I don't know how true this is, but at least on spotify it says that the city that listens to Metallica the most is Mexico City. Just goes to show how their work crossed borders and barriers.
I never would’ve been a Metallica fan had I not picked up the bass, it was after I started playing bass that I learned about cliff through anesthesia pulling teeth
That's so wholesome of you guys to go out and visit his grave. I hope that maybe one day I can pay my favorite bassist a visit even if everyone has already forgotten about him and nobody even knows about Metallica. . .I won't forget. You guys didn't either. Respect!
Cliff, I may have never met you, but you were the burning candle I never knew I needed until I saw its glowing glory. No, much more than that. You were and always burn brighter than a an acetylene torch. Thank you for everything.
Rest easy big guy. You are a legend, And the reason why I started playing bass over 12 year's ago. And also the reason why I have about 12 different bass's in my collection. (Not to mention 4 different ESP guitar's that i play also, thanks to the man himself James.)
loved this guy and his bass playin. Met him at the Metal Hammer Loreley Festival (ok, there had been a fence between us) in Germany Sept. 14 th in 85 and he was the only Rock star ever that signed my ticket. One year later he died with this bus crash in Sweden or wherever it was. Hell, I felt guilty somehow and never ever asked for my ticket to be signed by anyone else. Since that day he lives on in my mind . . . forever !
It great to see people gathering to remember the Great Cliff Burton. I'm glad to see a brother from my Beloved Mexico being there, I hope some time, some day I could do the same. Cliff's memory remains in our hearts, in our ears.

rip cliff....is that the exact spot where the bus crashed? there's a pic going around online that shows a really devestated bus and there saying that was the bus, no it wasn't. I'm sure u all seen it
Hate to pee on your bonfire, but that is not the crash location. This road is the 557. The road they were travelling on was the E4 highway, about a couple of miles south east of the memorial stone. There is no reason for the tour bus to have gone down this road.
Jonny Davies That road was E4 highway at that time, The road E4 of today was built a coupe of years later. the exact location of the accident is 300 meters to the south of the Cliff Burton momorial stone, on the other side of the road.
Ah! Thank you! I did check on Google Earth to see if the road layouts had changed over the years, but the historical satellite imagery only goes back so far.
Why is there a giant Mexican flag there? Was Cliff Burton Mexican? No, American. Did the bus accident take place in Mexico? No, Sweden. We’re Metallica a Mexican band? No, American. So, what exactly is the purpose of staking claim to a memorial like you’re some kind of conquistador?
I really do respect that they're people there from Mexico ( & other countries too ) but did they have to display a Mexican Flag there ? Cliff Burton is & was American. It is a memorial & I don't think any flag should be displayed there. I mean that's just my opinion. No offense please to anyone out there.
Wtf does the Mexican flag, or the flag of any nation have to do with honoring Cliff Burton? Whatever. God bless Cliff Burton and his family. Nationalism and Cliff Burton, what a stupid combination
@@Jesusblowsme666 I highly doubt that. Plus the guys from Germany and Sweden didn’t do it so that makes it even more unlikely. I really don’t care that much I just wanted to state my opinion on how it’s stupid
@@scottmthw just because other people don't do it, doesn't mean they all follow the same unspoken rules. As you know, metal is huge part of central and south american life anyways so you're going to find a lot of metallica fans over there.

Disrespect for Clifford, there was no cross originally there, who put it there and why? The fans agreed on the album with the family and the band, no one made a cross or wanted to. They support their religion everywhere. Someday I will visit this place again, this cross will be removed.
