As somebody who regularly sends packages through the post, you ALWAYS put "fragile" tape! Otherwise the Royal Mail think it's perfectly acceptable to drive a van over your package and then put it through a crusher before launching towards your door with a trebuchet.
I have a Stratos 50 lt, its unbelievable!!! I went for the 36 but the space wasnt what i expected... The 50 less or more things in it, made my hiking easy!!! Nice review!!
Totally agree with you on the quality and utility of Osprey packs, I’ve got the Kestrel 48 too and have used it on multi-day hikes of up to 3 days. It’s very, very comfortable to carry loads with. I also have a Skarab 22 that I use for day hikes and my wife has a Skimmer 20. Both are brilliant!
I brought this from Taunton Leisure a few years ago and some of the stitching failed on the first outing which was a short test hike through Bristol anyway I took it back with the receipt to the retailer and they replaced it and I have not had any further problems with the bag since and I would definitely get another one when this one does eventually fail through wear and tear which hopefully won’t be in the near future as I plan too start using it again soon for my commutes as it the smallest but and most reliable of all my backpacks
Also have the kestrel for winter and been looking at the stratos for summer/spring,just a shame the 36 doesn’t come in the gator green like the 34/24 , looking forward to seeing how you get on with it
Osprey are a definite future purchase for me they are growing more popular all the time. What litre size would you say is ideal for a 1 night wild camp I think I over packed for my first one last year😂
Hey Ben just thought I'd share this with you, so after watching this vid I nipped down to GO outdoors on boxing day for a mooch as you do, anyway they had a few backpacks on a returns rail they were selling off, few vango, trespass ect and all with a label telling you why they had been returned and the repair, things like shoulder strap was faulty been restitched, waist clasp broken been replaced, nearly all were selling for 20 quid, then amongst them I spotted a osprey aerial AG 65ltr, label said no faults at all but it didn't have a price on, so I went over to the bags department and found one, retail at £160 !! Now the bag is woman specific so I asked if it would be ok for a man, got told yeh of course only difference is they tend to have a shorter back and narrower across shoulders but he pointed out because it has the moveable back it really didn't make any odds as it's all adjustable, so back to the returns rack, tried it on and it's perfect, took it to the till to enquire the cost, thinking it would maybe be around 100 or so range, anyway young girl didn't know so got on the walkie talkie and eventually got told just charge 20 quid for it same as the others, she looked at me and said is that ok ?? I was like YES HERES MY MONEY 🤣🤣 now I'm the proud owner of a £160 osprey bag that's brand new and I've been over it with a fine tooth combe and cannot find one thing wrong with it !!! Now that's gotta be some bargain !!
I never knew about registering my pack,i bought a kestrel 38 and i have a talon 22,i will have to get on the website, great bit of advice,i also have 3 lowe alpine packs one of them is Manaslu 65-75 a very sturdy but heavy pack,i do find osprey packs seem to conform incredibly and will be investing in a much larger osprey pack, not because i need it but because i want it haha cheers
I swear by Osprey rucksacks and drybags as the quality and build are fantastic for the price. The 'trampoline' back is a godsend for me as it does help with the dreaded sweaty back problem. The Stratos 26 is a great day hike pack if you need something smaller but with all the features of the 36. I have put mine through all sorts of conditions and have never let me down or been uncomfortable to wear. The only small niggle I have is the condensation that is created inside the raincover which does make the pack a bit damp but this is the only fault that I have found and is not a deal breaker. For a smaller pack I would recommend the Osprey Hikelite 18 which is really lightweight and perfect for those hikes where you don't need to take too much with you.
Great review, I have seen this rucksac in go outdoors really impressed with it, the only down side for me was the amount of zips and access to the internal compartments, for me always on target and rushing to complete my hike I have the fear off leaving a zip open and losing all my gear, it's just a thought, not happened to me yet. Great review and great rucksac
I know you are fan of Naturehike tents, but have you tried any of their rucksacks. For some reason I've been getting pop up adverts from Naturehike recently on my Yahoo email page and some of their rucksacks don't look too bad.
Well that was spooky! I’ve literally just got one of their ‘rock’ 60l rucksacks TODAY 😆 it’ll be a couple of weeks before I can try it out though as I’m away with work 😩
I bought the exact same one just before summer and it is fantastic. Extremely comfortable and you don’t know you are wearing it plus it keeps your back dry😁.
Awesome video ... I love Osprey packs too, I've got 4 of them, maybe 5 😆 Really like the bright colour inside, not that is matters like you said but looks cool and easier to make sure you havent left anything in there lol. Love the side access too 👏🏻👌🏻 You know what, im loving this... think this video is gonna cost me £100 🙈🤣🤣🤣 Cheers pal hope you have a fantastic Christmas 🎄 👍🏻 Taken care mate.... Chris
Never tried Osprey but I managed to buy Fjallraven of similar size in a sale during 2020 lock down and love it . Usually that stuff is out of my price range .
I really like the look of that. pack. The black and green look awesome! I also really like the stow and go system for trekking poles, I wasn't aware this was a thing and always presumed poles default to the back (front?) of the pack. Definitely not a pack I would look to buy for winter though, it's too small for my winter gear though I might look into it for summer since I have got my gear down smaller and lighter than it was during this summer. Thanks for putting out the vid bud.
Thanks for watching mate 👍 looks good so far. I bought it for spring/summer camps. The Kestrel 48 was the same price and is big enough for my winter gear 😊Ben
Nice rucksack Ben. Always worth spending a few extra £ to get a good pack. I have the Stratos 26L which I use as a summer pack or donate to Lily when she comes out. Very comfortable. Got 3 Osprey packs and they’re all really comfortable
Lucky you !! Fantastic back pack Ben, I imagine you probably won't use any other from now on, surprised to see a rain cover as osprey are notorious for not providing a rain cover but instead sell them seperate at a eye watering price for what they actually are, but that all said the osprey brand is bullet proof gear and will last year's and years, I have a 11 year old 65ltr osprey Concorde and it's still going strong, although it does have a few practicality niggles I absolutely hate but it doesn't stop me using it, anyway Merry Xmas to you and your family mate hope you have a great day 👍👍
@@daleyoutdoors Well I going to give myself a pat on the back for realising it! ;-). Looks like a good bit of kit for the money though. Happy Christmas to you and the family, maybe Santa will bring you some more gear to test.
Osprey are the only packs I use I've got 5 from 11l to 68l there so well made I love the stow on the go and the hip belt pockets only negative for me is the length of the webbing belt in the s/m size when I have my winter pack on and a few layers and big gloves the belt is 2 short
Nice review Ben 👍 In my opinion a decent backpack/rucksack is a must and well worth investing in. I've had a few cheap ones and they don't last. The Stratos has some nice features. Will this be used for your upcoming ultralight camps ?

For me comfort on my back is way more important than number of pockets, I’m not carrying a laptop. Would this work for carry on luggage?
No idea 🤷♂️
