The lords of Waterdeep are demigods that can call upon powers and armies that match the army of the absolute. There’s an entire nation of undead enslaved to lich’s(shown in the DND movie) who could also pose a heavy resistance. These are just 3 examples I can think of, and I’ve never even read the lore books.
Possibly one of the darkest endings yet. Hence the name of The Dark Urge. Durge has to be one of my favorite playable characters, there's so much room, so much story, so much to unfold and do with this character. This opens up one of many endings for the Durge. Love it! Can't wait for Patch 7 to officially release!

And yes, Durge will always be my Main and Canon character. I actually started writing a fanfic about my Dark Urge Dragonborn. I call him “Krone”. He is desperately trying to rid himself of the urge and escape the madness bestowed upon him. His Love companion is Shadowheart. She’s my favorite 😍
I think Dark urge was the intended way to play the game. You could've gone for the "custom" character, which gives you a blank slate to imprint yourself on. But standing on the shoulders of every wonderful story that your companions are standing on, a "custom" character can feel very flat or dull by comparison. Durge fills that space perfectly - giving you a customizable character that also has it's own agency rather than a Tav that just came along for the ride after the nautiloid fell. The little moments where you lose control also helps sell just how strong the urge can be for Children of Bhaal, and puts a little twist on what might've been an ordinary encounter for the player if they went for a "normal Tav." That, and it also makes sense thematically considering you played as a Bhaalite in the previous title.
You're more right than you know, actually. See, I thought the same thing as you, so I did a bit of digging. Turns out, in the early access of this game, ALL player characters were subject to mysterious violent urges, some of which they'd even have to make wisdom saving throws to resist. It's VERY likely that the pc was originally intended to be a Bhaalspawn, but early access players voiced complaints at losing control of their character, hence why Dark Urge was made a separate playthrough in the same vein of a Malkavian playthrough for Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines.
Already know I don't have it in me to go for a full blown evil playthrough, but it's really cool that this game has a character with an in-world justification to be an absolute murder hobo.
As hard as his design goes, it screams too much of "I am going to wear your skin and eat your babies" to me. I'd prefer to cloak him or her in something more approachable so the murder is more concealed.

Not going to lie, just randomly spawning cleavers inside the hearts of everyone the netherbrain has dominat has gotta be one of the most brutal, most unconventional, and most badass ways to use Netherbrain that we have gotten. And the way the bodies are suspended... DAMN!

I can't believe Larian didn't make this ending a final battle where your companions turn on you in a free-for-all to dominate the brain. Every single companion would have a reason to oppose Durge if he went down this path, either for righteous reasons or selfish ones. Are you telling me that Ascended Astarion, lusting for power and paranoid as he is, wouldn't stab you in the back as quickly as you stab The Emperor? Why, why, why, would these high-powered clerics, wizards, and vampires stand by in a cutscene and watch world domination fall into the hands of a Bhaalspawn who explicitly wants to murder everyone, when back-stabbing and taking it for themselves is clearly on the table? That would not only lead to a difficult and story-appropriate fight, but you could also do the Viconia DeVir thing, where they all survive the combat and end up prone on the ground for one last dialogue, so each one can get some spotlight and closure, instead of just the romanced companion. It wouldn't even be hard to program! There's already a duel with Lae'zel where you fight a companion. Just do that, but for all three in the Netherbrain arena after Durge gives the order to dominate the brain.
Because none of the character except for Astarion and Minthara want to dominate the world. Gale want the crown, not domination. Shadowheart doesn’t care about anything except Shar (if Sharran) or her parents (if Selunite) And from lore perspective, Durge is the strongest party member. Durge ain’t some watered down Bhaalspawn. Durge is THE Bhaalspawn. Ascended Astarion wouldn’t even stand a chance against The Slayer. the game did it dirty because balancing issue but lore wise, it had literally perfect stealth, the ability to charm like vampire, raise its victim into a zombie like powerful Necromancer, any wound inflicts by The Slayer cannot be healed, instill murderous emotion in any mortal, control bone; turning it into a blade and stab victim from inside. Not to mention, If you reach the point where Durge fight the Netherbrain. it implies the party was gaslighted by Durge that they are reformed.
I like to think they're just in shock; their close friend and/or lover who led them through three acts' worth of danger, terror, and death, suddenly turns on them at the last second.

