- Despite planning on going through all the cars in the Shed alphabetically, this week the sun was shining and Ivan wanted to focus on the Salmson, which he bought in Portugal.
There have been a few issues with the dynamo, and the weather has been terrible so it hasn't been out since last summer.
Anyway it is running well, we've since got the dynamo back and we're hoping to use it a bit. - Авто та транспорт
Always glad to see you're videos no matter how long or short! You and Susie are a gift to all of us! Please never stop! There are lots of us that truly enjoy anything you provide! Cheers from Alberta Canada
I've taken to doing thumbs up before I even watch the video. Always a pleasure to watch.
i don't care what order we have your beautiful collection in as long as we get a glimpse and get to hear from Ivan all about the cars he has in his amazing collection
that sky is pure Van Gogh - homage to the Salmson and to the three artists
I really enjoy the pre-war stuff Ivan, I always learn a lot. Always good to see you, Suzie and of course John.
Best wishes, Dean.
Thanks to both you, Ivan, and Susie for preserving and highlighting these remarkable old cars. You are educating posterity and doing humanity a big favor.
As ever delightful and so interesting that the first tactile contact of a 'motor car' the Salmson provides an enduring love and appreciation!
We missed you today at Snetterton Ivan but had a great conversation with your son Tim
Hope to see more of your videos soon
Dig the socks Ivan !!
Had never heard of Salmson until one day I was poking around a scrapyard in Carluke Scotland, and there was a Salmson in among the rows of scrap cars. That was many many years ago, and it will be long gone by now, but it's nice to see one actually running.
I love the Salmson a superb little car...Well done Ivan, looks really authentic. ❤
Fabulous ivan 👍
Made my day yet again Ivan. Beautiful English weather also.
👍👍👍👍👍
A Beauty of an auto. Very sporty, especially for 1926. You and your Father did wonderful work. You,John, and the rest did great refurbishing what's needed to motor down the roads again too.
Absolutely a Jem of a car ! Thanks as always 😎
What a dignified little car! Cheers from Iowa
I absolutely love watching your videos
Sending best wishes from Hebden Bridge
Great progress with the Portuguese Salmson. Classic situation with the dynamo charging direction😁! Cheers from NZ🇳🇿.
I can't get over just how skinny the wheels/tyres are on this, I'd swear than one of my grandsons has got a push bike with fatter wheels. An absolute pleasure to watch as always, cheers.
Ivan, thanks for that update on your Salmson from Portugal, yourself, John and team "shed racing" have recovered it to a beautifully, practical, everyday use example of the marque. Love your work and your videos, cheers Suzie.
What a lovely car Ivan! Much history there, and it's another fine example of the great work you do. Thanks again for sharing another interesting video. Cheers from Canada, Paul.😄
You sure know how to flatter a Lady Ivan 🙂
I remember with 6v Lucas m/c dynamos and electro-mechanical voltage control boxes you could reverse the polarity by holding one set of contacts in the vcb and doing something else I forget, all the manuals used to have the instructions how to do it
Flash the field winding with a jump lead from the battery.
Thanks for the report. Always great to catch up on what’s going on with Shed Racing.
Regards to you and Susie, what a great team. Wiz from Oz.
A lovely car Ivan. I’d loved to run the backroads with you in that motor car. But alas I have to close my eyes and feel the wind in my hair from across the pond.
Cheers Mate
Lovely to watch a real engineer not troubled by fixing anything….whatever brakes, take it to bits, fix it and put it back in again! Wonderful! 😀😀😀😀
Just like you Ivan the Salmson is beautiful! 🤠
Fabulous ivan
Thanks for the update on the wonderful Salmson! It looks just right with the beautiful original bodywork back on over the new woodwork... Always looking forward to the next video... Cheers from Canada!
These are fabulous, thank you for spending the time to treat us to these.
I’d love a couple of shed racing stickers for my cars! How can I purchase please ( if possible?)
That is a beautiful car that sounds lovely. Great Job making it road worthy again.
thanks for another enjoyable video 👍youngsters should be made to watch two hours of shed racing every night after school. but then they would soon be tearing around the country lanes like 84 year olds🤣🤣👍
Just great thanks team.
Another fab car and video thank you both 😊
PS non aligned screw slots on the dash 🥴 would drive me nuts 😂
I can't put into words how much I appreciate this channel.
The French were masters of the voiturette in the 1920s. Amilcar, ABC, Salmson,...all exquisite.
...GN?
@@tooleyheadbang4239 GNs were English chain-driven cycle cars so quite different to the French idea of small conventional vehicles.
@@RoyCousins Salmson started out in the car industry by building GN cyclecars under licence at Billancourt.
That was the connection.
@@RoyCousins The first Salmson cars were GN cyclecars built under licence. That's the connection.
@@tooleyheadbang4239 I know the history, but Amilcar moved from making cyclecars like GN to making voiturettes.
Good Evening Ivan & Team. Thank You all for another great informative video. Kind Regards from WLG NZL
That car looks great.❤
You’ve got a beautiful car there.
It's all about the socks.
I suspect that the generator simply needed to be "Re-polarised" to suit the polarity of the vehicle whether it be positive or negative earth. This was a common occurrence when changing from positive earth to negative earth, normally to fit readily available radios. It a very simple process - just unplug the Field connection at the regulator & briefly flash the field wire to the hot battery terminal. I bet the original generator was working but had been polarised for the opposite battery polarity.
That gorgeous 190SL in the background kept catching my eye. Suzie's?
Where can we get a shed racing sticker Ivan?
I would like to see a detailed explanation of the Salmson 4 pushrod system to operate all the valves.
👍🇦🇺
Clockwork Orange socks. . .
Riveting videos from start to finish.
Cracking looking Cycle Car, admiring your marshy looking paddock have you ever considered a period Cinder oval track or even a Curborough esque mini race track, a few Shelsly Walsh style period tin roofs structures an you could have a cycle car exstravaganza!
Cheers Ivan great stuff.
I think the local council might have something to say about that unfortunately.
S is for mister burnS.
Mr. Helotes drove a Salmson.
A 1924 Salmson.
