    Glad everyone is finding the book helpful! Both the 2006 and 2021 versions are sold out. We've made available 2 damaged copies (cover vinyl was bent) as well as digital versions of both books. I enjoyed the video. Nice job - and enjoying the jazz as well.

    He has a great style. I always loved Johnny Quest and the spoof Venture Brothers

      I've never seen the Venture Bros, but I've heard good things. There's some really great character designs and preliminary work from Johnny Quest by Doug Wildey.

    I had not heard of Steve Rude. Thanks for the introduction-and the draw-along. As an artist, I appreciate watching artists learn from each other and continue to practice the craft, especially the fundamentals.
    Your work looks great too. Peace.

    Excellent video, Thomas. Yes, Steve Rude is a wonderful artist, and your comments on his Nexus book, while drawing from it, was really inspirational. Btw, that nice easy jazz, in the background, added to the whole flavor of your presentation. Very nice.

    Awesome video, great review of a great books. Didn't know of Steve Rude, but Nexus looks awesome. Hope it does become an animation. Very Alex Toth looking, but with his own thing, which I LOVE.

    Very cool stuff. I happen to know that what producer want to see more than the art is the story, character development and story arc.

    I really like working with comics and I am a big fan of animation, I made a few of them and I know how much work it takes. I have never heard of Nexus, probably because I am Brazilian and it was never sold here, or I just never saw one here, but we have a similar publication here, it's called Society of Virtue, and it is more like a motion comic than a proper animation, but it's good.
    This book actually inspired me to do something similar, since it would be my dream to see something I made turning into an animation, I am already making the Turnarounds of my character for my comic references, and a simplified version of them to use in animation would be very handy, and even start to put some storyboards on this👀
    Thanks for sharing this book and the channel, I know I will have a lot to learn from it💜

      I'm glad you got a lot out of this video! It sounds like you're on the right track, with doing all of the turnarounds, etc. Good luck with your project, I bet it will turn out awesome!

    With this style of art and animation, you can't hide behind rendering. What great simplicity of line and form. Definitely not easy to execute

      Great way of putting it. Yes, there really is nothing to hide behind when you understand line and form. He makes it look easy!

    Nice video. I'm definitely a fan of The Dude, and hope that his vision of the animated Nexus goes beyond the excellent short film he made. As for how-to-draw books I'd like to see examined, I've always wanted to see the ones by Bart Sears and Andy Smith.

    • @thomaspitilli
      @thomaspitilli  3 дні тому +1

      @jimgillespie6109 Oh cool, I'll have to look the Bart Sears one. Is that a collection of all of his Wizard Basic Training lessons? Not sure I'm familiar with an Andy Smith book, but I'll look it up. Thanks!

    This video was insightful and I will be adding the book to my wish-list. The head turn arounds facial expressions look great. Would it be possible for you to create a video on drawing facial expressions? A book review on Draw the LooneyTunes - The Warner Bros Character Design Manual would be interesting if you have it in your library. Rough Justice: The DC Comics Sketches of Alex Ross would also be a good book to review.

      Thanks for watching and thank you for the suggestions! A video on facial expressions would be super cool. I'll keep that in mind. I never heard of that Looney Tunes Design book, I looked it up and it looks awesome. Unfortunately, it seems out of print and very expensive, so I probably won't be able to get my hands on that one, but the Alex Ross book would be super cool, I'll add that to my list!

      @rdallas1614 2 дні тому

      @@thomaspitilli The Looney Tunes book is expensive, so it is understandable you cannot justify purchasing it. I am transitioning from broad comic expressions toward more nuanced facial expressions that show the inner life of characters, so it would be cool to see your take on this. Thanks.
