he has a casino.
@@excalibursonic32 you’re probably referencing BvS’s Batman I assume…. BvS’s Batman’s approach was that he didn’t really care if there was collateral damage…like him having machine guns on his car. That was more for other vehicles, but if he happens to kill people while taking out a car, then so be it. Thomas Wayne in Flashpoint was willing to torture and straight up throw people off the roof. Not the same thing. Flashpoint’s Batman was far more brutal.
@@javaughndouglas3641 the thing is, Flashpoint is a completely different universe. It didn’t work in the DCEU in BvS because it was completely against what our Batman fought for. The reason why it WOULD work in this scenario is precisely because we know it’s a different universe with different people and different rules. The brutality is the point, to really drive home that this is a different universe and this isn’t our Batman.
It’s probably because Joshua Williamson’s Flash run was where I started reading comics but I loved the places he took Barry during it. The stand out arcs for me were Lightning Strikes Twice, Running Scared, Perfect Storm, Flash War, The Flash Age, and Finish Line
Williamson’s Flash run was pretty good but Forces Quest and the year of The Villain arc were both genuinely terrible. Not to mention how tied into Heroes In Crisis it was and how that character assassinated Wally’s Character pretty hard
The movie was pretty good for me! All the moments between Barry and his mom were the thing that made the movie great for me, and the action was meaningful all the way through, even during the end fight. Yes, it was in an open desert, but that didn't matter. Everything worked there. This version of Kara brought a lot too, and I liked her development.
The general impression I've gotten from The Flash is that it's a fun time with a lot of good material in-between all the iffy moments, but MAN do you wish someone other than Ezra Miller was starring in it.
I give it a 4 out of 5. Highly entertaining. The comedy was a bit out there but I didn't think it took away from the story that much. I got to say the last "Batman" that appeared had me rolling in my seat. LOL!
Because Barry just had to fuck with the timeline again, I had a feeling something was up, so seeing that Batman was worth the pay off and also pretty hilarious.
I liked how they played with the idea of the multiverse with a callback to a casting decision in popular movie that deals with the same concept. Movie was definitely a good time!
My favorite flash story ever written was the return of Barry Allen, because you finally got to see the torch get passed and the best character development I’ve seen from a secondary character who was promoted to the main character. If you’ve never read it you are missing out on a great story
She literally had no emotions for most of the film And at the end she just shouted at zod and angrily attacked him So what part of her acting appealed to u ?
@@abhishekkrishna8542Okay you can say the same for Michael Keaton’s batman in this film if you want to downsize a performance. Her performance was great for a small role she had.
The crazy thing is ( The Flash movie ) showed us you could take Michael Keaton today and make a whole Batman movie with him and people would go see it.
Yup, it was far from perfect but atleast Barry had an actual character arch. Like, Bruce in BvS does not have a character arch. He just wants to kill Superman and then changes his mind on the fly. Barry goes from a manchild to a man, takes responsibility for his actions and takes charge in pushing the time back into place.
It's great to see horror directors doing well in the superhero genre. Maybe DC should try hire horror directors more often to direct a DC movie. Mike Flanagan seems to be like an interesting choice
I watched it last night at a screening and really enjoyed it. The CGI decisions were a little weird at some points but as a whole it was a pretty solid movie. Sasha’s Calle absolutely killed it as Supergirl. If they don’t bring the character into the new films they need to cast her in another role. Ezra Miller has always found himself in decent films but I was never really into his acting. He surprised me this time around. Bouncing the two Barry’s off each was done incredibly well. And Keaton…god it was nice seeing him again. He had a lot more scenes than expected and I’ll leave it at that.
This was probably one of the best DC movies. It was so funny. It's a shame many people are not watching it. DC really need help with their internal production crew
