Defeatist attitudes are a plague. I have bad eye damage in one eye giving me a large blind spot in the center of my vision which also means I have no literally no depth perception when I'm looking at something. Didn't paint for the longest time because I thought this would make it near impossible. When I finally gave it a shot the first squad I did was far above tabletop standards. Adapt and overcome.
Definitely like the xenomorph one the best. It's done so quickly, but looks so 'natural'. The classic scheme kind of looks like a scary alien just came to work in his pyamas.
lol same - bought off Ebay a week ago, cracked open last night and oh look a guide on how to paint a 6 year old game pops up today. Cheers for the tips - Going with glossy black and blood covered white for mine.
I had the original issue with both expansions and painted over fifty of these things in original purple colour. I still twitch when I see a Genestealer. Great vid as always 😃
Blurple! My favourite is the Gigerseque one, that is really nicely done. I also have a soft spot for the classic Genestealer colours, as the original Genestealer Chaos Cult army list was first published in the first White Dwarf I ever bought - issue 116, in 1989! By the way, it looks like you really need to scrape some dried paint out of the lid of your pot of yellow paint, if you want it to stay useable for much longer.
You sir, are a gentleman. I have been looking at my Space Hulk box for ages, daunted by the volume of genestealers but I’ll have them all primed and ready for paint tonight. After painting up the BSF sets and seeing the amazing result I got following along, I can’t wait for this.
really love the brown one. it feels the most natural, like it could be a real horrifying alien. Gene-stealers always start feeling "fake" when they are brighter fancier colours
I've been absorbing all your tips and tricks for a couple of months and yesterday I give myself some courage to paint my first miniature! I found myself remembering/using a lot of the info you give and that made me felt more confident, soooo thanks a lot!
What an inspiring video! Really love the scheme and the way you cut out all the complexity- it really feels like something an amateur like me can achieve! I'm really looking forward to seeing the terminators and the 2ed tactical marines painted up too - especially in a classic goblin green style!

as far as I and the people in r/Tyranids can tell, they are not going to be anywhere near good during the beginning of 9th, hopefully that gets sorted out eventually. still isn't an excuse for me to stop painting my nids though!
Man, I miss my old Genestealer army. The hobby shop where I used to live had a bunch of Space Hulk and Tyranid Attack games for their players to play and would sell the minis from the games for 25 cents each, I bought a lot of them. This was about the time of the White Dwarf Genestealer army list, All I have left is three of the Tyranids that must have been put away in my Battle Masters or Warhammer Quest games. 30 years later and I'm getting back into the hobby with my sons so it's a lot of fun! I wish I had your tutorials back then! :) Keep up the great work!
I've been watching miniature painters youtube for so long now - you finally provided a HD close-up of the color consistency after adding water. Usually people only reference skim milk. I think this helps a lot for many new painters. Also: favorite color scheme is the xenomorph
Quoting the late, great Bill Paxton in one of his best roles, from the best film ever made... You sir definitely deserve my smashing of the Like button
I know this video is older but your tips and instruction are the best I have ever seen. I mainly wanted to start painting for the mcfarlane warhammer figures. You explanation and demonstration is perfect. Thank you so much.
i remember painting my first genestealer 30 years ago as a 13 year old in a purple and pink colour scheme. but i must say your "alien" inspired version is top class.
Nice video. Reminds me of my tyranid army back in the days of 3rd ed. Liche Purple, drybrushed Blood Red, with claws Bleached Bone drybrushed over Bronzed Flesh. Those paints are still going strong over 20 years later!
Midwinter Minis yo one of my fav content creators just took a hiatus from UA-cam bc of the difficulty of being on this platform. Pls make sure you take a break/holiday when u need to - we want you tu have a healthy channel. Take care dude
Love to see more of your speed paints, they're always so relaxing to watch and listen to late at night with the lights off and the dark moody tunes. I don't even paint/play warhammer!
That Aliens scheme is what I am going to use for my whole collection of Space Hulk Genestealers. It is magnificent and truly looks like the Aliens from the movies.
I’m sorry but wha- I can’t believe your colour blind you are so talented . You are really just proving that anyone can do anything . Thank you for always bringing a smile to my screen .🦋🌌🌑
Tbh I love them all but that might be from the fact that you painted them so well. HOWEVER, OG Genestealer and Xenostealer look absolutely gorgeous. Also Space Hulk Terminator speed paint when? I'd love to see some wacky but still badass schemes.
I just got done a couple of weeks ago with my 2e Space Hulk genestealers, goodness what a chore! But I have the 3e/4e 'stealers yet to paint, and this is the perfect guide. THANK YOU! You got a subscription, sir.
My Tyranids belong to "Hive Fleet Bumble" I base coat the model black, then on all the chitinous armour plating I paint on patterned markings similar to that found on wasps. I start the pattern with a dark yellow and gradually blend up to an extremely bright yellow finish. I do the same yellow colour scheme on all of their Rending Claws, scything Talons & Boneswords. I have no shooting weapons within my army! only sharp, pointy stabby ones! I wanted to symbolise a wasp/bee's stinger within my armies theme. I picked out the eyes & tongues with a bright vibrant green (GW Moot Green) to really make them pop on the models. I then used (GW Ardcoat) on all of the chitinous armour plating & all the sharp, pointy stabby weapons to finish the models. The paint scheme looks striking when you deploy the army for a game the vast size differences in the models pulls it all together as my hungry horde rushes across the battlefield.
@@tootyfrooty7604 i hope she has some big claw carnifex to really sell that claw transition ( had to look up some images as i didnt know what they looked like :) ). sounds awesome
11 years I've had my space hulk box waiting for paint! My Space Hulk box is strangely important to me, because I was homeless for a few years and it was the last thing I recovered from my house. Despite the elements (and the slugs!!) the box wasn't damaged at all. All the colour schemes look great but I think the green one seems the most interesting, having never seen genestealers painted that way before, and given the context of classic aliens. I'm quite partial to the xenomorph colour scheme too.
I like the green paint scheme, much as I realise you were going for typical alien fare, it gave me a pretty heavy Creature from the Black Lagoon vibe which I love.

Right? Legit makes me want to start a Tyranid army.
i love the colour scheme as they actually look like genestealers rather than the creamstealers gw paint them as
Creamstealers hahah

I think I’m going to try it!
Would like to like but can't, it is on the funny number.

I'd love to see a whole Tyranid Army painted up like Xenomorphs in this style. So good!
I've always been a fan of the classic Genestealer color scheme, and you did it really well.
The fact he can paint so many models that look amazing fast while colorblind is amazing!

Same, I'm using the terminators in a deathwatch army I'm building instead of dropping more money on separate terminator squads. Spooky
such a good omen
Dana Howl and Midwinter Minis, two great tastes that go great together.

2:33 -- Priming your palette. Smart lad! That tip alone makes the video.
It’s like Gordon Ramsey seasoning the outside of the oven.
Feeling guilty - I only ever painted the Terminators and the genestealers remain unpainted, hiding in the same metal Quality Street tin since 1989!
Surprised by how much I loved the green scheme, definitely my favourite
They mostly paint them at night. mostly. Those Giger style ones are fantastic! loved the subtle colours.

Ugh you can keep your flash gitz yellow. Yuck!
This is still a fantastic game to play. The green skin looked good closely followed by the cream coloured one. Loved it all
I love the ET inspired one, great idea for the reddish wash!
The best flex of the silver plate I've ever seen on UA-cam.

Great schemes! Goes to show how effective one can be in very little time at the table.