When I first beat the game, I did it with this ending. Watching this totally just gave me closure. Despite how much I loved the game, my ending was under written, this gave me what I was looking for. Thanks Larian
I played as Tav on my first playthrough and obviously loved the game, and i was hesitant after my first playthrough to do a run as the Dark Urge. I like being the hero and saving the day. I don't get the same joy others do from playing as the villain of my own single-player story. But after beating the game a dozen times at this point to me, Durge is the definitive playthrough for me. It's so well done and adds so much depth to an already ocean deep story by giving you your cake and eating it too. Yeah have your custom character with your own backstory, with the added backstory the game sets up but lets you decide how to deal with. Embrace it, reject it or walk the fine line and the whole time you learn more about the backstory of your character. Meanwhile, playing them, you build up what they are now and how the backstory impacts them. I'm just gushing over how well I've done this was.
Game decided it would be fun to have “Not Found” for basically all the dialogue in this ending so I came here to see it. Sucks to have about an 80 hour play through just for a bug to ruin it.
I'm at the point where I have to choose to follow or disregard Bhaal and I'm happy I looked up the ending. I promised MInthara we will be ruling together, and this is too tragic for me ;(

It’s not just the Eclipse, it’s the entire scene in which is happening down to the color palette and setting that the “eclipse” is taking place. @@AussieRider20 Not all gods in D&D require worship, many older gods that existed before mortal races (such as Selune, shar, and asmodeus) are powerful without worship, although Bhaalspawn isn’t technically one of these deities, he also seemingly gets power from sacrificed souls as much (if not more) than his actual worshippers.
@@courier6960 Ao changed the rules for gods. They're now dependent on worship because he was fed up with them neglecting their duties. Bhaal may get power from sacrifice but it won't last forever
@AussieRider20 There is a kind of trusted ironic beauty in that. The Dark Urge killing the whole world would include killing all Bhaalists including themselves. Bhaal would effectively be murdered by his own child. He would indeed by proud.
Now THIS is how you do an evil ending for a video game. I hate the ones where they just are like "Oh you get like, killed in a cutscene by some guy because you did bad things. How dare you do bad things in the game where we let you do bad things? You should be ashamed!"
He will. The Blood Moon we see in the cutscene was a vision (shown by Bhaal) of the world he will create, but in-game books (written by Durge before memory loss) state that omnicide-suicide has always been in the plans.

The Dark Urge will effectively murder Bhaal the moment he kills every other person and then himself. Indeed, Bhaal would be very proud.

This actually wouldn't be possible within D&D. Bhaall would have been stopped before it could happen. The over god Ao, would intervene and prevent Durge from going through with killing everyone. It's too big of a change, and that's the sort of thing Ao prevents. A God can take out entire cities or kill millions, but if it's anything larger than that or trying to cause a permanent changes, Ao steps in. That's an ending I would have liked to see actually. You pick the evilest ending possible, only to get stopped by Ao.
Made a Full up Villain Run and this ending is just perfect. I love it that you can truly now immerse yourself as a villain probably one of the few games that lets you go that far. Kudos Larian. Not the ending Durge wanted (probably) but the ending Durge was destined for.
Durge specifically has no choice if you dont resist from the start you can never be free theres a line about you imagining the horrors bhaal will inflict on you if you refuse him near the ending
It would be really cool if Dark Urge at the end, after destroying all life, even killed his own father (And Witch the Absolute Power he is more than capable of doing that) and seeing that this act causes Bhall to have a disturbing joy seeing your son overcome him.
does everyone choose to do this in camp attire? I’ve only seen a couple of ends where the Mc is decked out in badass endgame armour, To me a lot of these endings with the main character wearing pajamas just feels off tone for the ending; i wanna see a baddass helldusk durge or something anything other than casual attire
@@Cokeuser13 I think it’s one of the high end Undergarment’s you can get at the high end clothes store in Baldurs Gate & Just outside of it before entering The Keep that connects to the city: Carm’s Garms i think one of them is called; Either that or that clothes set is a mod. Unfortunately I got the not found ending. It's this ending except that the narrator didn't say anything and all the dialogue options said not found. Not the best use of 90 hours but okay.

