The women’s versions have more curve to the shoulder straps to avoid pressure on the breasts and the hip belt has a slightly different contour to accommodate a woman’s hip bones.
Thanks for letting everyone know, pinned your comment. Somehow missed that when making this video. In fact, I think I'll cut that part out of the video entirely through the UA-cam Editor.
The sternum strap isn’t a flaw in the design. It’s designed that way intentionally so you can replace the strap if it breaks. That narrow part is made thinner on purpose so you can take the strap off or put it on without cutting or sewing the pack.
Osprey’s Talon series is one of my favorites. I have both the 22L for biking & short hikes and the 44L for longer hikes. I think it strikes a great balance with ultra light & beefier packs. I am not ultralight, but I also don’t over pack too heavy, so it’s perfect.👌🏻
I have the talon 33 (older model). I bought it a few years ago and I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to do overnight backpacking trips with it because of its size. I was wrong! If you have small enough gear you can pack for 2 or 3 days with the 33! I’m absolutely in love with my pack. Once I start doing longer trips, I might buy the 44. Thanks for the review
Awersome review, straight to the point. Quality content! And some totally lame (but awesome) jokes. Just my kind of humor ;) Good job, u got a new sub and i got a new pack! Just recieved it yesterday!
I just got the blue 55 litre Talon on a crazy good deal from a czech site, they had a limited time Osprey discount on, plus they offered a 10% of promo code. It cost me €116.63. Haven't used it yet, but there is a video here on youtube where a guy packed an insane amount of winter gear into it, including a shovel and a pair of ice axes. Cant wait to take it on my first trip.
Just bought a talon 44 after being very happy with the talon 33 as a day pack. Thanks this was a refreshingly good review and I really enjoyed the gags,I’m looking forward to testing my 44 on a pack hike.My normal go to for backpacking is the osprey atmos ag 65 as I tend to want to take 18kg of ultralight gear! But I’m working towards going a bit lighter.I tried the levity 60 but the volume meant I overloaded it,so I’m selling that after a couple of uses.High hopes for the talon 44 thanks again,I’m looking forward to the next video, you tickled my funny bone,if you know what that means!
Hi thanks for the video! Do you think it would too big for a mountaineering 2-day trip: sleep in a hostel at 2000+m, than going for the top with crampons, axe etc.
Hey. Well, it's pretty light, and it isn't too large, which is why I sometimes use it on single-day hikes as well. Ideally, you'd want something smaller, but if you don't have anything else on hand, you can use the Talon 44 for single-day hikes as well. But it's mostly geared towards 2-5 day hikes.
If you wouldn't pack it completely full, you definitely could use it as a carry-on. In this video, it's about 65-70 cm / 25.5-27.5 inches in height. But if you wouldn't pack it full, it would be within 55 cm / 22 inches. The frame itself doesn't bend and it's 53 cm / 20.8 inches in height. Theoretically, you could take off the lid (it's attached with straps and you can remove them), and use the lid as your personal item and the rest of the bag as your carry-on. :D
Thx for the review. I have an osprey 30L day pack I got on eBay. Love it except the hip straps could be better. Got a bit uncomfortable wen we were hiking canyons in Utah. I’m looking for a better pack and will go to REI in a few weeks to get fitted & try out different brands & models. PS I love the vehicle comparisons 😁
Thank you for the video. It is a shame that it doesn’t come with a rain cover. I am looking for a pack for the Camino Santiago next year which is about 25km a day for 4 weeks, carrying loads of around 10-15 kgs.
I have not tried the Exos myself and honestly, It's my first time hearing about it. I checked it out, and it looks very similar to the Talon models. I mean, in terms of features, pockets, size, weight, e.t.c., just differently shaped. I've heard good things about the Osprey Atmos packs, which a few of my friends have. I've tried it on, and it feels even more comfortable compared to the Talon. They're much heavier though.
Those jokes... Oh boy 😅 ha! I'd recommend making the edit tighter on the jokes for less awkward moments but you do you no worries.. I wish I could get this bag in red I love Osprey even if they are bit expensive. Nice review keep it up! Inspiring stuff.. Also enjoying the style. I'd call it the modern day hiker maybe?
I'd say that I'm still in the phase of "experimenting", when it comes to UA-cam. 😀 Trying out different types of content, different shooting setups, various amounts of "jokes", e.t.c. Trying to find out what I personally enjoy making the most and trying to find my own personal style. Definitely going for a younger audience though, as you mention. That would be a cool name for a channel "modern day hiker", but I'd rather keep things simple and leave it as my name & surname. 😀 Thanks for the tips!
Does it depend on my height to choose from two sizes or they both have the same height configuration properties and it's just a matter of volume? (I'm 174 cm)
Here are the torso length measurements from rei.com: L/XL (44l): 19-23 inches S/M (42l): 16-20 inches My own torso length is 18 inches (from hip bones to shoulders), and I'm 185cm in height. I think you should get the S/M version if you're 174cm tall for a perfect fit.
This could be improved by ditching the top lid and replacing it with a roll top and ditching the lower zip. The frame needs to be improved, I’m sure any good designer could do it.
Decent review, but the video is mostly too dark so it's really difficult to see details on the pack. Agree with the sternum strap design. It's easy to adjust, but the strap fall off way too easy.
I have purchased this backpack based on positive reviews like this one, and other reviews mostly about the older model, which is almost 400 grams lighter. Today this is by no means a lightweight pack at almost 1500 grams for a 44 liters pack. Why anybody is SAYING OUT LOUD that the new Osprey talons are not same as the old ones at almost 40% more weight?????? It seems this is another company which products degenerate in time by cheating and looking for profit, and apparently rewarding most reviewers for not saying that they have completely changed the specifications.

@@OscarHikes no problem brother. Good review man.
yes very comfortable the women's version

+1 on the Osprey warranty. I had a 10 year old pack that had the material start to degrade (not from use) and they replaced it with no issues
ive had one for 4 years now, superb backpack

Good review of one of my favorite packs. I love the Talon series. I have the Talon 22, 33 & 44.
Wouaw, didn't expect to laugh during a backpack review. Nice video !
Thanks!

The lame jokes made a difference to other reviews. Just got a Talon 44 Really good review. Am I the first here??
Great review keep up the great content.
Great review - thank you! The front pole storage is great for mountain hikes here in Canadian Rockies
Okay you got me with the Dodge Ram joke out of nowhere 😅
Thanks for this! This video is the Tesla of gear videos.
Very informative video, thank you kindly
At new models they fixed that problem chest strap and it works good)

The 33 size is quite tempting. What do you think compared to 44...?
Great review and thanks for the video!
What is the length, without lid, for Osprey Talon 44?
I'm interesting if I can take it with me as carry-on

Would this make a good carry on backpack? What are its dimensions?
Thank you for the video. It is a shame that it doesn’t come with a rain cover.

Look on the bike24 website for red osprey talon 112€
Thanks for the review. Unfortunately the actual version seems to be much heavier.
no rain cover?
Lots of info.reminds of a GTR skyline

Only maybe Jason Mamoa😄
why car for references? 🤣

Did you buy the 2024 version? I am deciding between the old model and 2024 but there are not many reviews on the new model.
Zero reason to buy ospreys anymore, theres way better packs out there.