@@PeachesandCream225 Not just too MANY jokes, but really low QUALITY jokes. I made it about 15min in, got through the kvetching with Alfred and the "sure there are babies but CANDY MACHINE" and then turned it off with extreme prejudice at the Golden Lasso scene, and came back here to confirm my memory that Jeremy had actually said this one was a good time. So far it feels like it was written by a 12yo.
It's crazy how quickly people seem to have forgotten about Ezra's crime spree. Anyway I'm not gonna tell people they can't watch the movie or anything but still wild how quickly people forgot about it.
Loved the movie and found it almost perfect. In fact I love the Guardians of the Galaxy movies for their comedy but this one was even funnier. My adult kids, i'm 60, had to catch me as I was falling out of my chair during the hospital "baby shower" scene. I've seen all the hero movies including many foreign ones going back to Christopher Reeves Supes movies and this is now at the top of my list along with End Game and ahead of The Dark Knight by a very thin margin.
I saw this movie 3 weeks ago, and then again last night. 1st screening was “unfinished”. The showing last night was full and I was sad to see a lot of the shotty CGI was still present. I also thought about that “I’m Batman” scene. However, on a second watching it’s the younger Barry that is shocked. This is his first time seeing a full on super hero in his reality. OG Barry just smiles.
I watched it also early and it was amazing 35 years later and Michael Keaton is still the best Batman can't believe jeremy didn't mentioned the flash's moves in the final battle i though those moves were awesome just like in the comics, you feel like the last words that Batman tells barry are for him and also the fans
Hella impressed bc everyone made it seem to be much worse than it really was, one of the best DCEU movies and in terms of recent superhero movies in general def one of the better ones
I think the flash tv show really helped this movie since everyone who’s seen the show doesn’t really need the origin story we had already spent 9 years watching a barry allen be the flash and grow as the flash. So a good chunk of the audience already has the origin therefore this movie can just jump straight into it.
@@MisterE1976 true tbh just watching season 1 and 2 is enough to know most of the important stuff about the flash anyways. The show really peaked then and after that declined.
I appreciate this review soooo much. Because it's a review of just the movie, and it's merits, nothing about controversy or the backlash. Jeremy just graded the movie itself. That's why I love this channel and why he's my favorite movie reviewer. Not because I always agree with his take but because his take is always honest and direct and actually about the movie. Keep doing you Jeremy, and I'll keep watching.
Spot on Jeremy. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this film & how engaging the Barry Allen dynamic was! I had very low expectations - ( preparing to hate watch ) - instead I walked away smiling at the whole experience! I felt they did a terrific job wrapping up this DC timeline.
I really enjoyed this movie! Lots of great action, an over the top sci-fi plot that was fun to see unfold, lots of genuinely funny moments and concepts, solid acting, and some very touching emotional stakes. I didn’t mind the CG, it sort of felt intentional, even if it looked weird. The cameos, although sort of fun to see, were hardly what I would call cameos and we’d rather ham fisted. I would have preferred to see sneakier cameos from, well, living actors, like the one at the end! I feel like seeing Grant Gustin and Lynda Carter would have been preferable. But regardless, I had a great time!
The movie was fckin atrocious you people just watch movies for action & explosions. The storyline was garbage, the character development was bad & absolutely no origin to who Barry is & his potential. Bad movie.
*Spoiler* Couldn't agree more. When I saw the CGI faces of the babies and then of the people during the time force, I immediately thought there has to be a reason and I think by the end with the alternate universes colliding I came to think it was because of that. Still a weird choice but I guess it'd take too much time and money especially after the big delay.
And it’s beyond me too. But yet Jonathan Majors and Tenoch Huerta and Henry Cavill getting cancelled the way they have is definitely beyond me as well.

