"When a man lies, he murders a part of the world" Metallica lyrics, written by Cliff, based on the best Arthurian legend movie ever "Excalibur" as spoken in that movie by Merlin the Magician, both stemming from the hymn and poet writer Gerhardt: “When a man lies he murders some part of the world. These are the pale deaths men miscall their lives.” ―Paul Gerhardt Cliff was in tune, on more levels than one, beautiful and respectful of beauty, tragic and respectful of the beauty of tragedy. One of the best, and I don't just mean on the bass. But he sure as shit was a mean motherfucker on a 4-string without a doubt. Thank you Cliff!
I'm only 15 and thanks to the beautiful Cliff's work on his basslines I decided to play the bass... Honestly I wish I could see Cliff live with the rest of Metallica but fate wanted it in another way... A cruel and dark way that left the world around him into obscurity and loneliness... The world lost that bright spark too early... Sorry if this is hard to understand or something but I'm still learning English...

@@mashanwq Part of this bass solo is used in To Live Is To Die, and it starts at 4:30.
@@efe_fx thank you!
Cliff passed away on my birthday... Legends never die & hes definitely a legend
Go with Dime and Vin and Dio!!! Shake the Heavens
Lemmy Wayne and Peter Steele
Same for me
He died on my mother’s 9th birthday
He didn’t die he ascended he is too great for this world so he left
Cliff burton was the best
This last record is so beautiful. Why did Cliff leave this world so soon ? He didn't deserve to leave this shortly ? Cliff was probably one of the best bassists of his generation.
These are the pale deaths men miscall their lives.”
―Paul Gerhardt
Cliff was in tune, on more levels than one, beautiful and respectful of beauty, tragic and respectful of the beauty of tragedy. One of the best, and I don't just mean on the bass. But he sure as shit was a mean motherfucker on a 4-string without a doubt. Thank you Cliff!
Obsidian Wolf a true original bassist
Very well said wolf!.....that made my night reading that.
Obsidian Wolf
Where am I heard your name before?
it is not from that gtfo
yea..hes up there in the top tier gods with hendrix, bonham, page,etc...
I’m 14 and this still makes me chop onions
Makes my eyes sweat 😓
I'm only 15 and thanks to the beautiful Cliff's work on his basslines I decided to play the bass...
All the effort that he put in all this songs just give me a feeling that I can't describe but it's like a motivation to go ahead...
Honestly I wish I could see Cliff live with the rest of Metallica but fate wanted it in another way... A cruel and dark way that left the world around him into obscurity and loneliness...
The world lost that bright spark too early...
Sorry if this is hard to understand or something but I'm still learning English...
The meaning of the song really hits you hard when you realize it’s his last
This is the most beautiful piece of music Ive ever heard!
Theres Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Cliff Burton.
Cliff take me always to a new dimension with just easy harmonics done kind of a way thats just beyond any other musicians. You can feel a love for music that is just above anything you hear in today's music
My soul leaves me to travel every time I hear Cliff play a solo... Miss ya man
May god be with Cliff
Gamerninja 01 god cliff
Cliff is god
May Cliff be with God
Lemmy is up there with him now.
When I go to heaven im gonna have my bass rig with me and cliffs gonna be waiting for me at the gates, I’m so emotional
"To Live Is To Die"
When I was younger I loved this song. I still do... But it has taken on so much more meaning in my life. The under tones of the ramifications of lying to yourself and denying the world of who one can truly be if they are true to themselves. I look beyond this world now. I look at where I will be if I'm not honest with the Lord. I knew about salvation but I didn't know about salvation. To live we have to die in the flesh. And be reborn in the spirit. It's amazing how we go through life not realizing the Words were always around us. When the veil is lifted... It's that "wow!" moment. The footprints in the sand moment when you realize the Lord never left you... He carried you through the hard times when you thought you wouldn't make it.
Thank You Lord for never forsaking me... I am truly ready for the kingdom of salvation to take me home….
“To live is to die”
From Cliff Burton notes
When a man lies he murders some part of the world
These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives
All this I cannot bear to witness any longer
Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home
RIP CLIFF BURTON! FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS!

Richard Roberson we hate on her fanbase
@@jessebriggs7995 Why? At least theh feel emotion when listening to good Music.
Richard Roberson, because some of them think that they are super unique just because they listen to their music, granted there are people like that’s in every fan base, i just found that the billie eyelash fans are the most prominent

Him Bass guitar Is so amazing
Happy Birthday Brother...
This world ain't the same without you
He left us all one last gift. It speaks so much to who he was and how he passed too soon. It’s a heart breaking melody that tells us to carry on and live for today. All without words
tears here...RIP Cliff. Hope to see you in heaven some day.
To Live is to Die
...and Cliff for all
And justice for cliff
there is never a way to give a man such as this a big enough tribute.
There will never be another bassist like cliff he was the best in my opinion
Beautiful is the only word I can think of to describe what I just heard
When I was 8 y.o. I started to play bass...bcs of Cliff...now I'm 14...and I still can't belive he is gone...
you werent alive when he was, what can you believe
Where kids today cry (almost all of them): no robux
Where legends cry:
Not just men. Literally everything Metallica fan (cuz sum fans are females)
@Adrian Romo sad as hell, we all miss cliff, if he never died, Metallica would be better off without load and reload or St Anger. Almost burst into tears when I heard this, never have I ever done this, until now

Lars was the Brain

Cliff was the soul
RIP Sir, it’s quite insane that even almost 35 years after your death you have left such an impactful legacy
James Was the Face
Lars Was the Brain
Kirk was the Skill
And Cliff was all three of those.
Lars is the brain? He could be replaced by a kid bro
@@iogurte006 drumming aside lars was a big driving force behind metallica, he made many good decisions and if it werent for lars metallica wouldnt be as big as they are today
@@iogurte006Lars is the reason Metallica is as big as it is today. You're a fool to think otherwise, man took a rock band and turned it into a billion dollar brand solidified himself and the others as one of the greatest in the process.
I use to hate bass, until I herd Cliff Burton! I've was blown away, and I now love bass guitar! The best in my ears and heart! I really do miss you mr, Cliff!!
The thing I find sad is that I share my birthday with Cliff's death day and he is the reason I started playing bass. I will be 23 when he will have been gone for 50 years, Rest in Peace.

37 years without him. Wonder how much good material he could have workt on all those years
37 years ago on this day we lost cliff gone but never forgotten 😢
Im not a huge fan of Metallica or Cliff Burton for that matter ( maybe I should be ) but seriously , who in they're right mind would dislike this ?
Scottish Trendkill this isn't cliff playing
Don't expect 7 billion people to like a song
@Nickhead87 or maybe they just find it disrespectful to post this, I dont find it disrespectful but I could see how someone could
You.... I like what you said. I must agree
Nickhead87 I don’t think that need a 3 page S A lmao, the guy wasn’t acting offended he meant that the music is good that he can’t understand why some people disliked it he wasn’t saying how rude or anything 😂
