Thanks for having me guys, really enjoyed it! Looking forward to the barrel drilling tutorial 🙌
nice name
I dunno about anyone else, but I think we all need some more GoblinGreen2021 videos
@@xyonblade ❤
Wow, I didn't know Johnny Sinns painted miniatures! Long live the classics.
@@nothingview Ive been called worse 😂😂
Times new Roman is a pretty good description of ultramarines on so many levels XD
It's professional, standard and gets the job done
basic, organized, good looking. Makes sense to me.
The best part about the calling out Squidmar joke is that I literally just watched the collab video where Guy, Emil and Trent pick their favourite models. Like literally the video before this one.
Do you remember the title?

@@Higglebert it's the one with the REALLY clickbaity thumbnail
someone finally giving him a wet pallet. it's like seeing a primarch return to 40k
Seriously, I know everyone has their preferences but I always thought it mad he didn't use one. Was honestly a total game changer for me when I came back to the hobby recently, makes handling paints, especially mixing colours SOOO much easier.
According to some guy told me the reason a lot of things look like they did back in the day is that the guy in charge of photography or the white dwarf editor was unaware he was colourblind so he sent them back for not being vibrant enough until the wood was bright red etc
Even if thats true or not, the ultra bright colors define the style of the era.
I’d love to see a modern mini painted in this same style. See them right next to one another.
That would be awesome to see. 👍
I was actually thinking about starting an ultramarine army to do exactly that lmao
This probably isn't going to matter to anyone but I just painted my first ever mini the other day and it just so happened to be an ultramarine!
welcome to the hobby! Enjoy! If you ever have any questions or want some C&c on models, I am sure that a lot of us (inlcuding me) would be glad to help!
My first was Roboute, Ultramariens are a great entry to the hobby ;) #RIPYOURWALLET
Get it!
I painted my first model a bit or two ago and it was an ultramarine as well!
That is great man, I hope you enjoy the hobby as you get into it, and may you have steady hands in your painting journey!
Meanwhile, in the 2e cabinet...
Judge Dredd: "Ever feel like we stand out too much with all these 40K models?"
Chaos Warrior: "At least you belong in the distant techno-future, bud. I'm just a guy with an ax."
Amazing job! I can’t help notice how the sculpting makes the marine look like Robert De Niro.
Finished version looks a bit Eugene Levy to me.
Dunno where your seeing Robert de niro in that model but it's your hobbie
I am glad it's not just me! First thing I thought too
"You'll have time to rest when you're dead" - Sergeant De Niro, Ultramarines 3rd company, M41
@@Scarytoaster1809 "I've got nipples Inquisitor Greyfax can you milk me?" - The last words of convicted heretic Sergeant De Niro, Ultramarines 3rd company, M41
That marine came out fantastic! Definitely getting me jazzed to start painting up my kill team of retro Chaos Marines.
yes
Another retro painting, what a treat!
You have a superb talent for painting miniatures...and the ability to record at the same time is very special indeed. Thank you for sharing your secrets and special spells.
I really treasure these retro videos. For some reason they have been a reliable source of comfort during really distressing times. For some reason the music and the colors seems to give “early 2000s dvd menu playing to a sleeping room” vibes. Please keep these coming
that looks straight out of an old warhammer magazine! this is so cool looking, amazing model
Goblin Green is an incredible painter. Love his stuff, it really hits in the nostalgia. You did well here Guy. And your sergeant also looks like Harvey Keitel.
I never knew Ronald Reagan was an Ultramarine! Lol. Great work Guy!
I apreciated the way you gave us an idea of how many hours ot took to paint this model. I think a time total estimate for projects in future videos would be fun/ encouraging for the painters at home.
2:01 was comedy gold
is this just a meme or is there some traction here? ive felt like squidmar's vids the past 6 months or so have been pretty .. middle of the road, apart from the Manta series (that seems to never have an end?)