Been waiting for your review. Always curious to see yours and Chris Stuckman’s take on films. Like the only two fair and unbiased reviewers on UA-cam! Excellent video, great review, keep up the solid work!
Literally every review is biased & what’s “fair” is subjective, if some people can’t help but dislike Ezra’s presence & don’t include that in their review, it’s not an honest review
@therotten6152 You’re twisting what I’m saying, I’ve read nearly every review. Yes, a good amount of them mention “the Ezra factor” as part of their criticism, if that made them unable to identify or empathize with his character & it takes away from the film, that’s their opinion & that’s fair enough to acknowledge, Ezra’s just playing themselves & not everyone will like their character. Most negative reviews, whether they mention it or not, have completely valid criticisms of their own. Everyone is bias to a degree, they will have their own opinion, & they should express it honestly, that’s my point
@@Assassin.9958 True, fairness is subjective, I just assumed the definition of “biased” was more obvious. I’ll give an example of a biased review I’ve seen recently: there’s a reviewer who has his entire room filled with SpiderMan and Marvel Funko pops and posters, he knit picked The Flash (excluding Ezra’s personal drama) but somehow oversaw the apparent flaws of SpiderMan No Way Home and gave that film a 10 out of 10. Unfortunately there’s a lot of that on UA-cam. Jeremy Jahns and Stuckman seem to be two reviewers who have these non-biased takes on films, but of course that’s my opinion, you may feel differently. With that said, if you choose not to watch this film because you dislike Ezra, that makes all the sense in the world. What wouldn’t make sense is if you hated Ezra then went to watch this film.
Bens batman is honestly perfect idk how I felt about the suit but man I wish we could get more of him and it’s weird too this DCEU has been around for 19 years yet we really don’t have very much of it
Love the message. Reverse flash trying to save everyone, not giving up, stubborn. But it just never enough. No matter how many times he went back he can’t save them and has to learn to let go. I would be like reverse flash.
Yeah same I would go insane too if I have that powers and want to make everything exactly the way I wanted. I thought it really fits the point of the movie, sometimes you just have to let go
So, you dont care about what Ezra did to people? You want to support someone and a company who will keep an pyshco person that hurts others on a movie? Got it....this world is F'd smh i hate this world...
@@DomesticAnimodude did you see the deleted scene where young berry tries on Bruce's Samarai armor. It's a really good movie and when Zod stabee Supergirl it was kinda hot
This film was… surprisingly good. I still prefer Grant Gustin’s costume more -this one always looked really weird. But given the insane production history of this film, turning out fun at all was a minor miracle.
I was hyped when I saw nicolas cage as superman. I thought the movie had some odd pacing, and some forced jokes, but I 100% agree with you: I was hoping Barry Allen would say "why would we get nuts?" But without addressing that, it felt forced and acted like the audience was stupid to not know where that reference was from. Plus, it was in all the trailers.
It make sense he is fighting kryptonian army with supergirl and speedster, he have not fight any superhuman before, nuts line made sense "I am batman" line nope
The current Flash run by Jeremy Adams is a pretty great book and has garnered a ton of good will from fans of the Flash. It stars Wally West and his family. The First arc is basically a riff on Quantum Leap.
And it just ended this month, Si Spurrier is doing the new series. Jeremy Adams did a phenomenal job and he's taking over Green Lantern now and I am very excited for it
The flash by Jeremy Adams is an amazing run. You got the time he teams up with an intergalactic wrestler, he partakes in a war with speedster aliens that lasts a minute but to them it's a whole week, a wacky fourth wall breaking issue where the reader has to interact with the comic to get flash through the story, and so many other cool things. Plus his name is Jeremy so you have to support another Jeremy, Jeremy.
I've been doing all I can to avoid spoilers, so thanks for not including them in this review. I plan on seeing this when it comes out on Friday; I've been psyched for it ever since the first trailer came out.
I got to see The Flash at an early screening last week, i was blown away. After being let down by Multiverse of Madness, and all of Ezra Miller’s issues, I was thoroughly impressed. The acting was Incredible, and the cameos were great.
Hah, must be the lack of a movie centering around a female main antagonist (or hero) who isn’t wearing a revealing outfit that is the biggest cause for your enjoyment.
Anyone else just *_REALLY_* happy to see Michael Keaton back as Batman?! Who knows, maybe there’s hope that the door is still open for us to see Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman again one day. It happened with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, after all…
@@kyotheman69 not sure I’d say he was bad. That would require a bad execution of good or neutral material. He might be trash, but so were all of his scripts. This nonsense was on purpose.