Realistically, yeah this plan would never work just due to the sheer amount of things in DnD stronger than an Elder Brain. Aspects of Deity's would appear to oppose the Dark Urge and he would be wiped off the face of existence. That said, they take liberties with these evil endings for the sake of storytelling.
@GeneralKnightmare I think the key ingredient here though is the Crown of Karsus. It's implied in the game that this is only possible because of the unique cross section of an elder brains powers and the augmentation due to the Crown. Also, gods are empowered by followers doing things in their name within their domains, and the bigger the act, the the more power comes from that. Sure, in the long run this means Bhaal might starve, but not before he is empowered so much, and every other god is weakened so much that he could probably get smart and find a way around it, unless he also wants to die.
@ironhorse492 The Crown of Karsus can make anyone with sufficient power a Deity. Which is pretty strong, but keep in mind a Demon Prince stronger than an Elder Brain had that Crown in his vault and never used it because he knew Asmodeus would still kick his ass even if he did use it. Sure, lesser deities and the like could be fucked by the lack of worshippers. But those few select Greater Deities would be able to stomp out the Elder Brain, Bhaal, and the Durge instantly if Ao doesn't directly forbid them from doing so.

The Absolute has been Stated multiple times to be as strong as (if not STRONGER) than the gods (we even see Gale use the absolute to fight all the gods in his ending like Kratos) but gamplay wise it's pretty weak. Like how Durge is supposed to be the strongest Bhaalspawn but Gorians ward would one shot him and the absolute. Just like how the Slayer form is supposed to be absolutely broken and immune to even magic but in BG3 it's weaker than a owlbear wildshape.
Well, first off, I'm sure Larian must've had some BERSERK inspired artwork going on here. And secondly, there're way too many Evil Endings now. Now there needs to be some better endings to balance it out.
Player should have a choice to keep companions alive even in this ending. Bhaal still need followers to worship him and it doesn't make sense to kill such powerful warriors at the beginning of the bloodshed crusade.
The very act of ENDING all Life in the mortal realm would empower Bhaal to an absolutely insane degree. Potentially farther than Jergal at his height tbh. He also doesn’t need more Crusaders. He has You, his Chosen, in control of the Illithid.
I mean you do, one of the options just postpones their death until the end of durges plans. ultimately one Uber powerful godspawn is worth more than any other party member as they can kill with a thought enmasse
The fact that he *doesn't* anymore is kind of the point of this ending though. That you have reached such an apotheosis of power with the Godlike Netherbrain at your command that none can stand before you- you will drown the entire world in slaughter and bloodshed, and none can stop you. Just like Minthara said- Bhaal and gods like him don't have followers, just more victims.
As I understand it, God's gain power not just from followers, but from actions within their domain, and the bigger the act, the more power granted. For instance, Tyr is empowered by acts of justice, and not just his followers. It explains how evil gods who might be shunned in polite society could still remain powerful. Sure you might have a small cult of only a few thousand people, but if they sacrifice a virgin in your name every Tuesday that's enough to make you a powerful deity. Bhaal's Chosen ending all life would empower Bhaal so much that he likely would never need another prayer from another follower for the entire duration of the bloodshed, and long after that. It should also be the case that it goes the other way. Once all living things die, all other gods no longer have followers or anyone to do anything in their names. Those gods will starve and die as well. Bhaal's plan would result in the death of gods as well
I don't know if this is in character for a celebrant of Bhaal. Killing every living thing with no criteria is just, as fucked up as it is. I'd assume for the followers of Bhaal tithing something calculated like genocide (or omnicide) is not the same as something momentous and passionate as the sacrament of murder. Also how do I get myself off whatever list these musings just put me on.
Some of the gods in D&D do things that are irrational. This is pretty inline with Bhaal, but he's also fairly low tier and not super powerful. So most gods can easily stop him.

This ending is when Dark Urge embraces Bhaal. If you have an old savegame before deciding what to do with the Netherbrain (final battle), you can reload and continue from there.
@@jawjaw27 eeh, not really. He was trying to trigger a war between the Sword Coast and Amn. It was more tyranny than mass slaughter. Orrin is a perfect example of what Bhaal is about. So is the serial killer you chase in the lower city.