@@hairyhulkvideos I agree, they've been kinda meh, but I don't think they're repetitive? I'm not sure what Guy's getting at. (Genuine curiosity, I don't agree or disagree with him I just don't understand)
@@hairyhulkvideos that guy has simply become a professional youtuber who only wants subscribers with easily snackable content. No depth at all. Just entertainment, not really Warhammer anymore tbh
@@NightfallTH I think he was referring to all the painting challenges he does, you know, the ones where he looks super tired in the thumbnail with a crap ton of minis in front of him
Guy was one of my go-to UA-cam minipainters. Can't repay him enough. I learned a lot from his speedpainting videos. Fast forward 2 years. I'm teaching/helping people with painting minis.
Now he's my go to UA-camr on how to record superbe videos.
When I got back into Warhammer earlier this year, I dug out all my old models so I could strip them and give them a proper painting. This guide will help a lot. Thank you.
awww, the "default" flavor of ice cream is just.. cream. Vanilla is wonderful! hehe
Oooooh that Squidmar slander! 😂
I'm with GoblinGreen's marine on this one. Thumbs up Guy.
Got an odd compliment on Facebook recently. I posted numerous pics of twenty+ year old minis all painted similar to this. I was told "love your OG style. Keep doing what you're doing. DON'T IMPROVE." Old skool painting might make a comeback!
Woohoo i just got 1 Sergeant from ebay! Cant wait to paint it like yours , its so epic, G fn G dude.
Hey there Guy! Been watching you for a long time and just wanted to say you helped give me a lot of confidence for my painting. I too am red-green colorblind so I was always a little worried about painting but you have really put my mind at ease. Thanks for the great vids, and keep it up!
I knew it. More retro marines!
Well done thank you both. My fav seeing retro painting!.
Yay. More retro painting. I love these videos
As someone who started this hobby in the late 90's this was a real nostalgia trip. I still have a bunch of old skool miniatures somewhere including a Predator tank, Land speeder, Jump squad, Bike Squad, Tech marine and Marneus Calgar.
One of my favorite channels of all time
The return! So excited and so happy!
Everybody's favourite retro mini painter, Johnny Sins!
Love how the Ultramarines look, keep it up
Awesome effort! All that hard work really shines through in this style, everything looks so clean yet incredibly detailed
Nicely timed. Just about to paint some up. Space crusade box marines almost 30 years old
It does look amazing. I have warm memories of that 2nd edition manual!
That is an incredible amount of detail for such a tiny model
Nostalgic overload, Makes me miss Penny’s ad-libs.
Thank you , Guy .
Yerch!! Undie-smurf's ! Yerch!! Evy-metal !
Good job there Guy ,
🐺
Beautiful job on this guy. You've given me the push to give this old Raptor Legion scheme I've been sitting on another go!
I am a simple wargamer, I see a new Midwinter Minis video and I click
Truest thing I've ever heard
Simple commenter
Same. Guy’s voice is oddly calming after a day of Alaskan mechanics shouting
so say we all
Oh god, that tired comment doing the rounds again, is it?
I am liking that retro warhammer sign you made with your logo good job freind👍
Out of all the miniature painting UA-camrs I watch and all the painters I look up to, you are the only one that always gets me so inspired and motivated to paint! You have to be my number one hobby hero!
Thank you so much for all the videos and all the inspiration!
Seeing these models really takes me back! Great work Guy!
Love your stuff massive inspiration
Me before I started painting: Oh, this is relaxing content
Me after I started painting: WHY DOESN'T MY ORK ARMY LOOK AS GOOD AS ONE OF HIS MODELS HE TOOK THE SAME TIME FOR AS I DID FOR THE ENTIRE HORDE!?
Being able to see all your retro painted minis together was a real treat
Great video and great looking model! And yeah, this is a challenge and a half to paint in this way. For good and bad! :)
Its good to see doggo again ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Intro gave me goosies, you did something right
The Varnish really did make a difference, I’m impressed
I like the new paint wall background!
Shout out to the Series 7. Those paintbrushes will up your game so much it's not even fair. It's as if they do the painting for you.
Simply beautiful, but my god 50 hours wow! So much love for this.
Fantastic work guy. You're a real inspiration and I tried my first zenithal prime today. it's encouraging to know that even someone of your skill level is still learning things about painting.