It's funny that ever since The Flash movie got announced back in the day, the Flash TV-show got announced, ran for 9 seasons, and concluded before the movie ever hit theaters. 🤷♂
My wife doesn’t pay attention to most of the superhero movies I watch because she just doesn’t like them. You can imagine my surprise when I heard her say during the battle with Zod, “ I didn’t know this movie was so good!” Even though there are things that can improve with the cgi, we both enjoyed the movie very much.
Better than I expected. I didn't love it, but the action was genuinely fun, the heartfelt moments really worked for me, and the plot was actually petty interesting. It's definitely a messy film, and i don't think it all works as well as it could (you can tell there were multiple cooks in the kitchen), but all in all, this was a geniinely fun movie. With that said, I'm kinda over the multiverse unless someone really has a good story to tell. Multiverse stories are fun when they're an occasional event, not every other freaking superhero story now. Thankfully this is one of the good ones because they kept the stakes grounded and personal.
I've just watched it for the first time (Netflix) and I had so much fun! And the characters were well written and had their own little arcs. I didn't know anything about the Flash but I was a teenager when Keaton's Batman 1989 was released. The mix of old and new is very well handled. I think it's a very good super hero movie. It didn't deserve booming. Also, I'm from Spain and Maribel Verdú playing the mom and Barry and she singing "la vida te da sorpresas" was a heartwarming touch
I wanna see The Turtle in a flash movie that goes through a version of the comic series where the flash learns about the other “Forces” in DC (like the Stillness/still force, the negative speed force, and the gravity bending strength force). The concept of the forces reminds me a lot of how the infinity stones are representations of condensed aspects of reality, and it would be fun to see flash fight someone who could slow him down, or someone who could create earthquakes and micro black holes.
In my opinion, people are really spoiled. It’s only bad because they know it could be better nowadays, but 10-15 years ago, when it looked far more shitty, no one complained.
What's sad is people on UA-cam does better jobs with CGI's then those making these millions/billions of dollars films, for 100's of millions dollars less. LOL!
The New 52 opening run by Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato is great just for the art alone, story's ok. Manapul's art is gorgeous. Gwen's universe in Across the Spider-Verse is very similar to Manapul's style with the pastel watercolors.
Just saw The Flash. My wife and I thought it was fun. Go out and see it people. Form your own opinion of the movie afterwards, rather than be influenced by Rotten Tomatoes, critics with their own agendas, or UA-cam scoopers. Stay safe all. Peace.
Interesting. I just saw it cause it’s on Netflix. I remember this movie got blasted in the reviews but I honestly found this movie pretty entertaining. Really entertaining actually
I did see it and it absolutely caught me off guard. I was totally expecting to hate it, but no, it's a really funny comedy, with tons of heart, two Ezras work really well and I would really recommend it. But yeah, the CGI is super weak, I'd appreciate way more Sasha Calle and personally I think Keaton was underused. It's just memberberries all throughout. It's also kind of obvious how the story is going to unravel (but it did surprise me a few times too). A solid 7/10 P.S. the after credits scene is funny, but just that. No teases or anything.
Just watched the movie on amazon Prime, i loved it, and it's a fun time. But i couldn't help noticing when borh flash are in scene together like facing the cameras, you could clearly see the cgi one, and im not sure how they overlooked this. It almost looked like some extra character from a game or something. Anyway, all the action scenes were nice.
The strangeness of some of the character CGI was noticeable, but it seemed as if the distortion was a deliberate choice. This is the best DC universe movie yet, very well paced, only one or two big holes in the story, but for a comic book movie, that's pretty good. I will watch it again, Ezra Miller was much better than he was in Justice League.
The Flash was my favorite superhero growing up and I am so glad this movie is getting good reviews! While I'm excited for the Gunn DC Universe, I am sad that we won't get to see more of the Snyderverse and the DCEU that could have been had Warner Brothers just allowed the directors and creative teams to do their thing. It's a catch 22 for sure but I still feel good about James Gunn leading DC forward!
The scene where batman and flash had wonder womans lasso touching them and they revealed stuff was funny as hell let alone the final interaction with him and his mom made me wanna hug my mom.
Thank you for speaking from the heart Jeremy, love your reviews. First thing I do after watching a movie is look for your review and it's become part of the experience. Always find myself agreeing with your points. Loved the movie, a solid 8 for me. See you in the next one.
You can tell from the japanese trailers and a released action figure, "Other Barry" gets disfigured and becomes Dark Flash. The marketing team at Warner bros didn't do a good job keeping it secret.
I think it’s clearly a movie that doesn’t take itself seriously which is pretty evident considering all the original Justice League being fired. There were some moments that did hit tho, like Barry getting mad at Alternate Barry. When you look at people that grow up without a parent or both, they are forced to grow up quickly and someone that’s never experienced those things is kinda careless. It’s reiterated throughout the movie when Alternate Barry calls back to Mom always being there.
I had fun, I laughed, I loved how the 2 Barry's interacted, the emotional moments with his mom really got me. It's been a while since a super hero movie actually had me laughing. I agree that Micheal Keaton didn't need to be in it. But I loved him in the movie. All and all apart from some rubbish special effects, I really enjoyed this movie.
You know what I saw this in. The cinema and it surprised me how much I enjoyed it, got it cheap on blu ray for Christmas and just watched it again, I really enjoyed if not slightly more the second time, yes some scenes are daft and cgi a bit off but it’s a fun solid film.
When he said "I'm batman" it came after him denying his identity and not wanting to help. So him saying that was more for himself than anyone else. So it did feel like it fit in the moment even tho it was for nostalgic purposes.
Saw this after opening night. 2 comics you should all read are the first two volumes of Mark Waid's run as the author of the Flash in the 90s. Wally West just becomes the Flash after Barrey Allen's death in Crisis on Infiinte Earths. Great character work! He deals with all the classic Flash villains. A good time overall
The flash 787 mate, trust me, a fun, well written comic issue with great art and a wonderfully fun story. Wally West goes full WWE, what's not to love!! Great video as always 👊
As my first movie my Dad took me to was Batman 89.. Michael Keaton stole the show for me. Wasn't a great move. But his scenes. Loved for nostalgia as a 9 year old kid returning to it.