@@jawjaw27 True, thing is at the time all the dead gods were trying to return. Some of Bhaal’s spawn wanted to help, others like Sarevok wanted to supplant Bhaal and take his place. Apotheosis has different requirements depending on the god. Its why Shar could get control of the shadow weave (sort of) but was never going to be able to take and hold the weave. In the case of “the Dark Urge” AKA Bhaal’s chosen. He is not the same as a Bhaal Spawn. Bhaal is very much returned if diminished. Bhaal, Bane, Mask, Myrkul, Tyr, and the fused Mystra/Midnight/Ariel Manyx 3.12 are alive but at a diminished power. Hell Eilistraee had become the masked lady, died and come back at this point as had her brother and half brother. My point is, an orgy of murder to re ignite the Throne of Bhaal when he is shriven and trying to return is one thing, random slaughter is more Grumnsh one Eye’s flavor of mayhem. Been with D&D since the 80’s. This one was a bit jarring and off flavor. Kinda like how people keep forgetting Karsus of Netheril tried to supplant Mystryl and failed. In turn Mystryl became Mystra split the weave to render such things impossible.
This is an ending that wouldn't be possible in D&D. Ao the over god, that stops gods from altering things too much, would put an end to this really quick. Ao is usually neutral about most things, but if a God goes too far he steps in to prevent any massive changes. I really wish Larian had of put an ending like that, where Ao wrecks you and Bhaal for trying to push things too far.
Larian forgot about Minthara a long time ago, shame because it was their best written character at some point before they butchered her to remove any trace of the "evil" path.

I saved a durge for two months for this ending, and I have to say it is the most fucked up and violent thing I’ve ever seen in this game. I love it.

I can't believe Larian didn't make this ending a final battle where your companions turn on you in a free-for-all to dominate the brain. Every single companion would have a reason to oppose Durge if he went down this path, either for righteous reasons or selfish ones. Are you telling me that Ascended Astarion, lusting for power and paranoid as he is, wouldn't stab you in the back as quickly as you stab The Emperor?
Why, why, why, would these high-powered clerics, wizards, and vampires stand by in a cutscene and watch world domination fall into the hands of a Bhaalspawn who explicitly wants to murder everyone, when back-stabbing and taking it for themselves is clearly on the table? That would not only lead to a difficult and story-appropriate fight, but you could also do the Viconia DeVir thing, where they all survive the combat and end up prone on the ground for one last dialogue, so each one can get some spotlight and closure, instead of just the romanced companion.
It wouldn't even be hard to program! There's already a duel with Lae'zel where you fight a companion. Just do that, but for all three in the Netherbrain arena after Durge gives the order to dominate the brain.
Because none of the character except for Astarion and Minthara want to dominate the world. Gale want the crown, not domination. Shadowheart doesn’t care about anything except Shar (if Sharran) or her parents (if Selunite)
And from lore perspective, Durge is the strongest party member. Durge ain’t some watered down Bhaalspawn. Durge is THE Bhaalspawn. Ascended Astarion wouldn’t even stand a chance against The Slayer. the game did it dirty because balancing issue but lore wise, it had literally perfect stealth, the ability to charm like vampire, raise its victim into a zombie like powerful Necromancer, any wound inflicts by The Slayer cannot be healed, instill murderous emotion in any mortal, control bone; turning it into a blade and stab victim from inside.
Not to mention, If you reach the point where Durge fight the Netherbrain. it implies the party was gaslighted by Durge that they are reformed.
I like to think they're just in shock; their close friend and/or lover who led them through three acts' worth of danger, terror, and death, suddenly turns on them at the last second.

When I first beat the game, I did it with this ending. Watching this totally just gave me closure. Despite how much I loved the game, my ending was under written, this gave me what I was looking for. Thanks Larian

Drowning the Sword Coast in blood deserved an extended ending like this.
I played as Tav on my first playthrough and obviously loved the game, and i was hesitant after my first playthrough to do a run as the Dark Urge. I like being the hero and saving the day. I don't get the same joy others do from playing as the villain of my own single-player story. But after beating the game a dozen times at this point to me, Durge is the definitive playthrough for me. It's so well done and adds so much depth to an already ocean deep story by giving you your cake and eating it too. Yeah have your custom character with your own backstory, with the added backstory the game sets up but lets you decide how to deal with. Embrace it, reject it or walk the fine line and the whole time you learn more about the backstory of your character. Meanwhile, playing them, you build up what they are now and how the backstory impacts them. I'm just gushing over how well I've done this was.
Game decided it would be fun to have “Not Found” for basically all the dialogue in this ending so I came here to see it. Sucks to have about an 80 hour play through just for a bug to ruin it.

When I got this ending today, I regretted my choices and was like :

I'm at the point where I have to choose to follow or disregard Bhaal and I'm happy I looked up the ending. I promised MInthara we will be ruling together, and this is too tragic for me ;(
This ending just shows how influential the dark visuals and storytelling in Berserk was and still is in the fictional fantasy world.