The is always something so simple and neat about the old 90s Warhammer figures. They are so simple in their make and model.
These are easily the best videos IMO, not enough 90's content on youtube. Keep it coming!
Ehrmagerd, this is my favorite series on UA-cam (I have watched the Space Wolves, Dark Angels, and Terminator videos over and over again). Keep up the great work, your videos are awesome - and the background music (that you made yourself if I remember correctly) is so inspiring and imaginative!
Omg I love it! :D Please, more more!!
very nice paint job. it reminds me of my youth, dreaming of getting a squad to this level. And awesome T shirts!
Great work! The extra time really, really shows!
Glorious! All hail the greatest Space Marine Legion/Chapter ever!
Ah, the second edition starter set was my first box set! When I were a lad, we didn't have any of those fancy paint brushes, we had to paint our minis with a broom! Paints? No, we made do with jam, food colouring and shaded with puddle water!* 😉
* A vague reference to a Monty Python sketch...
A broom, bloody luxury we had to use sticks and dog hair.....
Two of my favorite retro-style painters in one video? This is awesome!
Who is the other painter?
At last, I have been sitting here, with one elbow on desk, hand under chin and drumming my fingers with the other hand waiting for this release.
Beautiful work Guy! Great video and awesome voice over!
So much time just for one mini pays off when it looks that good mate
I would personally start with the under armour and then the armour! Great job
Just bought the hoodie! Should be here mid October; perfect time for when Florida finally drops below 80 degrees freedomheit 😂
That looks amazing!!!! It looks like something you would see in a codex :D love your work as always
i painted with my aunt when young and when i was able to try her magnifier it helped so much
would love to see such a great paint job once in a while with more modern models :)
This video is delightful and the model is wonderful.
This is amazing, well done on the effort, I could not take that much care of be that regimented in a paint job. Great work Guy and it's great to see you pushing yourself ☺️
Best painting channel on YT. Thank you.
Just reminding me while I will NEVER have the patience to be a great painter. A real treat. Thank you for the extra detail you give in your videos.
I have always liked the Ultrasmurfs so the more vids the better in my opinion. Great looking mini you painted, love the retro style with modern techniques. Goblingreen is really talanted as well, love the vids.
I think he looks kinda like Lloyd Bridges in Airplane. Very good.
It turned out wonderfully! Well worth the time investment.
Stunning work.
Absolutley phenomenal job on this dude!
Cool 👍🏼 models painted old always look cool
I'm so happy to see you paint this classic, even as a smƱrf. (BTW, had to say "yes, please!" to the great retro-style shirt.)
It was worth it, that’s beautiful.
This was amazing. The miniature looks amazing. Really like that you have ventured out and done new thing. 50 hours is an insane amount of time 🤯🤯🤯🤯 Hopefully you do more paint style series like the Black Stone Fortress or take a Kill Team or War Cry boxes and paint them in a series. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the good work. 👍👍
Worth the wait. Don't stay away so long this time :)
Awesome to see you stepping out of your comfort zone Guy, it's never easy to do that so good on you :)
Wow all the time put in really payed off! Looks incredible at 24:26 right next to the other marines as well
This is Warhammer for me. i love the good old days of Warhammer. Please more of Vintage Painting, Heroquest would be great. Thank you for your videos and greetings from Germany!
"And you're the most important person here"
Awww, guy!~ :3c
Not only am I not a fan of ultramarines the retro style is definitely not my go to for my own models but JESUS this marine is absolutely beautiful! My night lords would love to have him as a trophy any day
Congrats man. This looks great!
I dunno about anyone else , but I think we all need some more GoblinGreen2021 videos
I saw your post on Reddit but didn't realize it was you until I saw this video's thumbnail. wicked job as always Guy!
I love these retro painting videos! As much as I can appreciate the skill that goes into painting grimdark models, the vibrancy and pop of details of the retro style just appeals so much more to me. Guy, once you're done with the titan... maybe you could start on another one, and retro paint it? 😀
I needed this video. Love you Guy.
That retro Midwinter Minis logo is excellent, really sets the tone for the video :D
Such great video, love it!
Fantastic result good sir!
