CLIFF BURTON'S LAST SONG
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 січ 2013
- Cliff Burton was one of the best bass players ever. He was a big part of Metallica. He taught James about harmonies. He went to college for music. He practiced 8 hours a day. He could play bass with his fingers faster than most on an electric guitar. His death was a tragic one, which greatly effected James, Kirk, and Lars. His life was too short, like an unfinished song. Rest in peace.
Alternative title : "how to cry at 3 am missing someone you have never met before"
Exactly dude. Im legit in tears rn and idk why
Exactly, the first time is listened to a track with ONLY Cliff's part, i cried, and this song bring tears to my eyes
You got me over here learning it right now red baron you speak the truth...
Same happened here. Also Chuck Schuldiner if any of you know him.
@@lane_d_assassin1698 you mean Chuck Schuldiner?
Man, cliff wrote his own requiem like mozart, what a genius
This song is spiritual.
more like bach, an old friend of his said in a interview that cliff thought mozart was a pussy 😂 what a legend
hm never thought about it that way.. , thx
Thanks to Jason for playing this at the best metallica concert ever.
That's why I think this is bullshit, I don't think this is cliff

Cliff wrote it, Jason played it in loving memory
Always remember that cliff was killed in a tour travel….. Jason admire him💔

This is basically "To Live is to Die" and to hear it in this form is amazing. Thank you
This is the part of the song that cliff wrote before he died. R.I.P Cliff
I noticed it immediately, but took a little longer for me to realize that the title was referring to Cliff’s death
Near the end of "To Live is to Die" you can actually hear James softly reading a poem Cliff wrote. The last line of that poem was etched onto his gravestone. You think this was sad before? How about now?
@@nielstielemans7913 the entire song is just the 5 stages of grief over Cliff's death
@@SoulTwinky It really is. I've watched the Metallica domentary from 2001 (not sure tho, it's not some kind of monster though) and the part where they discuss Cliff's death always has me welling up..... I was born in 2002 and didn't start listening until I was 16 and I still always well up at that
It's clear now why Heitfield, Lars and Hammett miss him so badly.....he was the musical genius behind all of it.
Maybe they also miss him because he was their close friend ? Fucking dumbass
Angel Flores thx
He learned how to play classical guitar and music theory. He pretty much WAS the band. They were never the same after he passed. James hates himself because of the coin toss about the top bunk. He said it should have been him.
Nixter69er it was cliff and Kirk. They drew cards.
Williams Ruthless Figures while james just followed along and lars snorted 100kg of coke and fucked up
He was too talented for this world. Maybe angels' choir in heaven needed a bassist

Lemmy is a better bass player but cliff is still an amazing bass player. Lemmy is better that geddy Lee tho in my opinion
Ryne Clausen Dude objectively Lemmy is not a very good bass player, he is extremely sloppy and not really a composing genius. He is not anywhere close to being the best and anyone who has grabbed a bass in his life would agree. Also comparing Geddy Lee with Lemmy is blasphemy, Geddy is just out of this world.
R.I.P. Cliff Burton: a true madman on bass. May you continue to inspire many bass players to come.
34 years ago, we lost this magnificent bass player at such a high point in Metallica's career. Cliff continues to live through his music which brought Metallica to higher levels of fame, eventually bringing them to the mainstream level of the music industry. He did so much and he gave his gift to the world. I don't care if this this demo was by him or not, but all we know is that this song was to be his send off. A tribute to one of the legendary bassists in metal and even music history. He isn't dead, because he lives within the sounds of his man made bass lines from the band's early days. He lives on with Metallica and he will never be forgotten for as long as we keep him close and memorable to us. He is, was, and always will be the best in the world at what he did. Rest well, Clifford.

Trujillo didn't dislike this video. I think, certainly Trujillo does not wants to be Burton, but he wants to be good to the band as Burton was.
Victor Hugo Ferreira jason....
Yes, ive caught your think line, but i was talking about Burton, certainly. Not to say that he came to substitute Jason, but in my kind of think i mean that he wants to be good to the band. This is what a good bass player wants.
Victor Hugo Ferreira as a bassist, I would like to point out that Trujillo is a great bassist. He didn't kill Metallica, Metallica killed him :/
Dave mustaine did it 😂😂

that really hit me deep RIP Cliff Burton.
I don't usually cry, but I went back to see that with my own eyes, and my eyes started to tear up, to now listen to pre Black album Metallica and care so much about Cliff Burtons death, picking up the bass, and wanting to follow in cliffs footsteps, to become one of the greatest bassists in history, it really hurts, it hurts to know he isn't alive anymore

This song is why i have yt premium
Sounds cool, wish it's really played by Cliff or Jason... But I doubt it. Cliff recorded his demos on a plain tape recorder, and this sounds too digital and clean for me (at least bass). This tune sounds even cleaner than Cliff's bass on Master of Puppets album. Where it came from? 30 years of nothing, and here it is... But now all we can do is imagining that that's really played with Burton's fingers... R.I.P. Cliff Burton! \m/
I think that you know it, but the song "To Live Is To Die" is very similar to this video. And I also remember that Jason played this version on Seattle '89.

Andriy Vasylenko hey dude, I think you should cover this version of To Live is To Die, I think it'd be amazing coming outta your bass guitar

These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives
All this I cannot bear to witness any longer
Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home
When I was younger I loved this song. I still do... But it has taken on so much more meaning in my life. The under tones of the ramifications of lying to yourself and denying the world of who one can truly be if they are true to themselves. I look beyond this world now. I look at where I will be if I'm not honest with the Lord. I knew about salvation but I didn't know about salvation. To live we have to die in the flesh. And be reborn in the spirit. It's amazing how we go through life not realizing the Words were always around us. When the veil is lifted... It's that "wow!" moment. The footprints in the sand moment when you realize the Lord never left you... He carried you through the hard times when you thought you wouldn't make it.
Thank You Lord for never forsaking me... I am truly ready for the kingdom of salvation to take me home now....

There will never be another bassist like cliff he was the best in my opinion
"When a man lies, he murders a part of the world" Metallica lyrics, written by Cliff, based on the best Arthurian legend movie ever "Excalibur" as spoken in that movie by Merlin the Magician, both stemming from the hymn and poet writer Gerhardt: “When a man lies he murders some part of the world. These are the pale deaths men miscall their lives.”
―Paul Gerhardt

All the effort that he put in all this songs just give me a feeling that I can't describe but it's like a motivation to go ahead...

Just imagine how great this band would have been with CLIFF AND DAVE MUSTAINE if they stayed through the years ... wow...
I like to think that in a parallel universe Cliff, Dave and James all figured it out, stayed together and played on lol.
Why do people keep saying this bullshit??? Cliff I get it, but why Dave??? Dave has his own band which is amazing, both Megadeth and Metallica wrote masterpieces without each other. Also Dave on lead guitar??? So that every solo is random shredding?? Kirk is a better fit and he actually wrote great solos for Metallica, Dave is better at writing riffs, and Metallica already has Hetfield for that