It’s not just the Eclipse, it’s the entire scene in which is happening down to the color palette and setting that the “eclipse” is taking place. Obviously Berserk doesn’t trademark eclipses, we know that.

Not all gods in D&D require worship, many older gods that existed before mortal races (such as Selune, shar, and asmodeus) are powerful without worship, although Bhaalspawn isn’t technically one of these deities, he also seemingly gets power from sacrificed souls as much (if not more) than his actual worshippers.
@@courier6960 Ao changed the rules for gods. They're now dependent on worship because he was fed up with them neglecting their duties. Bhaal may get power from sacrifice but it won't last forever

@AussieRider20 There is a kind of trusted ironic beauty in that. The Dark Urge killing the whole world would include killing all Bhaalists including themselves. Bhaal would effectively be murdered by his own child. He would indeed by proud.

He will. The Blood Moon we see in the cutscene was a vision (shown by Bhaal) of the world he will create, but in-game books (written by Durge before memory loss) state that omnicide-suicide has always been in the plans.

The Dark Urge will effectively murder Bhaal the moment he kills every other person and then himself. Indeed, Bhaal would be very proud.
Ao doesn't need worshippers, and likely can reset the timeline if needed.
The power trip you feel embracing the dark urge is unreal I've got this ending before and I wasn't sure if I should be saying that's cool or that's fucked up😅

This actually wouldn't be possible within D&D. Bhaall would have been stopped before it could happen. The over god Ao, would intervene and prevent Durge from going through with killing everyone. It's too big of a change, and that's the sort of thing Ao prevents. A God can take out entire cities or kill millions, but if it's anything larger than that or trying to cause a permanent changes, Ao steps in. That's an ending I would have liked to see actually. You pick the evilest ending possible, only to get stopped by Ao.

Made a Full up Villain Run and this ending is just perfect. I love it that you can truly now immerse yourself as a villain probably one of the few games that lets you go that far.

does everyone choose to do this in camp attire? I’ve only seen a couple of ends where the Mc is decked out in badass endgame armour, To me a lot of these endings with the main character wearing pajamas just feels off tone for the ending; i wanna see a baddass helldusk durge or something anything other than casual attire

This was a very satisfying ending after doing a kill everyone run, haha.
Unfortunately I got the not found ending. It's this ending except that the narrator didn't say anything and all the dialogue options said not found. Not the best use of 90 hours but okay.
Granted Bhaal gets his blood, but i'd prefer to use the absolute's power amass an army to spill it the old fashioned way, Khorne style.
karlach pants looks amazing on dragonborn. Did the same thing. my lightning had a deep metallic amethyst skin color with the lemon, lime, and lichen dye armor/pants theme going.

Realistically, yeah this plan would never work just due to the sheer amount of things in DnD stronger than an Elder Brain. Aspects of Deity's would appear to oppose the Dark Urge and he would be wiped off the face of existence.
That said, they take liberties with these evil endings for the sake of storytelling.
@GeneralKnightmare I think the key ingredient here though is the Crown of Karsus. It's implied in the game that this is only possible because of the unique cross section of an elder brains powers and the augmentation due to the Crown.
Also, gods are empowered by followers doing things in their name within their domains, and the bigger the act, the the more power comes from that. Sure, in the long run this means Bhaal might starve, but not before he is empowered so much, and every other god is weakened so much that he could probably get smart and find a way around it, unless he also wants to die.
@ironhorse492 The Crown of Karsus can make anyone with sufficient power a Deity. Which is pretty strong, but keep in mind a Demon Prince stronger than an Elder Brain had that Crown in his vault and never used it because he knew Asmodeus would still kick his ass even if he did use it.
Sure, lesser deities and the like could be fucked by the lack of worshippers. But those few select Greater Deities would be able to stomp out the Elder Brain, Bhaal, and the Durge instantly if Ao doesn't directly forbid them from doing so.

The Absolute has been Stated multiple times to be as strong as (if not STRONGER) than the gods (we even see Gale use the absolute to fight all the gods in his ending like Kratos) but gamplay wise it's pretty weak. Like how Durge is supposed to be the strongest Bhaalspawn but Gorians ward would one shot him and the absolute. Just like how the Slayer form is supposed to be absolutely broken and immune to even magic but in BG3 it's weaker than a owlbear wildshape.