While I loved Michael Keaton in this movie, I really liked how Flashpoint’s Batman was Thomas Wayne, and how he was super brutal and didn’t mind killing criminals. It really set the tone for the new reality, and really hit us in the face with just how different this new reality was.
That won't work as well with the DCEU, considering that one of the first scenes with Affleck Batman is him killing multiple regular people.
Yeah because Batman being brutal and killing people is totally a new concept for DC movies.
Absolutely love to see Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck back as Batman. This new Batman movie looks awesome! it even has The Flash in it!

My favorite flash story ever written was the return of Barry Allen, because you finally got to see the torch get passed and the best character development I’ve seen from a secondary character who was promoted to the main character. If you’ve never read it you are missing out on a great story
I remember reading that as a kid, it also helped bring into the fold most of the flash family like Max and Johnny Quick.

I had a genuinely good time with this movie. One of a handful of DC films that actually left me feeling good after it. I’d give it an 8/10.

A genuine miracle this movie even looks watchable and interesting with all the production issues and Ezra stuff

I think the flash tv show really helped this movie since everyone who’s seen the show doesn’t really need the origin story we had already spent 9 years watching a barry allen be the flash and grow as the flash. So a good chunk of the audience already has the origin therefore this movie can just jump straight into it.

Bad movie.

Couldn't agree more. When I saw the CGI faces of the babies and then of the people during the time force, I immediately thought there has to be a reason and I think by the end with the alternate universes colliding I came to think it was because of that. Still a weird choice but I guess it'd take too much time and money especially after the big delay.

Dan Murrell is also really good at this
Literally every review is biased & what’s “fair” is subjective, if some people can’t help but dislike Ezra’s presence & don’t include that in their review, it’s not an honest review
@@LuisSierra42 Thanks for the heads up. Never watched him, but I’ll be sure to check him out. 👍🏼
The flash by Jeremy Adams is an amazing run. Thankfully this is one of the good ones because they kept the stakes grounded and personal.
to be honest... i wanted to hate it more... but it was probably the most entertaining DC movie
This is one of the few movies I've watched where the bad CGI didn't bother me much, it ended up still entertaining
LOL!
A lot of other DCEU movies looked more expensive but were way crummier. If I enjoy a film, I’ll fine with super crappy CGI at this point.
It had some issues but it wasn’t as bad as I expected. I enjoyed seeing the dark flash and the way Barry traveled through time.
A solid 7/10
P.S. the after credits scene is funny, but just that. No teases or anything.
This is the review I have been waiting for the most.
The only problem i see here is we dont know what the normal universe is like to compare to an alternate universe character
My favorite flash comic is the early 2000s run by Geoff Johns where Hunter Zolomon/Zoom was introduced. Such a cool take on a speedster villain.

I've watched it on Blu-ray, plus behind the scenes, I thought it's great too
When he said "I'm batman" it came after him denying his identity and not wanting to help. So him saying that was more for himself than anyone else. So it did feel like it fit in the moment even tho it was for nostalgic purposes.
I saw Flash a couple of weeks back. I thought it was fantastic, but we didn’t have an end scene or credits. So I’m curious.
The lightning in the beginning was a cool and subtle touch for your intros man!😂🔥
In my opinion, that movie has a big 80's vibe. Not the visual but, the ideas in general.
Loved for nostalgia as a 9 year old kid returning to it.
i really want to see this movie but i refuse to give money to that Ezra freak
The only man I can trust with movie reviews
Within 5 minutes too. Hate those reviews that are so long and don’t get to the point