Player should have a choice to keep companions alive even in this ending. Bhaal still need followers to worship him and it doesn't make sense to kill such powerful warriors at the beginning of the bloodshed crusade.
The very act of ENDING all Life in the mortal realm would empower Bhaal to an absolutely insane degree. Potentially farther than Jergal at his height tbh. He also doesn’t need more Crusaders. He has You, his Chosen, in control of the Illithid.
I mean you do, one of the options just postpones their death until the end of durges plans. ultimately one Uber powerful godspawn is worth more than any other party member as they can kill with a thought enmasse
The fact that he *doesn't* anymore is kind of the point of this ending though. That you have reached such an apotheosis of power with the Godlike Netherbrain at your command that none can stand before you- you will drown the entire world in slaughter and bloodshed, and none can stop you.
Just like Minthara said- Bhaal and gods like him don't have followers, just more victims.
As I understand it, God's gain power not just from followers, but from actions within their domain, and the bigger the act, the more power granted. For instance, Tyr is empowered by acts of justice, and not just his followers. It explains how evil gods who might be shunned in polite society could still remain powerful. Sure you might have a small cult of only a few thousand people, but if they sacrifice a virgin in your name every Tuesday that's enough to make you a powerful deity.
Bhaal's Chosen ending all life would empower Bhaal so much that he likely would never need another prayer from another follower for the entire duration of the bloodshed, and long after that.
It should also be the case that it goes the other way. Once all living things die, all other gods no longer have followers or anyone to do anything in their names. Those gods will starve and die as well. Bhaal's plan would result in the death of gods as well
Doesn't Durge having an army of mind flyers kill in Bhaal's name make him stronger anyway?
I killed Orin and embraced Baal. But this ending didn't trigger. I just sit on the throne and then end credits roll. Such a shame.

I don't know if this is in character for a celebrant of Bhaal. Killing every living thing with no criteria is just, as fucked up as it is. I'd assume for the followers of Bhaal tithing something calculated like genocide (or omnicide) is not the same as something momentous and passionate as the sacrament of murder. Also how do I get myself off whatever list these musings just put me on.

Doesn't really make sense. Shouldn't Bhaal want worshipers? Killing, yes. But the genocide of every living thing? Seems counterintuitive.
Just because he's a deity doesn't mean hewants worshipers he wants death so he gets death if he eventually dies from this ohwell.
Some of the gods in D&D do things that are irrational. This is pretty inline with Bhaal, but he's also fairly low tier and not super powerful. So most gods can easily stop him.

@@emperorandras879 no mods. All vanilla. I think its cuz of dragonborn so the eyes wont really change. My coop friend’s dragonborn on another play went half-illithid too but his eyes weren’t all black either.

This ending is when Dark Urge embraces Bhaal. If you have an old savegame before deciding what to do with the Netherbrain (final battle), you can reload and continue from there.

Ok, one problem, Bhaal is the lord of murder. Patron god of assassins and serial killers. Not blood mad, mass murderers.

@@jawjaw27 True, thing is at the time all the dead gods were trying to return. Some of Bhaal’s spawn wanted to help, others like Sarevok wanted to supplant Bhaal and take his place. Apotheosis has different requirements depending on the god. Its why Shar could get control of the shadow weave (sort of) but was never going to be able to take and hold the weave. In the case of “the Dark Urge” AKA Bhaal’s chosen. He is not the same as a Bhaal Spawn. Bhaal is very much returned if diminished. Bhaal, Bane, Mask, Myrkul, Tyr, and the fused Mystra/Midnight/Ariel Manyx 3.12 are alive but at a diminished power. Hell Eilistraee had become the masked lady, died and come back at this point as had her brother and half brother.
My point is, an orgy of murder to re ignite the Throne of Bhaal when he is shriven and trying to return is one thing, random slaughter is more Grumnsh one Eye’s flavor of mayhem. Been with D&D since the 80’s. This one was a bit jarring and off flavor. Kinda like how people keep forgetting Karsus of Netheril tried to supplant Mystryl and failed. In turn Mystryl became Mystra split the weave to render such things impossible.
This is an ending that wouldn't be possible in D&D. Ao the over god, that stops gods from altering things too much, would put an end to this really quick. Ao is usually neutral about most things, but if a God goes too far he steps in to prevent any massive changes. I really wish Larian had of put an ending like that, where Ao wrecks you and Bhaal for trying to push things too far.
